Trying to visualize a jsp files on my browser

hi ,i 'am trying to execute a jsp files in my browser after installing weblogic5.1 for nt and my browser open the jsp file as it was a txt files. Can anybody help me thanks

It seems like your JSP engine is not running you need to
          register the JSPServlet. Look at
          http://www.weblogic.com/docs51/admindocs/http.html#jsp

    What does the JSP contain? Have you tried a simple JSP without any special functions? Does that work? How about catching the exception within the JSP. Will the JSP run and display correctly (of course, without the excepted content)?
    Here is an example of how you can catch the exception and prevent the JSP from failing (or at least how to prod it to display despite the error):
    <body>
       <%
       // yada yada yada some code
       try{
          // Yada yada yada the code that may have the IO problem
          // Yada yada yada
       }catch(IOException io){
           System.err.println("Here is the exception: "+io.toString());
       %>Please post back and let us know.

  • Deploying a JSP file

    Hello,
    I am currently trying to deploy a jsp file on the application server from NWDS.
    But unfortunatelly I didn't manage to make it work yet.
    If anybody could provide a step by step howto that would be great, I am not very familiar with the deployment descriptor files for java web applications. So I am having trouble to set the right web project up where I can add my jsp and then deploy and find it on the server.
    My situation is: I have a jsp file from the internet that I would like to deploy on the AS. Afterwards I want to call the jsp directly via the browser. I already have my Web AS setup in NWDS, so I can deploy web projects there.
    I am just not sure, which kind of project to chose and how to integrate my jsp. And afterwards which sub URL to use to call my jsp.
    Any help would be really appreciated!
    Best Regards,
    Peter

    Hello Dibya,
    Thank you for your reply!
    I have actually seen this thread but unfortunatelly I could not make my jsp work.
    One problem I have is that in every guide I found, it says to create a "J2EE -> Web module" project in NWDS. But in my NWDS I only have Application Client-, Connector-, Enterprise Application- and Utility Project under "J2EE".
    Under "Web" I have "Dynamiy web project" and "Static web project" in addition.
    Which one would be the right one?
    I have also tried to create a portal application project like advised in the mentioned thread.
    Basically what I did so far was creating the mentioned projects, then right click the project and choose new -> jsp file.
    Into the jsp file I then inserted the coding of my downloaded jsp file and then I tried to export the projects into an EAR file.
    This also worked. Then I deployed the EAR archive to the application server. But when I am on the application server I am not able to find / open my appliciation.
    For example the last try I did was with the portal application. I have an EAR file created out of my portal application file. Inside the EAR file there is a WAR file. Inside the WAR file I have a folder called "WEB-INF" and inside this folder there is the "jsp" folder and in there is my jsp.
    My question is now, how can I call that jsp after deploying the EAR file?
    Let's say my project is called "test" and I have a "test.ear", inside of that I have the "test.war" and inside there in the "WEB-INF/jsp" folder I have a "abc.jsp".
    When I open my appserver address http://server:port/test I am getting http error 403:
    Error: You are not authorized to view the content of the requested directory.
    Details:
    Directory listing is not allowed on this server.
    So I tried to open the jsp via:
    http://server:port/test/abc.jsp
    http://server:port/test/test/
    http://server:port/test/test/WEB-INF/jsp/abc.jsp
    But neither worked (every time http error 404 - file not found).
    So if you could give me any further hint on what I am doing wrong that would be really appreciated.
    Best Regards,
    Peter

  • Problem with jsp file on Mac running windows 7 thru bootcamp

    I'm running Windows 7 64 bit on a Mac.  Install went fine.  Problem is that I cannot launch a jsp file (that then launches Citrix).  Instead I get a message that it wants to save the file, or search the web for the program to open it.
    I downloaded and installed Java (from Java website), but still have the same problem.  Any ideas?  Thanks!

    It does not work in Windows, "I'm running Windows 7 64 bit" that is why I suggested to check your "Windows" file associations and to look into a Windows forum. The issue has to do with Windows. Are you trying to view a jsp page with a browser? If so, what is the url? Are you trying to serve jsp pages? If so have you correctly configured a server with a srvlet container such as Tomcat?
    jsp pages are opened with a browser.

  • Refreshing JSP file for an exploded WAR without undeploying the WAR - 7210

    The weblogic.Deployer utility with -activate option does redeploy my application. How do I prevent redeployment while refreshing. I'm using Weblogic 7.0.0.0.

    Thanks mbg for your response.
              Our production environment does not support the option a. We use the
              option b approach.
              My config.xml looks like this for the webapplication
              <Application Deployed="true" Name="oas"
              Path="/tmp/senthil/oas3.7.1.5"
              StagedTargets="DOAS_MT_021_20501" TwoPhase="true">
              <WebAppComponent Name="oas" Targets="DOAS_MT_CLUSTER_1"
              URI="oas"/>
              </Application>
              I performed the following steps..
              1) Modified the following jsp file on the admin.
              /tmp/senthil/oas3.7.1.5/oas/customercare/contactus.jsp
              2) Ran the following command on the admin
              java weblogic.Deployer -adminurl t3://n.n.n.n:20501 -user system
              -password weblogic -name oas -activate customercare/contactus.jsp
              after running the command,
              I was able to identify the corresponding jsp file immediately updated
              on the managed instance under the stage folder. But the class file on
              the stage folder was not updated and neither the class file on the
              .wlnotdelete folder. I was using the pagecheckseconds on the
              weblogic.xml as -1.
              I stopped both the admin and manage, modified the pagecheckseconds to
              1 Hour and when I performed same steps as before, I was able to see
              the jsp file updated and also getting compiled (when accessed) and
              serving the updated content. Also the user session was kept intact.
              i.e. no interruption to the session. This was what I was expecting
              for. The strange thing is, it didn't wait for one hour to compile. It
              was compiling immediately when I accessed the modified jsp file. I'm
              not sure whether it would behave the same way if I put that value as 1
              day or some very big +ve value.
              I'm not sure whether I'm doing the right way. i.e. changing the
              pagecheckseconds to ve value. Also I'm not sure whether the ve value
              for the pagecheckseconds would create impact on performance.
              Thanks for your time.

  • How to dynamically include jsp files using jsf el in include tag ?

    Hi,
    I'm trying to get the jsp file name from my backing bean to use it in an include tag but I can't make it work
    When using this piece of code I can get the generated path
             <h:outputText value="/_partial/#{myBean.jspName}.jsp"/>whereas in this code the jsf el is not replaced by this value.
            <%@ include file="/_partial/#{myBean.jspName}.jsp" %> Have you any idea of how to solve this ? I'm currently developing for J2EE 1.4 platform.
    Thanks for your help,
    Regards.

    If you're using JSF 1.2 and JSTL 1.2 at a JSP 2.1 environment, then you can just use <jsp:include> with unified EL.
    If you're using JSF 1.1, then you may find this article useful [http://balusc.blogspot.com/2007/01/dynamic-jsf-subviews.html]

    I have deployed several web applications before. But this is the first one where I am trying to include a JSP file as a javascript.
    tomcat recognizes when I simply including the jsp file with import but when I try to include it as a script it's not working. So I am hoping that there are some experts here who can help me. I saw this being done in a project and am trying to build a similar web application myself.

  • Include a jsp file for editing without compiling

    I am having trouble finding code to do this.
    I want to be able to edit a jsp file through my browser. I am to get everthing working except, the including of the jsp file itself. I have tried all the different types of includes, but they all compile the file. I want to be able to edit the source.
    Can anybody help me with this?
    Thanks
    Mossybreen

    I'm not totally clear on what you're trying to do.
    If you just want to be able to edit JSP source code and save it back to the file, you could probably create a page with a form that reads the file, dumps the text into a textarea, then writes it back to the file when you submit, although, personally, I wouldn't leave anything that dangerous on a public server in a million years. You'd be better off setting up WebDAV access or sFTP or something if you really need to edit your source code remotely. There's also a product from Macromedia called Contribute that allows you to do this, and there's another company that makes an applet that creates a WYSIWYG HTML editor in your browser. Unfortunately I can't remember the name, but it was pretty far from perfect anyway.

              Hi,
              1) what is your "weblogic.httpd.documentRoot=????"
              2) if it is "public_html" put your jsp there.

    Copy JSP file into the
              /applications/DefaultWebApp directory
              In a web browser, request the JSP file using the following URL:
              http://localhost:port/
