Total of a Column in a report

Hi,
I have a report I am using Sum for one of the columns in this report.
By checking the Sum for a column in the report, I got the sum for that column and the display name for that row as 'report total'. I want to change this name to something else.
Where do I do that?
Please Advise.
Thanks.

I don't think this is possible. However, take a look at my last response to this question:
Total Sum after report rows
It may do what you want in another way.
Hope this Helps,
Sam

In the report column attributes the sum column is checked for the sal field
When I run the report, I get a Sub-total of 0 and a Report Total of 0. What am I doing wrong?
    thanks

    Sunil,
Which column is the sal column? I can’t see any numeric columns in your query. If you use htmldb_item calls in your query column, then this makes them strings and you can’t build sums on string columns. If you want to build sums in an updateable report / tabular form, then don’t use the htmldb_item API. Instead use the built-in display types on the report column attributes page. Using the built-in display types is the better options in most cases anyway and they do allow you to calculate sums even if the column is a text field or display and save type field.

  • Analysis report with totals on specific columns

I have an analysis report that I need to create totals on specific columns. If I turn on "Grand Totals" from the "Edit View: Table" section, all of the numeric columns will display grand totals. This is a nice automatic feature, but I only need totals of specific columns. Not all numeric columns need totals nor do Grand Totals of some columns make any sense.
For example, to display opportunity details, we will have on the report:
Opportunity Name, Item number, Item Description, Quantity, Price, Extended Price
Since the opportunity may have multiple items on it, having a grand total of quantity and unit price makes no sense. All we need is Grand Total of the opportunity extended price.
Is there a way to selectively turn on/off column totals or is it an all or nothing option?
    Thanks in advance.

Actually, i just solved the problem.
    Here is what I did:
    1. I added a column to the "Design Criteria" section (step 1). To keep the units consistant, I made sure that the data element was suitable for the value (I used a currency element). Ensure you note the position of the new column, mine was in position 11.
    2. Under the newly added elements "Column Properties", I set it to HIDDEN and changed the name to "Grand Total"
    3. Under the "Edit Formula", I changed the formula to be: SUM(<numeric column>)
    4. In "Create Layout" (Step 2), I added a narrative view to the bottom of the page.
    5. In the "Edit Narrative View", I set the appropriate formatting and added the following: Total Extended Price: @11
    6. Ensure that "Rows to display" is set to 1.
    Save and run
All done, works like a charm.

  • How to display the total at the end of the column in the report.

    Hi all,
Could any one please intimate, how to display the total at the end of the column. For example, i have a column, "sales" as the Key figure, and it has the data for all the transactions. Now, i would like to display the total at the end of the report, below the same column.
Similarly, for all the other columns in the report, i need to display the total for all the columns in the report.
    Thanks & Regards,
    A.V.N.Rao

    Hi All,
Thanks for many suggestions. I tried by providing the "Total" under "Calculate Results as" and also "Counter for all detailed values" under "Calcuate Single Values as", in the  "Calculations" tab of the key figure, but i am unable to get the information. Again, i am providing the requirement below:
    CHAR - A   CHAR - B   TIME CH. - 1 KF -1  KF- 2 KF - 3
    1                     RAM        2012           1         50      50
    2                     SAM         2012          2         100    200
    Result                                               3           150   250
Assume KF -1 as  "Qty." KF-2  as "Price" KF-3 as "Sales".
    Please intimate the solution.
    Thanks & Regards,

Two ideas I can think of:
    1) Create multiple pivot tables and then display them one under the other
    2) Create multiple measure columns such as "male_amt", "female_amt", "white_amt", "asian_amt", "black_amt", etc. for all the columns you need. Then you could simple stack them in a single pivot table.
Option #2 might give you the prettiest results - but also requires a lot more maintenance (for instance, if you reclassify ethnic groups, you'd have to go through the reports to add additional metric columns).
    Hope this helps,

  • : HIDING SUMMARY COLUMNS IN MATRIX REPORT , URGENT

    Hi,
Can any one please tell me how to hide a column in oralce matrix report. Its a summary column for the matrix report which appears next to the cell values. For example
    Manufacturer
    Brand
SubBrand1 SubBrand2 Brand Total Manufacturer Total
Week $ Sales $ Sales Total $ Sales Total $ Sales
This is a case where, the cell value is the $ sales for the SubBrand for the week. And it gets total at each brand level and each Manufacturer level. The requrement is if there is only one SubBrand for a Brand then the Brand total should not appear on the report. Similarly if there is one Brand for a Manufacturer, then the total at Manufacturer level should not appear . The point is not only it should dissapear but the frame should srink to make it fell that there is no totaling going on at those two levels. If the fileds just remains blank then the report looks odd. So the gap should be srinked as well. How to do it . This is very urgent . Please help me out.
    Thanks

use a formst trigeer on the field that returns false when you don't want to display the field.

  • How to get page totals at the end of the report in BI Publisher

I am using BI Publisher 10.3 and using Ms-Word template builder to design the report
and I want to implement totals for some columns (like page totals) ... can anyone let me know how to go about this
    Thanks

Take a look this blog: http://blogs.oracle.com/xmlpublisher/entry/anatomy_of_a_template_iii_page
You can download the template for that page.
Also take a look at the Samples folder within your BI publisher desktop folder and you can find a folder "Page Total" that has the RTF template, xml and output..
    Assign points if helpful.

  • Create column headers in report based on data entered in Form

    Hi,
I have a form with following fields being entered into a table: -- a start date for a project and then projected hours required on a monthly basis for X months
    Start Date mnth1_resource mnth2_resource mnth3_resource ...
    2/12/2011 30 20 80 ...
    6/3/2011 80 30 70
    3/12/2011 50 70 60
    4/10/2011 40 120 90
I would like to create a report (interactive or otherwise) that will provide headers for the actual months of the calendar showing the full range of months to cover the dates included in the data: e.g. if the above data was the only data entered then:
Feb Mar Apr May Jun Jul Aug Sept
    30 20 80
    50 70 60
    40 120 90
    80 30 70
Where mnth1 is the month of the start of the project--
Would appreciate any hints on how to accomplish this.
    Thanks,
    Pat

    Hi,
Thanks for the response. I see how a crosstab type report works great for data that is static and all in the table, however, in my case the issue is that the columns will vary depending on the start date of the project. So even though the user is only entering 12 months of projection, the total number of columns will depend on the start date of the latest project. For example, if a project does not start till June of 2011 and goes out 12 months, the actual column headers will need to go out to May 2012. Likewise the first column will be dependent on the earliest start date month-- like Feb 2011 in the sample data.

  • Removing Totals for Break Columns

    Hi All,
If we add break on two or three columns in report, it gives totals for each group plus a report level total. Is there any way to remove any group or break's total.
For example, if we have a report on emp table and having groups on deptno and job columns, it would be giving totals like this:
    JOB TOTAL:               3000
    DEPTNO TOTAL:               3000
    report total:               3000
How can we remove any of the above totals?
    Thanks
    Zahid Khan
    Deptno

Looks like this is a popular request!
I have report with a break on Column 1, 2 and 3. I would like to display the Report totla but not the sub totals at each column break. Can anyone please share their experience on how to get rid of the Sub Total for a break column?
    Thanks.

  • Adding a grand total to the columns

    Hi
I need to add a total to one of the columns in my report. I have set Aggregation rule as "Sum" but it is not displaying Grand Total.
Am I missing any thing or setting the rule incorrectly?
    Please advise.
    Thanks in Advance.
    Jas

    Hi Arvindh
Thanks for your response. I am not using a pivot table I just tried to add total to the table which is created by just selecting columns required in the Define Criteria section.
We can add a total w/o creating the pivot table also. By the way, I have found the solution. The key lies in the second step. If u want me to explain in detail. Just let me know.

  • Add Total to Stacked Column Chart on the top and another important thing is the data are from SharePoint site

the same with the following description from another question:
"How can I display a total on top of each column on a stacked column chart (using
reporting services 2008)? If I use Data Labels I can display the
values for each part of the stack on a stacked column, but I want to be display the total.
For Example: If I have stacked column on chart with a value of 10 for the 1st stack, 20 for the 2nd stack,
and 20 again for the 3rd stack - I want to display 50 (the SUM total) as the data label on top of the entire column..."
and a solution for this would create a new column named SUM(category group), this can be done with data source from SQL server, but my data is from SharePoint site list. its query seems can't be changed which means I can't add a SUM column.
what should I do with this? Can anyone give me a hand?
    thank you very much.

    Hi sophiexu,
If we want to display a total for each column on the top of a stacked chart, we can use a matrix control to display the column total value to work around this issue.
The following thread about how to simulate chart legend is for your reference:

  • CANNOT SEE TOTALS FOR SOME COLUMNS IN DISC 9I  (9.0.2.39.01)

We have made new reports in Disc 9i, column totals won’t appear on the report where expected, It just shows "SUM" and then blank, this is happening for all the new reports. Please help..
    Thanks.
    Glen

There are some cases where Discoverer cannot determine with certainty that the Totals or subtotals you create will be correct. It flags those totals as Values that cannot be aggregated. Go to Options-> Sheet Format and you can set what string you would like to see placed in those cells that Discoverer determines cannot be aggregated correctly.
Assuming that the blank totals are non-aggregable by Discoverer, there are some things you can do to to alter either your business area or worksheet or calculation that will enable you to get the totals you want. As this analysis takes some time and iterations, it is usually best handled through Oracle Support. Also see the doc and RN references to the EnhancedAggregationStrategy in the Preferences.
Also, given the version you are using it seems that you have just started using 9.0.2. You should strongly consider upgrading to OracleAS 10g (9.0.4) or at least upgrade to the latest 9.0.2 patch -> 9.0.2.54.
