Trouble building simple EJB

Hi, just going through an example ejb and then adapting the method used to create my own bean. Trouble is when I edit the main Bean class, in this case JujitsuFacadeBean, it comes up with some parse error and starts to create an interface in the ejbModule package.
IDE is eclipse, JDK is 5.
i followed the example as per the book. Where am I going wrong?
Here is the errors reported in the console...

Have managed to figure out for myself what the problem was. Compiler compliance. I was using ejb 2.3, JBoss 4.0.5 and Java5. ejb could not handle Java5 generics and so reported correctly an error. Fix was to change compiler compliance in the Eclipse Workspace from 5 to 1.4 and the same goes for each of the Projects in the workspace. This also meant editing each class declaration using generics to the old way of casting.
SORTED.

  • Error in deploying a simple EJB 3.0

    Hi ,
    I am getting the following error while deploying my simple ejb of version 3.0 in Weblogic 9.2.
    Exception preparing module: EJBModule(build) [EJB:011023]An error occurred while reading the deployment descriptor. The error was: Error processing annotations: java.lang.NullPointerException.
    During my evaluation of Weblogic 9.2 for EJB 3.0 , I have got the following questions.
    EJB Specification states that EJB's in EJB 3.0 can be developed and deployed without the need of deployment descriptors. I have created a simple EJB with two file Env.java and EnvBean.java and the source code is given below.
    a) I just complied these class files and when I was trying to deploy without ejb-jar.xml and weblogic-ejb-jar.xml, the console was not at all allowing me to deploy.Why is this so?
    b) After I created a META-INF file under root of classes directory by placing ejb-jar.xml with empty <enterprise-beans> element, console was allowing me to deploy with errors in parsing ejb-jar.xml. The error was either session/entity/mdb is a required under <enterprise-beans> element. Why is this required when there are several examples stating <enterprise-beans> element can be empty.
    c) Later I updated ejb-jar.xml with <session> element under <enterprise-beans> with the following values. I got the above error when deployed with this change.
    I had been struggling to deploy this simple bean for almost a day.Pleas point me if there is any documentation that solves my stated problem or if there is a solution.Thanks in advance.
    regards
    Karim

    Presumably you're using the EJB3 tech preview, and not a vanilla WebLogic 9.2 install, right?
    Can you post the full stack trace?

    I'm trying the "Oracle JDeveloper 11g Tutorials" - "Create a Simple EJB Session Bean", I just follow the instructions in that page. But when I tried to run it, it always failed. Can anyone help me to have a look. I paste the log below. thank you.

    [Application SessionEJB stopped and undeployed from Server Instance DefaultServer]

    Steve,
    I'm facing the same issue as user#####.
    Your workaround does not work ; when I deploy manuelly the ear file, with a new weblogic-application.xml, I get the same error.
    Does that happen a lot ? :p

  • Building an EJB Client

    I'm completely confused on how to build an EJB client automagically using Ant.
    I have a simple EJB, which I compile using the wlwBuild Ant task. If I set the "ejbgen.jar-settings.ejb-client-jar" property in the project's build.properties, the client jar gets built, but it then ends up in the application EAR file. Worse yet, the generated application.xml descriptor includes the client module. Deploying the ear file fails since WebLogic tries to deploy both modules, and it blows up on NamingExceptions.
    I've kludged the process by using wlwBuild and then 'fixing' the resulting EAR file, but that's far from ideal. It works for simple projects, but not Integration projects with the auto-generated very ugly EJB names.
    I've looked at wlappc, but the documentation is so scarce I can't tell if this is the tool to use, or how to make it work. Trial and error has gotten me nowhere...:(
    So the question is: how can I build the EJB client through Ant without having it end up in the application EAR?
    thanks
    mike

    I'm looking for too and there isn't any.
    Here is an example. I hope it could be helpful.

  • Very simple EJB 3.0 MDB but I get NullPointerException

    I tried to create a very simple EJB 3.0 Message Driven Bean in JDeveloper 10.1.3.2 as follows:
    Message Driven Bean Class:
    import javax.ejb.MessageDriven;
    import javax.jms.Message;
    import javax.jms.MessageListener;
    @MessageDriven(mappedName="MDBQueue")
    public class MDB implements MessageListener {
    public void onMessage(Message message) {
    System.out.println("Got message!");
    Application Client:
    import javax.annotation.Resource;
    import javax.jms.*;
    public class MDBAppClient {
    @Resource(mappedName="MDBQueueConnectionFactory")
    private static QueueConnectionFactory queueCF;
    @Resource(mappedName="MDBQueue")
    private static Queue mdbQueue;
    public static void main(String args[]) {
    try {
    QueueConnection queueCon = queueCF.createQueueConnection();
    QueueSession queueSession = queueCon.createQueueSession
    (false, Session.AUTO_ACKNOWLEDGE);
    QueueSender queueSender = queueSession.createSender(null);
    TextMessage msg = queueSession.createTextMessage("hello");
    queueSender.send(mdbQueue, msg);
    System.out.println("Sent message to MDB");
    queueCon.close();
    } catch(Exception e) {
    e.printStackTrace();
    But I get the following error:
    java.lang.NullPointerException
         at model.MDBAppClient.main(MDBAppClient.java:17)
    I read similar problem in the this thread:
    Re: message driven bean on ejb 3.0 does not work
    some one said that the version in ejb-jar.xml must be changed from 2.1 to 3.0
    but in this case there is no ejb-jar.xml.
    ( I have other cases with ejb-jar.xml file but I can't change the version in ejb-jar.xml)
    the version in web.xml is 2.4 but it not accept any value except 2.4 and an error occur when I tried to change it to 3.0
    please can you tell me why I get NullPointerException and how can I allow EJB 3.0 MDB and JMS to work in JDeveloper

    Note that you can't run MDBs in the embedded OC4J in JDeveloper - try deploying to a stand-alone install of OC4J and see if it works there.

  • Simple EJB 3.0 stateless session

    Hi,
    I want write a simple EJB 3.0 application on Sun System Java Application Server 9.0 , Can any one help me on the following topic
    1.how should develope a Stateless session.
    2. what are jar files are required
    3. where should place Bean, Business Interface and required files.
    4. Is ejb-jar.xml required. ( As of my knowledge deployement descriptor are not required for EJB 3.0, is it correct)
    5. how should i complie those files.
    6. how should generated RMI components
    If you know any good url on this please help me.
    Thanks, hope excepecting reply soon..

    1.how should develope a Stateless session.write business interfaces and bean classes. I would use an IDE like NetBeans 5.5 to automate some of these tasks.
    2. what are jar files are required You application will need $SJSAS_HOME/lib/javaee.jar
    3. where should place Bean, Business Interface and
    required files.In a jar file, at the root of this jar file. Then you can deploy this ejb jar file to server (using asadmin deploy, admin gui, or autodeploy). The server will scan your jar file and detect it's a ejb jar file and process all metadata.
    4. Is ejb-jar.xml required. ( As of my knowledge
    deployement descriptor are not required for EJB 3.0,
    is it correct)Not required. You can use annotation to provide most or all metadata.
    5. how should i complie those files.For simple cases, use javac should work. For example, javac -classpath $SJSAS_HOME/lib/javaee.jar:. -d /tmp/classes *.java
    But I would suggest using an IDE like NetBeans 5.5, which has various wizards to help you create bean classes and interfaces.
    6. how should generated RMI components

  • Problems deploying a simple EJB

    I am trying to deploy a simple EJB on the 8.1.5. The bean only owns a single method that needs a unique parameter.
    No problems with compilation of source bean, home and remote interfaces, whatever the type of this parameter is.
    But when I try to deploy the jar on the server, I only succeed if the parameter of my method is a simple type (int, String ...).
    If I try the same passing a complex type (here a oracle.xml.parser.v2.XMLDocument type), I encounter this message from the deployejb tool :
    Generating EJBHome and EJBObject on the server...
    Compilation errors in oracle/aurora/ejb/gen/test_myFluxInsert/EjbObject_FluxInsert:ORA-29535: source requires recompilationjava/lang/Object: Authorization error for referenced class Oracle/xml/parser/v2/XMLDocument.java/lang/Object: Authorization error for referenced class oracle/xml/parser/v2/XMLDocument.oracle/aurora/ejb/gen/test_myFluxInsert/EjbObject_FluxInsert:50: Class oracle.xml.parser.v2.XMLDocument not found in type declaration.
    public java.lang.String insereFlux (oracle.xml.parser.v2.XMLDocument arg0)
    ^ Info: 3 errors
    And if I use an int instead of the XMLDocument parameter, everithing's right.
    Can anybody submit a no-paranormal solution ?
    Thanks.
    GH

    Parameter passing in EJB must implement Serializable. One way to solve this is:
    1. Define a new class which implements
    Serializable.
    2. Place whatever you want to pass inside
    this class.
    3. Now use the new class as your parameter.
    eg.
    public class Params implements java.io.Serializable {
    String p1;
    XmlDocmuent xdoc;,
    etc, etc
    Your program now have to use the class Params for parameter passing.
    Hope this helps.

  • Trouble building kernel module for sensor support

    Hi, I'm new here but have been using Arch for a while.  Recently, I decided to install Arch on an old laptop (Toshiba A70) and have managed to work out most of the kinks to where it runs nicely.  Unfortunately, ACPI support is spotty and the /sys/class/thermal directory gives me only cooling_device0.  I installed the lm-sensors package and ran sensors-detect, which yielded no results.  Although the laptop runs smoothly otherwise, I would like to know the CPU's temp so that I would be able to set up a fan control scheme and CPU scaling (so far it's stuck at the lowest frequency, and that's kind of a big deal for me since the laptop runs on an archaic mobile P4 chip).
    Sorry for the story but I felt some context was necessary.  I did manage to find a kernel module that would connect those sensors to ACPI for me (http://sourceforge.net/projects/omnibook/), however I'm having trouble building it on the latest kernel.  Here is the output from running make:

  • Building weblogic ejbs with ant...

    Hi, it may be not the proper place, but I haven't found a better one...
    Here comes my question:
    I have an ant build.xml file where I have the following tasks defined:
    <property name="ejb.dtd.location" value="weblogic/ejb/deployment/xml/ejb-jar.dtd"/>
        <condition property="ejb.dtd.location" value="weblogic/ejb20/dd/xml/ejb11-jar.dtd">
          <equals arg1="${weblogic.major.version}" arg2="6"/>
        </condition>
        <property name="weblogic.ejb.dtd.location" value="weblogic/ejb/deployment/xml/weblogic-ejb-jar.dtd"/>
        <condition property="ejb.dtd.location" value="weblogic/ejb20/dd/xml/weblogic510-ejb-jar.dtd">
          <equals arg1="${weblogic.major.version}" arg2="6"/>
        </condition>
    <!-- compiles EJBs -->
      <target name="compile.ejb" depends="init">
        <javac srcdir="${srcDir.ejb}"
              destdir="${srcDir.ejb}"
                debug="${npm.debug}">
          <classpath id="ejb.cpath">
             <pathelement path="${weblogic.sp.path}"/>
             <pathelement path="${weblogic.core.path}"/>
             <pathelement location="${outDir.core}${file.separator}npm.jar"/>
             <pathelement location="${srcDir.ejb}"/>
           </classpath>
        </javac>
      </target>
      <!-- delivers EJBs -->
      <target name="make.ejb" depends="prepare, compile.ejb">
        <!-- ejbc 'n jar 'em -->
        <ejbjar srcdir="${srcDir.ejb}">
           <weblogic destdir="${outDir.ejb}"
                     compiler="${compiler.ejb}"

                     args="-g -nowarn"
                     oldCMP="false">
             <classpath refid="ejb.cpath"/>
           </weblogic>
           <include name="**/*-ejb-jar.xml"/>
           <exclude name="**/*-weblogic-ejb-jar.xml"/>
           <!-- WLS v5 DTDs!!! -->
           <dtd publicId="-//Sun Microsystems, Inc.//DTD Enterprise JavaBeans 1.1//EN"
                location="${ejb.dtd.location}"/>
           <dtd publicId="-//BEA Systems, Inc.//DTD WebLogic 5.1.0 EJB//EN"
                location="${weblogic.ejb.dtd.location}"/>
        </ejbjar>
      </target>This should build my ejbs with either the wls61 ejbc or the wls51 one. Anyway ant seems to have problems finding the local dtds in the classpath, although this is specified in the documentation. When I set both location attributes to point to files it works perfect. The problem is that these are in weblogic.jar for the wls61 release. This has two solutions, but either are bad in my opinion:
    1. extract the needed dtds to a temp dir with a jar task and then delete em...
    2. put the proper wls.jar in the classpath so ejbc could automatically resolve the dtds
    Can anyone help or may be send his ant build file, where a <dtd> nested element is used for <ejbjar> for wls61?
    Thank you in advance
    Anton

    Anton,
    Your second solution is the correct one. If you look at dtd element description under ejbjar task in the Ant manual, you'll see that vendors jars are required in Ant's classpath in order for ejbjar task to resolve DTD dependencies, in which case you don't need to specify dtd elements. I don't particularly like it either. If you find a better way to solve this problem, let me know.

  • Unable to deploy simple EJB example with J2EE Ref. Impl.

    Hi there,
    I'm new to EJB development so please bare with me. I've written a simple EJB, taken from Enterprise JavaBeans by Richard Monson-Haefel (O'Reilly). I can compile the code without problems, load it into the J2EE deployment tool (I'm using version 1.3.1 of the J2EE Reference Implementation), and have succesfully set up the data source and SQL commands for each persistent field.
    When it comes to deployment, I'm stumped with the following error:
    java.rmi.RemoteException: Error processing ejb jar: Compilation failed.
    Here's the stacktrace in the error logs:

  • How to create the simple EJB Applications.

    Hi
    I have asked about the what are the necessary softwares required for creating the Simple EJB Applications.
    I have
    Jdk 1.6,
    Netbeans 5.5,
    J2EE5 ,
    Apache Tomcat 5.5
    what are other necessary softwares?please tell me From where i get the source code samples?
    Please Tell me it is necessary for me..

    Hi U,
    Tomcat is only JSP/Servlet container -- no EJB support.
    Easiest is to download the Netbeans 6.1 bundle including Glassfish and JavaDB, thats all you need + JDK and Java EE of course.
    Glassfish has both web/JSP/Servlet-container and EJB-container, so Tomcat is not needed then.
    ( If for some reason you really want to use Tomcat, you can use it together with OpenEJB for example, to add EJB-support. )
