Transport package creation

Hi,
what are the settings that i have to specify at the time of creation of package in se80 in BI system.
best regards

Just enter a package name and press enter.  A message box will prompt you stating there is no package by that name do you want to create.

    Hi,
We have recently migrated from EP6 to EP7. While creating transport package in EP7, I found that the "include dependent" option is no more there in EP7. Can someone tell me how do we include dependent objects in EP7.
       Thank you.

    Mukesh,
In the Properties pull down list, select "Export Settings" and click "Resolve References" Radio button to Yes.

2, When i create a report and save it in this package BBP_ESI, its giving error Customer object PROG ZFCI_BBP_ESI_IDOC_SETUP cannot be assigned to package BBP_ESI . Please let me know why i am getting this error .

see SAP documentation for package naming convention:
    Packages
The following namespaces are available for packages:
Package names beginning with a letter from A to S, or from U to X.
Package names beginning with these letters are reserved for objects of the SAP standard system from the SAP namespace. You cannot create customer objects or objects from prefix namespaces in these packages.
Note that the package name must be no more than 30 characters long. The name of the main package should reflect the content of the package Adjacent packages should have similar names.
The Transport Organizer records changes to objects in these packages, so that they can be transported.
These packages belong to the "SAP" transport layer and are assigned to an SAP software component (such as SAP_BASIS, SAP_APPL).
Package names beginning with Y or Z
You can create customer-specific objects from the customer namespace in these packages.
The Transport Organizer records changes to objects in these packages, so that they can be transported, provided the SAP System has been set up appropriately. (For more information, see Setting the System Change Option). These packages are assigned to the software component HOME.
    So create the packages accordingly...

  • Transporting packages

    Hi experts
I'm doing BW transports to production.. I'm getting some errors, and along with those errors the information that packages Z_INFOOBJECT does not exist in prd system.
I've checked SE80, and indeed that packages does not exist in prd
    1) would this impact the transport? ie, would a object not be transported if that package does not exist in PRD
    2) how can i transport missing packages? i've created an order with the missing packages that ended with no error, but packages do not exist in PRD. Can you give me a step by step on how to create a order with those pacakges.
This is quite urgent so i appreciate your help!
    Many thanks
    Joana

    Hi,
Check the below pdf it actually addresses about reverse transport mechanism but it also deals with transport mechanism and steps that needs to be followed. It also talks about package creation and transportation of the same.
    SE03 T-CODE is also helpful.

  • Returnable Transport Packaging Material In ASN ( EDI -856)

    Hi,
We are working on inbound delivery creation with returnable transport packaging (RTP) materials. We want to create inbound delivery with RTP and we are passing RTP material in E1EDL24 without reference document (i.e. purchase order or PSA) as we are receiving without any reference.
We are using message type # DESADV & Basic type:DELVRY03. Currently, IDOC is failing and it's looking for reference PO for RTP material but we don't have RTP item on PO.
Any suggestion/guidance on how to handle RTP material with ASN and create inbound delivery with RTP material ? In otherword, I am looking for IDOC segement mandatory fields for RTP material.(Note : I can add item in inbound delivery without any reference but not able to do with ASN)
    Thanks.
    Regards,
    Ravi

    Hi Velu,
This scenario can be automated as well in BOM.
While maintaining the BOM for the subcontracting material, include the packaging component as twice, but one with negative quantity. PFB screen shot.
Also turn of the costing relevancy indicator and maintain material provision indicator as "K"(customer material) for both the line item.
So while doing GR for the sub contracting, system post automatically 543 and 545. Hope this is useful, if it is so, your rewards are awaited .

    Sekhar,
Please check the transport_logger trace (logs/transport.log) to troubleshoot transport problems.

  • Error while importing Transport Package ?

    Hi,
I have created a Transport Package which includes the following things :
    1. Two folders
    2. Two iViews
    3. one .par file
I am trying to Import the above package by choosing the option 'Source for package file - client' and then browsing where my .epa file is placed.
When i click the Upload Button I am getting the following error -
'Error extracting the package file. Check the log file for details'
What can be reason for this error?
    Regards,
    Vikas Khandpur

    Hi Vikas
It is not generally advised to Package a .PAR file into a .EPA file. Because a .PAR file may depend on parts that are not included in the .EPA file which might cause incosistent transports.
You can directly upload a .PAR file into the Portal. Just go to System Administration -> Support -> Portal Runtime -> Administration Console and upolad the .PAR file.
Try removing the .PAR file from the Transport Package and download the exported .EPA file. Import this new file and see if it works this time.
    Hope that helped

  • Transport layer and transport package

I have a fundamental query on transport package and layer.
Objects are classified in packages depending on the project and put in $TMP or test package else they are local ? Only objects belonging to a transport package can be transported , others are not ? How transport package is defined ? All objects must be a part of transport package else can not be transported ?
ABout transport layer, I understand this is used to define which path objects will take during transport particularly when there are multiple transport routes. But what are the advantages of it ? How we can define it (trx code/menu path) ?
Is it mandatory to use transport package and layers ?

    Hi Mike,
Just to clarify a few basic concepts:
A transport package (formerly called a "development class", a term you may still encounter) groups related development objects. Whenever you create a new development object (table, program, ...) you have to assign it to a package; the object is then placed into a transport request. Alternatively you can indicate it is a local object (its package is then "$TMP") but such an object is non-transportable.
A transport layer identifies the route that transportable devmt objects must follow. Typically in your system you will have two layers: a layer usually called Zxxx (with xxx = SID of your development system) is used for your own developments. Another layer called "SAP" is used for transporting SAP objects, for example changes to standard SAP code implemented via transaction SNOTE and recorded in repairs. Without the "SAP" layer in place, repairs would be non-transportable.
Each transport package belongs to a layer. You assign the layer when you create a new package in transaction SE80. You can change the layer later on, but this is rarely needed and can cause quite a few side-effects. SAP objects always have layer "SAP". The layers themselves are managed in STMS, under "Transport Routes".
    Hope this clarifies things,
    Rgds, Mark

  • Portal Run time error when created a seperate role for Transport package.

    Hi Experts,
I have created a seperate role for Transport Package(import/export iviews).
Normally we have transport package functionality in system admin.
Below steps i followed for creating the new role(trans admin)
1.Copied SAP provided system admin role to a seperate folder.
2.Deleted reamining portal objects(like UWL, portal display etc ..) except transport packege workset.
3.Renamed the role to trans admin.
I have assigned that role to my self, it is working fine to me when i clcik on export and import.I have super admin role.
when i assign this role to some portal users, Export is not working.
when user clicks on Export role they are getting below error.
    Portal Runtime Error
An exception occurred while processing a request for :
    iView : N/A
    Component Name : N/A
    Access denied (Object(s): com.sap.portal.system/security/sap.com/NetWeaver.Portal/medium_safety/com.sap.portal.appdesigner.contentcatalog/components/Framework).
    Exception id: 12:10_31/08/09_0031_21763550
See the details for the exception ID in the log file
By looking into exception iD also, same error access denied it is showing.
    Please Advice.
    Thanks
    Sony.

    Hi Raghu,
    Thanks for the reply.
I have given full permissions to all users to this trans admin role before itself.
    Thanks in advance.

  • How to create a security role to delegate package creation and deployment?

    Hi,
I am new to SCCM 2012 and I would like to delegate packaging and deployment based on an AD container and user. For example, I have a US-SCCM-Admin account created in the US OU in Active Directory. I also have computers in the US Computers OU in AD. I am
not sure what settings I need so that the US-SCCM-Admin account only has rights to create and deploy packages to the US OU and no where else? I added US-SCCM-Admin security group from AD to the "Administrative Users" group in SCCM. But now I need
to configure a role for this group but I am not sure which one to copy or import? I tried copying the "Application Deployment Manager" role and renaming it appropriately but when I login to SCCM as this user, they dont have the option to create or
deploy packages? Does anyone have a simple step by step on this or explanation on what to do to delegate package creation and deployment based on the user in an AD group? TIA

The Application Deployment Manager role is only allowed to deploy an already existing application. You would have to use the
    Application Administrator role instead.

  • Returnable transport packaging for Subcontracting material

    Dear All,
I have a doubt regarding a new process to be followed in our company. We need to issue raw material to our subcontractor for processing. We also intend to send packaging material to the subcontractor along with the raw material. Ie We are sending the raw material to the subcontractor along with the packaging material ( say, in boxes).
I would like to know how to address this issue.
    What We tried
Standard SAP is allowing the vendor's Packaging material to be "received" from the vendor when we Purchase material from the vendor using movement type 501 'M'. After this, we are able to see this as a "special stock" as RTP ( Returnable Transport Packaging ) in T code MMBE. After this we can issue the packaging material  back to the vendor using movement type 502 'M' . There is also a provision to send " our" packaging material to a customer through a Sale order, and receive it back from them.
But is there any standard process for sending "our" packaging to a subcontractor and receiving it back from them ?
We also tried including the packaging material in BOM, and sending it through 541 movement  but in this case, when we perform Goods receipt ( 101 movement of the parent material ), the packaging material gets consumed, which should not happen. We want them back in stock.
We also tried using the option "Non - Ordered item" for the packaging material while performing Goods Receipt of the parent material. But this would increase the stock of the packaging material without us even issuing the same to the vendor initially. ie  More stock will be there than is actually present.
So how else do we address this issue ?
    Regards,
    Velu

    Hi Velu,
This scenario can be automated as well in BOM.

  • Assigning query elements to a transportable package

    Hi experts,
when i create a query and want to transport it i have to assign it to a transportable package. The problem is that a query has a big number of elements which are assigned the package &TMP. I have to assign all these elements to a transportable package to transport. Is there a possiblility to assign all of it to a transprtable package in one step?
Thanks for your help in advance.
    Best Regards,
    Ali

    Hi Ali,
I know this is more manual work.
But you can do this way -->
In the transport connector you have a push button called PACKAGE. Click on it and here you can filter on ibject type as ELEM now you will get all the elemements which are there in your system.
Now you need to select the required ELEM which are belongs to your query and then say OK this will prompt a popup to change the package. Now you can change the package here and then refresh the screen to see the changes.
    Hope this resolves your issue.
    Thanks
