Transaction from Jsp

Is it posible to use JTA Transaction from JSP?
          or do I need to user JDBC?
          What is the recomended practice?

You will probably need to get a 3rd party JDBC driver to connect to your IMS database. Another other option would be to write a library that does the necessary JNI calls and then call that library.
Hope this helps -- Jeff

  • Help me to control the transactions from jsp to java bean

    Please anyone can guide me how to control the transactions from jsp to java bean. I am using the Websphere studio 5.1 to develop the database application. I would like to know two method to handle the database. First, I would like to know how I can control the transactions from jsp by using java bean which is auto generated for SQL statement to connect to the database. Following code are jsp and java bean.....
    // call java bean from jsp
    for (i=0;i<10;i++)
    addCourse.execute(yr,sem,stdid,course,sec);
    I write this loop in jsp to call java bean..
    here is java bean for AddCourse.java
    package com.abac.preregist.courseoperation;
    import java.sql.*;
    import com.ibm.db.beans.*;

    I would like to know that how can I do for autocommit from jsp. For example, the looping is 10 times which mean I will add 10 records to the db. If the last record is failed to add to db, "how can I rollback the perivious records?" or guide me to set the commit function to handle that case. Thanks a lot for take your time to read my question.

    Hello.
    The best method is using a session bean and container managed transactions. Other method is using sessions bean and the user transaction object (JTA-JTS).
    so, JDBC has transaction management too.
    good luck.

    plz help me to solve this problem

    Hi,
    The portable way to lookup any resources within a J2EE component is to the private component namespace located under java:comp/env. Even though some products allow you to do a "global" lookup, that's not the preferred approach since it's not portable. Your deployment descriptors need to be changed since you need to define the ejb-local-ref within the descriptor of the client component, which in this case is the jsp. So, you would need to define the ejb-local-ref within the web.xml associated with the jsp. The ejb-ref-name within the ejb-local-ref should be appended to the java:comp/env lookup in your code. So, for your example, the jsp would ctx.lookup("java:comp/env/HelloLocalBean")

  • Calling custom OAF page from JSP page in Oracle apps

    Hi,
    I am working on a requirement to call a Custom OAF page from a JSP page in Oracle apps 11.5.10.
    I have registered the OAF page and defined a function for it. When we call this OAF page from JSP (without parameter), the page opens up
    URL: http://APPSURL:8020/OA_HTML/RF.jsp?function_id=27221&resp_id=50312&resp_appl_id=515&security_group_id=0&lang_code=US
    but as soon as I am trying to pass a parameter sr_id in the URL:
    http://APPSURL:8020/OA_HTML/RF.jsp?function_id=27221&resp_id=50312&resp_appl_id=515&security_group_id=0&lang_code=US&sr_id=106
    we are getting following error:
    You are trying to access a page that is no longer active.
    - The referring page may have come from a previous session. Please select Home to proceed.
    Please let me know if someone has faced the same problem...
    Thanks!!!

    Hi,
    Before calling a OAF page..from external JSP page...u need to set certain mandatory parameter like transaction Id and context.

  • Demarcate and propagate transactions from web components

    Hi,
    Can I start a transaction from within a JSP/Servlet and propagate it to EJBs?
    For example, say there are EJB1.method1 and EJB2.method2, both marked "required". Code a JSP/Servlet like:
    1 UserTransaction tx = ...;
    2 tx.begin();
    3 EJB1.method1();
    4 EJB2.method2();
    5 tx.commit();
    Does it embrace the two EJB methods in one transaction? What if the web components and EJBs are deployed on different servers physically?
    Thanks!
    Sunyu

    I think you probably want to look at a Web services transactions system that integrates with the JTA. That way you can span your transactions across both a loosely coupled and closely coupled environment. There are some examples at www.arjuna.com
    There are several web services transactions specifications out there (OASIS Business Transactions Protocol and IBMs Web Services Transactions, for example). The latter is probably the way to go as it's been designed to interoperate with existing TP systems (it doesn't do that too well at the moment due to "issues" in the spec. but those will be fixed). In addition, JSR 156 is aiming to give J2EE a standard set of interfaces to Web services transactions and interoperability with other J2EE transaction services (JTA and JTS) is high on the agenda.

  • Call transaction from alv

    i am calling a transaction from alv i want to select the check boxes on th called transaction and go to the next screen how do i do that

    Hello Chandan
    You have to handle the DOUBLE_CLICK event either in your callback form routine (FM-based ALV) or event handler method for event USER_COMMAND (ABAP-OO based ALV).
    If you call the transaction directly you will not have the authority check for this transaction. If you need this, you can use function module <b>ABAP4_CALL_TRANSACTION</b> instead.
    If you want to open the transaction in a new window you can use the static method <b>CL_RECA_GUI_SERVICES=>CALL_TRANSACTION</b> (no authority check!).

  • Problem with follow-up transaction from task

    Hello,
    I have a problem with creating follow-up transaction from tasks. Here is the problem,
    I've defined two new transaction types Z010/Z020 with business transaction category BUS2000125 TASK and I want to be able to create follow-up transaction from them. After defining them I've mapped the copying control so that I'm able to create opportunities, tasks and leads from those transaction types. However, when I'm testing there is a problem. Here are the steps I'm performing:
    1: I'm creating a new Task from any of those two transaction types (Z010/Z020)
    2: I'm saving the transaction and then I save it.
    3: Open the transaction More -> Create follow up
    4: A pop-up window appears with the possible follow-up transactions (in this case task/opportunity or lead).
    5: I click on any of those but nothing happens - no indication of error or whatsoever the screen just stays the same and I'm able to click on More -> Create follow up and choose any of the possible entries. However, there is no result.
    I have a requirement for follow up transactions from opportunities and everything works just fine there, the problem is only with Tasks. I've tested this from the backend (CRMD_ORDER) and I'm able to create a follow-up from this transaction types (Z010/Z020), so the problem seems to be something with the CRM UI. If any of you have an idea why is this happening and how to fix it, please tell.
    Thanks in advance!

    Hi John,
    Please refer as well to note 661305:
    this part:
    Note:
    As of CRM 7.0, this modification is no longer required because the IMG
    activity "Activate Copying Control for Activities" is provided (maintaining the
    table/view CRMC_ACT_COPY_SW in transaction SM30). Here you can decide whether
    the copying control for activities and tasks (BUS2000126 and BUS2000125) is
    active or inactive depending on the specific client.
    IMG path
    (transaction SPRO):
    Customer Relationship Management
    -->
    Transactions
    --> Settings for Activities
    --> Activate Copying
    Control for Activities
    In the standard system, the copying control for
    tasks and activities remains inactive.

  • Launching a Discoverer report from jsp page

    Hi
    I have a discoverer workbook created using BI Discoverer (for relational). I want to accept some parameters for this workbook from a jsp page, which will also have a "View report" button. This button when pressed should open up the Discoverer workbook and all the parameters from the jsp should be passed to the workbook.
    Is it possible? If yes, any details on it?
    We do the same thing successfully to launch Oracle Reports from jsps, we simply build the url in the jsp, and from jsp we submit it to a new window, and it opens up the report. Similar functionality we are looking to launch Discoverer reports.
    Any help will be appreciated.
    Thanks
    Shalu

    You can open the workbook with URL parameters with Discoverer Viewer much like you would Oracle Reports. Setting anything form the username, password, workbook name, worksheet, and parameters. All the information can be found in the following document:
    http://download-east.oracle.com/docs/cd/B14099_11/bi.1012/b13918/urlstart.htm
    The specific question your asking is addressed under 13.5.2 Example 2. Let me know if you have any issues

    please help and send the reply on [email protected],[email protected]

    Hi Ashok,
    You can use rwservlet - nothing really to do with JDeveloper. Once you have report server up and running (hint: read http://download-uk.oracle.com/docs/cd/B14099_19/bi.1012/b14048/toc.htm), you can call a report like this:
    http://server:port/rwservlet?report=my_report.rdf&destype=cache&desformat=html&p_my_parameter=xxx etcHope this helps,
    John
