Truncating a filename, replacing datasetcomment values

Hello,
I am realitvely new to Diadem (using v10) and vbscript and I am having a problem. I have many .tdm files which need to be loaded, then data from the datasetcomments is to be read then saved in the new filename.
The problem I am having is that I am using FileDlgName in the process of opening a dialog box to ask for a file. If I then want to resave this file using that original FileDlgName, but without the last 4 letters (ie, without the .tdm extension) and then add a bit of info. ie. original is text.tdm and the new saved file is currently the output gives text.tdm_a_bit_more.tdm, and I would like it to say text_a_bit_more.tdm...I'm not really sure what to do!
I have tried using:
'Dialog box for entering filename
Call FileNameGet("Navigator","FileRead", "*.TDM")
Call DATAFILELOAD(FileDlgName) 'loads whatever data file is selected
'then to remove the .tdm part
dim filename = [(FileDlgName)] 'declares an array
dim nameOnly = Left(filename,Len(filename)-4)
but this doesnt seem to work! any ideas please?
I am also wondering if anyone knows how I can changed data from a dataset comment, eg. if datasetcomment(1) was 1-2-3, how would I replace the - with a _, ie so datasetcomment(1) read 1_2_3 , so I can then use this value in the filename.
I currently don't have any problems inputting the standard datasetcomment(1) into the filename.
Many thanks in advance for any help

many thanks, I got that part working now.
anyone any tips on replacing - in the file name with _ please (or a space with a _)? I realise this has sort have been answered before, but I'm having difficulty finding the correct "replace" term to use with this FileDlgFile term.
thanks again

Hi Experts,
I am facing one problem in reporting. I am in BI 7.0 environment.
Reports are export to EP everthing is good,
Issue:
one column displaying value like -733.534
my requirement is don't display this value istead of this should display same flag or colour ....
Root cause:
this fields is calculated in the reporting level, so this is not coming from any data target.
calculation: Days from two different Dates.
eg; offer given date - offer excepted date = Days( resulet)
I calculated by farmula with replacement path.
this -733.534 value is displaying only when any one of the two dates are missed then this value will displaying.
if both dates are in reporting calculated value is displyaing right. (currect result).
can any help me how to replace the value -733.534 by any flag or colour.

Hi,
You can achieve this by using exceptions in Query desigenr.you can put some colours for those values.

• How to replace NULL values from main table

Dear all,
I like to remove the NULL values from a main table field. Or the question is how to replace any part of the string field in MDM repository main table field.
e.g. I have a middle name field partly the value is NULL in some hundreds of records, I like to replace NULL values with Space
any recommendation.
Regards,
Naeem

Hi Naeem,
You can try using Workflows for automatically replacing NULLs with any specific value.
What you can do is: Create a workflow and set trigger action as Record Import, Record Create and Record Update. So, that whenever any change will occur in the repository; that workflow will trigger.
Now create an assignment expression for replacing NULLs with any specific value and use that assignment expression in your workflow by using Assign Step in workflow.
For exiting records, you will have to replace NULLs manually using the process given by Preethi else you can export those records in an Excel spreadsheet which have NULLs and then replace all NULLs with any string value and then reimport those records in your MDM repository.
Hope this will solve your problem.

• How to Replace Null Value as 0 in an OBIEE11g Pivot Table? it's working 10g

Hi,
How to Replace Null Value as 0 in an OBIEE11g Pivot Table? it's working in obiee10g version.
We have tried below methods
1) criteria tab and edit the ‘column properties’ associated with your fact measure. Choose the ‘Data Format’ tab, tick to override the default format and choose ‘Custom’.
It seems that the syntax for this custom format is positive-value-mask (semi colon) negative-value-mask (semi colon) null-mask. So this means we have a few options.
E.g. if you want zeros (0) instead of null then enter:
#,##0;-#,##0;0
2) in that formula columns we have put it below case condition also ,
Measure Column: Nom_amt --> edit formulas
CASE WHEN Nom_amt IS NULL THEN 0 ELSE Nom_amt END
3) we have uncheked IS NULL check box in the admin tool also
I tried above formats still it's not working for me..kindly help me on this..

Dear Venkat.
You please try the following steps:
1. Say the InfoObject is 0EMPLOYEE against which you have created the variable, which user is trying to select value against, when they execute the report.
2. Goto RSA1-> InfoObject tab-> Select InfoObject 0EMPLOYEE.
3. Selcet the following options:
Query Execution Filter Val. Selectn - 'Only Posted Value for Navigation'
Filter Value Repr. At Query Exec. - 'Selector Box Without Values'

• Replacing the value in a list

All,
A quick question. How do we replace the value of role attribute with some other value? When I try to set it, the new role is just getting appended. I wanted to remove the olde role and set the new role. I know I can remove the roles by setting . is there any thing similar to replace as well?
Thanks,
BIju.

Actually Biju, is exactly what you need - it is replace, not remove.
= Add and is the default behavior, as you've seen
= Delete and will clear all values for the attribute
= Replace - it will delete all existing values and add whatever values follow the like:
<newrolename>

• Replacing attribute value during runtime?

Ok Here we go... Is it possible to replace the value of an attribute during query runtime???
Here is what my user wants...They want the value of an attribute in a query (no the input selection) to change according to the current date for example:
If today is monday then the value of 0VTYPE in a query is 10.
If today is tuesday the same value of 0VTYPE in the same query would by 20.

We need to use "Key Date" concept.
Think you should get some idea by this link.

• Replacing a value of a node with CDATA (as is)

Hi All,
How do I replace the value of a node such that it's CDATA format is preserved and not re-encoded. Currently, when I do similar to the following:
replace value of node doc(doc_name)/parent/node with "<![CDATA[[the data]]]>"
the less than and greater than signs are replaced with &lt ; and &gt ; respectively, losing its CDATA section status.
How do I replace the value such that within the resulting XML it is exactly "<![CDATA[[the data]]]>" and not "&lt ;[CDATA[]the data]]&gt ;" ?
Thanks in advance

John,
I am aware that it's synatic sugar. However, I actually need it to look that way. Thing is after edits, the resulting XML will be read by a component (that I have no access to change) which requires that node to have CDATA (as is) as it's value.
Anymore ideas; Anyone?
Instead of replacing the value (ie. replace value of node doc()...), I replaced the node (ie. replace node doc()...) with something similar to: <node>CDATA-section</node>. However, as expected only the data within the CDATA section gets persisted.
In this case could I turn something off or on such that xmldb leaves the CDATA-section as is? e.g. http://www.xquery.com/tips_and_tricks/including_CDATA_in_results.html
Thanks,
Cecil

Hi all,
I am unable to do transform the source value to required target value,
From Source ADDRESS_TYPE = 'HOME' should be replaced with 03 to target field ANSSA, and 'MAIL' to be replaced with 05, I am trying to do it but i am unable to handle it, please give u r valuable suggestions,
The source structure is like this,
- <Event ID="239" TRANS_TYPE="ADR">
<PersAddr GEO_LOC_CD="US" EMPLID="29" ADDRESS_TYPE="HOME" EFFDT="02/15/2006" ADDRESS1="92nd Floor" ADDRESS2="812backstreet" ADDRESS3="" ADDRESS4="" CITY="London" COUNTY="" STATE="AN" POSTAL="EC2N 4AG1" COUNTRY="GBR" KEY1="29" KEY2="HOME" KEY3="02/10/2006" />

</Event>
REGARDS,
sridhar

Hi,
This can be done using user-defined function as well.
Code the function as...
if(Addr_Type.equals("HOME"))
return "03";
else if(Addr_Type.equals("MAIL"))
return "05";
else
return "Invalid Address Type";
Here, Addr_Type is Input String Argument for this function.
Map this function between ADDRESS_TYPE and ANSSA.

Hi Roshni,
I guess this CASE clause can be simulated by a DECODE and also it is very easy to use.
Refer -- http://www.techonthenet.com/oracle/functions/decode.php
select decode(t1.state,t2.state_id,t2.state_name), t1.count_id
from <table_2> t2, (select state,count(id) count_id
from <table_name>
where composite_dn= <composite_dn_name>
group by state) t1
where t1.state = t2.state_id;HTH

• Key probelm w. Generic EnumMap -- How to replace a value with unknown key?

Hi, i have a problem that i want to replace an value of an key/value pair, but I dont have the approiate key for that, to avoid passing the key throug all methods, I just implemented
a method in the delegate class.
public K getFirstAssociatedKey(BilanzObjekt bo){
Set<K> keys = this.container.keySet();
for(K key: keys){
V value = this.container.get(key);
if (bo == value){
return key;
return null;
}It works, but I can't use the retrieved key for a put-statement, cause the satic type comparision seems to fail. Even the key is retrieved from the original, the compilier is unable to validate that the key is in the approiate Enum, so it refuses the operation.
In my special case I can avoid this by returning the value to the calling mehod inside the delegate, but that can't be the solution for all cases. Even If i would pass the key-vaue through all methods, the universial declaraction of ? extends Enum<?> would raise the same problem, that the compiler can't verify if the given key ist part of the Enum of the current EnumMap.
Cause i still not an expert dfor generics, I might have overseen an solution.
So is there any way to retrieve valid keys for the put-method at runtime without declaring a specilized subtype? Using rawtypes would supress compiler-errors, but that isn't the way what Generics intends. I allready have some lager Enums and some subsuets with EnumSet. But this solution isn't absolutly clean, cause you have to use the EnumSet to Iterate over the map and can't use keySet() anymore (Without special preparations for the values not contained in the EnumSet). Also I don't want to limit the code to only one type of Enum. So I my looking for another solution.
Is there hoepfully any easy and gernerally solution to that problem?
Thanks a lot in advance.
Greetings Michael

Hi, I redesigned my programm a little bit by returning the Objeckt which should be replaced to the delegate, but this causes the problem that I know that it is the exact type, cause the previous value had the same type before, but I can't replace it as long I don't except a fixed type for the value-parameter of the EnumMap.
The workaround which worked with keys via Map.Entry, cause I didn't replaced them, don't work here.
I found a solution which works for me (after the redisign mentioned above), even it is quite dirty., cause it moves the error detection form compiletime to runtime. But to gain more flexibilty, i prefer this. The else clause is just to find some programming faults as early as possible. I was quite suprised that the cast to V is legal, but the put -method will throw a ClassCastEcxception if it is not. So its a trade off betwenn flexibility and early error detection. I'm sure that should not used widely, but is a soluion or workaround for my problem.
/* dirty cast */
V new_v = (V) old.getReplacingValue();
if ( new_v != null){
/* If the both instance are of the same base class, this operation is safe,
* Cause if the previous value was ok, then the new value must be also OK!
* This should be the default case.*/
if(new_v.getClass().getName().equals( old.getClass().getName()) ){
this.container.put(key,  new_v);
}else{
/* Otherwise a class-cast exception is most likely,
* but should normally not reached, if replacing methods are always returning the most specialized type and are overwritten in all subtypes. */
try{
this.container.put(key,  eBoNew);
}catch(ClassCastException cce){
cce.printStackTrace();

• Debug - Replacing constant values

Anyone know if there is a way to replace a value in debug of a data item declared as a constant ?

The problem is, I have a submit of another abap in the debugged program, one of the parameters for this submit is the user which is being set with a constant value. The user in the constant value, does not have appropriate authorisation to perform the task in the submitted program, so I wanted to be able to change it in debug.
SUBMIT ZBXXXXXXXX
USER C_USER <--- constant value containing user
VIA JOB P_JOBNAME
NUMBER  P_JOBNUM
WITH P_KEY IN INDEXKEY
WITH P_JOB EQ P_JOBNUM
AND RETURN.
If I can't change the value of C_USER then I don't think I can easily change the user being used to call the submit without changing the program.
any suggestions ?

• Replace several values in a column

I would like to use the replace function for one column to replace each value with another one. Function Replace does it for one value: Replace({FromWeek},"48","CW48" does work.
What is the correct statement to define a row of'replace'-statements for this column.
Replace({FromWeek},"48","CW48" AND Replace({FromWeek},"49","CW49" etc. leads to error messages. Does anyone have an idea?
Thanks, Martin

Hi Martin,
you can do it like that
Replace(Replace({FromWeek}, "48", "CW48"), "49", "CW49")
But if you really want to put CW in front of each week
"CW" + {FromWeek}
is easier
