Trying to keep my unlimited

So I currently have 5 lines.  3 of which have unlimited data.  There are no upgrades available.  I'm considering terminating one of the other 2 lines early.  When terminating your line early, contact customer service.  Your etf will depend on how long you have had that line.  For example, one of my lines I've had for a year. My etf would only be $230.  Then I could add another line back onto the account, get the iphone 5 for the discounted fee instead of paying the full retail price, switch that to my # with unlimited data.  I should then be able to continue with my unlimited data.  Given this is easier for me, as 2 of my lines, are not regularly used so giving up the phone # will not really affect us.

I called and spoke with customer service tonight and asked her specifically if I could do this and she never mentioned not being able to add a new line for 60 days. She said I would pay the ETF and I could purchase a new phone and add a line.. hmmmmm

  • Hoping to keep my unlimited..... help!?!?

    Hi there,
    I have been reading posts about people trying to keep their unlimited data plans and I am hoping I might fall into the possibilities.  I have a family plan with two upgrades available (one on the main (smart) line and one on a "dumb phone."   I want the Iphone 5 and my husband just wants to upgrade to a new "dumb phone."  Given what I have read I am wondering can I do the following:
              a.  Upgrade his line to the Iphone choosing the 2gb plan
              b.  When his phone arrives, call and have it transfered to my line and the data plan on his line removed
              c.  transfer my "upgrade" to his line so that he can then order a new "dumb phone"
    what i am hoping for is two new phones, one i phone and one dumb phone and to keep my 30.00 unlimited data plan.... will it work?

    I know the chances are slim but a girl can dream right?  I know there are people out there who have had an upgrade on a "dumb" line and have pulled it off.  I have four lines and I have two eligible upgrades, so I was hoping to pull the "dumb" trick and then later transfer my upgrade over to him, since they let you move the upgrades around.  I wasnt thinking to do it in one fail swoop as I know that would never jive.  I guess it just kills me how expensive this has all gotten and if I can find a way to keep the plan that I have and just carry it forward as a month to month than I have got to try.  Worst thing that can happen is that they say no and I end up paying for one of their new data packages.  I guess without knowing all the nitty gritty about the data packages I have to wait and see what my local verizon guys are able to tell me... can I just drop the data plan?  can I make the upgrade later?  can I keep my unlimited if I dont sign a contract?  I know if you pay for your iphone outright you can....  worth a shot!  It just kills me to forkout that much for a phone, I have always gotten a deal..... when i got my droid 2 I bought it through walmart and paid 39.99 and then they gave me a 100.00 walmart giftcard, so essentially they paid me....  maybe my lucky streak ended on that note....

  • How to keep the Unlimited verizon data plan when upgrading to iphone 4s?

    How can I keep my unlimited data plan when upgrading to a IPHONE 4s???
    I tried everything!!! I have an apple giftcard so I want to use it through apple.com but It wont let me keep my unlimited data plan

    The terms of your data/phone plan are solely determined by your carrier, in this case Verizon.  It is up to them if they wish to allow consumers to carry over the existing terms of their plan.  Hence, the thing you need to do is contact Verizon customer service and ask them to carry your terms over with your upgrade.  I'm hoping if you ask nicely they may do it.
    Hope this helps

  • Can I keep my Unlimited Data if I use my husbands upgrade?

    The last phone I bought was the iPhone 5s and at that time I was able to use my husbands upgrade and keep my unlimited data...then he used my upgrade...I am wanting to do the same thing. Do I still have that option and will I be able to preorder over the phone at 12:01am to do it?

        That's a good question and the new iPhones are nice hl7272! If you and your husband are on separate accounts, you will be able to activate the new phone on your line, (account), and keep your unlimited data. However, if you're on the same account, you won't be able to do the Alternate Upgrade and keep unlimited data. Even if you're using your husband's upgrade, when the phone is activated on your line, you will need to choose from a current data plan.
    Thank you,

  • HT4528 I currently use Verizon and have a Blackberry with an unlimited data plan. Is there a way I can buy an unlocked iphone and keep my unlimited data plan bypassing Verizon's requirement to get a new plan with a 2 year committment?

    Is there a way to purchase a new iPhone and to continue my unlimited data plan without having to sign a new 2 year committment and new plan with Verizon?

    You don't buy an unlocked phone. You buy a Verizon iPhone at full retail. I just did this myself last month. I paid full retail for the phone and activated it on my plan. This allowed me to get a new phone before I was eligible to upgrade and keep my unlimited data. I also got a good deal on trading in my iPhone 5.
    You can buy the phone through Verizon or through Apple. If you buy it through Apple, I'd suggest that you not have them activated but do that yourself by logging into your account on your computer.
    Best of luck.

  • Trying to keep my email

    This is not Scott but this is the only way I've found to communicate with a person at Verizon.  I (sundoc) have tried to keep my email and got what is, in all honesty, a typical Verizon experience -- I went through the process of logging on, agreeing to all the conditions, entered my credir info, and got kicked back to "log in".  Did, or did I not, actually finish the keep my email process?

    Hi there and sorry you've had such a rough time getting an answer.  First, it is very important that your Verizon account still be active when you are trying to keep the email.  Is it?  Did you ever receive an email confirming that the address had been purchased?  Let us know and we're happy to help you get this issue resolved.

    I have just purchased my first iPod touch and I cannot transfer my music from my laptop. The sync button does not appear to work. What have I done wrong? I am a grandma trying to keep up with technology please help.

    Connect it to your computer and restore it as a new device. Then chose what music you want to sync with it and do so just like your Touch does.

  • Trying to keep track of how many objects I create

    Hello everyone I'm trying to keep track of how many message objects I created and Assign them to a data member.
    Right now it assigns all the Message objects the same number at the end which is 3. I wanted it to assign 1 to the first object it create, 2 for the 2nd, and 3 for the 3rd.
    here's a small version of my code:
    package ss;
    import java.util.ArrayList;
    import java.util.Iterator;
    public class MainTest {
         public static void main(String [] args)
              Message msg = null;
              ArrayList<Message> msgList = new ArrayList<Message>();
              for(int i = 0; i < 3; i++)
                   msg = new Message();
                   msgList.add(msg);
              System.out.println(msgList);
    package ss;
    //this class will hold the Event/Message
    import java.util.List;
    import java.util.HashMap;
    import java.util.Map;
    import java.util.ArrayList;
    import java.util.Set;
    import java.util.Iterator;
    public class Message {
         //these are datamembers that will be used during
         //the sending of the message to the reciever
         //PacketID should be incremented each time a new message is created
         static int PacketID = 0;
         Message()
              PacketID +=1;
         public String toString() {
              return("PacketID: " + this.PacketID
                        + "\n");
    }output:
    [PacketID: 3
    , PacketID: 3
    , PacketID: 3
    Any ideas what I'm doing wrong?
    Thanks!

    Thanks BigDaddyLovehandles,
    Well there's the problem, I just posted a simpler problem to a bigger one. So I am keeping them in a collection as you can see below.
    I'm keeping these message stored in a multi map, and it is multi-threaded. Everytime a user connects to my server I create a new thread, and start adding the "messages" to the database.
    But I must have a packetID, meaning every new message created I need to assign that number to the message object.
    I also see a problem with this like you said, its not thread safe, if 2 clients connect to the server, and both send me events, there are going to be 2 different maps, copying events from the client and storing them in their own seperate databases.
    This might not be a problem because after I get the events on each thread, i send them to another server for processing.
    Here's an example of what my database looks like that stores the messages:
    //this class should store all the Messages or "Events" and
    //you can access them based on their Serial key.
    public class MessageDB {
         //database to hold the information
         //     holds the Alerts/messages
         Map<String, List<Message>> AlertMap;
         //Constructor
         MessageDB() {
              AlertMap = new HashMap<String, List<Message>>();
         //print, outputs the contents of the hashMap
         public void print() {
              //want to print out the Key and all the Messages
              //associated with that key
              //print, outputs the contents of the hashMap
                   for (String key : AlertMap.keySet())
                        System.out.println("\n\nSerial (key): " + key
                                  + "\nValues in Map: \n" + AlertMap.get(key));
         void add(Message msg) {
              //getting the position of the List by EntityID if avaiable
              List<Message> AlertList = AlertMap.get(msg.Serial);
              //checking to see if there is a unique Key already in the Map.
              if (AlertList == null) {
                   //if there isnt a key in the map, add a new key, and a new List mapping
                   //to the key EntityID;
                   AlertList = new ArrayList<Message>();
                   AlertMap.put(msg.Serial, AlertList);
                   AlertList.add(msg);
              } else {
                   //adding message to List
                   AlertList.add(msg);
         }Any suggestions on what I can to number all these messages and it will be thread safe?

  • Could not reserve record(n tries). Keep trying?

    Hi all,
    I am not getting the message "Could not reserve record(n tries). Keep trying?" when i have modified the same record in another session from the same form.
    What could be the problem?? any ideas?? will be greatly appreciated.
    ThankYou
    PVKiran

    what is your lock statement?
    LOCK TABLE XXX IN ROW SHARE MODE
    or
    SELECT ...FOR UPDATE will not issue any error message even if someone is holding the lock on the same record you are attempting to update.
    use NOWAIT will force the error out.

  • CAUTION MESSAGE on form: 'Could not reserve record [2 tries]. Keep trying?

    While entering the details on Assignment form, the screen froze and eventually it stopped responding due to which I had to close the application.
    Now I am not able to key in any info. I keep getting a CAUTION dialogue box with message *'Could not reserve record [2 tries]. Keep trying?'*

    The error suggests, the same record is being used by other users. If possible, bounce the database to release locks on the table. If not possible, you need to find the session that locked the table. And kill the session to release the lock.

  • Can i keep my unlimited if....

    hi so im thinking about getting a Galaxy Note 2. i got the money to pay full price but id rather try to get it cheaper. i have a family plan. 2 lines with unlimited data and 2 with tiered data. would one of the following be possible to keep my unlimited data?....
    1) could i open a new line to get the Galaxy Note 2 on contract, transfer the Galaxy Note 2 onto my line and then activate a flip phone onto that new line?
    2) i have an early upgrade on my line. could i transfer the upgrade to one of the tiered data lines (they both dont got upgrades until 2013) and then get the Galaxy Note 2 and transfer it to my primary line?
    thanks for any help

    Option 1 is viable.
    Option 2 will cause you to lose your unlimited data plan no matter which line you transfer the upgrade to. Any way you slice it, you would be renewing the contract on your line of service.
    How would he lose unlimited data with option 2? He's upgrading the line with tiered data to the note then transferring it to his line.
    His line has the unlimited data and was eligible for the upgrade.  His wanted transfer HIS line's upgrade to another line.  That would mean HIS line would have the contract extension and loss of the unlimited data plan.

  • Will I be able to keep my unlimited data?

    I have been on a family plan for over 10 years and we have unlimited data. Last year I decided to upgrade to the galaxy note 2 even though the rep said I was going to lose my data and be downgraded to 2GB per month. They said that even though my data changed I would still be able to be part of the family plan. After I had gotten the device I discovered that i still have unlimited data and I have confermed this with verizon. My question now is if I want to upgrade to the galaxy note 3 is there any way that I could keep my unlimited? I feel that after having unlimited on the Note 2 that it is definately worth it to pay the full retail price for the device and keep the unlimited then to lose it. I would be willing to stay on or get of the family plan as long as I could get the Note 3 with unlimited data.
    Thanks,
    Alex

    The previous answer did actually miss another option with two variations--many people have had luck to this point in one of two additional ways:
    *Add a line to the family plan as a smartphone (2GB/1GB or less plan for data) and pair it with the phone you want (Note 3 in this case)... activate, transfer to the existing line, and remove the data plan on the dummy line.  You can populate that line with a dumbphone and have the standard 9.99/mo features that would leverage your family plan (IE--shared minutes, texts, whatever) or you can leave it dead.  The overhead (beyond the subsidized cost of the phone) amounts to the $239.76 over two years ($9.99 * 24 mo).  Altogether, it's still cheaper than outright purchases by 100.00 to 200.00.
    *If you have existing dumbphone (featurephone, non-smartphone) lines that are up for renewal, and are willing to keep them on the same phone they have today, you can do the same as above.
    What you can't do is renew your own line--no matter how it's done, you'll lose the feature.

    My MBA fans start running when I play video too - the CPU's video processor is working pretty hard to decode the video. The fans job is to provide better airflow.  The time to worry is when you play video and the fans don't run.
