Transfer film purchases to a new PC

Hello,
I wonder whether you can help me,  this is my first posting on Apple support community.
I have purchased a number of films from apple and backed them up to an external hard drive.  I have purchased a new PC and copied the films and music files from the external drive to the same folder structure on my new PC
When I go into Itunes store and select the purchased items option, it shows the films as not on my PC and wants to download them again ???
Why does it need to download them again.
Thanks for any help
Regards,
Jamie

Hi,
Thanks for the quick response.  I have coppied all of the contents to the new computer but when I click on the "purchased" button from the home page, it still lists all of the films as not being on the computer

  • HT1420 I am trying to sync my iPhone to my computer with a new Apple ID that Ive just created because the original account has been applied on too many computers. iTunes is not allowing me to transfer my purchases with my new account. Help!!

I am trying to synch my iPhone with my computer, and new Apple ID. My iPhone is synced with another computer, but i have changed the Apple ID on my phone and authorized it on my computer. However, i can not transfer my purchases on to my new account. I have updated my phone, authorized the account on both my phone and my computer. And i do not wish to wipe my phone clean, because there is but one song on this new account. How do i transfer the music on my new account?

All content bought/downloaded from iTunes is tied to the account that downloaded it and it can't be transferred to a different account - so you will need to authorise your old account on that computer if you want to transfer its purchases over.

  • HT1848 How do you transfer your purchases with the new iTunes format?

I'm trying to update my iPod but it keeps saying I have to transfer my purchases. But I don't know how to with the new iTunes format...

On iTunes 11 you can do it via File > Devices > Transfer Purchases, or I've changed the view on mine so that the old sidebar shows via View > Show Sidebar and I can then control-click the device (right-click if you are on windows) and select Transfer Purchases from the popup

    Hello Fanzaria,
Congratulations on your new computer!  It sounds like you are trying to transfer your iTunes purchases from your iPod to iTunes on your computer, but you are repeatedly getting an authorization prompt.
Is it possible that some of these songs were purchased with an Apple ID you may have been using at another time?  You mentioned that you don’t see these purchases under your past purchases in the iTunes Store.  I recommend checking to see if they are hidden under your current Apple ID using the steps in the section titled “To unhide your purchases” in the following article:
iTunes Store: Hiding and unhiding purchases
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht4919
If you are not seeing all the songs you expect to see after checking for hidden purchases, I recommend searching for an older Apple ID that you may have used.  Use the steps in this article to find your Apple ID:
Apple ID: How to find your Apple ID
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5625
If you find an alternate Apple ID that you used, authorize iTunes with that Apple ID:
Authorize or deauthorize your Mac or PC
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1420
I also recommend reviewing the following article for the issue you are experiencing.  I recommend reviewing the full article but specifically the section to Remove the SC Info folder:
iTunes repeatedly prompts to authorize computer to play iTunes Store purchases

Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.

  • How do I transfer a purchase to a new iTunes on a new computer

I purchased a sond on one PC through Itunes. Now I want that song on my macbook, but I don't have an Ipod. How do I see that song in the itunes on the new computer?
Itunes immediately synchronized the ballance in dollar amount ( surprize-surprize), but the song.....where do I start. FIrst of all, when I look it up in the itunes on a new computer - it offers to buy it again!!!!
But when I click on it, it says "purchased". So how do I get that song to the this computer? . Oh yeay. "Check for new downloads" menu says that all items are donwloaded, but that's not true!

Go to the iTunes Store. Click on "Purchased" near the upper right part of the iTunes Window. You can re-download all of your previous purchases there.

  • I want to transfer my purchases to my new MacBook Air.

I just recently bought a MacBook Air. I am learning the basics and noticed that the Apps that I have downloaded and purchased on my iPhone (i no longer have an iPhone, I have a HTC One X) is not transferring through to my MacBook's App Store.
Does this mean I will need to re-purchase those Apps that I have already purchased when I had my iPhone?
    To put this into detail:
When I had my iPhone (6 months ago or so) I downloaded and purchased Pages (as well as hundreds of other Apps)
Now that I am using a new MacBook Air, how will I be able to download Pages (as well as those other Apps that I purchased already) on the MacBook at no cost?
I know that users can click the $19.99 << Button when purchasing a previously purchased item, and it will let the user know that they already purchased it in the past. But I am not willing to take the chance of having to re-pay the full price of all the Apps I loved and paid a heafty amount for, and then have to go through the tough "genuis" people at Apple.
So please, whoever knows the answer, please leave a comfortable answer.
    Thank you

Apps designed for iOS do not run on OS X....
But... media files should still run if that's that you mean.

  • Transfer IPOD purchases to new computer from IPOD nano

I am wanting to download my songs from my IPOD nano to my new computer and it wont let me transfer my purchases to the new computer. I have authorize my new computer and it still won't let me. Any thoughts on what I am doing wrong? I am not computer savvy so any direction would need to be very specific!!!

No.  If you try to sync your iPod with a new iTunes library, it'll erase all content from the iPod and replace it with the content that is in the new iTunes library.
So if you need to move data from your iPod back to your new PC first, see this older post from another forum member Zevoneer covering different methods and software available to assist you with this task.

  • How to transfer my iPod to my new MacBook

I just got a new MacBook pro and would like to transfer my music, pictures, etc. from my old computer to my new one. How?

Backup your iTunes libary to an external HD and then restore it to your new computer.
iTunes: Back up your iTunes library by copying to an external hard drive
As an added precaustion, transfer iTunes purchases to the new computer by.
iTunes Store: Transferring purchases from your iOS device or iPod to a computer
    - Connect the iPod to the new computer and make a backup by right clicking on the iPod under Devices iniTunes and select Back Up
    - Restore the iPod from backup
Note that the backup that iTunes makes does not include synced media like apps and music.

  • The transfer of purchased music to a new iphone fails. What to do?

After the home key on my old iPhone 4 failed I bought a new iPhone 5S. To transfer all purchased content to the new device, I transferred the purchased content and pulled a backup from the old unit, then restored the new unit from the backup I just made. All contacts and settings were tranfered successfully, as were all apps.
Ringtones and all purchased music, however, could not be transferred. The files show up in the iTunes library all right, and I can play all content there, but I cannot transfer any of it. Trying to retore the music through the iTunes Store by selecting "not on this iPhone" brings up the following message: "all available content transferred". Yet the library on the phone is empty.
It seems to me like all purchased content (books, music and films) is impossible to transfer or recover. Does anyone have any suggestions other than switching to pirated content from here on forward?
    Many thanks.

Anything you want to transfer, just copy it to a USB flash drive or external hard drive, and from there to the new computer.
If you want to keep your iTunes library intact, as far as playcounts, playlists, etc, a few extra steps are required. First, on the old machine, run Library > Consolidate. Then copy the entire iTunes folder to the external device, and from there to the new machine.

  • How do I transfer my purchased apps from my old ipad to my new ipad?  All with the same Apple ID and Itunes account.

I just purchased a new Ipad with 4G yesterday and I am trying to transfer my purchased apps from my old Ipad to the new one.  We have one Apple ID and one Itunes account that we are using.

Connect the old iPad to your computer, launch iTunes and then sync the iPad. A backup will be created when you sync the iPad and your purchased apps should transfer into your iTunes library on the computer. Just to be safe - manually transfer the purchases as well.
After the sync completes - right click on the iPad name on the left side under "Devices" and select - Transfer Purchases. Let the process complete - and just because I am OCD - I would sync one last time. Eject the iPad and quit iTunes.
Then connect your new iPad to the computer and launch iTunes again. You will be given the opportunity to set up as new or to restore from the backup of the old iPad. Choose backup from the iPad - let the process complete - and then follow that with a sync with iTunes to put all of the content that was on the old iPad onto the new one.

I bought a new computer, and I wanted to download iTunes and start using it to manage my library.  Do I have to transfer all purchased apps to the new computer, or will iTunes do that automatically for me when I sign into my account on the new computer?
