Translator.jar file reference in bin/ott in 10gR2 and 10.1.0.4

I was wondering if anyone has noticed if the invalid translator.jar path in the ott file created during the Oracle Server install has been corrected in R2?
I believe there was an unpublished bug 3360534 to correct the invalid reference, but wasn't sure if it was corrected in R2.
I'm downloading R2 now and was wondering if I would need the Companion CD to get the proper translator.jar like in 10.1.0.4
If anyone has noticed already, please let me know.

In case anyone is interested,
The invalid path entry for the translator.jar in the delivered ott file has been removed in 10gR2.

  • Jar file reference

    Hello,
    I try to wrap several jar files(say, a.jar, b.jar, c.jar) in one single jar file(say, one.jar).
The problem here is, the only path I can give is ..\\one.jar. Can I still reference a.jar, b.jar by giving path=c:\one.jar?
    Thanks for the help

    not exactly,
you can write a special class loader that knows how to load jars from inside jars.
Or you can uncompress all the jars, and rezip them into one huge jar.

  • URGENT ! Forms (jar file vs directory and classes)

    Hi,
Our java developper has made an applet that we have to integrate with Forms.
I said that I need a jar file that I will put in the forms90/java directory.
The java developper want's to deploy instead of a jar file the whole directory and sub directory and all classes under the forms90/java.
My question is, are both deployement giving the same result in term of performance on the client side when downloading the classes or the jar file.
I always tought that jar file was better in performance.
What is the best way to deploy our applet?
    Thanks for quick answer.
    Jean-Yves

If you choose jar file client JVM will probably cache your jar. This will increase speed of application loading.
Another benefit is that when you use jar file there is lazy/on demand loading option available (in my experience on demand loading doesn't work out of the box - jar file and all referenced jar files must be indexed). In other words: users that don't use forms that use your applet will not download that jar file (I have used this for FormsGraph example and some custom java application) and they don't have to download all of the jars your jar file references.

  • applet tag regarding JAR file

Is there something wrong with the following applet declaration?
    <applet code = "Sheep2.class" archive="Sheep2.jar" width = 500 height = 300
ALT="If you could run this applet, you'd see a sky, a field, and a moon.">
Your browser is completely ignoring the <APPLET> tag!
    </applet>
Works fine (it seems) on my Windows 98 computer with IE 6.0280, but does not work on the same computer when I access the page calling the applet using AOL's v.9 browser.
I used HtmlConverter to convert the above to Extended version (covering all platforms), and still does not work with AOL's browser. HtmlConverter reported no errors, but now IE shows an error icon in its status bar when I access the page even offline.
Other html files I converted using HtmlConverter work fine with AOL's browser. They don't have "archive" attribute.
What could be going wrong? My guess is JAR file reference is causing problems.

I did more Html Conversion today. I ran one file which didn't show any error mark in the status bar of IE through HtmlConverter. I ran the new file generated by HtmlConverter and an error icon appeared in the status bar of IE. My Java Console didn't show any message. So, it must be an error in the applet related info HtmlConverter generated was not 100% html compliant..
BTW, I started speculating the cause of my applets not working on the computer of oen of my friends is simply that her Java Plug-in cannot handle Swing components' J classes.

  • Is there a way to add jar file in my program

sorry to botter you, but i really need help for this, i really dont know how to do it. i have my prog taht i want to put in jar file, that cause no problem, but my program isnt fully functionnal because he use a jar file (my driver to acces my database) taht i had mount in forte. but i cant put in in my class file, because i want my jar to be able to run everuwhere on any computer taht have the jre installed. so in resume, i want to add jar file in my program... can i have to add it in my jar file, or decomrpesse it and put the folder like org.postgre.mfileshere... ????? i really dont know
    thx to help me

ok If I understood, you need to add a third part Jar
file to your own Jar File App so...
Yes, you can decompress it in a directory tree and
merge it with your application (i.e) if you have a jar
    file like this:
    br.com.yourApp.util
and a third part jar file like this:
    br.com.thirdPart.tools
    br.com.thirdPart.util
you will have these directory trees:
    br/com/yourApp/util/
    br/com/thirdPart/tools/
    br/com/thirdPart/util/
then you can marge it in a unique tree:
    br/com/yourApp/util/
    ....../thirdPart/tools/
    ................/util/
then you can make a new jar file with it...
.....OR YOU CAN ADD THE PATH where your JDBCDrive is
placed to the classpath of your application just using
the -classpath option execution string of you
    application, like this:
    C:\jreHome\bin\java.exe -jar -classpath
    .;C:\someDir\thirdPart.jar yourApp.jar
That's the better way to do it and then everything
    will work! :-)

  • Loading .jar files in oracle

I read the following lines in the site
    http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B10501_01/java.920/a96659/02_load.htm
    Resolving Class Dependencies
Many Java classes contain references to other classes, which is the essence of reusing code. A conventional Java virtual machine searches for classes, ZIP, and JAR files within the directories specified in the CLASSPATH. In contrast, the Oracle Java virtual machine searches database schemas for class objects. With Oracle, you load all Java classes within the database, so you might need to specify where to find the dependent classes for your Java class within the database.
All classes loaded within the database are referred to as class schema objects and are loaded within certain schemas. All JVM classes, such as java.lang., are loaded within PUBLIC. If your classes depend upon other classes you have defined, you will probably load them all within your own schema. For example, if your schema is SCOTT, the database resolver (the database replacement for CLASSPATH) searches the SCOTT schema before PUBLIC. The listing of schemas to search is known as a resolver spec. Resolver specs are for each class, whereas in a classic Java virtual machine, CLASSPATH is global to all classes.*
When locating and resolving the interclass dependencies for classes, the resolver marks each class as valid or invalid, depending on whether all interdependent classes are located. If the class that you load contains a reference to a class that is not found within the appropriate schemas, the class is listed as invalid. Unsuccessful resolution at runtime produces a "class not found" exception. Furthermore, runtime resolution can fail for lack of database resources if the tree of classes is very large.
    Question is ....
do we realy need to mention -resolve option when using load java to load the .jar files?
because... i read some where that when the java procedure gets executed it willl first search for the classes in current schema.... then it finds for the objects in public schema...
now if its searchingg them in current schema why is -resolve required?
    my scenario
i have a base class which calls alll the classes that are inside the .jar file
i loaded the base class first..
then loaded all the .jar files ..
in both the above options the .jar files contains user defined classes... and they are not present in oracle jvm library.. .so how do i need to proceed here?

Correct name resolver or address resolution problems in the referenced class, or correct compilation problems in its source.

  • Starting a jar file.

I am wondering if anyone might have a suggestion to this.
I have created a .jar file from JBuilder using the application option in archive builder. ie the jar file should be able to start just by double clicking it. I take the jar file to one of my other machines and it starts fine. I use the java - jar command and it works fine. I double click it in my Windows XP and I get the error: Java Virtual Machine Launcher - "Could not find the main class. Program will exit."
I did read a case in the postings where a startup file was creating havoc, but I don't think I have any java dependent startup's.
I have tried various things like checking my classpath environment variables, associating the file with Javaw from C:\j2sdk1.4.2_03\bin. Any other comments would be appreciated.
    cheers
    James

Well, I guess I found the answer of some sort. I tried JWhich from the URL http://www.javaworld.com/javaworld/javatips/jw-javatip105.html, but that didn't work. But, what it did do is that it told the O/S that I had changed the jar launch settings when I went into Tools/options/view File Types of explorer and after highlighting the jar extension. This would have come up if I had changed it to something else anyway. I guess I just didn't notice the little message. The GUI gave me an option if I wanted to restore back to original and walla! it now works.
Hope this is of use to you if you come across this problem and not sure what to do.
    cheers..

  • How to use Stylesheets packaged in JAR file

    Hi,
I would like to package XSL files in a JAR. The stylesheet may import other XSL files. For example:
    <xsl:import href="demos.xsl">
    <xsl:import href="table.xsl">
where the original stylesheet and the imported stylesheets (demos.xsl and table.xsl) are all located in this package: com.company.xsl
Is there a way for the transformers to retrieve the files from the JAR?
Possibly another complication is that this JAR file is loaded at runtime.
Any suggestions would be of great help. Thanks!

    Thanks that worked.
However, is it possible to use a relative path? Right now it only works if the absolute path is used:
    <xsl:import href="jar:file:///c:/applications/bin/myjar.jar!/com/company/xsl/table.xsl" />
It would be nice if this worked instead:
    <xsl:import href="jar:file:///./bin/myjar.jar!/com/company/xsl/table.xsl" />

  • Opening a java jar file through a labview program

    Hello,
I need to open a java jar file in labview........this jar file is a GUI with multiple frames and has buttons on each frame help navigate through between frames....i just require the program to open it and close it based on some signals so then i won't have to do it manually

LabVIEW doesn't have any control over what happens in a system exec, as you give the control to the system. You can, however, check the process list through .NET commands and kill the process (You should be able to stop it through "taskkill /F /im java.exe"). Not the prettiest solution, but should work.

  • ? SplashScreen - retrieving an image from a jar file ?

When you want to use the Java SplashScreen you provide a run flag of the form:
    -splash:image.png
Is there a way to have the 'image.png' reference a file in one of the jar files?I don't believe the jar files are loaded by the time SplashScreen activates so that might be why I can't seem to be able to do it, but that was when I checked over a year ago ... have things changed?
Alternatively (and probably the preferred option for me) is there a way to tell the SplashScreen to create an empty splash so that one exists when I use the 'splash.setImageUrl()' method? Currently I have to set the splash image to be some empty/transparent image via:
    -splash:empty.png
Then I set my own desired image via the 'splash.setImageUrl()' method...BUT, I still need to have the 'empty.png' file contained in the root folder of my project and this sucks. I'd like to be able to tell java that I want to create an empty splash, without having to provide an empty image, and then when the splash is created, I can use the image url method as normal to write my own image to the splash display.
    thx.

morgalr, this is independent of code, it's just the splash screen that start up before any code runs so you could do this with any of your projects that you have.
You need to specify splash image via run command of:
    -splash:image.png
so, if you have a jar file that has an image in it, and you place it on your classpath and then try to run your code with
    -splash:package/path/image.png
it doesn't seem to work...you'll know because either you'll see a splash screen or you won't. Note that the splash screen disappears the first time an AWT/Swing event is encountered (ie a frame is displayed, etc) so it may only last a few milliseconds but it still should come up. All of the links that discuss this talk about specifying a path to an images directory, but this images directory has to be in your project root folder and not in the source tree (as best as I can tell through experimentation).
I guess what I would ultimately want would be to be able to create a SplashScreen instance through each program in my project without having to provide a runtime flag that only generates the instance if the provided image is available. If I it still provided a SplashScreen instance then I would be able to use the setImageUrl() method from code to provide the desired image. Also, it would be nice if the splashscreen remained some set time even after the application window popped up with an AWT/Swing event that now causes it to disappear instantly...but that one I can overcome with my own JWindow post-splash display that mimics the effect.
    thanks.

  • Using External JAR file within Web Dynpro DC

    Hi,
I have created a Web Dynpro DC and I need to use an external JAR file.
I want to use this external JAR file within the same Web Dynpro DC and NOT creating another DC to house the external JAR file as I can see from the blog.
I have included the external JAR file in the "lib" folder of the Web Dynpro DC.
When I tried to perform a DC build, it keeps complaining error....
How should I solve this problem...

  • How to automount jAR file in Linux!

    hello,
I am create JAR file. I want to put this JAR file in CD and if an user in linux platform can ablet to locate this JAR file in /usr/bin/myjar folder and open through java -jar jarFile.jar cmd using shell script. Is it possible to uto mount and auto run that JAR file in Linux.
How can find whether JRE is already installed in a system or not.

    Hi,
Is the Linux your client Platcform? If you want to execute something in the client, you need to use Webutil.
    You can use something like,
You can use Client_Host from webutil to invoke an editor (say gedit for linux).

  • Mac jar files or something close

Is there somehwere where I can download the mac jar files? Not the .bin files or the .hfx files. Just simply the jar files. I am going to pound and beat on them until I can get a mac look and feel like Jext(www.Jext.com) does on windows. Or if that fails, can anyone give me a better less painful idea? Or is it easy to create your own minimal llok and feel?????

I take issue with your assertion that my post wasn't "helpful". True, I had no information to offer you, but other folks who went to the link you (stupidly) provided would think that you're an idiot because it mentions nothing about a text editor.

  • Multiple repeat downloads of applet jar file

We have an applet that is downloaded from a Weblogic server. The applet is packaged as a jar file. Some of the testers have been complaining that the applet is extremely slow to start up.
The applet start-up involves three phases. In a first phase, it fetches data from the server. This phase seems to execute in pretty much constant time. During the second and third phases, it constructs a UI using Swing objects. The UI includes some JPEG files, which are extracted from the applet's own jar file.
Testers report that the slow part of start-up is actually the UI setup. This should theoretically not be network-bound at all. But packet tracing reveals that during this phase, there's a large amount of network traffic going on. It turns out that there are multiple GET requests for the applet jar file being issued. Typically, 29 requests are issued in all; just for reference, the applet is required to extract 28 images from its jar file, so it looks as if the additional requests correspond to image requests.
One further detail: this does not occur where there is a fast connection to the server. In these cases, the applet is downloaded once. It looks as if the problem only occurs on slower network connections, and the speculation here is that the applet jar is somehow being downloaded only partially, so that requests for images somehow trigger a re-request of the jar file.
Has anyone seen anything similar and, more to the point, is there a fix or workaround?
Technical details: Internet Explorer 5.5 or 6.0, JRE version 1.4.2_01 Java HotSpot(TM) Client VM (on the client), WebLogic 8.1 (on the server)
Thanks in advance for any help.

    Ok.
I have been trying hard and found the solution. One of the ablove posting says that it works under java 1.4.1 plug-in. That's infact absolutely true. It also says that how to run client using JRE 1.4.2 or higher. That can be solved two. This is definitely a bug with the 1.4.2 plug-in.
Follow this procedure that will solve the mystry.
    ----------------------start ---------------------------------
    Problem
Download of applet is very slow
    Why?
This was happening because of the repeated download of the applet jars by the applet plug in controller. It is quite clear that the Java 1.4.2 plug in controller has a bug that causes the plug in to download same jar files multiple times irrespective of Jar cache in the client side (configurable from client side using the Java plug in control panel) is enabled or disabled. Therefore, we have moved from 1.4.2 plug in to 1.4.1 (controlled from our client (JSP) code) that works fine.
What the client (applet client) should do?
You must do the following in the client side in order to avoid the long download time for applet when running from a browser. We have also found that the browser actually do not matter in slow applet downloads. It is only the plug in that does control the applet download.
Irrespective of what JVM you have already installed (or not yet installed) please do the following:
    1. Download the JRE 1.4.2 from http://java.sun.com/products/archive/index.html
-At the time of its installation if it shows that the "JRE is already installed do you uninstall it?" Go ahead and uninstall the JRE 1.4.2. After the un-installation again install the JRE 1.4.2
-If it does not have the JRE 1.4.2 already installed, then you will see any warning window and you will be able to install the 1.4.2 JRE successfully.
    2. Now, go to the same link and install JRE 1.4.1.
-If this JRE already installed, uninstall first like the step 1 above. then reinstall it.
    3. Now, after successful installation of the JRE 1.4.1, open the Plug-In control panel.
-You will find the list of control panel(s) in the Start->Control Panel window. Use the control panel that shows the version number 1.4.1. If no version number shown then use the one that do not show any version number at its end.
    4. Do the following on the Plug-In control panel.
-Verify if this is the 1.4.1 plug in control panel? Go to the "About" tab to see if it shows 1.4.1.
If it does not show the 1.4.1 (or 1.4.1_x) then plug in was not installed correctly. Reinstall the 1.4.1 JRE following the step in no-2
-Go to "Basic" tab and select "Show console" radio button.
-Go to "Advanced" tab and from the drop down select "JRE ...1.4.2" from the "Java Runtime Environment" drop down box.
-Go to "Browser" tab and select all that in the "Settings" box applicable for browsers.
-Go to "Cache" select "Enable Caching" if it is not selected currently. Select "Unlimited" from "Size" options.
Now hit "Apply" button at the bottom and close the control panel using the 'X'.
    5. Restart your Windows machine.
    6. You are ready to run the applet from any of the browser (IE, NS, etc.)

  • Sharing jar files across multiple web sites

    Dear all,
We have an applet as part of an embedded device. I wish to share the jar files across multiple devices. i.e. Accessing 192.168.0.1 shouldn't download the jar files again if the same jar files exist in the cache as a result of download from 192.168.0.2. We are having very large applet jar files, hence reducing download times is a top priority. Is there some way to do that ? Will java web start help in this ?
    regards,
    Jay

generally for avoiding applet downloading again the best solution is to use applet cahing, just add cache_archive in your html code (for full reference please go to the jdk javadoc ). Of course the problem are diffrent ips 192.168.0.1 and 192.168.0.2, applet caching will work ONLY for one ip, when you serv second sever name/diffrent ip client jvm will treat this applet as something new and will download it . The best solution i think is to sever everything on one server page/ip etc, but as you mentioned it is not good solution.
Well you can make it if you want to serve your big jar file on diffrent ips/severs, How? You should ctreate small certified applet jar , inside it should be code that will download your huge jar file from any location you want and store IT on CLIENT machine, becouse that jar will be certified so applet with file functions will not ask user to accept dialogs etc, so that applet will create locall on client machine little cache were all files that were downloaded will be stored. And again when user will acess your page that small certfied jar file will check if cache folder exist and if inside it is your huge file.
    cheers
