Trace step,search help
hi good even,
i dont know how to create the search help for a field for a particular table.
plz tell clearly with each steps.
and i don't know how to trace the abap statements for a particular program. just like as F7 key using in c and c++.
I am not clear with ur previous post.
But I will try to explain how to pass internal table to a function module.
The internal table will have contents from a database table:
TABLES : zdssp, "DEPARTMENT TABLE
zessp. "EMPLOYEE DETAILS TABLE
DATA : BEGIN OF wi_zsspit OCCURS 0 ,
emp_id LIKE zessp-emp_id,
emp_name LIKE zessp-emp_name,
dept_id LIKE zessp-dept_id,
dept_descr LIKE zdssp-dept_descr,
END OF wi_zsspit.
DATA wt_zsspdept LIKE zdssp OCCURS 0 WITH HEADER LINE.
SELECTION-SCREEN BEGIN OF BLOCK b1 WITH FRAME TITLe text-001.
PARAMETERS : p_deptid LIKE zdssp-dept_id.
SELECTION-SCREEN END OF BLOCK b1.
AT SELECTION-SCREEN ON VALUE-REQUEST FOR p_deptid.
SELECT * FROM zdssp INTO TABLE wt_zsspdept.
IF sy-subrc EQ 0.
CALL FUNCTION 'F4IF_INT_TABLE_VALUE_REQUEST' " FUNCTION CALL
EXPORTING
retfield = 'DEPT_ID'
dynpprog = sy-repid
dynpnr = sy-dynnr
dynprofield = 'p_deptid'
value_org = 'S'
TABLES
value_tab = wt_zsspdept.
ENDIF.
Now, replace the code with ur field/table names and use write statement as required.
The function module is for getting F4 help.
Hope it helps,
Reward if helpful.

Steps for creation of search help exit for a search help
Hi,
I have created a search help. I need to create a search help exit for this search help.
Please let me know how to create a search help exit as well as how to link it to my search help.1)Copy the FM F4IF_SHLP_EXIT_EXAMPLE to write your own FM. (check the documentation and coding of FM F4IF_SHLP_EXIT_EXAMPLE).
2)write your code depending upon the functionality you want.
3)attach the FM in search help through SE11 in "search help exit" field.
A search help exit is a function module for making the input help process described by the search help more flexible than possible with the standard version.
This function module must have the same interface as function module F4IF_SHLP_EXIT_EXAMPLE. The search help exit may also have further optional parameters (in particular any EXPORTING parameters).
A search help exit is called at certain timepoints in the input help process.
Note: The source text and long documentation of the above-specified function module (including the long documentation about the parameters) contain information about using search help exits.
Function modules are provided in the function library for operations that are frequently executed in search help exits. The names of these function modules begin with the prefix F4UT_. These function modules can either be used directly as search help exits or used within other search help exits. You can find precise instructions for use in the long documentation for the corresponding function module.
This module has been created as an example for the interface and design of Search help exits in Search help.
All the interface parameters defined here are mandatory for a function module to be used as a search help exit, because the calling program does not know which parameters are actually used internally.
A search help exit is called repeatedly in connection with several events during the F4 process. The relevant step of the process is passed on in the CALLCONTROL step. If the module is intended to perform only a few modifications before the step, CALLCONTROL-STEP should remain unchanged.
However, if the step is performed completely by the module, the following step must be returned in CALLCONTROL-STEP.
For more detailed information please refer to the documentation describing the concept of the search help exit.
The module must react with an immediate EXIT to all steps that it does not know or does not want to handle. -
How can we create a Collective search help plz tell me with steps
How can we create a Collective search help plz tell me with steps
thanks,
basuHi
1) Elementary search helps describe a search path. The elementary search help must define where the data of the hit list should be read from (selection method), how the exchange of values between the screen template and selection method is implemented (interface of the search help) and how the online input help should be defined (online behavior of the search help).
2) Collective search helps combine several elementary search helps. A collective search help thus can offer several alternative search paths.
3)An elementary search help defines the standard flow of an input help.
4) A collective search help combines several elementary search helps. The user can thus choose one of several alternative search paths with a collective search help.
5)A collective search help comprises several elementary search helps. It combines all the search paths that are meaningful for a field.
6)Both elementary search helps and other search helps can be included in a collective search help. If other collective search helps are contained in a collective search help, they are expanded to the level of the elementary search helps when the input help is called.
CREATION:
Go to SE11 Tcode
select search help
give the 'z' search help name and create
select the selection method ur table name eg : 'mara'
dialog module 'display value immediately'.
add the field whatever u want and lpos = 1 and spos = 1 and check import and export parameter.
where left position when displaying and spos = search position
and then save and activate ..

Step by step procedure of creation of Search help is required...
Hiii,
Can any one send me the detail step by step procedure for creation of Serach Help... like simple search help , collective search help and complex search help...
If possible send some exampless for creation of search help.
vamsii..Search help is an object of the ABAP Dictionary with which input helps (F4 helps) can be defined.
You can create it in the Transaction Code SE11, choosing "Search Help" Radio-Button.
There are the following types of search helps:
Elementary search helps implement a search path for determining the possible entries.
Collective search helps contain several elementary search helps. A collective search help therefore provides several alternative search paths for possible entries.
Append search helps can be used to enhance collective search helps delivered by SAP with customer-specific search paths without requiring a modification.
Check step-by-step process for creating elementary search help.

Steps to replace match code objects with search helps in ECC6 upgrade
Hi,
Upgrade 4.7 to ECC6, match code objects need to be replaced with search hellps.
SAP note provided by client but not understanding clearly. Can any one explain me the stelps to migrate the match code objects into search hepls.
Thanks,
Jwala DeepaHi,
Migration must be done by a developer who knows both matchcodes and search helps. It's not just like a procedure that you can follow without knowledge/without thinking.
It's probably a little bit like forms (but far more simple), they often need to be "migrated from scratch"
The first important point is where to find the matchcode object/IDs -> SE11 -> Utility -> Other DDic objects. Then you'll see that are the update type, base table, etc.
There's a little scheme here to show the differences: http://help.sap.com/saphelp_46c/helpdata/en/3e/f3fc37eeb70143e10000009b38f8cf/frameset.htm (plus the general matchcode documentation : http://help.sap.com/saphelp_46c/helpdata/en/cf/21ef1f446011d189700000e8322d00/frameset.htm )
If you need a procedure, let's wait, and see if someone has one, but it doesn't look promising as matchcodes are not used since a long time now.

Issue in custom search help for Suggest Value
Hi,
I have a requirement to have the suggest values pick up the records form any par of the string. Basically, using pattern. I have written the code in search help exit and it work in some cases and doesnt work for others.Eg. The result shows up for 123 but doesnt show for 1234, even though 1234 exists and it had showed up when i keyed in 123.
My select quest works fine and i can see the values in record tab but on the screen. What could be going wrong.
Thanks in advance for your help.

As of release 4.7, it appears that maxrecords is

When only 500 records are passed into this exit,
the subsequent evaluation yields very few records
in the selection list. By setting maxrecords to

yields a reasonable selection list to the user

Help with DYNP_VALUES_READ and DYNP_GET_STEPL in search help exit
Hi,
I'm coding a search help exit for a field on a table control and I need to get access to the value of another field that's on the same line in order to limit the hit list. I can use DYNP_VALUES_READ to return the values from the step loop, but I can't find out which line of the step loop I'm on. DYNP_GET_STEPL always returns 0, presumably because I'm now in a function group and the step loop is getting reset. Any ideas?
Thanks in advance,

Getting values from screen to search help exit
Hi Experts,
I have created a search help in which I am not using selection method but search help exit. Dialog type is 'Dialog with value restriction'. My requirement is to get the values entered in restriction screen into search help exit. Please suggest a parameter which will hold this value in search help exit function module.Hi M,
As you know there are 5 steps in search help exit. For each step, the values in parameter of your search help exit is different.
For your requirement, you need process in step 'DISP', and get the selection value from 'SHLP-SELOPT'.
Example:
*Build range for customer number
LOOP AT shlp-selopt INTO ls_selopt WHERE shlpfield = 'KUNNR'.
lr_kunnr-sign = ls_selopt-sign.
lr_kunnr-option = ls_selopt-option.
lr_kunnr-low = ls_selopt-low.
lr_kunnr-high = ls_selopt-high.
APPEND lr_kunnr.
CLEAR: lr_kunnr.
ENDLOOP.
Then using the lr_kunnr range in your select statement.

How Can I get multi column values from dynamic search help?
Hi Gurus;
I'm using dynamic search help in my program.
I want to get multi column values from search help. But I dont know solution for this issue.
I'm using F4IF_INT_TABLE_VALUE_REQUEST FM.
How Can I get multi column values from dynamic search help?
Thanks.Believe it or not, the same FM worked for me in a dynpro. I will try to explain here how it works in custom screen and then you can do your work for other screens or program types. I am not going to write my actual work but will explain in general.
I have 4 fields (FLD1, FLD2, FLD3, FLD4) and i made the search based on FLD2 and when user click on a line (could be any field), then this would bring the line on to the screens.
There are like 3 steps.
You have your value_tab for my fields FLD1, FLD2, FLD3 and FLD4. This is just the data that we pass into the FM. (data: IT_VALTAB type table of ZVAL_TABLE)
Next map the screen fields into an internal table (data: It_dynpfld type table of dselc ). I also have other internal tables defined (just to keep it straight, i will be putting here) data: It_return type standard table of ddshretval.
Next step is to call the function module. Make sure you have values in IT_VALTAB.
call function 'F4IF_INT_TABLE_VALUE_REQUEST'
exporting
retfield = 'FLD2'
value_org = 'S'
tables
value_tab = It_VALTAB
return_tab = It_return
dynpfld_mapping = It_dynpfld
exceptions
parameter_error = 1
no_values_found = 2
others = 3.
if sy-subrc <> 0.
message id sy-msgid type sy-msgty number sy-msgno
with sy-msgv1 sy-msgv2 sy-msgv3 sy-msgv4.
else.
perform get_selected_fields tables It_return.
endif.
The code within the perform GET_SELECTED_FIELDS - We need to map the result fields after user selects it. The code goes like this. This is step is to update the dynpro fields.
I need a internal table as well as a work area here. like,
data: lt_fields type table of dynpread,
la_fields type dynpread.
field-symbols: <fs_return> type ddshretval.
so fill out LT_FIELDS from the IT_RETURN table
loop at lt_return assigning <fs_return>.
la_fields-fieldname = <fs_return>-retfield.
la_fields-fieldvalue = <fs_return>-fieldval.
append la_fields to lt_fields.
clear: la_fields.
endloop.
Call the FM to update the dynpro
call function 'DYNP_VALUES_UPDATE'
exporting
dyname = sy-repid
dynumb = '1002' "This is my screen number. You could use 1000 for selection screen (hope so)
tables
dynpfields = lt_fields
exceptions
invalid_abapworkarea = 1
invalid_dynprofield = 2
invalid_dynproname = 3
invalid_dynpronummer = 4
invalid_request = 5
no_fielddescription = 6
undefind_error = 7
others = 8.
if sy-subrc <> 0.
message id sy-msgid type sy-msgty number sy-msgno
with sy-msgv1 sy-msgv2 sy-msgv3 sy-msgv4.
endif.

Collective search help in SRM 7.0
Hello all,
Does any body has an idea why the custom elementary search helps wont get displayed in SRM7.0 When we add for a collective search help.
For ex.. BBP_BUPA* SOURCE_OF SUPPLY is the standard collective search help where we added custom search helps to it,
While upgrading we try to implement the same in 7.0 also, But theya re not at all visible in the Drop down of Preferred supplier.
I tried to check web dynpro componenet WDR_F4_COLLECTIVE method in debug mode but was unable to trace it out,
Can any body help me how can i include them to standard collective search helps in web dynpro.
Thanks and Regards

I am using ECC 6.0. I have a problem in search help of material by plant. In the search help of material (choosing the tab plant material by descriptions), if i give any plant which is 3 chars long (exp. ABC) it is giving correct combination of plant material. But if i am giving a plant which is 4 chars long (exp ABCD) it firing a message saying no values found, although the combination exist. (if i am giving only material name it is showing both 3 chars and 4 chars long plant).
for ref: please use transaction MD04 and press f4 in material field and choose tab "plant material by descriptions", and give 3 chars and 4 chars long plant.
please help me to trace the problem or any OSS note.

Custom Search help in Record Working Time
Hi,
We have a requirement to add a custom field on RECORD Working Time ( ESS). This field has been added and custom search help is assigned to the data element of the field. The values in the F4 help should vary based on employees department.
The related code for this requirement is written in the serach help exit. The F4 help is working as expected from backend ( ECC) but not in Portal (ESS).
I have added the custom field in TCATS_SHLP_ITS. After maintaining this table all the values in F4 help are displaying , whereas it should only display the values under employees department in Record Working time.
I understand the class cl_xss_cat_value_help_general is responsible for the search help in ESS is there any user exit or enhancement available for this class in order to control the serach values on ESS.
Thanks in advance.
regards,
Pradeepnote that search help of CAT2 and record working time are different!
these are teh steps
please modify the following in the table TCATS_SHLP_ITS as follows:
1. Execute the T-Code SM31
2. Enter the table name TCATS_SHLP_ITS.
or check the class
CL_XSS_CAT_VALUE_HELP_GENERAL
or check
CL_XSS_CAT_VALUE_HELP*
take an example from Sap note 914125
