Trying to create a fairly simple effect ... Help!

Okay, so let me see if I can 'splain this clearly and concisely:
I'm shooting a short scene for a little 24-hour competition. This is being shot inside a warehouse-style building. No windows. It's set in old mexico. I'd like to be able to cut away a section of the background wall (for the wide shots) and create the impression that we can see outside. Not looking to hang green screens or anything. Just want to create a quick, dirty matte and leave a hole in the image so I can layer it over another clip of footage of a mexican village from an old movie or something. The camera will be locked down for these shots.
Make sense? Thoughts?
Thanks!

Put your village clip over your warehouse wall clip, then use the rectangle mask tool to cut out a rectangle of it.
Or, put your warehouse clip over your village clip and use the rectangle mask tool on the wall, then invert the mask. That way it's easier to resize/repo your village footage...

  • "application descriptor not found" when trying to create .ane file

    I have been trying to create a very simple native extention for the better part of a week now and I just can't seem to figure it out.
    Using tutorials and guides from the following sources:
    http://www.adobe.com/devnet/air/articles/extending-air.html
    http://www.adobe.com/content/dam/Adobe/en/devnet/devices/pdfs/DevelopingActionScriptExtens ionsForAdobeAIR.pdf
    http://custardbelly.com/blog/2011/09/21/air-native-extension-example-ibattery-for-ios/
    I managed to get up to the point where I need to create the ane file, but I am getting "application descriptor not found".
    So, here is the detailed explanation of everything I have done to date. Can someone tell me where I have gone wrong?
    1. On the mac, I created an xcode project, using the iBattery example code from the link above, I managed to create static library .a file. I am not going to discount the possiblity that there are many errors still in this file, but I am going to assume for the moment that my current problem is not related to any issues in this static library.
    2. Copied the static library "DaveExtention.a" to my PC where I have flash CS5.5 installed (yes, I know there is a typo in the name)
    3. In my app folder, I created a lib folder that now contains the following files:
    D:\GoldSun\Source Code\Flash\ExtentionTest\lib\DaveExtension.fla
    D:\GoldSun\Source Code\Flash\ExtentionTest\lib\DaveExtension-app.xml
    D:\GoldSun\Source Code\Flash\ExtentionTest\lib\com\extensions\DaveExtension\DaveExtension.as
    D:\GoldSun\Source Code\Flash\ExtentionTest\lib\com\extensions\DaveExtension\BatteryStateEnum.as
    I set my project to compile an swc into the build folder and simply put the following code into my project:
    import com.extensions.DaveExtension.BatteryStateEnum;
    import com.extensions.DaveExtension.DaveExtension;
    var ext:DaveExtension = new DaveExtension;
    var batterystate:BatteryStateEnum;
    stop();
    I then publish the swc.
    4. Once the swc is created in the build folder, I copy the libDaveExtention.a to the build folder and create the extension.xml file, which looks like this:
    <extension xmlns="http://ns.adobe.com/air/extension/2.5">
      <id>com.extensions.DaveExtension</id>
      <versionNumber>1</versionNumber>
      <platforms>
        <platform name="iPhone-ARM">
            <applicationDeployment>
                <nativeLibrary>libDaveExtention.a</nativeLibrary>
                <initializer>ExtInitializer</initializer>
                <finalizer>ExtFinalizer</finalizer>
            </applicationDeployment>
        </platform>
      </platforms>
    </extension>
    5. I make a copy of the swc file and rename it to .zip... I then extract library.swf from it and delete the zip. My build folder now looks like this:
    D:\GoldSun\Source Code\Flash\ExtentionTest\lib\Build\DaveExtension.swc
    D:\GoldSun\Source Code\Flash\ExtentionTest\lib\Build\extension.xml
    D:\GoldSun\Source Code\Flash\ExtentionTest\lib\Build\libDaveExtention.a
    D:\GoldSun\Source Code\Flash\ExtentionTest\lib\Build\library.swf
    6. I downloaded the flex 4.5.1.21328 sdk and the Air 3.0 sdk, which I copied into the flex sdk folder (which is located in "D:\SDKs\flex_sdk_4.5.1.21328")
    7. In my build folder, I create a simple batch file called buildane.bat with the following command:
    D:\SDKs\flex_sdk_4.5.1.21328\bin\adl -package -target ane DaveExtension.ane extension.xml -swc DaveExtension.swc -platform iPhone-ARM library.swf libDaveExtention.a
    8. I then open a command prompt to my build folder and run buildane.bat and this is my output:
    D:\GoldSun\Source Code\Flash\ExtentionTest\lib\Build>buildane.bat
    D:\GoldSun\Source Code\Flash\ExtentionTest\lib\Build>D:\SDKs\flex_sdk_4.5.1.21328\bin\adl -package -target ane DaveExtension.ane extension.xml -swc DaveExtension.swc -platform iPhone-ARM library.swf libDaveExtention.a
    application descriptor not found
    No matter what I try, I can't get passed this.
    Can anyone tell me what I am doing wrong?

    >>D:\GoldSun\Source Code\Flash\ExtentionTest\lib\Build>D:\SDKs\flex_sdk_4.5.1.21328\bin\adl -package -target ane DaveExtension.ane extension.xml -swc DaveExtension.swc -platform iPhone-ARM library.swf libDaveExtention.a
    Either its a typo or by mistake you wrote adl in yout bat file. Change it to adt since that is the file that will package your ane. adl is just used for debugging/running on Desktop.
    Hope this helps. let me know how it goes.
    Thanks,
    Meet

  • How can I create a shadow text effect?

    How can I add a blur effect to text on a BufferedImage. I am trying to create a shadow text effect. Here is what I have currently.
    BufferedImage image = new BufferedImage(500,120,BufferedImage.TYPE_INT_RGB);
    Rectangle2D Rectangle = new Rectangle2D.Double(0,0,500,120);
    Graphics graphics = image.getGraphics();
    Graphics2D g2d = (Graphics2D) graphics;
    g2d.setRenderingHint(RenderingHints.KEY_ANTIALIASING,RenderingHints.VALUE_ANTIALIAS_ON);
    g2d.setPaint(Color.white);
    g2d.fill(Rectangle);
    g2d.draw(Rectangle);
    //Shadow text
    g2d.setRenderingHint(RenderingHints.KEY_ANTIALIASING,RenderingHints.VALUE_ANTIALIAS_ON);
    shadow = new TextLayout("Shadow Text", new Font("Serif", Font.BOLD, 70), g2d.getFontRenderContext());
    g2d.setPaint(Color.lightGray);
    shadow.draw(g2d, 13, 103);
    //Main text
    g2d.setRenderingHint(RenderingHints.KEY_ANTIALIASING,RenderingHints.VALUE_ANTIALIAS_ON);
    text = new TextLayout("Shadow Text", new Font("Serif", Font.BOLD, 70), g2d.getFontRenderContext());
    g2d.setPaint(Color.black);
    text.draw(g2d, 10, 100);
    I found a blur effect but it affect the whole image not just the shadow. Here is an example.
    BufferedImage image = new BufferedImage(500,120,BufferedImage.TYPE_INT_RGB);
    Rectangle2D Rectangle = new Rectangle2D.Double(0,0,500,120);
    Graphics graphics = image.getGraphics();
    Graphics2D g2d = (Graphics2D) graphics;
    g2d.setRenderingHint(RenderingHints.KEY_ANTIALIASING,RenderingHints.VALUE_ANTIALIAS_ON);
    g2d.setPaint(Color.white);
    g2d.fill(Rectangle);
    g2d.draw(Rectangle);
    //Shadow text
    g2d.setRenderingHint(RenderingHints.KEY_ANTIALIASING,RenderingHints.VALUE_ANTIALIAS_ON);
    shadow = new TextLayout("Shadow Text", new Font("Serif", Font.BOLD, 70), g2d.getFontRenderContext());
    g2d.setPaint(Color.lightGray);
    shadow.draw(g2d, 13, 103);
    Blur filter
    float ninth = 1.0f / 9.0f;
    float[] kernel = {ninth, ninth, ninth, ninth, ninth, ninth, ninth, ninth, ninth};
    biop = new ConvolveOp(new Kernel(3, 3, kernel));
    op = (BufferedImageOp) biop;
    image = op.filter(image,null);
    //Main text
    g2d.setRenderingHint(RenderingHints.KEY_ANTIALIASING,RenderingHints.VALUE_ANTIALIAS_ON);
    text = new TextLayout("Shadow Text", new Font("Serif", Font.BOLD, 70), g2d.getFontRenderContext());
    g2d.setPaint(Color.black);
    text.draw(g2d, 10, 100);

    I thought I answered that question?!
    In your code above, watch out for statement:
    image = op.filter(image,null); The resulted buffered image is new, so you are updating the reference held in variable image.
    Unfortunately variable g2d is still refering to a graphics object back by the original image, so:
    g2d.setPaint(Color.black);
    text.draw(g2d, 10, 100);renders on the first buffered image, not the second.
    Here's my code again, touched up a bit.

  • Trying to create a simple example. Need Help!

    I'm trying to create a very simlpe examlpe using Swing components to illustrate a MVC architecture.
    I have a JFrame containing a JTree and a JButton.
    What I'd like to happen is when I click the JButton the JTree model is changed in some fashion and the the view is refreshed due to the models change.
    If anyone out there has a simple example of any MVC architecture involving Swing components I'd love to see it.
    Thx

    Sure, look at any of the Sun tutorials. For example, look in your API documentation for JTree; it has a link to a tutorial about how to use JTree.

  • Trying to create Mouse over effect with more than one show image appearing in same cell

    Firstly this is the link to my test page: http://www.design39.co.uk/indexhope.html
    If you roll your cursor over the top left logo (the D&S) one it displays an image to the left. If you roll your cursor onto the next logo (Netnotts) it fades away again. Great. Exactly what I wanted and created in CSS (well done me as I don't normally do much with CSS but the new CS4 has very forced it).
    What I am trying to create is: When you roll onto the Netnotts logo, not only does the original image to the left disappear but a new relative one appears, this is to be for all the logos. In CSS I can only create it as far as I can. I have thought about using AP DIV tags to do it which would obviously work but to keep it in the right place, I would then have to align my whole website to the left instead of centered like it is and to be fair, that's not particularly pleasing to the eye as this is my own portfolio of work.
    I can do flash  to make 'pretty things' but have no idea about actionscript and java is way over my head but I am sure with some help I would be able to get it together as the that particular effect, although done in CSS, is running javascript I noticed.
    Many thanks in advance.

    A relative positioned layer? does this mean it knows how far to be away from the table as a pose to an absolute positioned layer which is lay 15px from the left? I need to be able to keep the positioning as its key, cant have the layer popping up in different places pending on the users browser size.
    I posted the question on a few forums and I got the following back: http://www.design39.co.uk/bla.html
    which is exactly what i wanted it to do but have no idea how to insert java script into my page; Further more, that was done in layers not table cells.
    Any ideas?

  • Im trying to create a "wobbling" effect with a bitmap

    im trying to create a "wobbling" effect with a bitmap
    any idea how to go with this with director?

    It somewhat depends on what the effect is intended to acheive.
    Here is a simple behavior script that can be applied to any bitmap. It wobbles, in the sense that it has a radom movement about its axis.
    That is acheived with the random() statements. The amount of wobble can be controlled by changing the value added to each parameter on each iteration.
    The last three statements keep the wobble from randomly walking off the frame. Again, wobble can be changed by setting the corrective value at which point the bitmap returns to its original state.
    Hope this helps.

  • Trying to create, what I thought, was a simple action to open pdfs and convert to jpegs...but.....

    Hello,
    I am trying to create a simple action/droplet that will open a bunch of PDF files and make them a certain resolution on the open and then save as jpegs to a particular file.
    The problem is, when I create the action, the first step, when I open the PDF file, whatever name was in the name box, is it??? Every new PDF opens with that same name and overrides the next one.
    Does anyone know how to work around this???
    Is there a way to tell Photoshop to pick the current name of the file opening and not use the one that was the original file that the action was created from?
    Any help is greatly appreciated.
    Thanks!

    I recieved an email from Paul a few days ago. He has been on holiday in Egypt. And his web site was hacked, not taken down by him. He is trying to get it back up. He had to change the domain name and says that he is not sure he restored everything but you can try looking here http://www.ps-bridge-scripts.talktalk.net/

    I'm trying to create an automator shell script to cut/paste. It'll function exactly like copy/paste. i.e. I'll just copy file/files with command+c like always, but then I'll create an automator which uses the "mv" terminal app to move the files which works exactly like cut paste.
    I need some help since I don't know the syntax for creating shell scripts.
    What I did so far is to do it in automator with Apple Script which goes like the following:
    on run {input, parameters}
    tell application "Finder"
    set theWindow to window 1
    set thePath to quoted form of (POSIX path of (target of theWindow as string))
    end tell
    tell application "Terminal"
    do script with command "mv \"" & input & "\"" & thePath in window 1
    end tell
    return input
    end run
    This gets the copied file path from clipboard before, as input, and then recognizes the active finder window as thePath so then executes the mv command for the input file to the thePath window.
    It doesn't work as expected since it connects both file/window paths into a single path instead of leaving a space between them so the mv command can't recognize two separate paths.
    What's the correct syntax for that line
    do script with command "mv \"" & input & "\"" & thePath in window 1
    to leave a space between input and thePath under the mv command?
    Also this requires the terminal app to be open in the background.
    After I get this to work I want to do the exact same thing using shell script within automator, so I won't need Terminal to be open all the time.
    And the next step will be to cut/paste multiple files/folders but that should be easy to do once I get the hang of it.

    Try using:
    on run {input, parameters}
    tell application "Finder"
    set theWindow to window 1
    set thePath to quoted form of (POSIX path of (target of theWindow as string))
    end tell
    do shell script "mv \"" & input & "\" " & thePath
    return input
    end run

  • Trying to create a Invoice based on Order need help Error -5002

    the dreaded -5002 error is haunting me too! and I could not find a matching solution for this in the forum....
    I need help quickly on this. I am trying to create invoices for some orders so the Base - Target relationship is retained. The orders I pick are all Open (DocStatus   = O and the lines are all Open LineStatus = O)
    here is my code
    oInvoice.Lines.BaseEntry = 48
    oInvoice.Lines.BaseLine = 0
    oInvoice.Lines.BaseType = SAPbobsCOM.BoObjectTypes.oOrders
    oInvoice.Lines.ItemCode = "A00001"
    oInvoice.Lines.ItemDescription = "IBM Infoprint 1312"
    'adding Line
    oInvoice.Lines.Add
    oInvoice.Lines.BaseEntry = 48
    oInvoice.Lines.BaseLine = 1
    oInvoice.Lines.BaseType = SAPbobsCOM.BoObjectTypes.oOrders
    oInvoice.Lines.ItemCode = "A00002"
    oInvoice.Lines.ItemDescription = "IBM Inforprint 1222"
    'adding Line
    oInvoice.Lines.Add
    lRetCode = oInvoice.Add
    If lRetCode <> 0 Then
        gObjCompany.GetLastError lErrCode, sErrMsg
        MsgBox (lErrCode & " " & sErrMsg)
    End If

    Indika,
    Only set your base types...
    (not items & description)
    oInvoice.Lines.BaseEntry = 48
    oInvoice.Lines.BaseLine = 0
    oInvoice.Lines.BaseType = SAPbobsCOM.BoObjectTypes.oOrders
    oInvoice.Lines.ItemCode = "A00001"
    oInvoice.Lines.ItemDescription = "IBM Infoprint 1312"
    'adding Line (to fill the second item line)
    ' the 1st line item is there by default
    oInvoice.Lines.Add
    oInvoice.Lines.BaseEntry = 48
    oInvoice.Lines.BaseLine = 1
    oInvoice.Lines.BaseType = SAPbobsCOM.BoObjectTypes.oOrders
    oInvoice.Lines.ItemCode = "A00002"
    oInvoice.Lines.ItemDescription = "IBM Inforprint 1222"
    'DO NOT Add THIS line
    ' (only if you want to add a 3rd line item)
    '''oInvoice.Lines.Add -> Don't add this
    lRetCode = oInvoice.Add
    If lRetCode <> 0 Then
        gObjCompany.GetLastError lErrCode, sErrMsg
        MsgBox (lErrCode & " " & sErrMsg)
    End If
    remember to add :
    oInvoice.CardCode = "your BP"
    oInvoice.DocDueDate = Now
    oInvoiceDoc.CardCode = txtDOCBPCode.Text

  • Trying to create a brush to watermark my photos. HELP!!

    So, Im trying to create a brush to watermark my photographs, but the 'define brush preset' isnt clickable, but it is clickable with any other photo i try it with. What am i doing wrong? can someone please help me? It's quite frustrating.

    Haw large in Pixels is the image?
    And quite frankly I would recommend creating a Path and using »Embed Path« instead of a Brush as Actions that include Paths can be more easily transferred without the risk of forgetting the Brushes.

  • Help trying to create a button in safari please.

    trying to create a button that runs an applescript. I have been discussing it in 101 but cross posting it here because it's not getting much interest over there.
    Any help would be nice. I have read Become an xCoder and it doesn't seem to answer my questions.
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1514799&tstart=0

    Is there no way to create an appcontroller that works like an applescript? Or get an applescript to be recognized so a new NSButton added to the Bookmark bar be activated?
    i.e.
    *tell application "System Events"*
    * tell application "Safari" to activate*
    * keystroke "n" using {command down}*
    * delay 0.1*
    * keystroke "l" using {command down, shift down}*
    *end tell*
    Or,
    _Something Like:_
    / AppController /
    *#import <Cocoa/Cocoa.h>*
    *@interface AppController : NSObject*
    *IBOutlet id NSButton;*
    *-(IBAction) autoFill:,delay 0.1,checkSpelling:(id)sender*
    @end
    I really don't know if that AppController looks anything like it should or if it's even close.
