Trying to reference a dynamically named object

Hi. I'm trying to make an interactive deck of cards and am
mostly done (
http://cards.positivedesign.co.uk
) but i'm having a slight problem. If you click on the link above
you'll see a pile on the right, click on the pile and the top card
lifts and flips into the center. Click on the right pile again and
the center card moves down to a pile on the left, and the next card
flips up to the center, and so on. The problem occurs when you
click on the right pile the 3rd time, the center card moves down to
the left, but goes BELOW the pile rather than on top of it.
I know WHY its doing this - i'm using the child index of the
cards to select which cards to flip, so if you click on a card on
the right and it has an index of 5, it moves the card with index 6
from the center to the left, etc. - I'm just not sure of another
way to do it. I tried naming the cards by numbers, so the top card
has a name of '1', and then I used a currentCard variable to keep
track of which cards I should be moving. However this wouldn't work
when I tried to select which object to tween, because I was
referencing 'cardLayer.currentCard' rather than say,
'cardLayer.card1'...
Hope that all makes sense. I'd appreciate any suggestions on
where I'm going wrong, or a better way of doing it?

a clean solution, nice

• Dynamically naming objects

I'm looking for a way to name my objects, without having to name them in hard-code, so instead of
Item randomName = new Item();I could do something like
for(int i=0;i<10;i++){
Item i = new Item();
}Which would hopefully give me 10 new items, named 1-10. I'm sure this must be possible, but I imagine I am approaching it completely wrong. And help would be appreciated.

Okay. I'll forget trying to give them names. And read up about ArrayLists. Thanks for the help. Like I said I think I'm just approaching it wrong.A List (like ArrayList or LinkedList) is what you'd use if you don't carea about duplicates, but do care about the ordering of the things, but you only want to access them sequentially or by index.
A Set (like HashSet) is what you'd use if you don't care about order, don't want duplicates, and are going to process them sequentially (as opposed to picking one out by "name").
If you want no dupes AND care about order, use a LinkedHashSet (to preserve insertion order) or a SortedSet (like TreeSet) to keep them sorted by some attribute(s).
If you want to retrieve things randomly by "name" or some other non-numeric property, use a Map (like HashMap).

• How to create dynamically named objects?

I want to create some numbered XML classes, like this:
var myXML1:XML = new XML();
var myXML2:XML = new XML();
var myXML3:XML = new XML();
...etc.
I want to do that without creating them manually. Can
somebody show me the code that would generate multiple XML
objects?

You could store them in an array like this:
var myXML = new Array();
for (var i=0; i<100; i++) {
myXML
= new XML();
You could then refer to each XML Object created with
myXML[0], myXML[1], etc.

• It cannot reference the dynamic internal table in memory as an object.

Hi,
I am getting the syntax error in the second select. I guest it cannot reference the dynamic internal table in memory as an object.
The internal table contains different fields from multiple tables and it gets created OK. Then the first select within the loop executes OK allowing me to read the multiple tables in ITABLES.

Some of the tables in ITABLES are pooled tables which does not allow me to use INNER JOINS. Therefore I need a second select in order to read the pricing table KONP.
Thanks in advance for any hint.

Hi Abel,
You must be getting the syntax error that <dyn_table> does not contain the field knumh.
try putiing the entire where clause in a char type variable say wa_char and then use in ur query as
where (wa_char) .. it may work..
concatenate 'knumh' '=' '<dyn_table>-knumh' INTO wa_char SEPARATED BY SPACES.
SELECT ... from konp...
where (wa_char).
Revert if it doesnt work.

• Dynamic view object loses bind variables after passivation

I am creating a view object definition/view object programmatically in Jdev 11.1.1.2.0. The query requires a named bind parameter. All was working fine but now I am testing with app module pooling disabled and the bind variable is not being restored after passivation -- it's like the definition has disappeared or something.
Here is my VO creation code:
ViewObject vo = findViewObject("FinalistsWithEvalDataVO");
if (vo != null){
vo.remove();
ViewDefImpl voDef = new ViewDefImpl("FinalistsWithEvalDataVODef");
// I add a bunch of viewAttrs here...
voDef.setQuery(fullQuery);
voDef.setFullSql(true);
voDef.setBindingStyle(SQLBuilder.BINDING_STYLE_ORACLE_NAME);
voDef.resolveDefObject();
voDef.registerDefObject();
vo = createViewObject("FinalistsWithEvalDataVO", voDef);
vo.defineNamedWhereClauseParam("Bind_SchlrAyId", null, new int[] {0});
vo.setNamedWhereClauseParam("Bind_SchlrAyId", new Number(1)); //For testing
vo.executeQuery();
The query executes fine right there and then the VO seems to passivate fine. I even see the bind var in passivation:
<exArgs count="1">
<arg name="Bind_SchlrAyId" type="oracle.jbo.domain.Number">
1
</arg>
</exArgs>
But then when it reactivates prior to rendering the page, it invariably throws a missing parameter exception and this in the log:
<ViewUsageHelper><createViewAttributeDefImpls> [7409] *** createViewAttributeDefImpls: oracle.jdbc.driver.OraclePreparedStatementWrapper@1af78e1

<ViewUsageHelper><createViewAttributeDefImpls> [7412] java.sql.SQLException: Missing IN or OUT parameter at index:: 1
I have worked on this for hours and can't see anything wrong. Like I said, it works fine when not forcing passivation...
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks.

@Jobinesh - Thanks for the suggestions. I have read all the documentation I can find. Everything works fine without passivation. Everything still breaks with passivation. I have given up on trying to get the bind variable to restore after passivation and am currently just building the query with all values embedded in the query rather than bind variables. This is bad practice but avoids the problem. However, now that I avoided that obstacle, I'm on to the next issue with passivation of this dynamic view object, which is that the current row primary key apparently cannot be reset after activation. I get the following error:
<Key><parseBytes> [7244] Key(String, AttributeDef[]): Invalid Key String found. AttributeCount:1 does not match Key attributes
<DCBindingContainer><reportException> [7254] oracle.jbo.InvalidParamException: JBO-25006: Value 00010000000A30303033383133343734 passed as parameter String to method Constructor:Key is invalid: {3}.

I've been trying various workarounds for over a day now with no luck. Very frustrating.
Thanks for trying to help.

• Paging issues using a dynamic view object...

I am working on an application that uses JAG to generate JSP pages, i had the requirement to use dynamic view objects where the view object query is generated at runtime. The rest of the application is more or less the same... I used the defult functionality provided by TableScrollButtons.jsp file for paging. Now the problem im facing is that while the '>' and '<' buttons are working fine, i cant seem to navigate to the pages using the drop down...
With the default handler, whenever i select the range the range displayed remains the same ie 1-10, 10 being the rangesize, but the rows are refreshed with values from the next page. Also, if the next page is the last and is incomplete, then the rows are pushed in from the bottom, so that the last page is always full...I tried the tuning panel in the view object edit dialogue and all settings are fine (i think)...could anyone please tell me what i am doing wrong??

could it be because i am using a dynamic view object with dynamic bindings? i am using the preparemodel() method in the action as follows...
protected void prepareModel(DataActionContext ctx) throws Exception {
inferRangeBindingIfUnset(ctx);
ctx.getBindingContainer().setEnableTokenValidation(false);
String sql = ctx.getHttpServletRequest().getParameter("sql");
String cost=ctx.getHttpServletRequest().getParameter("CostCostCent");
String event=ctx.getHttpServletRequest().getParameter("event");
if (sql != null && event == null) {
setupDynamicQueryAndDynamicBindings(ctx,sql.substring(1),cost);
if (retrieveOnlyCurrentPageFromDatabase()) {
ViewObject vo = getIterForPaging(ctx).getViewObject();
if (vo.getAccessMode() != ViewObject.RANGE_PAGING) {
vo.setAccessMode(ViewObject.RANGE_PAGING);
// if(event==null)
super.prepareModel(ctx);
ctx.getBindingContainer().setEnableTokenValidation(true);
if (ctx.getEvents() == null || ctx.getEvents().size() ==0) {
setPage(ctx,1);
setLastPage(ctx,getIterForPaging(ctx).getRowSetIterator().getEstimatedRangePageCount());
else if(event.equals("setRangeStart")) {
setPageFromRequest(ctx);
}

• Creating and Accessing a Dynamic View Object

Hi,
I'm needing to create a Dynamic View Object so to have the ability to modify the FROM and WHERE clauses in an SQL statement.
I then need to view all the columns and rows in an adf table or something similar.
I've read up a fair bit on similar situations, however I'm struggling with the basic framework of building the View Object.
I know I'm wanting to use ..createViewObjectFromQueryStmt..but just unsure of the syntax in using it, especially connecting the VO to an Application Module.
This is similar to what I've got now, located in AppModuleImpl.java
public void createDynVO(ApplicationModule appMod, String FROMclause, String WHEREclause){
String SQL = "SELECT JOURNAL_NAME, PERIOD_NAME FROM " + FROMclause + " " + WHEREclause;
ViewObject vo = appMod.createViewObjectFromQueryStmt("DynamicView", SQL);
vo.executeQuery();But how does it know what the application module is?
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
-Chris

Ok, I've actually modified my approach to this.
I've created a View Object in the design view, added it to the App Module, and then created an iterator and bound an adf table to that iterator.
The View Object which I created has the same column names as what I am going to be getting later down the track.
Everything is working perfectly, except that I can't seem to bind variables to the WHERE clause.
Below is what I have got running:
public void recreateDynView(String FromClause, String whereCompany, String whereDepartment) {
String sql_PAGE_ITEM1 = " AND PAGE_ITEM1 LIKE :P_PAGE_ITEM1";
String sql_PAGE_ITEM2 = " AND PAGE_ITEM2 LIKE :P_PAGE_ITEM2";
findViewObject("DynamicView1").remove();
String SQLStmt = "SELECT PAGE_ITEM1, PAGE_ITEM2, PAGE_ITEM3, LINE_ITEM FROM " + FromClause;
ViewObject vo = createViewObjectFromQueryStmt("DynamicView1",SQLStmt);
vo.setWhereClause("1=1");
if (whereCompany != null && whereCompany.length()>0){
vo.setWhereClause(vo.getWhereClause() + sql_PAGE_ITEM1);
vo.defineNamedWhereClauseParam("P_PAGE_ITEM1",null,null);
vo.setNamedWhereClauseParam("P_PAGE_ITEM1",whereCompany);
if (whereDepartment != null && whereDepartment.length()>0){
vo.setWhereClause(vo.getWhereClause() + sql_PAGE_ITEM2);
vo.defineNamedWhereClauseParam("P_PAGE_ITEM2",null,null);
vo.setNamedWhereClauseParam("P_PAGE_ITEM2",whereDepartment);
vo.executeQuery();
}However whenever I input a value into one of the bound variables, I get the following error on the page.
1. JBO-29000: Unexpected exception caught: oracle.jbo.InvalidOperException, msg=JBO-25070: Where-clause param variable P_PAGE_ITEM1 needs ordinal index array.
2. JBO-25070: Where-clause param variable P_PAGE_ITEM1 needs ordinal index array.In the view object which i created at design stage, I've set the binding style to Oracle Named, so it should be alright. But obviously since I'm removing the view object and creating another version of it, it doesn't have the same binding style attached by default?
Is there a work around for this? I'm so close!

• Master-detail with dynamic view object

How can you create a view link with a view object that is dynamic? I have created a master-detail relationship on a UIX page. I change the master view object at runtime using a view definition and SQL and then I bind the view object to an iterator on a UIX page. I need the new dynamic view object to maintain the link between the detail view object. Is this possible?
The reason why I have to change the view object at runtime is because I am implementing a search module and the tables in the from clause can be modified at runtime so I need to have a dynamic view object.
Thanks,
Sanjay

After playing around with ViewObjectImpl's setQuery() method some more I found out that this solution might not work for me due to the following reason: when the user tries to sort a column in the result table, the original contents of the view object get executed instead of the run time query.

I would like to go back to my original solution that included creating a view definition based on the runtime query and then creating a view object from that which I bind to the RowSetIterator. The missing piece to the master-detail functionality is with the detail Iterator being in sync with the master. I have tried the following but I get a ClassCastException

DCIteratorBinding detailBinding = ctx.getBindingContainer().findIteratorBinding("DetailIterator");
detailBinding.getViewObject().setMasterRowSetIterator(masterBinding.getRowSetIterator());

here is the relevant stack trace:

• RE: multiple named objects with the same name andinterface

David,
First I will start by saying that this can be done by using named anchored
objects and registering them yourself in the name service. There is
documentation on how to do this. And by default you will get most of the
behavior you desire. When you do a lookup in the name service (BindObject
method) it will first look in the local partition and see if there is a
local copy and give you that copy. By anchoring the object and manually
registering it in the name service you are programmatically creating your
own SO without defining it as such in the development environment. BTW in
response to your item number 1. This should be the case there as well. If
your "mobile" object is in the same partition where the service object he is
calling resides, you should get a handle to the local instance of the
service object.
Here is the catch, if you make a bind object call and there is no local copy
you will get a handle to a remote copy but you can not be sure which one!
It end ups as more or less a random selection. Off the top of my head and
without going to the doc, I am pretty sure that when you register an
anchored object you can not limit it's visibility to "User".

All,
More than once, I have wished that Forte allowed you to place named
objects with the same name in more than one partition. There are two
situations in which this seems desirable:
1) Objects that are not distributed, but are mobile (passed by value to
remote objects), cannot safely reference a Service Object unless it has
environment visibility, but this forces the overhead of a remote method
call when it might not otherwise be necessary. If it were possible to
place a copy of the same Service Object (with user visibility) in each
partition, the overhead of a remote method call could be avoided. This
would only be useful for a service object whose state could be safely
replicated.
2) My second scenario also involves mobile objects referencing a Service
Object, but this time I would like the behavior of the called Service
Object to differ with the partition from which it is called.
This could be accomplished by placing Service Objects with the same name
and the same interface in each partition, but varying the implementation
with the partition.
Does anyone have any thoughts about why this would be a good thing or a
bad thing?

• Can I embed fonts of all Dynamic Text objects in a Flash file?

Hi there!
I'm fairly new to Flash, so please bear with me.
I have created a Flash file which will act as our company's standard presentation / portfolio of all previous projects. I've pretty much got it running the way I want, but I've just tried it on a few different computers and realised that the fonts aren't embedded. I've used our corporate font so it needs to look right. Having read the following documentation (http://livedocs.adobe.com/flash/9.0/main/wwhelp/wwhimpl/common/html/wwhelp.htm?context=Liv eDocs_Parts&file=00000893.html) I now understand how to embed fonts for one dynamic text object at a time. However, I have a lot of different dynamic text objects in the file and I would dearly love to embed them all in one step! The same embedding options can be applied to just about all objects, as they're all the same size and font.
I hope someone can help me. If you are able to help please spell things out in simple steps!! I am aware that I probably haven't yet grasped a number of the basics of Flash.
Thanks in advance,
Stuart

Static text doesn't need to be embeded. So I'm not sure what the problem you are having is. The page you linked to is for making an embedded font in your library that can then be exported for actionscript and used by code and style sheets. If you are following the instructions on the page you liked to you only need to do that once. Which shouldn't be too hard.
That is usually a different problem that having a bunch of different authortime created textfields that need to have characters embedded.
As far as I know your only hope to change a bunch of authortime/library items is using JSFL. So even if the thing I pointed to isn't exactly what you need you could keep googling a bit or use that as a template.
JSFL files are just text files so open it in note pad. Look for the line:
if(it[i].itemType == "movie clip")
and change it to this:
if(it[i].itemType == "movie clip" || it[i].itemType=="button")
Now it does buttons. You give up too easy.

• Dynamic value objects in flex and coldfusion 9

I'm writing a program for a company that does registrations for conventions and trade-shows. The problem I'm having is that each different client wants to store different data for each show. Most of the data is the same (attendee's name, address, etc...), but each show has some customizations that it wants to have... So each database for each show is going to be different...
Right now, the only way I know how to transfer data from Flex to ColdFusion is via a Value Object. (Well, the only good way to do it, that is.) My problem comes when a client wants a particular database customized. I have MANY questions about this...
1) How do I tell my Value Object what fields we've added to or changed in the database without re-writing the entire VO (in both the .AS and .CFC files) and re-compiling my program? In other words, I need a dynamic VO that changes automatcially with the database.
2) If there is a way to dynamically create a VO in Flex (and from a few blog posts I've seen, it seems there is a way), how do I tell CF9 what the structure of that dynamically-created VO is? Without re-writing a bunch of .CFC files every time I add or change a field in the database, that is...
3) How do I reference the dynamically-created fields in my Flex program? Right now, for example, I can define a variable called attendeeInfo as type attendeeInfoVO, and then reference things like attendeeInfo.first_name, attendeeInfo.last_name, etc... How do I reference a field programmatcially when I don't know what it's going to be called beforehand?
4) How do I make my program display/modify those dynamically-created fields? Right now, using the attendeeInfo example above, I can create a TextInput with an id="firstNameInput" and just say firstNameInput.text = "{attendeeInfo.first_name}". That won't work when I have no clue how many dynamically-created fields there are, or even what kind of data they're going to store... How do I deal with this?
5) Is there something other than VOs that would fit this situation better? Am I limiting myself by using VOs in the first place? Is it just plain impossible to do this with VOs? And if so, what are my alternatives? I need a structured object that can be passed around with a single reference -- I absolutely DO NOT want to pass a bunch of references to a bunch of different variables -- that's why I used VOs from the very beginning.
6) Can I simply PAY someone at Adobe for one-on-one help here? Do they have experts that you can "buy" for a few hours? What's the charge for that, if such a thing is available? Or, is this problem well-explained somewhere on the Web, and I just haven't found it yet?
I'm very confused here, and it seems like I might have to re-write a ton of code, which I'm not looking forward to... Ugh... I appreciate any help you can give me...
Thanks,

This blog post is pretty close to what I want:
http://justinjmoses.wordpress.com/2008/10/10/flex-dynamic-bindable-value-objects/
So there are the dynamic value objects I was looking for. But the blog-poster is using LINQ and .Net 3.5. I'm using ColdFusion9.
So, how do I get ColdFusion9 to deal with that? How do you get CF9 to recognize the fact that you've changed the VO, and deal with it appropriately?
Thanks,
L.

• BSP Exception: Missing reference when converting data object ZZxx

Hi there,
I have created these new Z fields and tried to include them in a field group. These fields did appear, but they are highlighted with a red box, with the above text in the tool tip.
Does anyone know what it means??
Thanks

I believe they were generated by EEWB - or could've been added manually to the CRMD_CUSTOMER_H. This error only occurs on the Currency fields...something to do with reference field but I just can't find what is wrong with this. I searched up SAP notes and found the following the closest match: -
Symptom
when trying to scroll down in the result list in the F4 for the Ibase the error error "BSP exception : Missing reference when converting data object amount. Correct the entry" occurs.
Other terms
CRMT_BSP_IBASE_TREE_NF, data object amount
Reason and Prerequisites
This happens due to inconsistancy in structure
Solution
Please follow the below steps manually.
1. Go to tx:SE11
2. Select data type "CRMT_BSP_IBASE_TREE_NF" in change mode
3. Select component AMOUNT in 'Components' tab
4. Go to "Currency/quantity fields" tab
5. Replace 'Reference table' entry from 'CRMT_BSP_IBASE_DETAIL'
to 'CRMT_BSP_IBASE_TREE_NF'
6. Save and activate

• In EPM10, how do you call/reference a dynamic range from a macro.

Hi Gurus
In EPM10, [we are using SP16,P1], how do you call/reference a dynamic range from a macro.
EG, in the BPC input sheet below, we have BPC reports ‘000’,’001’,’002’. For report ‘001’,users are able to select from diffent versions which each have different number of months. In the forecast version below, there are 7 months. We require a macro to select & delete f'cast data content of report ‘002’, there after we will manipulate it via the macro and return it. However, standard excel named ranges don’t work per BPC7.x and don’t dynamically expand.
The macro code in 7.x was:
Range(“REPORT1_RANGE”).Select >> Does any oneknow the replacement in EPM10 please?

The following macro which accesses API's looks like it would help to define the report range:
Sub TopLeftCell()
Range("c26").Select
Application.Run "EPMExecuteAPI", "GetDataTopLeftCell", "", "Sales Planning", "001"
End Sub
Anybody able to assist with the syntax of this macro..it currently runs without error, however does not return any result?? Note:
* the parameter ''" relates to the text which i believe can be left if using macros
*the parameter "Sales Planning" is my worksheet name
*the parameter "001" is my report definition.
I was hoping to return the result back to cell C26. Thanks All

• Can you Dynamically Name Objects

I am trying to create a new object for every line of a text file, that i read in.
The problem is that i need to dynamically name this object because i dont know the number of lines in the file.
I tried using a varible as the object name but it errors as it sais that varible is already declared as a diffrent type.
String newObject = "object1";
myObject newObject = new myObject();
If this is not posible can i rename an object after it is created.
Thanks for any help.

hi!
I know this problem..but it's not a problem of java, it's a problem of your thinking! I had it too when I started programming in java, because I came from programming in PL/1... ;-)
and the answer I think is NO, it's impossible.
you think you have to create and rename an object..probably you have an object james and you want to rename it into joseph.. but if you have a class person and a method calles setName(String name), you can change the name in this way..
if you want to create a lot of new objects use an array or better a Vector.
I hope this helps..
