Transportaion and Lock Objects

Hi...
While transporting objects what are all the problems we may get and list some problems what you came across while transporting an objects.
What are all Lock obects how they will be created and how to unlock the objects...?
  Please give step step procedure.
Thanx in Advance.
Vasu.

hi Vasu,
most common problem in transporting objects is the dependency objects are not transported yet in qa/production system, the other the objects change directly in qa/production, hence it's lock in request.
lock objects happened when the objects are included in transport request (manual or object change), we can unlock the objects by release the request, or delete certain object individually from the request.
take a look following about transport.
hope this helps.

  • Adaptive RFC and Locking Objects from WD Java

    Hi,
There are some pieces of information available on this subject but no coherent and easy to follow "manual". Also some questions remain.
I'd rate this a very important, i.e. "business critical" problem. Therefore I would appreciate your help to get things sorted in this thread.
So let's start with a summary of what I think I understood so far (corrections welcome!):
    - You can call RFCs from WebDynpro and locking will work (on the ABAP side).
    - Once you release your JCo connection the locks will be released, though.
    - Therefore, to keep a lock in between requests you have to keep the connection.
    - You can keep the connection by passing WDModelScopeType.APPLICATION_SCOPE or WDModelScopeType.COMPONENT_SCOPE to the constructor of the model class.
    - You can lookup the default scope for a model using
         WDModelScopeType defaultScope = WDModelFactory.lookupDefaultScopeForModel((Class) modelClazz);
Now suppose you have many users, each holding some locks.
Would you not easily run out of JCo connections? On the other hand by default WebDynpro RFC Models seem to keep a connection per application instance (= user session).
Using WDModelScopeType: Do you really need to code this or can you just configure this during design time for the deployment?
blog=/pub/wlg/1061 claims the default is APPLICATION_SCOPE.
Will connections (and thus locks) be released automatically on an HttpSession timeout? I guess so because this means the end of the application and therefore end of scope WDModelScopeType.APPLICATION_SCOPE and WDModelScopeType.COMPONENT_SCOPE.
I'm also not clear about this:
    /people/sap.user72/blog/2005/01/08/adaptive-rfc-models-in-web-dynprosome-pointers
"But to ensure that the record remains locked it is necessary reserve the connection that was used for locking and be made unavailable for other models and also the connection should remain open as long as the lifetime of the screen. This becomes similar to locking records through SAP Gui . This can be easily achieved by having separate models for locking RFCs defined with APPLICATION_SCOPE and isolating its connection by not grouping with other model objects."
What does "reserve the connection" mean?
Suppose you lock some object and afterwards want to allow the user to request more information about this or other objects.
Would you need to use a different connection for that?
Suppose you want to lock two objects.
Would you need to use two different connections for that?
Suppose you want to edit both objects and save the changes inside one transaction (with atomicity). A transaction normally is associated with a single connection (unless XA protocol is used). So how would this work?
What will cause the locks to be released?
    - Application expiration (timeout)
    - RFC that explicitely releases locks
    - Transaction commit/rollback (?)
    Reference:
I found some of the information and further pointers in the blog mentioned above and here:

    Hi,
This for If you send destination params are different u sent it thru URL param only.
For that u need generate URL by using the application .
For that purpose u need to create two applications u can call the first application in second application u can create URL and send Destination params with URL only.
Other wise u can create the par file that would be configured in portal and thru worksets u can pass the params like u mention the destinations.
Or at the time generationg URLS only u can add the destination names.
    Thanks,

  • InDesign CS5.5 - locked objects and align tools not working together

In earlier versions of InDesign I used the Align palette, spacing 0 mm, and "dragged in" other objects to perfect fit to the center object. InDesign drags in objects from the right this way. So if I needed to drag in objects from the left side I locked the center object first and InDesign understood what I wanted to do.
In CS5 and 5.5 this is not possible anymore. If I lock an object it is not selectable. But there is a preference setting for this so I change it. Now I can select the locked object. But when I try to align it with another object there is an error message saying I can't move this object because it i locked. Well... I am not trying to move it hence the lock I applied...
I don't understand this changed behaviour. If a locked object is out of play I might as well use the layer palette and lock objects that way.
Could someone please shed some light on this?

Apparently the distribute spacing command only uses the top object as a reference. I would say that's a bug.

  • Regarding Lock Object

    Hi Experts,
Can you please guide me how i can find out the lock object name. If i know the table name. is there any table which stores the table name and lock object name for that table.
Or any function module to which i can pass table name in return i can get lock object name.
i have to do all this by coding.
    Its very urgect.
    Thanks in advance.

  • Where do I use These lock object FM's (Enqueue & D? and How do I use them?

I created lock object for user defined table (zconsist). The system automatically created 2 FM's (Enquiue & Dequeue).
I created a new TCode and accessing this with mulitple users to do some updates and inserts in that above table.
I used INSERT ZCONSIST statement in 5 places in my program (4 include programs).
Where do I use These FM's? and How do I use them?
I mean before inserting which FM I need to use? after immediately what fm used?.
every insert statemnt before i need to use the respective fm? so 5 places i need to call the respective FM is it right?

Normally ABAPers will create the Lock objects, because we know when to lock and how to lock and where to lock the Object then after completing our updations we unlock the Objects in the Tables

purpose: If multiple user try to access a database object, inconsistency may occer. To avoid that inconsistency and to let multiple user give the accessibility of the database objects the locking mechanism is used.

    1. enque_lockobject

before updating any table first we lock the table by calling enque_lockobject fm and then after updating we release the lock by deque_lockobject.

  • Differeence between Lock object and enqueue_e_table

    Hi  ,
what is diff between Lock object and enque_e_table.  Where to use enqueue_e_table and where to use lock object.
I think with a lock object i can lock more than one table (passing tables  in secondary table). Please correct me.

A lock object does not really "lock a table" though most of lock objects refer to a database table.
    I explain:
The principle is that when 2 programs lock at the same time with the same lock object, only the first will succeed.
If you have a program which does not use the lock, it may update the database table without any problem.
All programs which update a table have to use the same lock object. Note that users are always able to update this table via SM30 as they don't know the lock object to be used.
enqueue_xxxx is the name of the generated function module used to lock the xxxx lock object. E_TABLE lock is ONLY used by SM30 if I remember well, so that to prevent one table from being updated via SM30 by 2 persons at the same time. But it is not related at all with programs which would also update this table.

  • Lock Object: Enqueue and Dequeue

    Hi
Im using VB.Net, SAP .Net to do data entry, updates to
    SAP R/3.
Now, I need to lock the data during user changes on
    particular documents.
What I done is I created a lock object in SE11. Then
it produce 2 functions which are the ENQUEUE and
    DEQUEUE.
Since the data reading from Non-SAP, I check for Allow
RFC and my lock mode is Exclusive and Cumulative.
After that, I also created a remote-enabled RFCs to be
call from VB.Net. These RFCs is calling the ENQUEUE
    and DEQUEUE.
When I tested in SAP itself, the locking data is
working perfectly. I checked in SM12, it does shows
    the locking entry.
But when I try in VB.Net and call the function
modules, it does not shows any entry in SM12. It is
    like nothing happen at all.
After that, I do little test. Firstly I lock the data
from SAP then I run VB.Net, and it does shows the
message who is currently locking the data.
Anybody could help me on this?
    Thank you.
    Regards.

See the following extract from documentation. Check if your lock object definition is satisfying all of them.
<i>Reference Fields for RFC-Enabled Lock Objects
The type of an RFC-enabled function module must be completely defined. The parameters of the generated function module therefore have the following reference fields for RFC-enabled lock objects:

    hi all
i would like to know about lock object and authority check specifically in reports. there is a coding in sap library with regard to authority check, but there is no coding to restrict user (i mean there is no user names that the object is restricting for a particular user or any user has got permission to change or display object).

  • Lock object for table KNVP and KNVK

    Hello Friends,
Can you please tell me the standard lock object for the table KNVP and KNVK.
    Thank and regards,
    Kuldeep

    Hi
    see this and do accordingly
Lock objects are use in SAP to avoid the inconsistancy at the time of data is being insert/change into database.
SAP Provide three type of Lock objects.
    - Read Lock(Shared Locked)
protects read access to an object. The read lock allows other transactions read access but not write access to
the locked area of the table
    - Write Lock(exclusive lock)
protects write access to an object. The write lock allows other transactions neither read nor write access to
the locked area of the table.
    - Enhanced write lock (exclusive lock without cumulating)
works like a write lock except that the enhanced write lock also protects from further accesses from the
    same transaction.
You can create a lock on a object of SAP thorugh transaction SE11 and enter any meaningful name start with EZ Example EZTEST_LOCK.
Use: you can see in almost all transaction when you are open an object in Change mode SAP could not allow to any other user to open the same object in change mode.
Example: in HR when we are enter a personal number in master data maintainance screen SAP can't allow to any other user to use same personal number for changes.
    Technicaly:
When you create a lock object System automatically creat two function module.
    1. ENQUEUE_<Lockobject name>. to insert the object in a queue.
    2. DEQUEUE_<Lockobject name>. To remove the object is being queued through above FM.
You have to use these function module in your program.
    check this link for example.

Steps: first we create a loc object in se11 . Suppose for a table mara. It will create two functional module.:
    1. enque_lockobject
    1. deque_lockobject
before updating any table first we lock the table by calling enque_lockobject fm and then after updating we release the lock by deque_lockobject.

    GO TO SE11
Select the radio button "Lock object"..
Give the name starts with EZ or EY..
    Example: EYTEST
    Press Create button..
    Give the short description..
Example: Lock object for table ZTABLE..
In the tables tab..Give the table name..
    Example: ZTABLE
    Save and generate..
Your lock object is now created..You can see the LOCK MODULES..
In the menu ..GOTO -> LOCK MODULES..There you can see the ENQUEUE and DEQUEUE function

  • How to transport Enqueue and Dequeue Objects / Lock Objects / R3

    Hi Gurus,
i have created two lock Objects.
I transported those objects in Q system but the table tab has no objects.
But in Dev every thing is correct.
Could you please indicate how i can get the objects correctly transported?
    Thanks

Easy and best approach is by getting them re transported by using transport of copy request (Type of request)
    1) Get the Transport of copy request created by basis team / urself under your user.
    2) Go to SE10 and highlight the request and click on include objects icon
    3) Later in the pop up window select the radio button which mentions "Include free objects"
    4) Then in the next screen mention the details based on the attributes of the Enque and deque object or else provide the package name and execute and in the next screen choose the concerned enque and deque objects and include them in the request.
    5) Transport the Transport of copy to quality.
    Also, more easiest is.
Find out the task of the request with with the enque and deque objects were created with (if more than one select all), and then include the tasks in the transport of copy and transport it to next system
If you are not able to do the above two steps then i think the object is $TMP object, kindly cross check.
    Cheers

  • Different _scope parameter of Enqueue_ lock object and Dequeue_ lock objec

    Hi, all.
When we create lock object and generate enqueue_<lock object> and
dequeue_<lock object>, the default value of _scope is
    enqueue : _scope = 2(update owner only)
dequeue : _scope = 3(for both dialog owner and update owner).
Does anyone tell me the reason of this different default values?
i read help.sap.com - lock related help but i couldn't get the idea
of these different default values between enqueue and dequeue.
    Best Regards.
    Sejoon

    Hi,
When you use ENQUEUE, the owner is going to lock that record. So at that time, the only person who can modify the record in the one who has locked it using ENQUEUE. So only he needs to be informed.
Whereas when you use DEQUEUE, the owner who has locked the record and processed it + the 2nd user who wants to lock it needs to be informed. Hence it is to update the 1st User(who has done the update and planning to release the lock) + 2nd User(who wants to do the update and planning to lock the record ).
    Best regards,

  • About lock object and how to create it

    Hi ABAP gurus,
Can any one explain about the Lock Objects and How to create Lock object step by step.
    Rgds,

    Hi Rangamma,
    Check this info.

  • What is the use for lock object and how to use the lock objects

    Hi Guru's,
I am new to ABAP .Can you please clarify the that what is the use of lock object and how to use the loct object .what is use of the Deque & Enque  function modules .

    hi ,
below are some minfo about lock objects :
      Lock Objects
These types of objects are used for locking the access to database records in table. This mechanism is used to enforce data integrity that is two users cannot update the same data at the same time. With lock objects you can lock table-field or whole table.
In a system where many users can access the same data, it becomes necessary to control the access to the data. In R/3 system this access control is built-in on database tables. Developers can also lock objects over table records.
To lock an object you need to call standard functions, which are automatically generated while defining the lock object in ABAP/4 dictionary. This locking system is independent of the locking mechanism used by the R/3 system. This mechanism also defines LUW i.e. Logical Unit of Work. Whenever an object is locked, either by in built locking mechanism or by function modules, it creates corresponding entry in global system table i.e. table is locked. The system automatically releases the lock at the end of transaction. The LUW starts when a lock entry is created in the system table and ends when the lock is released.
    Creating Lock Objects
Lock object is an aggregated dictionary object and can be defined by using the following steps:
o From initial data dictionary screen, enter the name for the object, Click Lock object radiobutton and then click on Create. The system displays a dialog box for Maintain Lock Objects screen
o Enter short text as usual and the name for primary table.
    -Save
    -Select Tables option
    From this screen you can:
Select secondary tables, if any, linked by foreign key relationship.
Fields for the lock objects. This option allows you to select fields for objects (R/3 system allows locking up to record level). Lock object argument are not selected by user but are imposed by the system and includes all the primary keys for the table.
    1) Exclusive lock: The locked data can only be displayed or edited by a single user. A request for another exclusive lock or for a shared lock is rejected.
    2) Shared lock: More than one user can access the locked data at the same time in display mode. A request for another shared lock is accepted, even if it comes from another user. An exclusive lock is rejected.
    3) Exclusive but not cumulative: Exclusive locks can be requested several times from the same transaction and are processed successively. In contrast, exclusive but not cumulative locks can be called only once from the same transaction. All other lock requests are rejected.
Also, last but not the least, locking the object is logical (locking with any enqueue ) .so, you have to use the lock object while trying to access from second program .
    reward if helpful ,

    Ranjita

  • Feature restore request. (allow locked and grouped objects to be able to tagged.

In CS2, using the direct selection tool, I'm able to select and tag the image even if it's grouped and locked, no script needed at all, no sweat and fast!
Furthermore this XML element can also be moved freely in the structure hierarchy after tagged and remains grouped and locked.
    In CS3 and CS4,
    I can't do that.
It will give a warning message "Cannot modify elements that contain locked content, or are contained by locked content. Please unlock or check out the content and try again."
So need to write script to unlock the image's parent first, and then tag and locked the object back automatically.
(This script is essential so as to prevent any unintentional and accidental change on the page layout if it's done manually)
But to make matter worse, grouped objects will need to also find out all these ancestors and have them unlocked first!
It creates alot of hassle! Really being user-unfriendly in CS3/CS4 when doing such a simple xml tagging task.
PLEASE please restore the wonderful CS2 feature back in the next version of Indesign.
    MILLIONS of thanks!!
