Calling RDF files from JSP files
Hi,
I created a report file using Oracle 9i Report Builder and save it as RDF extension.After that I deployed it into the server and it's working properly.But, when I created a simple JSP file(not a report) and try to call that RDF file from this JSP file,the web browser prompts for downloading the entire RDF file.Is there any way to aviod this prompting, and make it to proper ruuning from that JSP ??
Thanks &Regards

How to call RDF report from JSP page
Dear all,
I want to call a RDF report from JSP page. I am creating the JSP page using j developer 10G.
Can anyone help me out in this case. Is there any tag or procedure or any other way by of that i can perform this work.
please help and send the reply on [email protected],[email protected]
thanks
AshokHi Ashok,
You can use rwservlet - nothing really to do with JDeveloper. Once you have report server up and running (hint: read http://download-uk.oracle.com/docs/cd/B14099_19/bi.1012/b14048/toc.htm), you can call a report like this:
http://server:port/rwservlet?report=my_report.rdf&destype=cache&desformat=html&p_my_parameter=xxx etcHope this helps,

How to call java class file from jsp
hi
we need to call java classes (which are written separately in .java file )from jsp file. we need it for our project if anyone knows about please reply us.
bye
siva sankariyou can call the methods in a lot of ways. you could use scriptlets with the
<%@ page import="package.class"%> and then inside instantiate an object
<%
MyClass mc = new MyClass(parameters if any);
mc.theMethodYouWantToCall();
%>or as Madathil has stated,
or use the JSP tags
<jsp:useBean id="anyname" class="classname"/>and then use the getProperty tag
or even Custom Tags -
How to run .ksh file in unix from .jsp files
Hi frnd,
How to connect unix servers from .jsp file & I want to run unix scripts .ksh files from .jsp files
Thanku
bhupathipawanIt is usually a bad idea to do any major processing directly within a JSP. It is better to create a helper class and invoke methods on that. This helper class can then be tested outside of the inhospitable JSP environment.
To run the '.ksh' file you will need to use either Runtime.exec() or the more modern ProcessBuilder. You will save yourself a lot of grief if you read thoroughly the 4 sections of http://www.javaworld.com/javaworld/jw-12-2000/jw-1229-traps.html and then implement the recommendations.
Note - although the 'traps' article is written around the use of Runtime.exec(), it's content is equally applicable to ProcessBuilder. -

Hi
is it possible to call any method with in the class except handle method from jsp file?You can call , but it would not be a good design approach.A droplet can do the same task for you.
otherwise :
eg :
<%@ page import="com.mypackage.MyClass"%>
for Static access :
<%
String test= MyClass.myMethod();
%>
for normal classes :
<%
MyClass object = new MyClass();
String test= object .myMethod();
%>

Calling a method from another file
This is pretty basic stuff but i can't seem to get it right. I am calling a method from another file. The other file IS located in the same folder BUT when i compile i get errors
"cannot find symbol" <===referring to limit and sieve i believe.
The method name is "sieve" the file name is "PrimeSieve2008" and "limit" is the variable in brackets in the real method.
public static void main (String [] args) {
final int [] PRIMES;
int sieve = PrimeSieve2008.sieve(limit);
PRIMES = sieve(getValidInt());
for (int j = 0; j<PRIMES.length; j++) {
System.out.println("Prime[" + j + "] = " + PRIMES[j]);
Is "int sieve = PrimeSieve2008.sieve(limit)" the wrong way to call a file?
Thanks a million,
Alex

I really am clueless here.in this one you are passing in limit.
in the other one you are getting limit from somewhere outside of main. -

Do you know a way to run the "startup.exe" Tomcat file from jsp?
I have to start and stop a server remotely.
Maxpublic Process pFiglio;

pFiglio = rt.exec("c:\\Tomcat\\startup.exe ");
then you can have
pFiglio.waitFor();
iEsito = pFiglio.exitValue();
pFiglio.destroy();
Look at specification:

Look class "Runtime" and "Process".

Did you package your JSPs in a WAR and your EJBs in a JAR and package the
WAR and JAR in an EAR? That is how to do it in 6.0. Works well.
