Trying to create a wire frame object in 3D

Hi Folks, I am trying to create two objects: something called a gravity well and a wire framed globe in Photoshop 3D CS6. The examples are here: http://www.carreonphotography.com/3D/   #'s 1/5 and 5/5. I tried using a gradient map to create a depth map but the form is not editable if I understand PS 3D correctly. Only the scale, light, texture and perspective.
The surace of the gravity well needs to be a  white wire grid pattern over black with. The globe is basically the same. Can this be accomplished on Photoshop CS6 3D or do I have to farm this out to a 3D guy.
I have included samples of my objectives: #1 and 5 plus screen shots of what I ended up with, the form of which was uneditable based on what I understand. I also don't know how I would create the wire frame once I have the form.
I deally I would use the final images as png's on a 2D suface which I would later wrap onto a 3D surface.
Any thoughs please!

As recommended by someone on the forums I started with a 32 bit grid map but knocked it down to 16 bits to speed up the 3d engine. Was my thinking correct? Can I use a gray scale image instead so PS CS6 doesn't get bogged down?
I used an 8-bit grayscale image for the grid and I rendered to 16-bit output (i.e. my main document's mode was 16-bit RGB). Rendering to floating point 32-bit output images can have advantages when using illuminants with realistic intensities but it usually requires subsequent tone mapping. I don't think your illustrative image will benefit from that, so I recommend you render to 16-bit.
There is absolutely no reason to use a 32-bit per channel image for that grid opacity texture. The grid has only black and white and is entirely horizontal and vertical lines, so you should be able to get away with a 1-bit per pixel texture, but use an 8-bit grayscale texture because I know that works in Photoshop
The output of the final document is 5000 X 5000 pixels but the gravity well is but small element in the background so I have made it 3000 by 3000. If the 3D engjine is using vector math to draw the lines, does size even matter?
The polygons making up the surfaces that are rendered will be calculated with vector maths but the size of the opacity texture should be large enough to prevent it becoming fuzzy due to upscaling to cover the surface area when rendering an image of a given size. Remember that a texture can be tiled (up to ten times in each direction) to repeat over a surface (using the UV Mapping Properties), so your grid doesn't need to define every "square" of the well.
Can't figure out how to move a point light from the bottom so it matches the second example. I like the way this artist handles transparency in his grid. Can you tell me now to move the light. The interface is different than in CS5 tutorials.
Click on a point light with the Move Tool to activate its manipulator then drag on the heads of the red, green and blue arrows. You might want to switch view to each of the top, right and front views to aid alignment. You can store the current 3D view before changing then return to it. There's a secondary view window that can be enabled, which would aid with alignment, but it doesn't show lights for some reason.
Is it possible to select all the shape layers containing horizontal lines and change their width simultaneously? I am doing so one layer at a time.
Do you mean to scale the width of the lines without scaling their offset?

    I am working on MDI application which was developed in VC++ in VS 2012. When my application is launched, it will display a Tree. Under a tree there are 254 nodes. Basically
    these nodes data are read from Configuration xml file and loaded into the Tree. By double clicking on each node, first it will create object for document class ( By calling CreateNewDocument() method) after that member variables for that
    document class will be initialized and then it will create the new frame window (by calling
    CreateNewFrame(pDoc,NULL). New child frame window will show under Main window to the user.
    User able to see the data from child frame window.
    Similarly by double clicking on each node it will create another object for the same document class and new child frame window will be opened for that node. Each child frame window runs
    in different data and showed under the Main window.
    Existing requirement by double clicking on each node, node data shall show in separate child window and there is no requirement for all 254 child windows opened simultaneously.
    But current requirement is , all 254 child windows shall open simultaneously by double clicking on each node one by one.
    In debug mode I have tried double clicking on each node. I able to open up to 50 nodes. After 50th child windows are opened, I unable to access to the application
    (Unable to open further node data window since application is getting hanged).
    Each child window is having tree, multiple splitter window and some additional controls (static text, ...).
    Same I have tried in release mode, I able to open up to 136 child windows. After that the application fail to create the new frame window in VS 2012. i.e CreateNewFrame() return
    NULL after successful created 136 child frame window. Debug purpose I have added the code to retrieve last error code by calling GetLastError() method. I got the value as "0". By closing any existing child window then I able to open remaining nodes.
    At any point of time I can reach maximum of 136 child frame window that can be opened under Main window. Failing to open all 254 child frame window
    simultaneously,  currently I fail to meet the current requirement.
    current Requirement is all 254 child frame window are opened simultaneously. Please let me know what may be the reason fail to create new frame window after 136 frame window that are

    Have you checked how much memory your application used? You could check it by Task Manager. Maybe your application reach Memory Limits for Windows.

    Is it possible that there are some memory leaks in your application? It would better if you have made a simple sample to reproduce and narrow down this issue.

  • Trying to create a Histogram type/object for aggregate functions

    Hi,
    I am trying to create an aggregate function that will return a histogram
    type.
    It doesn't have to be an object that is returned, I don't mind returning
    a string but I would like to keep the associative array (or something
    else indexed by varchar2) as a static variable between iterations.
    I started out with the SecondMax example in

    But even seems that even a simpler aggregate function like one strCat
    below (which works) has problems because I get multiple permutations for
    every combination. The natural way to solve this would be to create an
    associative array as a static variable as part of the Histogram (see
    code below). However, apparently Oracle refuses to accept associate
    arrays in this context (PLS-00355 use of pl/sql table not allowed in
    this context).
    If there is no easy way to do the histogram quickly can we at least get
    something like strCat to work in a specific order with a "partition by
    ... order by clause"? It seems that even with "PARALLEL_ENABLE"
    commented out strCat still calls merge for function calls like:

    care about the order in which it gets its arguments and does not need to
    maintain an ordered set in order to return the correct results. A good
    example of a built in oracle function that does care about all its
    arguments and probably has to maintain a similar data structure to the
    one I want is the PERCTILE_DISC function. If you can find the code for
    that function (or something like it) and forward a reference to me that
    in itself would be very helpful.

    GraphicsConfiguration is an abstract class. You would need to subclass it. From the line of code you posted, it seems like you are going about things the wrong way. What are you trying to accomplish? Shouldn't this question be posted in the Swing or AWT forum?

  • Messagw while trying to create Business partner (BP) object for Recruiter

    Hi,
    We have upgraded E-Recruitment from EHp2 to EHP4.
    When I tried to access Recruiter dash board through recruiter ID, I got error "You are not authorized to see this". After checking it is found that business partner object is not created for Recruiter ID. So tried to create through program RCF_Create_user. But while running this report, I am getting message like "candidate number is already exist" and I am not able to proced further. I checked relationship A650, also table HRP5102 for candidate details for this Recruiter personeel number. But no where it is available.
    Could anybody please tell how to proceed on this? Where to see candidate details for an employee? How to delete candidate details if exists so that I can create business partner object again via program RCF_create_user.
    Anybody's help is appreciated.

    Hello Purnima,
    as you started from an authorization error message, have you tried to assign SAP_ALL to the user and check if the application was working? Did you regenerated SAP_ALL after the upgrade as otherwise the authorization for the new application might still be missing.
    I first thought the BP relation was missing after your upgrade but in your 2nd post you said you deleted CP-BP relation among others. Was this a typo or was the relation existing but the business partner missing. This would be very suprising as it is not that easy to get rid of one.
    It is very strange if RCF_CREATE_USER is still not working after deleting all relations. If you only deleted one relation from CP it might be necessary to delete the other direction for all objects being internal. BUT be aware! Changing HRP1001 data this way will lead to inconsistencies in the system.
    The only additional thing which comes to my mind is the integrated installation. Here the user for the candidate is not read from HRP1001 but directly from the PA infotype 0105. So there might be another candidate joined to the user this way if you use an integrated landscape.
    But before you start changing hrp1001 by hand please always get the CP id for the candidate, go to SE80, open class cl_hrrcf_candidate and test the get method. (you need the cp id as you have to enter the first id on the method test screen, the others won't work due to the usage of "is supplied" in the method combined with the methgod tester). In the result check if there is really no BP Id resolved.
    If the relation or the bp object really got lost during the upgrade, I'd check if this is a single case or more candidates were effected. If so I'd in every case get in contact w/ sap suppport.

    We are trying to create and bind view objects dynamically to adf data visualization components.
    The view object is a result of multiple tables.
    We are using Oracle JDeveloper 11g Technical Preview. ( can't upgrade to TP2 or TP3 now).

    The sample application however, is in 10g , hence required migration.
    Also, it was a standalone application with the TestClient.java having a main() method.

    What you are trying todo is not trivial because you need to not only dynamically create the VO, you would also dynamically need to create the binding meta data for it (assuming you use ADF). Not sure if the API to modify the binding is public, so posting it on the JDeveloper 11 forum bears a glimpse of hope for an answer

  • Creating Scrollable text frames in InDesign

    I've been trying to create scrollable text frames in InDesign CS6 and, for the life of me, cannot figure out how to do so for an interactive PDF. 
    I've done so for touchscreen devices before through DPS and the scrollable frame option, but I've never tried to do it for something non-touchscreen/mobile.  I don't even know if it's possible, but I am sending this to someone who may not have touchscreen access with touchscreen scroll functionality and I wouldn't want to risk a good portion of text to go unread because of a lack-of functionality.
    So, I guess my question is:  Is there a way to create a scrollable text field for an interactive PDF that could be scrolled through using a mouse or keyboard?

  • How to create a live trace object with transparent background?

    Hi, I am trying to create a live trace object of my logo in ai. The logo is coming from photoshop on a transperent background, and it is all black. What I want to do is to bring it into ai and make it an object for obvious reasons. The problem I have had is that when I live trace it, the live trace leaves a white background which then overlaps with other objects in my ai file. Is there a way to live trace while preserving the transparent area or possibly better, to not include white space in the live trace? Thanks in advance!

    Yep open the properties for live trace (Object>Live Trace>Tracing options). You will find a checkbox for ignore white.

    Since each position in an array can only hold one value, the first assignment (line 2) is overwritten by the second assignment (line 4)
    When I said "construct a new room-object and assign it to rooms[index]" I meant something like this:

    Hi Melissa - thanks for your interest. Here's the first frame, the second frame and the tween frame. I don't understand why the tween is changing the position of the object in frame 2, was expecting it to just fade from one frame to the next.

    do i create an item using d2fitmcr_Create, and then set the type or style to frame? or is it a graphics item that i have to create using a different function? ive tried various combinations with no luck.

    I find that if you have multiple 3d object  they must be merged into a single 3d layer their positions reset to align to the same axises then sized and positioned along them.     I have created and compiled the following classes within
    C:\bea\wlserver6.1\config\mydomain\applications\DefaultWebApp\WEB-INF\classes
    1)LoginServlet
    2)LoginManager
    3)I have LoginServlet trying to create an object of type LoginManager, very simple,
    but I get the following errors:
    Cannot resolve symbol: LoginManager lm = new LoginManager();
    ^
    Cannot resolve symbol: LoginManager lm = new LoginManager();
    ^
    4)I have the .java and .class files located within the same directory, so I don't
    see what's wrong here??? HELP!
