Top-Level Navigation Bar - Is it possible to make it 3 levels?

Dear Portal Experts,
Could someone please advise if it is possible to make the Top-Level Navigation Bar show more than 2 menu levels?  I looked at the document and it said we can only have 1 or 2 levels.  But I'm just wondering if there is any way around it.  Thanks.

yes you are right .we can set only 1 0r 2 levels but good news is there is a workaround

  • Content admin - iview not in top level navigation bar

    Using my Administrator ID.
Also Portal Admin -> channel assigment not in top level navigation bar.
    What role am I missing?

    Hi,
The short answer to your question is that you need to add the relevant iView(s) and change the applicable role or iView properties to display in the areas necessary.
Generally you require the super admin role to structure other admin roles to the different types of admin roles in your enterprise with a default installation.
You could for example determine that your content admin receive more than just the default iView(s) applicable to them, and that you want those iView(s) to display as tabs, or only in the detailed navigational areas. This is a matter of personal preference and thus SAP allows you to customize this as you see fit.
    I hope this helps.

  • Top level navigation bar: function links

The only function links available are Help and Logoff. How do I configure portal to get the addional links i.e: Personalize? Am I missing a role?

    Hi,
I am not certain which role you have currently been assigned, but generally the super admin role is used as an entry point on a default installation to customize and delegate other roles in the Portal.
Personalizing is generally a property which you make available on iView's for users to alter. It can also be hidden etc.
As admin you are required to customize the properties to display portal objects on the navigational bars or other navigational areas. This is done at role, folder, iView level.
    Hope this helps.

  • Limited view on 2nd level Navigation Bar

    Hi
Is there a way to assign permission on a page on the 2nd level navigation?
    I explain:
First level has teh Entry Point "MY Work".
Second Level has the pages assigned to My Work
    "Page A"   "Page B"   "Page C"
Currently, I assign My Work role to everyone, so they will view all 3 pages.
PROBLEM:... I want "Page C" to be under "My Work" BUT only be viewed by selected users.
    Can this be done?
How else can I do this?
    Help needed urgently!!
    Appreciate any info
    Thanx
    RD

    Hi RD,
    two possibilities:
    a) By merging roles (the standard way). See http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/53/89503ede925441e10000000a114084/frameset.htm for details. Experts would have roles "Everyone" as well as "Expert".
    b) By delta links: You create a workset as entry point "MyWork" containing Pages A and B; this workset is assigned to Role Everyone. Than you create a Role "Expert", assign the workset "MyWork" as deltalink (already containing pages A and B), now adding page C. Experts would have Role "Expert" only.
    Hope it helps

  • EP About top level navigation

We are designing that many roles are assigned to one user.
    (about 7-8 roles per user)
When many roles are assigned to the user, tabs in top level navigation bar can not be displayed without scroll horizontally.
We want to display all roles at once, without scroll.
To realize the above, roles must be displayed on 2 records
in the one top level navigation bar.
Is ther someone who knows whether top level navigation can
be displayed at 2 records on a bar, or not.
Any help or information would be appreciated.
    Thank you.

    Mizuka,
first, you might want to reorganize your roles and possibly have a look at the "merging" feature.
Next, you might change the portals theme to use a smaller font for the top level tabs.
If both options are unsuitable, you can develop your own top level navigation component by writing some java code. Then you can make it look whatever you like to (and I mean it, it's extremely flexible, I did it early in the time of EP6 SP 0 ramp-up, but definitely takes some time).

  • WPC on Portal 7.3: Area in top level navigation

    Hi,
We are trying to set up a site using Web Page Composer on portal 7.3, but we are not able to display the area in the first level of the navigation.
Let's say we need following structure in the navigation:
    Departments
    -- HR
    -- Trading & Supply
    -- Finance
We want the content managers  of our site to create extra departments without sending an area connection request to show the new department in the navigation.
Is it possible to create an Area Departments, link it to a role by creating a connection and use this connection as an entry point?
I've tried to edit the connection and mark "departments" as entry point, but it's not appearing in the top level navigation.
    kr,
    Joachim

    Hi,
An area cannot be the first level of navigation. When you publish an area in WPC 2.0 it becomes a workset. Connecting the area to a role is similar to placing a workset under a role (the technicalities aren't the same, but that's the general idea).
Information regarding area connection can be found at:

  • How to merge top level navigation into detail navigation panel.

    Hi All,
I want to add all the contents of top level navigation into detail navigation panel and  remove top level navigation.I am looking for the code with which i can shift the top level navigation to detail level navigation.

You could edit the top-level navigation iview and set the <b>Number of Display levels</b> property's value to 0.
you can reach the Top-level navigation iview by going through the following path
    1) <b>Content Administration --> Portal Content --> Content Provided by SAP --> Admin Interfaces --> Top-level navigation</b>
However, note that once you do this the whatever menus that are available in the top level will not be available anymore.
Maybe, you could copy the standard Top-level navigation into a framework page that you have created and then make the change. After doing so, you can assign it to groups/roles you want. This will ensure that the CONTENT/SYSTEM/USER administrators see the normal portal framework and specific user groups alone dont see the Top level navigation..

  • Horizontal Navigation Bar

I'm using the Spry horizontal menu bar, and I've got a problem.
In IE7, but not in Firefox or Safari or even IE8, the hover state is apparently only active for the text in the submenus, not the entire 'button'.  That is, the list item is styled to look like a button, it's 12 ems wide, the text for most of the items doesn't fill the entire button.  If one puts their mouse over the 'empty' part of the button, it seems that the 'hover' state is lost and the submenu disappears. In the image below, if you mouse over Northside, but leave the mouse on the right side of the 'button', the menu will quickly disappear if using IE7; it stays put when using the other browsers.
Very annoying to the user (and to this developer).
    The site is http://www.acblunit174.org
I wonder if anyone has an explanation?  Is this a known problem with a known workaround?
The css file is included below.
    Any advice would be appreciated.

  • Quick link-removal of navigation bar

    Hi,
How to remove the top level navigation bar of a quick link
    I created the quick link.
while I call it with the hostnme: port/quicklink it is showing me the whole content inside the small window. I want it to show only the page which I'm calling through a quicklink.
    any thoughts.
    Regards,
    Bhairu.

    Hi,
I dont think that this can be done, because look when you design a application say an iview and use it as a quick link, it will inherit all the properties form default framework, you can disable the TLN & Tool area in default framework i.e. you can hide them but this will affect when you login to portal noramally too, this time too it wont show TLN and other details, i could only figure out one option is create a portal desktop --> assign a default frame work --> disable TLN & other areas, and create ont test role and assign this desktop top to this test role & assign your quick link application to this role,Now when you will access by the same URL, again give credentials, it will take you directly inside the role and it wont show you TLN and othe details.
    Hope this helps,
    Regards,

  • Navigation bar different colors for each tab

I want to have the top horizontal navigation bar with different background colours for each tab on the bar.
I don't want to change the background colour for the entire navigation bar.  How do I change them individually?
    thanks!

    Hi lorrscorpio,
As far as I know it is difficult to change background color of top navigation link OOTB, better to create a html menu for that and add it to your page .In that you can easily change background color of your top navigation link.

  • Navigation bar is messed up... how to fix?

Help! My navigation bar looks fine in iWeb, but the site shows the words in the wrong places, with pieces missing, and includes one heading (jean ann pics) that I eliminated from the navigation bar. I continue to make changes and those come out fine, but that navigation bar (just the welcome page) won't be corrected!
    site is www.mcelroykin.com
I think that one time when it was publishing there was some kind of error, but I can't recall what it was-- I was on my way out the door...
Any thoughts on how to fix this??
    Thanks!!!!!
    Liz (frustrated in NC)

Yes! There are multiple versions of files like you suggested. How do I know which ones to keep?
Well, the ones to 'keep' should be inside this folder: iDisk/Web/Sites/iWeb/McElroyKin/McElroyKin Blog (News)/McElroyKin Blog (News)_files. If you are viewing your iDisk's contents as icons and you have View Options set to show the icon preview, it should be possible to visually identify the navbarXnormal.png and navbarXrollover.png files to delete from other folders and to copy the correct ones from McElroyKin Blog (News)_files — but, and it's a BIG 'but', this would be a painstaking process at best, and would inevitably be prone to error.
I'm afraid my advice is quite radical. I would delete everything in iDisk/Web/Sites/iWeb (assuming McElroyKin is your only site) and publish again from iWeb.
While you're at it, might I also offer some advice about naming your Blog page? All the rest of your naming convention is excellent (I especially like the main site name of McElroyKin), but by naming your Blog 'McElroyKin Blog (News)' you're asking for long, ugly URLs like those which are showing up — for example,
    http://web.mac.com/bakerlizzie/iWeb/McElroyKin/41F182C9-9B24-42A2-AC53-704C9EAB8 FFA/1316BA2A-99C1-44E5-8F35-0517E4AC5298.html.
Individual blog pages will always finish with that 30-odd-character combination in their URLs, but you can prevent having another one of those earlier in the URL by avoiding certain characters which Apple recommend against using. In this case, I suspect that the parentheses in your Blog name are responsible for this long-windedness, especially when combined with spaces (which, as we all know by now, on their own result in those ugly %20s in iWeb URLs).
Having said all this, I also have to say that I too have experienced this navigation bar problem. I found that the situation righted itself after multiple browser cache-clearings and refreshes and re-publishings. If you're anxious about following my recommendation about deleting material from your iDisk prior to re-publishing from iWeb, you could first try re-publishing a couple of times without making any further changes in iWeb. Empty Safari's cache each time. See if this clears things up. If not, then it's time for the heavy artillery.

  • Portal 2 level navigation prob.

NEVERMIND!! I have the sollution!! Tnx anyway
I have made some url iviews. iview1, iview2 and iview3. I have attached this to a workset folder. So i made an workset and folders in it. So workset1 have folder1 with iview1,2,3 and i have another folder in the same workset, called folder2 with only iview1.
I have assigned this workset to 2 roles, roleA and rolB. roleA can see both folders with the content and roleB can only see folder2 with it's content.
In the portal i can see the roles(A,B), but in the second level navigation i see the worksets name. I want the folder name in there, how can i get that?! I want the folder name in the second level navigation and the content of the folder in the detailed navigation...

    Hello,
Get rid of your current Workset(s), and just Convert your folders to Worksets. This way you will get your new Worksets in the 2nd level navigation, and their content in the detail navigation. In other words, Create a structure like shown below:
    RoleA (<--top level navigation)
-workset1 (<--this will be shown on  second level navigation)
    --iview1
    --iview2
    --iview3
-workset2(<- this will be shown on  second level navigation)
    ---iview1
    ---iview1
    ---iview2
    ---iview3
    Hope this helps,

  • URL to launch the navigation bar?

    Hi guys,
We were provided with an HTML5 app that handles the touch events for the entire page and we run it inside of the web overlay. To exit back to the library we use another overlay on top of the 1st one as a button with the link to goto://ApplicationViewState/library as per:
    http://digitalpublishing.tumblr.com/post/10161880827/creating-super-ov erlays-that-overlay-other
But what we would like better for this button to do - to call the navigation bar. Can we somehow make this 2nd overlay to respond to the tap and pull out the navigation bar? It would be also nice to have an ability to call it by the link/button as per this request:
    http://forums.adobe.com/message/6207494
    Thank you,

    Hello,
Yes it will be in your page template. You just need to move #NAVIGATION_BAR# substitution under the #LOGO# substitution tag, probably something like this should work
    #LOGO#&lt;div>#NAVIGATION_BAR#&lt;/div>
