Top Contributors based on reputation points - Web part

I am working on a requirement where a Task list with multiple subtasks is created, some reputations points are awarded to assignees on completion of sub/tasks. Now if a assignee
is already carrying some points and some new points are awarded on completion of latest task and how do we calculate the total number of reputation points. And how do we display top awardees in a webpart. Its similar to top contributor web part in MSDN forums.
Any suggestions will be appreciated.

Is there a way to allow contributor users to add web parts to a page without granting them "Add and Customize Pages" permission?

I am working on an enterprise wiki site collection, and when contributor users try to add web parts they will get the following error:-
A Web Part or Web Form Control on this Page cannot be displayed or imported. You don't have Add and Customize Pages permissions required to perform this action.
So I granted the Contribute Permission level an extra permission which is “Add and Customize Pages”. Now contributors will be able to add/edit/delete
web parts. But they will have extra permissions that I do not want them to have , such as changing the design and customize some page layouts, also they can access the site settings and create site columns !!.
So my question is basically if there is another way to allow users with contribute permission to be able to add web parts without granting any extra permission. In other words to treat adding web parts as normal content such as image, Text ,tables ?

so there are not any workarounds or any custom settings which i can use to implement any of these:-
- To force Contributor users to add web parts without granting them "Add and Customize Pages"
- If i grant them "Add and customize Pages" permission, to stop the ability to access the site settings ?
Please can any one advice on this , as it is causing a lot of confusion,,, and i can not live with the face that Contributor users can access and modify site settings. the other approach will be is that i will stop using web parts. but one of our main reasons
we decide to use SharePoint is the ability to add web parts, especially the Visio & Excel web access web. thanks in advance for any advice ..

Visio Web Part - Problems Loading and Displaying Multiple Sheets

I am having two issues with the VISIO SharePoint web part:
1) most of the time the server times out and returns "...unable to retrieve data...
2) When it does load, it only displays 1 or 2 sheets from visio file
I don't currently have access to the back end so the best I can say is that we are running SharePoint 2013 and I am using the Office265 interface to access it.
Originally the visio file was connected to an excel file (where shape data was stored). I made a copy of the visio file and deleted all of the connections to see if that helped (it didn't). As for the issue with not all of the sheets being displayed, one
of the times I was able to select about 4-5 sheets (via the dialog box in the top right corner of the visio web part) - right now I can only see 2 of the sheets (the 2nd and the 5th).
Visio file was created using Visio 2013, 2Mb and saved with a .vsdx extension.
Any thoughts?

Hi Byron,
I suppose that “sheets” means the pages in the Visio file.
I recommend to check the Publish Options for your Visio file in Microsoft Visio to see if the pages haven selected to be displayed when viewing the file in SharePoint and also check if the data sources have been added to be available.

Data view web part to display the most frequently accessed pages based on the user that is logged in

I am working on a project in which I would like to display the top 5 most accessed pieces of content as links, based on the user that is logged in. Our MOSS 2007 implementation has subsites for all regions that we do business in, as an example North, South, East, and West. When a user visits the North region homepage, I would like a web part to display:
Hello, <username>, here is a listing of your most accessed content:
Link to One
Link to Two
Link to Three
Link to Four
Link to Five
So each user would get a customized list based on their content access. We are not using my sites, but these would not work as we want the list to display on the home page of the region site.
I am thinking that a data view may work here, but I am not sure. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Share Point mobile view not working for Custom & Out of Box Web Parts into mobile devices

When we open our share point application in mobile view it gives an error mention below:
some apss, such as content Editor are not supported in mobile view.Tapping on the Title area can bring up navigation window.
We have custom Page Layouts & Master Page with custom Web Parts.

Add a Web Part on the right side to an existing SP site (instead of top)

Hi,
I have read the existing threads and still have questions.
I need to add a Web Part (I think) to an existing SP site - with the Web Part on the RIGHT side of the site - so:
Libraries, Lists, Discussions, etc. on the left (existing) -- List of files in the middle (existing) -- Link(s) on the right (to be created)
My goal is to create a link in this Web Part to another SP site under the same project.
I can currently add a Web Part, but it is positioned at the top of the SP site to which I want to add it. This is not what I want.
Any non-programmatic suggestions are welcome.
(I can read code to a certain degree, but I doubt my team leaders have that in mind.)

Do you have designer? If yes then you can open yoru page in designer and add the webpart wherever you want.
Make sure that you have added the new webpart zone right side to add link webpart in right side pane.

Yes, you can use XmlDocument, XmlNodeList, XmlElement, XmlNode etc to read infopath file via code. Just add "using System.Xml" as reference in your solution.

Adding Page View Web Part with dynamic URL based on visited mysite user

Problem:
I want to add an iframe (using Page View Web Part for example) on all mysite users front page (person.aspx) with following address:
http://webservice/calendar?user=name
The property "name" represents a dynamic value based on which person the user is visiting. Hence if i open "Tom Hanks" mysite profile, the iframe will show content from http://webservice/calendar?user=Tom%Hanks
(This is a custom made calendar from Domino)

The Page Viewer Web Part is basically an HTML IFRAME. We can use a Content Editor Web Part with an IFRAME and a little JavaScript to meet your requirement.

Do you want to create a player from scratch or use eg. the Silverlight media player:

How to publish Web parts page in Share point server 2010

Hi All,
I have created Web parts page in share point server 2010. it working fine but it always displayed with Ribbon controls and other tool bars, if there any possibility to publish web parts page, here user able to view content only not editing option.
I already enabled 'SharePoint Server Publishing Infrastructure' in site collection level and 'SharePoint Server Publishing' in site level.
Here i only find publish menu for pages not for web parts page.
Kindly advice how to publish web parts pages.

Just remove Edit permission of users on that page, then they wont be able to see edit options

Can a Content Query Web Part (CQWP) be used to filter content based upon a substring of a variable

Folks, I'm a newbie to this forum and to SHarepoint in general - so please be gentle :-)
I'm using Sharepoint 2010 and have content in lists which I want to display based upon certain user attribtes. For example I have a sharepoint LINKS list which contains entries for vaious applications (I'm using the LINKS list as an example, however I'd
like to apply it to many libraries/lists).

My users are split accross AD domains, one for each called UK and others in a domain called USA
What I would like to do in a content query is display items where the users domain (ie UK or USA) is contained in the Description field.
So a CQWP which includes something like "filter when Decription = &userdomian"
I should also add that I am only using basic page editing in a browser and have no access to Sharepoint Designer
Can this be done?
BTW - I know this is a little like Audience Targetting, however I don't have rights to setup audiences and as the information about the audience is already available in the users domain I simply wanted to reuse that.

According to your description, my understanding is that you want to filter items based on the current user’s domain.
Whether you could access Central Administrator, and create a new user property in User Profile Service Application->Manage User Properties. If yes, create a new user property (assuming it is called ‘Domain’)to store the users’ domain information. If not,
please choice a existing user property that you don’t use to store the domain information, like Department.
Then do as the followings:
Open the page that you want to display the list.
Eidt the page and insert the list into the page.
Insert a Current User Filter web part(Insert->Web Part->Filters->Current User Filter) into the page.
Then edit the Current User Filter web part, and select value to provide: SharePoint profile value for current user: Department(or Doamin).
Connect the Current User Filter web part to the list: Connections->Set filter values to->the list.
Connection Type: Get Filter Values from, click Configure.
Consumer Field Name:Description, click Finish.

Web Part Not Re-sizing Based on Width Property

I have a SP 2010 publishing site with a custom master page, using the Body Only page layout. I inserted a discussion board web part in the page content section of the page. When I go into the standard web part properties and try to set an absolute
width (in pixels), the web part itself does not squeeze down to this size. Instead, the web part content stays the same size, and some other div involved gets the width applied and covers up the web part content (sounds confusing, see image below for
example).
I tried this on a site with no master page and a web part zone, and it the web part content itself resized, which is what I was hoping to see above. Has anyone else seen this behavior? Does the web part need to be in an actual web part zone in
order to resize? Or is this all just a problem with my custom master/styles? I suspect it may be the latter, but I'm not sure how much control I have to fix it. Anyway, any thoughts would be greatly appreciated. Image samples below
to illustrate the issue.
IMAGE 1: See how "Last Updated" is cut off at the end? This was set to 600 pixels. The web part content doesn't resize.
IMAGE 2: This was set to 500 pixels in a traditional web part zone on a page with no custom master. The content resizes as expected.

I would use the Internet Explorer Developer tools to inspect the page and the styles being applied to the webpart. That will give you a clear understanding of what styles are being applied to your webpart (and the HTML that the webpart renders).
You can then use an HTML Form webpart (or attach a stylesheet) to apply CSS styles to override the width property and any other styles that require changing, in order to get the webpart to display correctly for your given width.
