Tracing Workflow

Hi,
I m new to workflow. Here wen employee sends a leave request or anything from portal side, how to identify which workflow is triggered for wihch service.
How to trace a perticualr employees events.
If employee faces problem in prd, how to check at PRD.
Its very simple question, but i m new to the WF.
Kindly let me know.
Regards,
Venkat

Hello,
Go to SWI1 and press execute to run the default query (all workitems in the last hour). Start looking for any text involving travel.
If you can't find any, go back to SWI1 and change the start time to 000000.
When you have found one, click on it and look at the workflow log. I'll tell you which workflow it s. If you're lucky, the text in SWI1 may even tell you which Employee it's for.

  • Workflow tracing on waveset

    Hi,
When we perform any actions on Admin interface, some workflow will get executed and every step executed by workflow executor on this Workflow gets written into a files named "true" and "false" in my home directory!!!
These files are too huge. But I'm not sure how to stop this tracing/workflow steps getting redirected to some file. All parameters in Waveset.properties file are set to false and workflow trace option is disabled in system configuration file also.
    Any idea??

    jc,
with flow trace-ip, you can see the TCP or UDP packets coming and going out the CSS.
Also, this command does not display all the packets.
We only see the ones that are process-switched.
A better solution would be to use a sniffer trace in front of the CSS and in the backend side.
You can also check the 'sho ether-error' commands to see if any problem is
    detected by the CSS.
If there is other switches, like Cisco catalyst, use 'sho interface' or 'sho port
    to check for CRC errors.
Regarding your problem, if you have a lot of connections and some of them stays idle for 15 seconds, the CSS might drop them to free resources.
What you usually see in this case is a RESET being sent by the CSS to the client.
One solution to this problem is the flow port timeout command to increase the default 15 seconds timer.
In conclusion, I would suggest to capture a sniffer trace in front of the CSS and see if you have RST.
    Hope this will help.
    Gilles.

  • Tracing Termination Workflow attributes from Manager Self Service

From Self service page on termination, I am setting attributes in a workflow function these attributes are used in the notification that is sent to the users. For a particular scenario I want to trace values of the attributes, is there a way to trace complete flow and attribute values flowing from self service page -> Workflow -> Notification.

Why don't you try with the Wokflow status monitor. There you can check out the activities and check out the values of the attributes i think

  • SharePoint Designer workflow gives Claims Authentication error for some users. Problem getting output claims identity. The specified user or domain group was not found.

We have a SharePoint Enterprise 2013 system at RTM level.  We've installed Workflow Manager 1.0 by following the steps at
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/jj658588.aspx.  For the final step of Validating the Installation we created a simple list-level workflow and verified that the workflow
is invoked successfully.  This is working successfully, but only for a single user.  If other users in the same site collection try to invoke the workflow on this same list we get the ULS Log Error:
Claims Authentication          af3zp Unexpected STS Call Claims Saml: Problem getting output claims identity. Exception: 'Microsoft.SharePoint.SPException: The specified user or domain group was not found. --->
System.Security.Principal.IdentityNotMappedException: Some or all identity references could not be translated.
    followed by:
Failed to issue new security token. Exception: Microsoft.SharePoint.SPException: The specified user or domain group was not found. ---> System.Security.Principal.IdentityNotMappedException: Some or all identity references could not be translated.
    (as details below).
All accounts that are attempting to use the Test Workflow (both working and non-working user accounts) are valid AD accounts and are included in the User Profile Sync that runs nightly.  All have Contribute or Design permission level (and for testing,
    Full Control).
What could cause the Claims Authentication to fail when certain users attempt to launch the workflow?
    Thank you for your response.

    Hi Aries,
I am facing issue with work flow where Workflow goes to Suspend mode.
I am facing an issue with SP2013 Custom Workflow developed using Visual Studio 2012.
Objective of the Custom workflow: User fills the form and submit, list get updated and workflow will initiate and go for the process.
Issue: After the deployment of WF, for first time when user is filling the form and submit, list is getting updated. But the Workflow Goes to "Suspend" mode. (
This Custom Workflow has a configuration file where we are providing other details including ID of Impersonator (farm is running under Claim Based Authentication).
Work flow works fine once when the Impersonator initiate the workflow (Fill the form and submit for approval) and everything works fine after that.
    Following steps are already performed
1.Make sure User profile synchronization is started.
2.Make sure the user is not the SharePoint system user.
3.Make sure the user by whom you are logged is available in User Profile list.
4.Step full synchronization of User Profile Application.
From the ULS logs it seems the user's security token from the STS service and User profile service is not being issued.
    Appreciate any thoughts or solution.
    Following are the log files.

Alternate approach we are following : We have created a windows authenticated user and gave him all the necessary permission to trigger the workflow(contribute, full control). Then we are creating the User token
for that user and opening the site with the help of the generated user token. By this approach workflow is getting triggered.
The problem in this approach is after ¾ days it gives error when trying to kick off workflow from code with user who has not logged in as we are using this AD user only for kickoff purpose.

There is a userprofile for the user and the issue is not a userprofile. We are using direct AD import and we have full sync every 5 minutes. The workflow gets kicked off using a fix user who never logs in but after 4/5 days the token or something gets expired
and then we have to manually login with that user and then only code can kickoff workflow with that particular user.

We can not kickoff with current user as current user can not be given contribute rights and we can not do it with system account as its not able to kickoff using system account by design of sp2013 workflow.
So we need to know how to kcikoff workflow with a user who never logs in or logs in only for the first time and then never in production.
Below code works for few days and then as user does not login with which we kick off workflow the token or something gets expired after 4/5 days.

  • Approval workflow error when creating a new custom entity in FIM 2010 R2

    Hello,
i'm hoping somebody here can help, me i've been struggling with this for some time now. On a fresh FIM installation i create a custom entity named "Role" and add a few custom attributes.
I then create an approval workflow and MPR for normal users to create entities of type Role, but another user must approve this request. The other user has a working mailbox - i've tried firing an action workflow that sends a mail notification when someone
creates a new role and it is working fine. But, when i enable my approval workflow (the only field i changed from default is the approver) on the MPR, the workflow always failes with the message:
Error processing your request: The operation was rejected because of access control policies.
Reason: The server workflow rejected the operation.

  • Workflow Susspend Issue

    Hi All,
I am facing an issue with SP2013 Custom Workflow developed using Visual Studio 2012.

Please check and make sure your User Profile service and User Profile Synchronization service are running, then start a full user profile sync to make sure your users are in user profile service, then check if the workflow is still auto canceled for those
    two users with contribute permission.

  • Troubleshooting Approval workflow issues

We are getting this message from time to time and are unsure how to troubleshoot it.
It seems as though something is changing the document, what is the best way to figure out what?
Approval on DOCUMENT NAME has ended because the item that the task process is running on was changed.

    Hi Daniel,
    1.What message do you get?
    2. Look in the Workflow History list, eg "http://sp2013/Lists/Workflow History". Do you find any errors in there?
    3. Is the user account starting the workflow correctly synchronized in the user profile database?
    4. Is the user account starting the workflow different from the Worflow Manager setup account? (more info at
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/jj658588.aspx#section7)
    5. Are the User Profile Service and App Management Service started? See the green frames in the screenshot below, taken from Central Administration \ Manage Services on Server.
6.Are the App Management Service Application and User Profile Service Application started? Their proxies should be started as well. See the green frames in the screenshot below, taken from

  • Unable to register custom workflow activity on MS CRM 2015 Online

    Hi All,
I am trying to register custom workflow activity using plugin registration tool on MS CRM 2015 Online.

In short my assembly is not considered as custom workflow activity.

                    newContact["new_nextbirthday"] = nextBirthDate;
                    service.Update(newContact);
If code is correct then has somebody faced this kind of issue earlier, what is resolution.
    Thanks

  • Idoc scripting in workflow tokens

    Greetings,
A question for developers: up to what extent of Idoc Script calls can be made inside Workflow tokens? Only the function wfAddUser or other Idoc Script functions as well?
I'm trying to develop a dynamic workflow component that involves reading possible user, alias or ad-hoc metadata values from a database table using a custom Idoc Script function, into a token. So basicly, something like this:
    <$wfAddUser(customIdocScriptFunctionToFetchUsers(dDocType),"user")$>
Is anything like this possible at all? Tests done so far result in the content item entering and exiting the workflow automatically due to probably being unable to load the users, the strange thing is that no erros are being output, not even in the content server output with "workflow" or "idocscript" sections being traced...
The point of this mechanism is to avoid having to create large ammounts of (hidden) metadata to serve as support to store users/alias to be loaded into workflow steps as tokens. Feel free to suggest any other alternatives tho :p
    Thanks in advance,
    - Tiago Vidigal

    Hey Tiago,
Typically you try to limit your token script to just wfAddUser. It is possible to use basically any idoc script in a token but any failure at all will result in the behavior you are seeing with the item skipping straight through the step.
Using your current design here is what I would do:
-In the entry script for that step make your call via the custom script function
-Store the result of the lookup into a workflow variable: <$wfSet("usersForStep", getCustomUsers(dDocType))$>
-do your wfAddUser in the token: <$wfAddUser(wfGet("usersForStep"), "user")$>
-Sidenote: You can add multiple users at once in one wfAddUser call if you pass a comma delimited string of the usernames
Reason this works: the Entry script is always evaluated before a token when entering a step, meaning you can put any complex logic there where it is easier to debug and keep your token code clean.
    Hope that helps,

  • Need to trigger workflow after g/l document posted in FB50

    Hi all
When a user posts a document in FB50 (G/L journal entry), I need it to trigger a workflow.  I can find BTE's that come in to play before the document number is assigned, but I need it triggered after the document number is assigned.  I tried BTE processes 1120 and 1140 but they're too early.  I also looked at many function modules and user exits suggested by various SDN threads but nothing seems to be triggering.
I already have a workflow created using BO BKPF and can trigger it manually, but not through FB50.  There's lots of info on BO FIPP, but I'm looking at posted documents, not parked documents.  Tracing FB50 with SWELS/SWEL doesn't show anything.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Ron

    Hi Ronald,
If you are using ECC 6.0 try to look explicit enhancement, that is kernel BADI (key words: GET BADI and ENHANCEMENT). If there is none also then use implicit enhancement. Implicit enhancement is always available at the beginning and the end of Function Module, Routines, Program, Methods, etc.

  • Workflow For Down-Payment Request

    Hi,
Would like to know if there is a standard workflow associated with a down-payment request when a payment is posted on a customer account against this (down-payment request).
I would also appreciate if a detailed procedure on how a workflow can be traced for such scenarios can be provided.
    Regards,
    Ravi

I can't answer your question with certainty, but I can give you a tip about how to search for the answer in SAP.
I am not quite sure which application component that would be in. I suppose it is somewhere in FI-AR, perhaps FI-AR-AR-MP-PA.
You can use transaction SWDM to find all standard single and multistep tasks. On of the very useful search options is application component. Remember, sometimes a solution is used for several components in an area, so I recommend searching upwards in the hierarchy if you don't find it in the specific component.
E.g. search in FI-AR-AR-MP-PA, then in FI-AR-AR-MP, then in FI-AR-AR and so on.
You can also use SE81, where you can select entire areas or a combination of subareas and search in those. However, for workflow SWDM is probably just as easy.
