Transferring using AOL and Upgrade Question

I've done some research and saw that I will need to do an AOL to move to my wife's family plan but I had a question about upgrading. Right now I am eligible for the NE2 but my question is if I decide not to use it (because Droid 3 BOGO would be cheaper) would I still be eligible for an upgrade? Since she has an NE2 option right now too wouldn't it be smart for me to go on her plan and get two Droid 3's for 149.99? I just wouldn't want to move over to her line and lose my upgrade.
Also, since someone else is on my plan currently would they just get put on an individual account?
I'm sure this is somewhere but I wanted to ask because I could no find it! Thank you!

If you want to take advantage of the BOGO offer, you'll want to do the AoL first, as you've described.
When you do the AoL, you will lose your New Every 2 credit, but your line will still be eligible for an upgrade, the contract end date will not change.
I think the BOGO will definitely give you a better value than using your NE2 credit, I say go for it!

My Ipad mini does not see my printer. my wife's ipad2 does. We both use IOS8 and upgraded at the same time. How can I remedy this?

    OK great info!
I found 2 possible ethernet to USB adapters:
By "Plugable":  USB 2.0 to ethernet LAN wired network adapter - seems this will work, but I'll contact Plugable.
    2. Apple USB Ethernet Adapter
Easily connect your MacBook Air computer to an Ethernet network with the Apple USB Ethernet Adapter. Small and light, it connects to the USB 2.0 port of your MacBook Air and provides an RJ-45 connector that supports 10/100BASE-T performance.  BUT NOT SURE IF THIS WILL WORK ON ANYTHING BUT a MacBook Air…
    One person commented:
This little gem used to be the device of choice for adding a second Ethernet interface to a Mac Mini Server and I'd been using one that way for about a year. After doing a software update to 10.6.6 it stopped working. Forewarned is forearmed – it appears that Apple is finally enforcing the MacBook Air system requirement.
    Thanks for any additional comments.

  • How can you close an email after reading without either deleting it or saving it somewhere?  I use AOL and it just goes to "old mail" after you have read the email.

How can you close an email in Apple iPad after reading it without deleting it.  I use AOL and in their application it just goes to "old mail" after you have read it.  In Apple's email it stays open. Very annoying.

You cannot actually close an email in the mail app on the iPad. You can tap on the drafts folder or any empty folder that you migh have when you are done reading the email and then the blank white window will appear in the mail app.
The mail app will always show emails otherwise. That is just the way that it works currently on the iPad.

Thank you for any help you can give.

While AOL uses IE as it's browser engine, it's and older version of IE (IE8) that DOESN'T have ActiveX filtering. Only IE10 and IE11 have the filtering.
BTW: If you have AOL software installed, (unless you're on a dialup connection and you NEED it to connect), you're basically taking up nearly a gigabyte of hard drive space for software that DOES NOTHING that the AOL website can't already do with Internet Explorer, or another browser.  I was a "Windows/Mac connectivity specialist" for AOL in 2002 & 2003, and their software is what we geeks call "bloatware", meaning it's FILLED with all kinds of stuff that you'll never possibly use. My advice would be uninstall it altogether. Download Firefox. It's a much better browser than AOL or Internet Explorer. Download and install the Flash Player Plug-in (All other browsers)  and the Shockwave  FULL Installer (All Other Browsers)
For ALL your AOL content, use your Member name and password to login at http://www.aol.com/ where you'll find your AOL Mail, AOL Headlines, your AIM Buddy List, and EVERYTHING that was part of the AOL software, only it's ALL on AOL's servers, not your hard drive.

  • Is there a way to do a spelling quiz in captivate using images and not questions as reference.

Is there a way to do a spelling quiz in captivate using images and not questions as reference. Specifically i want have blank lines underneath an image, where the user looks at the image and types the correct letters to fill in the blank. For example a picture of a dog, with this _ _ _ underneath for the user to fill in, or in some cases perhaps having them fill in the vowel like so "d_g".I must have audio with this , as the students will be able to listen to the audio sound out the word phonetially to help them be able to type it!
    Appreciate any advice! Cheers!

    dear gurus
    i have one production box
    R/3 version 4.6c
    kernel 4.6D sp 1913
    DB version Oracle 8.1.7.4.0
    OS version Solaris 9
    1st QUESTION
if i want to do system copy to new box
    with
    R/3 version 4.6c
    kernel 4.6D sp 1913
    DB version Oracle 8.1.7.4.0
OS version Solaris 10 (changed from solaris 9 to 10)
do i need to do homogenous system copy or heterogenous ?
is there any issues between 4.6c and solaris 10 ?
    2nd question
if 1st question above is not possible, I want to do homogenous system copy with
    R/3 version 4.6c
    kernel 4.6D sp 1913
    DB version Oracle 8.1.7.4.0
    OS version Solaris 9
after that i will upgrade Oracle to 10 and SAP to ECC 6, is it possible to use ECC6 and Solaris 9 ? or do I need to upgrade to Solaris 10 ?
    thanks

Hi AC thanks for your reply, anyway from other forum I got the answer already. please see quote below
but anyway i have another plan b that I need to ask.. just in case the new box is installed with Solaris 10
can you please let me know what is the best approach to do the upgrade, please if possible follow my approach in quote below
    i have one production box
    R/3 version 4.6c 64-bit
    kernel 4.6D sp 1913
    DB version Oracle 8.1.7.4.0 64-bit
    OS version Solaris 9 64-bit
    activities in new box
    install Solaris 9 64-bit + patches
    install Oracle 8.1.7.4.0 64-bit + patches
install R/3 version 4.6c 64-bit (with DB Load from dump from system copy, there is another option to move data file only)
update kernel to latest 4.6d before installing DB instance
upgrade Oracle 2 steps two Oracle 10 + patches
update kernel to 4.6dEX2 (in order to run with Oracle 10)
    start SAP
upgrade to ECC6 sr2 + patches (sr2 because we dont want unicode, sr3 installation must be unicode)

  • Reusing Installation Discs and Upgrade Questions

Is it possible, or even legal, to use the Snow Leopard installation disc that came with my 15 inch Macbook Pro to install the OS onto my 20 inch iMac core 2 duo (its OS is Tiger)?
I have been wanting to update the OS on my desktop for a while and would rather not have to buy another disc when one came with my new laptop.
My other question is when I do go through with upgrading the OS on my desktop, will there be any type of data loss or stability issues?
I've never upgraded the OS on any of my computers before, having to replace a dying computer usually happens long before I need to upgrade the OS.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

    Echoing captfred WRT backups:
Get a bootable, external HD (preferably FireWire, since it's 40-50% faster than USB 2 and designed for data transfers), make a bootable backup/clone before updating/upgrading, and ensure that it's bootable and works like the original. That allows you to revert to the previous good state without having to reinstall or reset anything. See these for details:

  • ATI x1600 and Upgrade questions

I am thinking of investing in a macbook pro. I want to get the 2ghz model but now that there is no 1.83ghz model the 2ghz model get's the x1600 graphics card w/ 128MB instead of 256mb. I want to run Aperture and CS2. Will there be much difference without the extra 128mb of GDDR3 memory?
Also, I was thinking of buying two 1GB DDR2 sticks, should I get the Samsung sticks (Which are hefty in price compared to others) or OWC sticks or something else like memorytogo.com which has micron/elphida sticks... Does it really make a difference which sticks i get?
And lastly, should I upgrade to the 100gb 7200 HDD with apple or get a Hitachi travelstar through another online store? The only drawback from buying from an online store would be having to install everything myself but otherwie would it be worth it?
    thanks in advance.

The extra graphics memory wont help at all for Adobe CS2, but it may for Aperture (since it relies on Apple's QuartzExtreme/CoreVideo/insertbuzzwordhere technologies which leverage the graphics chip), especially if you use it on a large external display. It'll may also help if you connect a second display and use 3D apps or CoreVideo/Quartz apps, since the VRAM is divided by two.
My advice however is to buy the machine with the 256MB VRAM since its not upgradable.
Buy quality RAM from a vendor that offers a good warranty. I've had good luck with Crucial and OWC in the past. My MBP 2.16GHz is running one Apple factory stick and one Crucial right now.
The Apple 7200 RPM hard drive is nice. Its definitely fast, but it does put out a bit more heat. Not hot by any stretch of the word, but the left palm rest over the HD does get warmer than the right. Only a bit, though.
Due to its high data density, the 120GB drive is probably 90% the performance of the 7200 RPM 100GB drive (just an educated guess though), and likely runs a bit cooler, too.

  • Using DPM and maintenance question

Hi We currently utilize DPM on our ESXi cluster. All ESX' hosts are running version 5.0.0 1918656. We have 2 hosts in standby mode currently. A question I had was if I need to perform maintenance on the storage environment, for example I want to decommission a volume no longer in use, do the standby hosts need to powered on first for them to remove the storage of their own hosts properly or can they be left in standby mode?

I'm sure with 5.0/5.1 this was the case and one of the reasons we stopped using DPM.

  • Instalation and upgrade questions.

My daughter has photoshop cs4 via one of the suites (design premium).
It was originally installed on her old computer as a 32 bit version.
She now has a 64 bit machine. I drive imaged the old drive to the new machine and did all the hardware drivers, and it is working perfectly.
    It is vista home premium.
How can she upgrade to the 64 bit version of photoshop without breaking her installation or loosing any of her work?
If I upgrade her OS to windows 7 Pro (x64), will that be a problem?
I have downloaded the master suite trial instalation files onto my drive. My goal is to create an installation dvd set and use it to install trial versions of the various products on a couple of different machines. The entire folder structure is over 8 gig, So i need two DVDs.
How do i split the resulting un compressed master suite installation folders to two dvds so that it functions as an install dvd?
If my son ends up buying just one product (say dreamweaver), Can he unlock the copy of dreamweaver that was installed via the master suite install dvd? or does he have to uninstall the master suite copy and re-install the dreamweaver cs4 download?
If the trial expires, can he unlock it at some point later if he purchases a key?
Does each product within the master suite have its own trial expiration date based on when that particular product was installed? or once you install one product from the master suite install dvd, the date is set for all products?
    Thanks
    Jerry C

How can she upgrade to the 64 bit version of photoshop without breaking her installation or loosing any of her work?
You can't. This can only be done wit ha proper install after the old stuff has been uninstalled. You won't lose any work, the installers only care for their own files, not user-generated data.
If I upgrade her OS to windows 7 Pro (x64), will that be a problem?
Just to be on the safe side, always deactivate, then re-activate after the update.
How do i split the resulting un compressed master suite installation folders to two dvds so that it functions as an install dvd?
You cannot. Installer spanning only works if you downloaded or bought the proper DVD version that is already pre-configured into two separate packages. Use an external hard drive or memory stick to transport the files instead.
Can he unlock the copy of dreamweaver that was installed via the master suite install dvd?
No. Suites ands standalone products have completely different serials and since the DW will be tied to the suite install, a standalone serial won't work.
If the trial expires, can he unlock it at some point later if he purchases a key?
    Yes, that's the plan.
Does each product within the master suite have its own trial expiration date based on when that particular product was installed?
No, the suite is timebombed as a whole, which again relates to how it is supposed to handle serialization with only one number.

Cannot answer you definitely about installing 64 bit Photoshop but I suggest inserting the DVD and installing Photoshop only. The DVD should pick up that you're on a 64 bit OS and offer you 64 bit Photoshop.
I suggest clean installing Windows 7, rather than upgrade installing. That would mean reinstalling all software and drivers but it's the most reliable method in my experience.

I suspect you'll struggle to split Suites to install individual products on various machines (if that's what you mean). Suites are far more than a simple collection of the individual software titles. They're tightly integrated, must be installed on the same machine together and are all tied to a single suite serial number which is unrelated to the individual product serial numbers. I believe the downloaded Suite file has to be installed as one.
I don't know of a way to burn the downloaded file across 2 DVDs.
If your son only purchases Dreamweaver, he'll have to uninstall the Master Suite and re-install the DW download.
If the trial expires, it'll keep showing a Trial has expired screen and you cannot go further. Once you enter a valid serial number, it'll launch normally.
My understanding of the Suites is that all products are integrated. Once the trial version of a single product in the suite is launched, my understanding is that the clock starts ticking for all products in the suite. That said, I have not tried launching individual products in the Trial versions more than 30 days apart.

Our DBE put our test database on 11g2 and our production on 11g1. Due to some ingest failure we wanted to move the data in test(11g2) to production(11g1) using data pump, however I was told that you cannot go from 11g2 to 11g1. I was also told that because the database contained public synonyms that I would have to recreate all public synonyms. he said it had something to do with lbascys. Can someone clarify this for me..

  • 1 1/2 year old dv4t screen failure and upgrade question

Hi, I need some help troublshooting my HP dv4t notebook PC.  First of all, let me mention that I am pretty good with computers as I have my CompTIA A+ and Network+ 2009 certifications and I work full time in a computer store as a repair technician but I need some help here diagnosing my problem.
My dv4t was probably one of the very first ones off the production line as a replacement for my old dv2500 which was given to me by a case manager about a year and a half or so ago.  Within the past few weeks, I have had intermittent backlight issues and then the picture on the screen itself would not come up or would be extremely scrambled.  I thought that it might have been the display cable so I went ahead and ordered a replacement and got it installed and now I have no video on the LCD at all.  The webcam does work, as does the light on the HP logo on the back of the notebook lid.  So I kind of have it narrowed down to either the motherboard or the LCD panel itself but I'm not sure which one it could be.  Does anybody have any ideas of which one is causing my problems?
By the way, I was only given a 1 year warranty, and this is my 4th HP laptop and the first one that actually outlasted it's one year warranty so I'm a bit frustrated that I can't seem to get a computer with any kind of a decent build quality on it.
Also, is it possible to request an upgrade for a component while it is being repaired?  I have the Lightscribe DVD burner currently and I'd like to step up to a blu-ray drive if it is possible.

Yes, I do get a picture with an external monitor.  I talked to HP customer service and they seem to think it is the motherboard.  Considering that I've already tried a new cable, I am thinking that it would be the motherboard.  One thing that happened yesterday when I was diagnosing the computer at work was the new display cable was actually smoking where the cable would normally go from the display assembly to the chassis of the notebook which makes me think even more that its a motherboard.
While I could probably fix it myself for almost half the price of the $398 quote I got from HP, its almost worth the extra money just to not gamble on a $200 part and guess wrong.  Money is tight for us right now and I'd hate to shell out for a motherboard and turn out that its actually a problem with the LCD panel itself.
