Toshiba Satellite C655 Not Windows10 Upgradeable?

My Satellite C655 (Part # PSC0YU-00K002) is only a couple of years old, but it looks like it is not listed in the official list of upgradeable PCs on Toshiba's upgrade list page (http://win10upgrade.toshiba.com/swupdate/modellist.aspx?region=TAIS&lang=en&country=US).
Should I try to upgrade manually through Microsoft? Would I then have to go back to Toshiba and download all new drivers?
Any advice?

If your computer is not listed in the Toshiba's list, you likely have to take a risk yourself. My Satellite C655 has been likely successful to upgrade  Windows from 7 to 10 but  failed to access the Internet.  The Setting page of the Windows 10 on my computer says, "We couldn't find wireless devices on this PC". According to the Microsoft Support, Answer Desk, the Checking System in the Windows 10 Upgrading Icon check the computer only for whether or not it is compatible to the upgrading process, not  it works on Windows 10.

  • Blue screen of death after ram upgrade on a Toshiba Satellite C655 laptop

I ordered an upgrade for a Toshiba Satellite C655(PSC08U-02D037) running Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit. I've trying for a month to get this to work consistently. When I first installed it, it worked fine for the first few days, but then after that I kept getting an error that would pop up "Display has Stopped Responding And Recovered" and the screen would flicker turn to black for a second. It didn't happen a lot at first, but then it got progressively worse to the point that it would crash my browsers, and sometimes when I tried to play certain videos, I would get the blue screen of death, and then the computer would have to restart.
I updated my bios, graphics drivers, I checked to see if maybe I failed to install it properly and reinstalled it, no avail. Finally I just took the ram out, and then I stopped having these issues. Which leads me to believe that it may have something to do with the memory upgrade. I ran the scanner as suggested when I was looking to upgrade, and what was recommended was a ( System 2gb DDR3-1600 Sodimm 1.35v CL11 ) ram stick part number CT6316802, which is the one I ended up ordering. I'm not sure what else to do but assume that what I ordered is either defective or just doesn't work with my laptop.

    Hi jinjoe,
I am sorry for the issues you are experiencing with your upgrade. How is this memory installed? Is it just one module or did you purchase two? Did you install it with any exisitng RAM? If you have two modules have you tried installing one module at a time? This would help us determine if the issue is with one defective memory module or both causing the issue.

  • My Toshiba Satellite does not charge or turn on.

Hiya. I'm fourteen, and I own a Toshiba Satellite C650D. This was my first ever laptop. On Christmas Eve, It shut down once by itself. I thought it might've overheated so I turned it on again and it was fine. Later on it shut off again. It didn't turn back on.. It's been stuck off this whole time. I really liked my computer and I refused all other laptops, I only want my Toshiba. The LED charge light doesn't turn on if I plug in the Brand new power cord. I tried doing a power cycle more than three times, I took it apart and dusted off the motherboard, I found no cracks in it. A little bit of pieces tumbled out, But I suspected that was from the broken hinge. The pieces that fell out were tiny pieces of plastic, and one small metal loop with three tiny arms and one medium arm. I'm not sure if this is a busted socket or anything, But I think it's the broken hinge. I really want my laptop back, It was absolutely amazing, and All I've been stuck with this whole time is an IBM thinkpad. If ANYONE can help me please do. I cannot afford to go to a service center, order parts or a disk, and my dad said he was going to find me a new laptop on ebay. I don't want a new laptop. I want my Toshiba.

Please provide the entire model number of your laptop.
Also, were you using your laptop mostly for gaming?
Was this that the first time you had felt it was hot / overheating?
When you press the power button do you hear the fan come on, even if for a few seconds?
Do you hear you hard drive spin at all?

  • Toshiba Satellite WILL NOT BOOT PROPERLY -- URGENT -- HELP NEEDED

    Hey guys,
I have a Toshiba Satellite P745-S4217, running x64 Windows 7 Home Premium. On Saturday (19/4), a problem occured where my computer automatically booted in Safe Mode. Normally I wouldn't start my PC in Safe Mode, so I turned the computer off to reboot it normally. When I went to reboot, though, at the *Starting Windows* screen, it went straight to a BSOD and rebooted by itself, then giving me to option to Launch Startup Repair or try again. Of course, I went to launch the Startup Repair, but then it simply went into a black screen and stayed there for around 4 hours before I chose to reboot again. The second time I rebooted, it did the BSOD thing again and gave me the two options. Every time I chose Start Normally, it went into the BSOD and returned to the menu, and every time I launched Startup Repair, it went into the black screen.
By Sunday (20/4) I'd had enough of this. When I went to boot my computer, I rapidly tapped F12 to go into setup and reset the BIOS (another forum told me to do so). After this, however, when the computer went to reboot, it displayed a screen that said 'Select Proper Boot Device or Reboot and Insert Boot Device' or something along those lines. Since I don't have a Win7 Boot Disc (my PC came without that, a recovery disc, OR an installation disc since Win7 was preinstalled), I was thinking about creating a boot disc to solve the problem. However, since my PC runs slowly, I was also contemplating creating a restore disc that would return the PC to factory defaults -- yet, I don't have a hard drive to backup my files onto (I also have no way of doing this even if I did, remember my PC refuses to boot). Are there anymore solutions I could try to boot the computer correctly, or will I have to reinstall Win7? PLEASE HELP!

You might want to try any other suggestions in this article that you haven't already tried:

  • Win 7 Won't Load on Toshiba Satellite C655 S5060

Okay, so I'm not sure what happened.  Computer was unresponsive so I forced a hard shutdown.  After that, it won't load Windows 7 and gives me 2 options: Launch windows repair or start win normal.
The second option, start windows normally, takes a few minutes, comes to a blue screen of error, then shuts down, restarts, back to the same 2 options.
The first option, takes me to a screen that says windows files loading (something like that), then it hangs forever in a black/grey screen and the ONLY thing I can see is that mouse arrow!!!
I read about Toshiba's recovery option of pressing zero while turning on laptop but I know that will delete all my files.  Before I go down that route, I wanted help here just to see if I can save it... "Better".
So, my desktop went to all hell too but I was able to grab an iso (win 7 recovery disc, 64 bit) and burn it onto cd.  I tried using that as well as a 32 bit one and when I boot from those, the laptop just sorta says 'windows files loading", then same black/grey screen with mouse arrow (only thing that shows).
I've never played with a laptop like this.  If I want to save my files on the hard drive, what are my options?  Anything cheap or free?  And doing that "0" reset will wipe everything clean, right?
Oh yeah, and when I did other options, debugging etc. it would try loading all these files and right after saying:
    "loaded: \windows\systems32\DRIVERS\CLASSPNP.SYS"
it would hang, then crash after a min or two.... :/
Thanks for your time.  Please list directions step by step, and I can get back with info.

can the drive not be put into a desktop tower as is?  I think when I built the desktop 6 years ago, I installed 2 drives
As a secondary drive? Sure. Do that and copy the important files.
We can try to resurrect Windows from the recovery environment if you like. If you didn't burn a repair disk, download one from here. Scroll down to Windows 7 System Repair Disc 64-bit.
Create a Windows 7 System Repair Disc
Use it to boot to the Windows Recovery Environment.

Unfortunately, it didn't nail the culprit. Ntoskrnl.exe is a Windows core file.
Can't hurt to install/reinstall this driver.

  • Toshiba Satellite C655 SP4168M freezes while playing a game

So i've been having problems with mi laptop very recently with a game i'm playing (League of legends), the game normally works perfectly, but at random times it just completely freezes (making an awkward sttutering sound) and i have to forcefully shutdown and restart the PC. It doesnt happen ALL the time, but when it happens it's really annoying, and i can either happen once every week, or several times daily. I already repaired the video driver but that didnt help, i was thinking about updating the BIOS; but cant find the correct version for my laptop, and i cant even be sure that's actually the problem. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

try using a program like "Piriform Speccy" (free version), and monitor the CPU temps as you are using the system.  If it gets up into the orange and red while watching videos, you may need to apply fresh thermal paste to the CPU.
My old L355 is starting to freeze while watching youtube videos the other day, and just confirmed that the CPU is overheating.  Will be tearing it apart hopefully tonight to be cleaned up and have a fresh application of arctic silver on the CPU.

  • Satellite C655 does not boot

Have a Toshiba Satellite C655 which suddenly stopped working. Cannot get the system to boot. Tried pressing F8 for safe mode and get nothing, F11 for recovery does not work. 0 does not work, only F2 and F12 works. Do not have a recovery disk.
Win7 Home Premium on system and tried using Win7 Pro but will not repair the strtup files because it states not correct version.
Please help if a solution is available other than sending back to support.

F11 is not for recovery. You must try to enter Advanced boot options.

  • Satellite C655-S5044 won't recognize TSST CDDVDW TS-L633C ATA device after windows 7 update

    Laptop: Toshiba Satellite C655-S5044; Windows 7 64-bit
DVD Drive - TSST CDDVDW TS-L633C ATA Device
After an automatic Windows update, the CD/DVD drive is no longer recognized.
Running troubleshoot on the PC yields:
Problem detected with TSST CDDVDW TS-L633C ATA Device Driver has been disabled
Checking for new drivers says I have the latest.
I tried running a microsoft fixit for DVD/CD drives - no problem found
I tried deinstalling the driver, then rebooting.  This yields a message:
Device Driver was not successfully installed please consult with your device manufacturer.
I tried the TSST website for Toshiba and that rerouted me here.
Searching the forums I have seen similar issues with other hardware/OS combinations but not exactly the same.
Additional Info from the device manager:
    Device Type:  DVD/CD-ROM Drive
    Manufacturer: (Standard CD-ROM drives)
    Location:  Location 0 (Channel 1, target 0, Lun 0)
I suspect that I have multiple device drivers on the computer for this device and the OS is installing one that doesn't work.
How can I get the correct current driver and install it?
Does anyone recognize this problem and have a fix?
    Thanks.

    Satellite C655-S5044
I didn't find that model anywhere.
Device Driver was not successfully installed please consult with your device manufacturer.
The driver is native to Windows. Sounds to me like a hardware malfunction.
    After an automatic Windows update,..
In a Microsoft forum, they would tell you to do a System Restore to before the Windows Update. If that fixed the problem, then apply the updates one at a time to identify the culprit.

  • Satellite C655 Won't Play Sound Anymore

My Toshiba Satellite C655 won't play sound through my built-in speakers.
The sound is turned up, it is not muted, and the internal speakers are the default. I can plug in my headphones and it will work, but it won't come through the speakers. This is the first time I've had this problem and I've had the laptop for about 5 months now.
    Please help!

    Hello
Please click with right mouse button on sound symbol in task bar and choose option layback devices.
    Is option Speakers listed there?
Is it set to default device? If not define it as default device (right mouse button on it and choose option Set as default device.

  • Hard drive - MK5065GSXN for Satellite C655-S506

    Hi,
I received an HD error on Win7. I am planning to buy a new HD.
    Laptop: Toshiba Satellite C655-S506
    HD: MK5065GSXN 500GB HDD (5400rpm, Serial ATA)
Where can I order/get the same HD (in USA) ? Tried getting the same from google but I am not satisfied with the results. Can you pls. provide the links?
    Thanks.

It is not easy to get info about this old Satellite notebook but I know that this old models have HDD with IDE interface and was offered with 20 or 30 GB capacity.
I dont know for sure but I believe you can use HDDs with more capacity and I think 60 or maybe 80 GB would be enough.
Where you can buy such HDDs?
I believe you can order it online in some online store but you can get it cheap on eBay.
To be honest no one need such old HDDs so you can get one on eBay for less money.
