Trigger job using an event

Hi
Could anyone tell me the steps involved in triggering a job in R/3 using an event.It would be very helpful if somebody could enumerate the steps.
Points will be awarded.
Regards
Ankit

Follow these steps:
Step1: Create event from transaction SM62.
Step2: Create a program that triggers this event by calling the FM u2018BP_EVENT_RAISEu2019.
Step3: Configure the background job from transaction SM36.
For details pl. see my blog in this given link.

  • Trigger a job using an event through a process chain

    Hi,
    After the success of 5metachain, I am using AND condition
    My requirement is as follows, it should trigger a job which needs to be after AND condition,
    I have created an event using sm64. Basically the client wants to trigger the job using the event through the process chain. I have tried test scenariou2019s using ABAP program (Process type) in the process chain but it is failing. Is there any other way to trigger a job using an event through a process chain? If ABAP program is the only option, can you please specify what all needs to be filled in the variant?
    Regards.
    Jerry

    Hi,
    Create a program like below,
    CALL FUNCTION 'BP_EVENT_RAISE'
      EXPORTING
        EVENTID = 'EVENT WHICH YOU HAVE CREATED'
    EXCEPTIONS
       BAD_EVENTID                  = 1
       EVENTID_DOES_NOT_EXIST       = 2
       EVENTID_MISSING              = 3
       RAISE_FAILED                 = 4
       OTHERS                       = 5
    IF SY-SUBRC <> 0.
    MESSAGE ID SY-MSGID TYPE SY-MSGTY NUMBER SY-MSGNO
             WITH SY-MSGV1 SY-MSGV2 SY-MSGV3 SY-MSGV4.
    ENDIF.
    search and include the program name which you have created above in the "ABAP program" process type which you are going to include in the process chain.
    Include the event which you have created in the start condition of the job.
    Note: No need of give any variant, because here we are calling only one function in this program.

  • How to schedule a background job using the Event concept..?

    Hi Folks,
    I have a requirement that, I need a schedule a background job.
    Once after the previous job successful only, new job should get triggered. How to go ahead with this..?
    For Eg, I am scheduling a job called ZTEST periodically for 1 minute. If the job is not get completing with in 1 minute, I dont want to start my new job. Only after the success of my old job, I want my new job to run.
    Waiting for ur replies.
    Regards,
    Savi.

    Hi,
    You can use events that have already been defined, or you can create new events for scheduling background jobs.
    If you wish to use new events, do the following to implement the event scheduling:
    Define and transport the event as a user event with transaction SM62.
    You must define only event IDs; event arguments are not defined in the R/3 System. Instead, you specify event arguments when you schedule a job to wait for an event and when you trigger the event.
    If you define a new event, you must also transport it to your production systems. The event transaction does not have a connection to the transport system. Instead, you must create a transport request for the event yourself.
    Do this to transport an event:
    Create a transport request.
    Start the editor in the transport request and enter the following:
    R3TR TABU <table name> where table name is BTCSEV for a system event ID, BTCUEV for a user event ID.
    Press F2 with the cursor on the table name to call up the screen for specifying the table entries to transport. In this screen, enter the event ID’s that you have created.
    Save and release the transport request. Ensure that it is imported into your production system(s).
    To trigger an event, add:
    – the function module BP_EVENT_RAISE to your ABAP program, or
    – the program SAPEVT to your external script, batch file, or program.
    When your programs execute these keywords, an event will be triggered in the R/3 background processing system. The event-based scheduler is started immediately. It in turn starts all jobs that were waiting upon the event, subject to normal background processing restrictions, such as the requirement that the job has been released to start.
    Schedule the jobs that are to run when your events are triggered.
    You can schedule jobs for one-time start or to be started whenever an event is triggered.

    Raj.

  • How to trigger applet's EVEN_FORMATTED_SMS_PP_ENV  event using kannel?

    How to trigger applet's EVEN_FORMATTED_SMS_PP_ENV event using kannel?

    It seems that the freeze can be atributed to a problem with the limited number of proactive handlers and reentrance problem.
    I see this comment
    How to deal with re-entrance?
    · Requiring an SMS-Submit
    Can be used only: if the application has to send proactive commands only when
    triggered by EVENT_FORMATTED_SMS_PP_ENV.
    The remote server must require a response packet using SMS-Submit when sending a
    message to the application (the card shall implement the 3GPP 43.019 Rel-5)
    Advantages:
    o it is a standard mechanism
    o there is no need to implement anything related to this mechanism in the
    application
    How can I do that? Do I have to tinker the SMSC service and arrange for something like this?

  • Use Event Structure to trigger a 1 off event

    I am trying to use an event structure to trigger a 1 off event.  I thought that I could check for the condition that I want to trigger the event and wire this the Val(signaling) property of a Boolean.  I then created a Value Change event on this control expecting the event to trigger when the value changed from false to true.  what I find is that writing to the Val Signaling property triggers the event every time not just when the value changes.
    The attachment is a simple vi to try and illustrate this point using the iteration counter to try and trigger a 1 off event on the 10th iteration.  The Boolean 'Once' changes from False to True on the 10th iteration but the event is triggered for every iteration.  Need to run in debug

    One thing that I should have pointed out. I don't know what you are
    going to do in your "one off" event. If it is a time consuming operation
    you should not use an event but send a message to another loop and have
    that loop execute the code. Otherwise your event loop will be blocked.
    You can send messages to other loops in a
    number of ways. Variables, Queues, Notifiers, Action Engines, etc..
    Attached
    is your vi modified to use a notifier. I also modified your conditional
    logic. You said you wanted to have something happen only once but you
    were using a less than comparison. I changed that to an equals comparison so that when i = 9 a notification is sent to a slave loop.
    A message box will be displayed on the tenth iteration of the master
    loop. Notice how your numeric indicator continues to increment even with
    the dialog box displayed. That would not happen if the dialog box were to be displayed in the master loop.

  • Bathc Job Triggered by Event

    Hi All,
    I have a program which updates the product allocation. What i want to happen is the ability to set up a batch job based on an event. This event will be a change in certain fields in customer master like sale district, sales group, sales office etc. Is this scenario possibel? If yes, then how can i implement this?
    Thanks in advance!
    Jim

    Hey,
    Raising the event in the user exit might be a bit risky as the job will be triggered even if the update task fails.
    I would suggest using workflow to meet your requirement. Switch on the event trace using SWELS and change the customer. Check the event trace using SWEL and then use the events, if any to start a workflow task.
    This workflow task should have the logic to create the event which will fire the job OR You could also write the logic to start the job in the workflow task.
    Business object related to customer are
    KNA1       Customer
    KNB1       Company code customer
    KNVV       Customer sales area
    If SWEL does not display any events then you might have to create a custom event for one of the above objects and trigger this event using change documents.

  • Which method is used for event creation

    Dear All,
    My client has more then one Purchase Organization. Workflow for Purchase order release very from pur org to pur org. For example - workflow WS92000030 is trigger when PO is created for India pur org where as workflow WS92000021 is trigger when PO is created for US pur org.
    I checked and found that same Object Type - BUS2012 & event - RELEASESTEPCREATED is used in all Pur. Org PO release workflow. Also I found in Transaction code - SWETYP that Type linkage activate for  BUS2012, RELEASESTEPCREATED in all the PO workflow - WS92000030 & WS92000021.
    As per my knowledge, event can be created in various way such as Function module, Change document, General status management, Business Transaction Events etc.
    Can some one guide me, how can I found that which method is used for event creation in different pur org?
    How can I fould what is the fuctional module used for event creation if Fuctional module used for event creation.
    For your information, I can see in T. Code - SWUO that 'Result dependent on a check function module'  for all the workflow - WS92000030, WS92000021 etc.
    Thanks in

    Hi Sahu,
    I dont think they have used the Function module or change document or any other kind of methods to trigger the workflow. This is because RELEASESTEPCREATED method is a standard method and it will be triggered by standard SAP. They can not make changes in standard sap saying RELEASESTEPCREATED should be triggered for this Purchase Org .
    Istead what i think is, they might have given the Event Condition for each workflow.
    In SWDD>> basic settings>> Start Events, we can give condition on triggering the workflow.
    Please check this.

  • Use of Events in OOPS ABAP

    Hi all,
        Can anybody please say me what is the exact use of EVENTS in OOPs ABAP. Can anybody please explain me with an example.
    Thanks in advance.

    hi,
    By triggering an event, an object or a class announces a change of state, or that a certain state has been
    achieved.
    Events link objects or classes more loosely than direct method calls do. Method calls establish precisely
    when and in which statement sequence the method is called.
    However, with events, the reaction of the
    object to the event is determined by the triggering of the event itself.
    Events are most often used in GUI implementations.
    Other external object models, such as COM, ActiveX Controls etc, also provide events.
    At the moment of implementation, a class defines its
    instance events (using the statement EVENTS) and
    static events (using the statement CLASS-EVENTS)
    Classes or their instances that receive a message when an event is triggered at runtime and want to react
    to this event define event handler methods.
    Statement : (CLASS-)METHODS <handler_method> FOR EVENT <event> OF <classname>.
    These classes or their instances register themselves at runtime to one or more events.
    Statement : SET HANDLER <handler_method> FOR <reference>. (for instance events)
    SET HANDLER <handler_method>. (for static events).
    A class or an instance can trigger an event at runtime using the statement RAISE EVENT.
    Both instance and static events can be triggered in instance methods.
    Only static events can be triggered in static methods.
    Events can only have EXPORTING parameters which must be passed by value.
    Triggering an event using the statement RAISE EVENT has the following effect:
    the program flow is interrupted at that point
    the event handler methods registered to this event are called and processed once all event handler methods have been executed, the program flow starts again.
    If an event handler method in turn triggers an event, then the program flow is again interrupted and all event handler methods are executed (nesting).
    Events are registered using the command SET HANDLER. Registration is only active at program runtime.
    Events cannot be persistent.
    You want to register an object to an event belonging to another object. The SET HANDLER... statement
    enters the registration in that object’s list. All handlers for one event are entered in this list.
    When the event is triggered, the list shows which event handler methods need to be called.
    Event handler methods are triggered by events (RAISE EVENT), although they can also be called like
    normal methods (CALL METHOD).
    The interface of the event handler method consists solely of IMPORTING parameters. Only parameters
    from the definition of the corresponding event (event interface) can be used.
    An event interface only has EXPORTING parameters and is defined using the EVENTS statement in the declaration of the event. The
    parameters are typed in the event definition and the typing is passed to the event handler method, that is,
    the interface parameters of the event handler method cannot be typed in the definition of the event handler
    method.
    In addition to the explicitly defined event interface parameters, the implicit parameter SENDER can also be
    listed as an IMPORTING parameter for instance events. This passes on a reference to the object that
    triggered the event.
    Events are also subject to the visibility concept and can therefore be either public, protected or private.
    Visibility establishes authorization for event handling :
    all users only users within that class or its subclasses
    only users in that class.
    Event handler methods also have visibility characteristics. Event handler methods, however, can only have
    the same visibility or more restricted visibility than the events they refer to.
    The visibility of event handler methods establishes authorization for SET-HANDLER statements: SET
    HANDLER statements can be made anywhere in that class and its subclasses only in that class

  • Focus problem using key event

    Hi!
    There is an application I've created uses key event that needs your help.
    As you know, that setting 'Mnemonic' to a JButton object makes the button accessible by a key mentioned in the parameter as the following ->
                   OkButton.setMnemonic(KeyEvent.VK_O);Now, pressing 'Alt' and 'O' keys together will do the same action as the 'OKButton' does.
    But as of me, I think pressing two keys together is not a complete handy job.
    So, is there any code that will do the same, by pressing only the 'O' key ?
    Ok! I know that there is something to be taken care of; that is, if I want the button to react by pressing only the 'O' key the button must be in focus [value returned by the method [code]isFocusable() for the button must return true.]
    Then how the 'Mnemonic' works ?!! When 'Mnemonic' do something, button does not have any focus.
    Only, I press the Alt+O and the work done successfully! No need to take care wherever the focus is. So, is there any way to do alike, where I don't have to manage the focus subsystem?? I would only press the 'O' key and the task will be done.
    Please send a sample code. Thanks!

    I suggest you look into Key Bindings:
    "How to Use Key Bindings"
    http://java.sun.com/docs/books/tutorial/uiswing/misc/keybinding.html
    Here is a short demo program that uses Key Bindings to do what you describe:
    import java.awt.event.ActionEvent;
    import java.awt.event.KeyEvent;
    import javax.swing.*;
    public class PressOTest extends JFrame {
        public PressOTest() {
            super("Press O or C");
            setDefaultCloseOperation(EXIT_ON_CLOSE);
            // Action that will be associated with the OK button and with
            // the 'O' key event
            Action okAction = new AbstractAction("Ok") {
                public void actionPerformed(ActionEvent e) {
                    JOptionPane.showMessageDialog(PressOTest.this, "Ok!");
            // Action that will be associated with the Cancel button and with
            // the 'C' key event
            Action cancelAction = new AbstractAction("Cancel") {
                public void actionPerformed(ActionEvent e) {
                    JOptionPane.showMessageDialog(PressOTest.this, "Cancel!");
            // Register Key Bindings for the 'O' and 'C' keys:
            InputMap im = getRootPane().getInputMap(
                    JComponent.WHEN_IN_FOCUSED_WINDOW);
            ActionMap am = getRootPane().getActionMap();
            im.put(KeyStroke.getKeyStroke( KeyEvent.VK_O, 0 ), "ok");
            am.put( "ok", okAction );
            im.put(KeyStroke.getKeyStroke( KeyEvent.VK_C, 0 ), "cancel");
            am.put( "cancel", cancelAction );
            // Create and add OK & Cancel buttons:
            JButton okButton = new JButton(okAction);
            JButton cancelButton = new JButton(cancelAction);
            Box box = Box.createHorizontalBox();
            box.add( Box.createHorizontalGlue() );
            box.add( okButton );
            box.add( Box.createHorizontalStrut(10) );
            box.add( cancelButton );
            box.add( Box.createHorizontalGlue() );
            getContentPane().add( box );
            setSize(300, 300);
            setLocationRelativeTo(null);
        public static void main(String[] args) {
            new PressOTest().setVisible(true);

  • Inbound  using Business Events

    Hi All,
    We have to develop an inbound interface using business event to get better asynchronous mode of process between the middleware and Ebusiness Suit. The previous design was using a stored procedure by passing input parameter as table type (We had header line and details information in 3 different table type). Now instead of calling stored procedure middleware(ESB) will trigger business event by passing the input parameter. Please let me know how can I achieve this.
    My main concern is if ESB is able to populate data via business event how can we process in our side.
    I am ok even if we can get the data as xml also,, Please tell me how to achieve.
    Please help.
    Thanks,

    Concurrent programs can be integrated with the Business Event System in Oracle Workflow. Business events can be raised at key points of the life cycle of a request to run a concurrent program. Users can subscribe to the business events and create their own business processes interacting with the concurrent programs.

  • Acquiring continuous data using an event structure

    I am new to labview, having recently taken the Core I and II courses.
    I am programming a test rig to acquire the linear position of a hydraulic cylinder and plot it over time.  In programming this code, I elected to use an event structure so that when a front panel button is pressed, a certain part of the test is run.
    In one particular part of the test, called the Snub Test, I need to measure the position of the cylinder over time and plot it to a graph.  The data acquisition needs to be continuous, however the event structure only allows the loop to run once.
    I have attached a portion of my code for reference.
    Can someone please advise how I can get this data acquisition to run continuously until the user (or a reference trigger) stops the test?

    A few comments to your VI in general:
    You changed the stop button to "switch until released", most likely because you fabricated a race condition and did this as a quick fix. The reason is (1) your placement of the stop terminal outside the event structure and (2) the use of a local variable wired to the stop condition. The button terminal of a latch action boolean belong inside it's associated event case! This way it gets read (and reset to false) when the event occurs. In your case, the local variable and the button get read before the event occurs and the loop needs to spin once more at the event that occurs when you release it (true->false). At this point, the local is still true from the earlier event and the loop stops. Correct would be: latch action, stop terminal inside stop case and wired to the stop condition from inside the event. Other cases use the default output (false) and don't stop the loop.
    Your "equal false" code fragment is just an invert, right? So why complicate things?
    Why do you need a wait if there is an event structure?

  • How to trigger value change in event structure

    Hii everyone, as the title, how should I trigger the value change event to pop up a message.. below is my connection..
    I want to trigger the event structure to pop up the sub-vi, when the flame and led are TRUE state... I using property node but still the event structure not able to execute.. How should I connect? Thank you very much...
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    There are several ways you can do it. First you have to configure your sub-vi so that it does whatever you want when it runs  (in the vi properties, top most window for example) and to make sure that it closes completely when finished (when clicking the "OK" button for example).
    You than need to make an asynchronous call to the sub-vi. There are several ways to do it. My favorite one is shown below. You go in the "Application control" sub-palette and select Static VI reference. I like this approach because it keeps track of the sub-vi path for you, as long as the sub-vi is in the same project. You then drag the sub-vi onto the empty square that will changes to your sub-vi icon. You then connect to an invoke node from the same sub-palette and select run VI. Set "Wait Until Done" to false and the main VI will keep running after starting the Sub vi. Set "Auto Dispose Ref" is the easiest way to go. Otherwise you have to keep track of the sub-vi reference and close it yourself when you're done.
