Transfer files from dvr

How to I transfer files from my Scientific Atlanta Explorer 8300HD to my Mac Book Pro? I am using Mountion Lion 10.8.2 OS. I have an HDMI output from the DVR but no USB.

No. The FIOS TV boxes do not allow the transfer of any content to your PC. (DRM) Digital Rights Management issues. Also HDCP High Definition Copy Protection. The firewire port is active if the correct drivers are installed in the PC. This could allow some none protected content to be streamed to your PC, if it is running D-VCR software. Mostly local programming and is a pain to try and use.
2. A.
The software can be used with the non HM-DVR for a 90 day trial, if you go and select Try HM-DVR. But otherwise HM-DVR subscription is required.

Streaming Video is currently being tested. Total funtionality for streaming video from the PC to STB, has yet to be released.

How do you exactly mean: transferring files? Would you like to copy them to the machine with Vista?
And regarding the Excel (*.xls) files, you need Microsoft Excel which is in the Microsoft Office Package. That means if you have no Microsoft Office for Vista then you will need to purchase one to open and edit Excel files.

Your i-device was not designed for unique storage of your media. It is not a backup device and media transfer was designed for you maintaining a master copy of your media on a computer which is itself properly backed up against loss. Syncing is one way, computer to device, updating the device content to the content on the computer, not updating or restoring content on a computer. The exception is iTunes Store purchased content.

Take the exernal drive appart. Take out the harddrive. Try reading the data via a usb adapter. Put a household finan on the hd.

There are several ways by which it can be done. There is a special Migration Assistant for transferring an entire user account from a PC to the Mac. You would have to establish a network connection between the two machines.
Transfer the files you want to an external USB hard drive from the PC then transfer from the external drive to the Mac.
Ask the Apple retailer if they will transfer your data to the new Mac at the time of purchase. You will need to bring the PC with you.
