Tree node label and listener.

Okay, either Im missing something or Im missing something.
I am trying to take the results from a query and store it in a tree. I just want one part of the data displayed at the label for the node. In this case the username.
When the user clicks on the node, I want to display the data stored. Now am I really missing something where the tree does not store anything else but the label? The next part of my problem and this more due to the fact I have not got listeners down yet. But when the user clicks on a node, what listener is called? What method do I use? Can you give me an example of a listener that will return something when I click on a node?
Thanks,
-Rob

    root = treePanel.addObject(null, "Sessions");
    for (int i=0; i<sessionDat.size(); i++)
      retObj = sessionDat.elementAt(i);
      retString = retObj.toString();
      // get username from results.
      connUser = retString.substring(1,retString.indexOf(",")-1);
      node     = treePanel.addObject(root, retObj);
      // now what I would like to do is set the label of the node to connUser.
      // something like node.setLable(connUser);  But sadly I can't find
      // that anywhere out there.
    oraSql.close(conn);
  }

This is an outstanding enhancement - there is no way of doing it at the moment

  • Add_tree_data - tree node label cannot be null

    I have a hierarchical tree displayed and when the user expands a node I'm calling add_tree_data using a record group to add items to the expanded node.
    This works for the first node I expand, if I try to expand another node I get frm-47337 Tree node label cannot be null. I'm using the same record group as before so I cant see why I'm getting the error. Thanks for any help.

  • Display Tree node label/title on page

    I'm using Apex version 4.
    I have a tree and I want to display (below the tree) the label or title of the node value that's selected.
    So my tree query is like:
    SELECT (case when connect_by_isleaf = 1 then 0 when level = 1 then 1 else -1 end) status,
    level,
    office_name title,
    null icon
    How can I display the office_name on my report page below the tree? Can I somehow capture the value selected in a page item and then display that page item below the tree?
    Thanks.

    Hi Ravindra,
    I think it is possible, i have not done it but let me explain how we can do it.
    In <htmlb:treeNode> tag there is an attribute 'text' in
    which we specify title of that treeNode.
    Now you define a page attribute 'treeNodeTitle' type
    edpline and in onCreate assign it value <html><b>MyTreeNode</b></html>
    When you click on this node then you do event handling
    in onInputProcessing, there assign only 'MyTreeNode' to
    treeNodeTitle.
    sample code may look like this...
    <htmlb:treeNode
      id = 'treeNode1'
      text = '<%=treeNodeTitle %>' >
    </htmlb:treeNode>
    Page Attribute
    treeNodeTitle type edpline
    in onCreate
    treeNodeTitle = '<html><b>MyTreeNode</b></html>'
    in onInputProcessing
    in event-handling code for that treeNode write
    treeNodeTitle = 'MyTreeNode'
    I hope this will work.

  • What is the difference between WHEN-TREE-NODE-ACTIVATED and

    Hello
    Pls tell me, what is the difference between:
    WHEN-TREE-NODE-ACTIVATED Trigger and
    WHEN-TREE-NODE-SELECTED Trigger
    Best Regards,
    Abdetu..

    in the WHEN-TREE-NODE-SELECTED trigger:
    When selecting
    IF :SYSTEM.TRIGGER_NODE_SELECTED = 'TRUE' THEN
      :GLOBAL.VARIABLE := <a value>;
      :PARAMETER.PARAM1 := <a value>;
      GO_BLOCK('BLOCK_B');
      EXECUTE_QUERY;
    END IF;
    When deselecting
    IF :SYSTEM.TRIGGER_NODE_SELECTED = 'FALSE' THEN
      ERASE('GLOBAL.VARIABLE');
      :PARAMETER.PARAM1 := NULL;
      GO_BLOCK('BLOCK_B');
      CLEAR_BLOCK(NO_VALIDATE);
    END IF;Of course this is a simple example.

  • Help with building a JTree using tree node and node renderers

    Hi,
    I am having a few problems with JTree's. basically I want to build JTree from a web spider. The webspide searches a website checking links and stores the current url that is being processed as a string in the variable msg. I wan to use this variable to build a JTree in a new class and then add it to my GUI. I have created a tree node class and a renderer node class, these classes are built fine. can someone point me in the direction for actually using these to build my tree in a seperate class and then displaying it in a GUI class?

    I have placed it where the action events start the spider, but i keep getting this error:

    Also the jtree is not showing the window that I want it to and I am not too sure why. could you have a look to see why? i think it needs a fresh pair of eyes.
    Many thanks

  • Hierarchical tree node editable

    hi,
    is there a property to make a tree node label editable? it would be kind to click on the label, change it and save to DB, instead of copying its value into a text field.
    thanks

    Not directly as Andreas said but alternately you can do by
    You can set the label of NODE and update into the BASE table block and re-populate the tree
    - on Double click the label call custom Stack canvas contains new label in text item and user will press OK
    - Sets the Label of the Tree node
    - Update the new label to the base table block
    - Commit and re-populate the tree
    if responses are helpful or correct please mark it

  • Hierarchical tree node problem

    Hi all --
    Today's problem is (drum roll)............
    My application uses a heirarichal tree where each tree node contains the name of a form within this system. The user can navigate from form to form by clicking the appropriatetly name tree node. This seems to work - sometimes. Some users click on a node for one form, but get transferred to another named form(usually the one above or below the one actually activated). I've also found out that this happens ONLY when the user has their screen resolution set to 800 x 600. This application was developed at screen resolution 1024 x 768 and it woks fine. Anybody know why??

  • Is my hard drive dead? Invalid B-Tree Node Size

    When I turn on my powerbook it goes to the grey screen with the apple in the middle comes up and then it goes to loading Mac OS X which I am trying to do but when it comes to Select a Destination my hard drive is not listed. I click on utilities and go to utilities and disk utility. My hard drive is listed on the left side so i click it. I then click verify disk and it sais Invalid B-Tree Node Size and Volume needs repair. Then I click repair but the same thing comes up. What can I do? PS-I did a search but none of the info I came up with helped me at all.

    they are about $100 and available from most Apple dealers:
    http://alsoft.com/DiskWarrior/index.html
    http://www.micromat.com/
    if there are no important files on the drive, erasing the drive and reinstalling OS could possibly fix it unless it's caused by failing drive hardware.
    if erase/install does not work properly, could be bad drive.
    "B-Tree" message could simply be caused by messed up files and there is nothing wrong with the drive itself.

  • Tree and Tree Node Components - Threadinar7

    Hi All,
    This is the seventh in the "Threadinar" series , please see Threadinar6 at
    http://forum.sun.com/jive/thread.jspa?threadID=100601 for details
    In this Threadinar we will focus on the
    "Tree" and "Tree Node" Components
    Let us begin our discussion with the Tree Component.
    Tree Component
    You can drag the Tree component from the Palette's Basic category to the Visual Designer to create a hierarchical tree structure with nodes that can be expanded and collapsed, like the nodes in the Outline window. When the user clicks a node, the row will be highlighted. A tree is often used as a navigation mechanism.
    A tree contains Tree Node components, which act like hyperlinks. You can use a Tree Node to navigate to another page by setting its url property. You can also use a Tree Node to submit the current page. If the the Tree Node's action property is bound to an action event handler, selecting the node automatically submits the page. If the Tree Node's actionListener property is bound to an action listener, opening or closing the node automatically submits the page. You set Tree Node properties in the Tree Node Component Properties window.
    * If you use this component to navigate between pages of a portlet, do not use the url property to link to a page. Instead, use the Navigation editor to set up your links to pages.
    * Events related to tree node selection do not work correctly in portlets because the component uses cookies to pass the selected node id back and forth, and cookies are not correctly handled by the portlet container. You cannot handle tree node selection events in portlet projects.
    Initially when you drop a tree on a page, it has one root node labeled Tree and one subnode labeled Tree Node 1. You can add more nodes by dragging them to the tree and dropping them either on the root node to create top level nodes or on existing nodes to create subnodes of those nodes. You can also right-click the Tree or any Tree Node and choose Add Tree Node to add a subnode to the node.
    Additionally, you can work with the component in the Outline window, where the component and its child components are available as nodes. You can move a node from level to level easily in the Outline window, so you might want to work there if you are rearranging nodes. You can also add and delete tree nodes in the Outline window, just as in the Visual Designer.
    The Tree component has properties that, among other things, enable you change the root node's displayed text, change the appearance of the text, specify if expanding or collapsing a node requires a trip to the server, and specify whether node selection should automatically open or close the tree. To set the Tree's properties, select the Tree component in your page and use the Tree Component Properties window.
    The following Tutorial ("Using Tree Component") is very useful to learn using Tree components
    http://developers.sun.com/prodtech/javatools/jscreator/learning/tutorials/2/sitemaptree.html
    See Also the Technical Article - "Working with the Tree Component and Tree Node Actions"
    http://developers.sun.com/prodtech/javatools/jscreator/reference/techart/2/tree_component.html
    Tree Node Component
    You can drag the Tree Node component from the Palette's Basic category to a Tree component or another tree node in the Visual Designer to create a node in a hierarchical tree structure, similar to the tree you see in the Outline window.
    The tree node is created as a subnode of the node on which you drop it. If you drop the node on the tree component itself, a new node is created as a child of the root node. You can see the hierarchical structure clearly in the Outline window, where you can also easily move nodes around and reparent them.
    You can also add a tree node either to a Tree component or to a Tree Node component by right-clicking the component and choosing Add Tree Node.
    A Tree Node component by default is a container for an image and can be used to navigate to another page, submit the current page, or simply open or close the node if the node has child nodes.
    * If you select the Tree Node component's node Tree Node icon in the Outline window, you can edit its properties in the Tree Node Properties window. You can set things like whether or not the Tree Node is expanded by default, the tooltip for the Tree Node, the label for the tree node, and the Tree Node's identifier in your web application.
    * You can use a Tree Node to navigate to another page by setting its url property. You can also use a Tree Node to submit the current page. If the the Tree Node's action property is bound to an action event handler, selecting the node automatically submits the page. If the Tree Node's actionListener property is bound to an action listener, opening or closing the node automatically submits the page.
    - Note: If you use this component to navigate between pages of a portlet, do not use the url property to link to a page. Instead, use the Navigation editor to set up your links to pages. In addition, events related to tree node selection do not work correctly in portlets because the component uses cookies to pass the selected node id back and forth, and cookies are not correctly handled by the portlet container. You cannot handle tree node selection events in portlet projects.
    * If you select the image in the Tree Node, you can see that its icon property is set to TREE_DOCUMENT. If you right-click the image on the page and choose Set Image, you can either change the icon to another one or choose your own image in the Image Customizer dialog box. For more information on working with an image in a tree node, see Image component.
    - Note: The image used in a tree node works best if it is 16x16 or smaller. Larger images can work, but might appear overlapped in the Visual Designer. You can right-click the component and choose Preview in Browser feature to check the appearance of the images.
    Please share your comments, experiences, additional information, questions, feedback, etc. on these components.
    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- --------------------

    One challenge I had experience was to make the tree
    always expanded on all pages (I placed my tree menu
    in a page fragment so I can just import it in my
    pages).Did you solve this problem. It would be interesting to know what you did.
    To expand a node you call setExpanded on the node. Here is some code from a tutorial that a coworker of mine is working on.
    In the prerender method:
           Integer expandedPersonId = getRequestBean1().getPersonId();
             // If expandedPersonId is null, then we are not coming back
            // from the Trip page. In that case we do not want any trip
            // nodes to be pre-selected (highlighted) due to browser cookies.
            if (expandedPersonId==null) {
                try {
                    HttpServletRequest req =(HttpServletRequest)
                    getExternalContext().getRequest();
                    Cookie[] cookies = req.getCookies();
                    //Check if cookies are set
                    if (cookies != null) {
                        for (int loop =0; loop < cookies.length; loop++) {
                            if (cookies[loop].getName().equals
                                    ("form1:displayTree-hi")) {
                                cookies[loop].setMaxAge(0);
                                HttpServletResponse response =(HttpServletResponse)
                                getExternalContext().getResponse();
                                response.addCookie(cookies[loop]);
                } catch (Exception e) {
                    error("Failure trying to clear highlighting of selected node:" +
                            e.getMessage());
            }                  ... (in a loop for tree nodes)...
                      personNode.setExpanded(newPersonId.equals
                                    (expandedPersonId));In the action method for the nodes:
           // Get the client id of the currently selected tree node
            String clientId = displayTree.getCookieSelectedTreeNode();
            // Extract component id from the client id
            String nodeId = clientId.substring(clientId.lastIndexOf(":")+1);
            // Find the tree node component with the given id
            TreeNode selectedNode =
                    (TreeNode) this.getForm1().findComponentById(nodeId);
            try {
                // Node's id property is composed of "trip" plus the trip id
                // Extract the trip id and save it for the next page
                Integer tripId = Integer.valueOf(selectedNode.getId().substring(4));
                getRequestBean1().setTripId(tripId);
            } catch (Exception e) {
                error("Can't convert node id to Integer: " +
                        selectedNode.getId().substring(4));
                return null;
    It would also be great if I can set the tree
    readonly where the user cannot toggle the expand
    property of the tree (hope this can be added to the
    tree functionality).

  • Using depth first traversal to add a new node to a tree with labels

    Hello,
    I'm currently trying to work my way through Java and need some advice on using and traversing trees. I've written a basic JTree program, which allows the user to add and delete nodes. Each new node is labelled in a sequential order and not dependent upon where they are added to the tree.
    Basically, what is the best way to add and delete these new nodes with labels that reflect their position in the tree in a depth-first traversal?
    ie: the new node's label will correctly reflect its position in the tree and the other labels will change to reflect this addition of a new node.
    I've searched Google and can't seem to find any appropriate examples for this case.
    My current code is as follows,
    import java.awt.*;
    import java.awt.event.*;
    import javax.swing.*;
    import javax.swing.event.*;
    import javax.swing.tree.*;
    public class BasicTreeAddDelete extends JFrame implements ActionListener
        private JTree tree;
        private DefaultTreeModel treeModel;
        private JButton addButton;
        private JButton deleteButton;
        private int newNodeSuffix = 1;
        public BasicTreeAddDelete()
            setTitle("Basic Tree with Add and Delete Buttons");
            DefaultMutableTreeNode rootNode = new DefaultMutableTreeNode("Root");
            treeModel = new DefaultTreeModel(rootNode);
            tree = new JTree(treeModel);
            JScrollPane scrollPane = new JScrollPane(tree);
            getContentPane().add(scrollPane, BorderLayout.CENTER);
            JPanel panel = new JPanel();
            addButton = new JButton("Add Node");
            addButton.addActionListener(this);
            panel.add(addButton);
            getContentPane().add(panel, BorderLayout.SOUTH);
            deleteButton = new JButton("Delete Node");
            deleteButton.addActionListener(this);
            panel.add(deleteButton);
            getContentPane().add(panel, BorderLayout.SOUTH);
            setDefaultCloseOperation(EXIT_ON_CLOSE);
            setSize(400, 300);
            setVisible(true);
        public void actionPerformed(ActionEvent event)

  • Custom tree node and DefaultTreeModel

    Hello,
    I would like to know if it's possible to use the following custom tree node with the DefaultTreeModel:
    class MyTreeNode extends DefaultMutableTreeNode{
      private String _argument = null;
      public MyTreeNode(){}
      public MyTreeNode(Object node, String argument){
         super(node);
          _argument = argument;
    }I have tried it and it's not working but I think in theory it should work. Please correct me if I'm wrong.
    The problem is that the tree won't display or insert the custom node when the insertNodeAt(...) method of
    the DefaultTreeModel is called. I also tried using a custom tree listener and calling the .reload() method directly.
    Any help will be very appreciated.
    Thanks in advanced.

    Are you sure it's not being inserted into the model,
    and just not being displayed?
    Are you calling nodesWereInserted() after your
    insertion?Thanks for your reply.
    I've modified my app. so that the following method will populate the tree for testing only:
      public void populateTree()
        MyTreeNode root = new MyTreeNode("Root Node", "test");
        DefaultTreeModel treeModel = new DefaultTreeModel(root);
        JTree tree = new JTree(treeModel);
        tree.setEditable(true);
        tree.getSelectionModel().setSelectionMode(TreeSelectionModel.SINGLE_TREE_SELECTION);
        tree.setShowsRootHandles(true);
        JScrollPane scrollPane = new JScrollPane(tree);
        setLayout(new GridLayout(1,0));
        add(scrollPane);
        int childIdx[] = {0,1};
        String p1Name = new String("Parent 1");
        String p2Name = new String("Parent 2");
        String c1Name = new String("Child 1");
        String c2Name = new String("Child 2");
        MyTreeNode p1 = new MyTreeNode(p1Name, "test");
        MyTreeNode p2 = new MyTreeNode(p2Name, "test");
        MyTreeNode c1 = new MyTreeNode(c1Name, "test");
        MyTreeNode c2 = new MyTreeNode(c2Name, "test");
        treeModel.insertNodeInto(p1, root, 0);
        treeModel.insertNodeInto(p2, root, 1);
        treeModel.nodesWereInserted(root, childIdx);
        treeModel.insertNodeInto(c1, p1, 0);
        treeModel.insertNodeInto(c2, p1, 1);
        treeModel.nodesWereInserted(p1, childIdx);
        treeModel.reload();
    }And the result is that the "Root Node" will be displayed with "Parent1" and "Parent2" but "Parent1" won't have any children. Furthermore, if I try to remove "Parent1" using:
    treeModel.removeNodeFromParent(p1);I will get an exception saying that node p1 has no parent, which suggests that the parent/child relation
    is not being assigned by the model, even though the nodes (p1, p2) are displayed in the tree showing "Root node" as the parent. This is very strange.
    Please help.

  • Expanding an af:tree node by clicking onto its label

    Dear all,
    I am ussing af:tree same as in this link.
    http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/jdev/tips/fnimphius/js_disclose_tree_path.html
    But may af:tree still can't expend clicking on node label.
    I am using jdeve11.1.1.2.0, here is my code.
    <af:resource type="javascript" >
    function expandNode(event){
    var _tree = event.getSource();
    rwKeySet = event.getAddedSet();
    var firstRowKey;
    for(rowKey in rwKeySet){
    firstRowKey = rowKey;
    // we are interested in the first hit, so break out here
    break;
    if (_tree.isPathExpanded(firstRowKey)){
    _tree.setDisclosedRowKey(firstRowKey,false);
    else{
    _tree.setDisclosedRowKey(firstRowKey,true);
    </af:resource>
    <af:tree id="sTree" value="#{MenuGenerator.treeModel}" var="node"
    expandAllEnabled="false" styleClass="stree" >
    <f:facet name="nodeStamp">
    <af:outputText value="#{node.name}" />
    </f:facet>
    <af:clientListener method="expandNode" type="selection"/>
    </af:tree>
    With Regards,
    WP

    hi Frank,
    i get it too. but behaviour is different as i thought.
    lets say i click on one of the node to expand it.
    then i click on it again to collapse.
    but i can't do it like this because my focus is still on that node.
    i mean when i click on one node to expand/collapse then i click on it again to expand/collapse.
    is it possible? and how to achieve this?
    With Regards,
    WP

  • Expand tree node by clicking onto the node label

    I have followed this example to expand the nodes with a clic on the tree :
    [http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/developer-tools/adf/learnmore/20-expand-tree-node-from-label-169156.pdf]
    My code:
    JSPX:
    <af:resource type="javascript" source="js/glasspane.js"/>
    <af:tree value="#{bindings.OpcionesPadreView1.treeModel}" var="node"
    rowSelection="single" id="t1" partialTriggers=":::cbNuevCpta"
    binding="#{pageFlowScope.GestionDocumentos.t1}"
    selectionListener="#{bindings.OpcionesPadreView1.treeModel.makeCurrent}">
    <f:facet name="nodeStamp">
    <af:commandImageLink text="#{node.Gesdopcach}" id="ot1"
    action="#{bindings.LoadDir.execute}"
    actionListener="#{bindings.LoadFile.execute}"
    icon="/images/GestionDocumentos/folder20x20.png"
    partialSubmit="true">
    </af:commandImageLink>
    </f:facet>
    <af:clientListener method="expandTree" type="selection"/>
    </af:tree>
    Js:
    function expandTree(evt) {
    alert('In');
    var tree = event.getSource();
    rwKeySet = event.getAddedSet();
    var firstRowKey;
    for (rowKey in rwKeySet) {
    firstRowKey = rowKey;
    if (tree.isPathExpanded(firstRowKey)) {
    tree.setDisclosedRowKey(firstRowKey, false);
    }else {
    tree.setDisclosedRowKey(firstRowKey, true);
    When i clic on the labels the tree doesn't expand, the alert also is not shown. The problem could be the <af:resource>, but i have this tag in all my pages and all javascripts work. I also changed the commandLink with an outputText, but doesn't work.

    At least the call the javascript works, but this line doesn't work, anybody know why?:
    rwKeySet = evt.getAddedSet();

  • Q about tree nodes w. same label (different branches)

    Apparently renderer gets confused if it needs to show two nodes with the same label, even though they may be on different branches of the tree. In the pic below, nodes marked "role-read-only" get expanded/closed together - you click on one, they get expanded/closed simultaneously. You hover a mouse on one, the other one gets highlighted.
    The tree is in the form of ArrayCollections (with children being other ArrayCollections). How to change this behavior? Am I missing a comparator in a tree or a tree nodes (if so - what's the format?)?
    Thanks in advance!

    To all who'd like to know the answer.
    Problem was that I used Proxy to wrap around business object representing a node. So each node was a Proxy. As soon as I changed wrappers to not be Proxy everything worked fine.
    I came to solution after discovering that the described behavior is typical if you use _the_same_ object for two different nodes.
    Apparently flex fails to properly compare two different Proxy objects and thinks they are the same. Or perhaps they ARE the same under the hood.
