Trying to sync my iPad and iPhone to a new account without losing all information
Okay here is the situation. I have an iPhone and an iPad all synced to my iTunes's account. My fiancé has as iPhone and our new iMac synced to his iTunes account. I am fully aware that you cannot merge two accounts. We would like to use his as our primary account since that's what we set up on our iMac. How can I sync the iPhone and the iPad without losing all the information on both?
You will need to connect both to your computer via your USB cord then launch iTunes. Take a look at this link, http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1386

I have an iPad and an iPhone that share an iCloud account. I didn't realize when I got my iPad last year that when I signed up the iCloud on the device that it would share and use 5g of iCloud between the both of them. How do I unsync them and have two separate iCloud accounts? I don't care about sharing between them. When my kids put games on my iPad, I don't want them going on my phone. How do I create a new iCloud without losing any info on the other device?

Syncing to a "New" Computer or replacing a "crashed" Hard Drive -
How do I sync my iPhone to a new computer without losing all my data?
I hooked up my iPhone to my new computer and was able to transfer songs etc to my iPhone with no problems, just clicked and dragged like normal. Suddenly it wont let me do so, wont let me drag a song or anything over to my device. I noticed that the "manually manage music and video" check box was unchecked, so I clicked it and got the prompt to restore my iPhone and delete all the data on it. Obviously I clicked cancel. I have read a few other discussions about this issue but am confused and need a dummies approach please as most people seem to be referring to certain things, for example they are worried about losing their applications, or just their music....I want to be able to sync my iPhone to my new computer, without ANYTHING changing. I dont want to lose any music, apps photos, contacts, purchases....anything....
Please help. Thank you!By design, the iphone will sync itunes content with one computer at a time. Any attempt to sync such content with a second computer will result in ALL itunes content being first erased from her phone & then replaced with the content from the second computer. This is a design feature and cannot be overridden. Because you are replacing your computer, your phone will see this computer as a "new" computer. The itunes content sync is one way: computer to phone. If you have photos that were synced to your phone or music ripped on her own that were not backed up, you will first have to extract them from your phone using third party software, before you do anything else, as Apple makes no provision to do so:
http://www.wideanglesoftware.com/touchcopy/index.php
Once you've done that, do the following in the order specified:
1. Disable auto sync when an iPod/iPhone is connected under Preferences>Devices in itunes(under the edit menu if using Windows).
2. Make sure you have one contact & one event in the supported applications(Outlook, Windows Address Book) on your computer. These entries can be fake, doesn't matter, the important point is that these programs not be empty.
3. Connect her phone, iTunes running, do not sync at this point.
4. Store>Authorize this computer.
5. File>Transfer Purchases(To make sure all purchased content on your phone will be in your itunes library).
6. Right click in the device pane & select reset warnings.
7. Right click again and select backup.
8. Right click again & select restore from backup, select the backup you just made. When prompted to create another backup, decline.
9. This MUST be followed by a sync to restore your itunes content, which you select from the various tabs, You'll get a popup regarding her contacts & calendars asking to merge or replace, select merge.
You should be good to go. -

How do i sync my iphone with a new computer without losing all of my apps
I bought a new macbook pro and want to sync my iphone and ipad with itunes on the new computer. I don't want to lose all of my apps (photos and music are already transfered). I am pretty sure that all of the apps that I have bought are in itunes, but I really don't want to risk losing anything when I sync.... especially all of my contacts! How do I avoid this?
Copy everything from your old computer, or your backup copy of your old computer, to your new one.

How can i sync my iphone to a new itunes without losing all my iphone data??? HELP
i need help , recently my laptops hard drive broke so i bought a new laptop so i needed to download a new itunes .... how can i put all my data from my iphone back onto itunes ? music, contacts, apps etc.. i heard that u cant and i would need to clear my phone entirely ?! can someone help wityh this please ???? i dont want to lose any of my iphone data ... eve if i cant put it on my itunes can i still keep it on my iphone without losing any data syncing ????
thanx , barry in irelandSyncing to a new iTunes library or computer will erase your phone. Only if you back up your phone manually before syncing, you can restore your phone from that backup again. A manual backup does not include the sync process.
Set up your iTunes account, disable autosync in iTunes, connect your phone to your new computer and right click on it in the device list and choose backup. iTunes will backup your phone without syncing.
Transfer your purchases the same way, choosing "transfer purchases" this time.
When you connect your phone for the first time, all media content will be erased. But you can restore your settings and app data from your manual backup afterwards.
Don't forget to set up at least one contact and event on your new computer to be able to merge calendars and contacts when you sync the phone for the first time.
Music is one way only, from the computer to your device, unless you bought the songs in itunes and transferred your purchases.
There is 3rd party software out there, but not supported by Apple, see this thread: http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=2013615&tstart=0

Messages-Trying to sync iMac, iPad and iPhone
Using ML and IOS 5.1.1
I'm able to send a message and get the message on my iMac, iPhone and iPad. But what is not happening anymore is getting the new message number that's attached to the Messages icon. And I'm no longer getting a notification in Notification Center on the Mac. Most of these issues began to happen when I changed the Caller ID on the iPhone to my Apple ID and not the phone number.
So what I'm trying to do is:
Get all devices to receive the same messages
Get a notification on the iMac
Receive an alert in the form of a number attached to the Messages icon on all 3 devices
That's not asking for to much is itRalph - Thanks for the reply. I have notifications set up properly.
I've got Notifications to work again by sending a new message to the iPhone using my Apple ID. But, after sending the message, I get double messages. Example:
I guess it's because I'm sending a message to a device that uses the same Apple ID. The thing I don't understand is at one point before I started changing Settings/Messages on the iPhone, everything worked using the Phone # instead of the Apple ID, I was getting notifications on all devices and no double messages. Now if I send to the phone # I get no notifications.
I'm thinking it might be best for my wife's iphone to be set up with her own iCloud account. -
so I don't have any backup from my old macbook... what can I do? I don't wan't to lose my information from my iPhone 5s and I wan't to sync everything.
Follow the directions here:
https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-3141
Note: If your new Mac is running Mavericks, you can no longer sync contacts/calendars locally. Your only choice will be iCloud. -
Hi to all,
I hope someone can help me. I know this question has been asked in various formats but I can't seem to find exactly what I am looking for, so please forgive me if this type of question is asked again.
My laptop was stolen a few months ago and I have finally been able to replace it. The common issue of course is that I can only sync it to one iTunes library at a time, which was on my laptop that some thief is currently enjoying the use of.
I don't have a lot of money so all of my backups were on the stolen laptop as I don't have an external hard drive. I understand you can authorize iTunes or the iPhone to go on upto 5 computers at a time?
As soon as I plugged in my phone (on the new laptop) I created a backup of everything on there using iTunes. I guess my question is, if I plug in my iphone and ask it to restore from back up, will it wipe the phone and replace it with the first back up on the new laptop or will it still delete everything altogether as the original content is not on the new laptop?
As much as it would be a pain, the music content is the least of my concern. It's more a case of making sure I keep my contacts, photos and purchases from the app store. I have read somewhere that you can transfer your purchases but I'm not sure how to do this.
I really hope someone can help and apologies for the repeat topic!
Thanks in advance to any who take the time to read and reply, I will appreciate any input/insight you may be able to provide.Copy everything from your backup copy of your old computer to your new one.
