First center your parent container.
CSS:
     #wrapper {
          width: 900px; /**adjust width as req'd**/
          margin: 0 auto:
          overflow: hidden; /*to contain floats*/
          border: 1px dotted red; /*for demo purposes*/
HTML:
     <div id="wrapper">
          Everything else goes inside this container
     </div>

  • Javascript to put in a print button that prints the center of my pdf

    I have a manual which is 942x792pt and want in adobe reader when a print button is pushed it only prints the 8.5 x 11" (612x792pt) center section of the page layout.
    Tried to find a way to put navigation and print buttons outside a 81/2 x 11 page size but failed, now thinking this is an alternative option. Anyone come across a script which would do this or a method of putting nav buttons outside document print area.

    Here is an example of one someone has accomplished this in.

    Thank you in advance.

    You might consider using the app.addToolButton method to create your navigation buttons. When executed from a script within the document, the buttons appear in a floating window and don't go away when you adjust the zoom, as they do with the sample you linked to.

  • CS4 Div Tags Help Needed

    I just upgraded to CS4. In dreamweaver I am trying to build a
    site that I designed in Photoshop to Dreamweaver using all Div
    Tags. I can get the container to center, but when I place other
    divs on top, they wont stay where I put them. I have taken absolute
    positioning off, but then they fly off position totally. How to get
    around this? I have tried relative, fixed and inherit, all with the
    same result. I just cant figure it out. Can anyone help me?

    Most of which are erroneous guesses.

  • Help with floating a Div tag?

    I am having difficulty properly floating a div tag in my site.  The page is http://www.planetwhistler.com/bandbs.html  The Div on the bottom of the second column with 'content for right_bandb_div' goes here will not properly float to the right of the Div to the left of it.  I have floated the 'right_bandb_' div to the left with enough of a margin to clear the div tag in the first column, I have also put the code for 'right_bandb' before the code for the div to the left of it but for some reason it won't properly place itself.  Thanks for any help provided.

    I realize my Template isn't exactly like yours, but you can learn from it.
    http://alt-web.com/TEMPLATES/CSS-centered-round-boxes.shtml
    1) apply min-height values to all your .boxes.
    2) add a float clearing between rows.

    i tried to put at each line but wont work
    thank you

    actually, i just figured this out, but am still haveing issues... i have the container, then the other div tags inside of it. i am using the div tags as columns inside of the container, but the container background color (gray) does not go all the way down until the rest of the page ends, or where the body ends. i think that it has to do something with the "height:", but am not sure. is there any way that you can put one div tag equal to that of another div tag so that it goes down the whole page like it is suppose to?
    here is my code:
    .container
        background-color: #666666;
        width:75%;
        margin-left:auto;
        margin-right:auto;
        height: 100%;
    what is wrong?

  • Can you change the default code that targets a new window to change the content in a div tag instead

    I created a database for store locations.  I was able to display the list of stores.  Here though I don't want the list to show the number in front of it...  I still need to find the CSS to edit my results for this one.  However, more importantly, I don't want to open my results in a new window, I want to be able to target a DIV tag instead.
    This is the code that is created to display the list of stores.
    {module_webapps,5665,a,,,_blank,,50,,1}
    Currently it opens a blank window.  I'd like to target a div tag on the right of the list area where the store info can appear.
    Perhaps the gurus at adobe can upgrade this feature?  Target DIVs instead of new or blank windows, or using frames. Below is the screen of the links created from the DB.
    Below is the blank window that it opens.
    Would like to make it open in a div to the right of the list.  Not sure how to change to core code that was created to make that change.

    I'm doing something wrong.  I have the list showing the stores in CA
    <div class="flip" id="woodcontainer" style="width: 160px; height: 23px;">
    <h1>CALIFORNIA</h1>
    </div>
    <div class="panel">
    <script>
      $("#infochange").load("{module_webapps,5665,c,41140}"); /* this creates the list of stores in CA where #infochange is the DIV I am targeting.
    </script>
    </div>
    <br />
    The code for the DIV where I want the details to load.
    <div id="infochange"></div>
    This doesn't make sense because I need to have something in the DIV as a holder of some sort?

  • Quick question about div tags

    How do you make a div tag only as wide as the content that is
    inside of it, rather than the width of the cell that surrounds
    it?

    <div style="width:200px; float:left">
    Would give you a div 200px wide and floated to the left. You
    can similarly
    float another div to the right of this div etc. When you are
    done with a row
    of divs, you would want to clear the float so that the next
    set of divs
    starts with the extreme left as the reference point. To clear
    a float you
    would use style="clear:both;" or style="clear:left;" etc.
    Please do some
    reading on all this before you start experimenting else
    you'll run into a
    multitude of issues.
    You cannot lose until you give up !!!

  • AP DIV tags

    Back in 2003 when i was making web sites i would create the layout by using some sort of tag which i cant remember the name of. I think it was called a table tag (but definitly not the sort of tables you would get in MS word). It definitly was not a frameset.
    You would draw a "area" which i think appeared in green and then draw spaces within that area which things could be placed in.
    I cannot find this tag/function in dreamweaver cs5
    what i have discovered is a AP DIV tag which works in a similar way excet the boxes can be drawn anywhere and not limited to your pre defined area and the code for them appears in the head (the old one was in the body)
    does anyone know what i am talking about and are AP div tags a good alternative to my old method?
    also if i change the ID name these boxes convert into ordinary div tags (by that i mean the look like ordinary div tags in design view) why is this?

    I do like using AV divs to position objects like you would with indesign or ms publisher.
    you say its able to cause display problems due to resolutions and accessability
    I design my pages with 1024x768 in mind as this is typically the lowest resolution anyone will use but it is perfectally acceptable and sites which use it and fill the rest of the width screen with a background look clean. (this forum does this in fact)
    if AV divs are such a bad idea what is a good alternative method of page layout?
    Also ive noticed that divs and av-divs generate the exact same HTML code. so how exactly do they differ (other than the fact that dreamweaver lets you postition one in the same way you would position an object in indesign but does not allow this with the other)?

  • Div tag rendering issue in GroupLayout

    Hi,
    In my jspx page I have div tag to contruct a box with header inside that I am showing some data.
    So I have div class="planHeaderBox" in panelGroupLayout in my jspx1 page and this grouplayout will be refreshed from my bean class when ever I click on button in jspx1 page.
    Issue is every time I click on the button div tage is rendering and adding the headerbox in page(multiple boxes are coming), So how do I make div tag to be executed only once and when ever I click on button
    only the data should get refreshed not the div tag. Do I need to use switcher or any other way do I have?
    Please provide your inputs.
    Thanks in advance.

    That is the reason why you shouldn't do this.
    Can't you get your design using adf tags only?

  • Div tags - changing link properties

    Hi,
    My page has two colors. In the top is the navigation and the
    links need to be white due to the dark background. I did not plan
    to use links in the body itself, but have been forced. The body
    color is #efe9d1 and my links need to be dark. I am trying to use a
    different style I named .bodylink to accomplish this. I have used a
    div tag, and I am having the following problems. On my design view
    of the page all my linked fonts are bold and white. When I view it
    in my browser the navigation fonts are not bold and the second link
    is correct. (note: in design view the body does not view correctly,
    but the navigation does)
    My script is attached.
    Please tell me what I am doing wrong.

  • Where is the "Start New Row" check box when adding a div tag?

    Ever since I updated Dreamweaver, when i add a div tag i no longer see the "Start A New Row" check box. The only checkbox i see is "Insert as a Fluid Element". Has this option been removed or has it been moved to a new location?

    Hi MichaelMuirhead,
    We have updated Fluid grid in 12.2 release of DW as well as in CC release.
    Unlike before, Now DW smartly recognizes when a Fluid page is open and Converts Structure category to Fluid layout category.
    I.e. when any element is inserted from Structure category on to a fluid page it will be inserted with required CSS to make it fluid, Unless user advices otherwise.
    The idea is to enhance the support for almost all the structural elements as fluid elements, rather than just supporting Div as a fluid element. Hence, Insert Fluid Grid Layout Div Tag has been removed.
    Steps to Insert a fluid element:
    Select Insert > Layout.
    Select the element that you want to insert. (i.e Div or Header or footer etc) 3. In the dialog that appears, enter a new class name, or enter a value for the ID. The selected element is inserted on the layout.
    4) To insert a normal/non fluid element uncheck 'Insert as fluid element' check box in previous dialog.
    Now to answer second part of your concern " Regarding missing "Start A New Row" check box"
    All the elements inserted on a fluid page, start in a New row by default. If user wants to place the element in previous row then in can be achieved by clicking "Move Up a row" button which comes up on FG element HUD, after inserting that element.
    Please refer Screen shot for clearer understanding.
    For more details on update navigate to: http://helpx.adobe.com/dreamweaver/using/fluid-grid-layout-dreamweaver .html
    Here is the link to new Video on how to design a FG page using new FG in DW 12.2.
    http://blogs.adobe.com/dreamweaver/2013/02/updated-fluid-grids-in-dreamweaver.html
    Please note that "Layout" Category in 12.2 has been renamed to more appropriate sounding "Structure" Category in DW CC.
    Hope it helps.
    Kindly revert for any issues or concerns.
    Thanks,
    Puneet

  • How do you make div tags line up in Dreamweaver CS6?

    Is there any way to make the div tags indent so that the opening & closing tags line up vertically?  When use Apply Source Formatting, sometimes the ending tag is at the end of a line of code instead of wrapped to the next line and linked up with its beginning tag.  Are there any settings to make this happen or extensions for this?

    Thank you!  That works if I set the Line Breaks to "Before, Inside, and After."
    However, to help me visually divide each <div> container from the following code, is there anyway to either have Apply Source Formatting:
    Leave the line breaks I've inserted after each </div> tag, i.e., stop removing the link breaks I wanted
    Add another line break after the end </div> tag in my code?
