TS1559 Will the apple team be able to do anything about this in store if your phone is out of its 12 month warranty / guarantee thing?

I have had my iphone replaced twice since i got it because of problems and now my iphone 4s has had the wifi slider greyed out for some months, but since the phone was 'technically'** over a year old when it did this i wan't in guarantee anymore so haven't bothered to take it in yet. would they be able to do anything about this in store? or would it cost me an arm and a leg? PLEASE HELP!!!
**Basically, the phone guarentee doesn't go on how long you have had the replacement phone but on how long you would have had the first one if it had not been replaced.

If your iPod Touch, iPhone, or iPad is Broken
Apple does not fix iDevices. Instead, they exchange yours for a refurbished or new replacement depending upon the age of your device and refurbished inventories. On rare occasions when there are no longer refurbished units for your older model, they may replace it with the next newer model.
ATTN: Beginning July 2013 Apple Stores are now equipped to do screen repairs/replacements in-house on iPhone 5 and 5C. In some cases while you wait. According to Apple this is the beginning of equipping Apple Stores with the resources needed to do most repairs for iPhones, iPads, and iPod Touches that would not require major replacements. Later in the year the services may be extended as Apple Stores become equipped and staffed with the proper repair expertise. So, if you need a screen repaired or a broken screen replaced or have your stuck Home button fixed, call your local Apple Store to see if they are now doing these in-house.
You may take your device to an Apple retailer for help or you may call Customer Service and arrange to send your device to Apple:

Honestly, I don't think that they have any other way of accessing anything on the iPad than any other user has. The Apple Store genius will just put the device through the standard troubleshooting steps - in your case probably try to restore the device to factory settings and if that doesn't work, then they will make some sort of offer for a replacement assuming that your iPad is still under warranty.
If I'm not mistaken they will probably erase the device in order to try to "fix" it. That's what restoring to factory settings does. I assumed that you were concerned about losing data - but if you are concerned that they are going to see something that you don't want them to see or access, I'm pretty sure that's not going to happen.

  • Will the Apple Genius be able to repair my macbook?

I had once before been able to restore my macbook to facory settings the first time, the second time that i tried to restore it didnt go so well as you can see from the first picture. I read a few posts and tried to unscrew the screws which was easy but then rescrewed them in. The second photo shows my attempt to lossen the screw. Also my opitcal DVD Drive is not working
Will this be covered by the Apple Protection Plan?

That damaged corner looks like it's peeling or something, I thought the case was plastic and would crack, but not peel like that. Unusual.
AppleCare covers three years from the date of purchase, unless that corner is actually a design defect of some sort and you didn't mess with the insides outside of what is allowed (usually the RAM, memory and sometimes the battery), you might be able to squeak by.
All I can say is clean it up really really nice and take a shot at the Genius Bar, all they can say is no or charge you a fortune which you can decide not to have it fixed and apply the cost towards a new one.
If it's a three year old MacBook, your due for a new one anyway.
If Apple is generous, your going to get a refurbished old one if they replace it, not a new one as you likely already know.
Roll the dice and take your chances.

  • HT4623 Many Apps on the App Store now require iOS 7 so us using iPod touch 4G with iOS 6.1.5 now can't download certain apps.so the question is that will the Apple team update devices using 6.1.5 to iOS 7????

When will Apple update ipod 4th gen from ios 6.1.5 to ios 7

    No.
As Apple said in June, iOS 7 is not compatible with the 4G iPod.
All the iOS devices compatible (iPhone 4 and later, iPad 2 and later, and 5G iPod touch) with iOS 7 have at least 512 MB of memory (RAM). The 4G iPod only has 256 MB
If you have iOS 4.2.1 or later on the iPod and there was version compatible with that version, then you should be able to get a compatible version by:
App Store: Downloading Older Versions of Apps on iOS - Apple Club
App Store: Install the latest compatible version of an app
You first have to download the non-compatible version on your computer. Then when you try to purchase the version on your iPod you will be offered a compatible version if one exists.

  • Will the iphone 4 be able to get S update??

when the iphone4S come's out will the old iphone4 be able to get all the new software?!

Because it's built-in to the iP4S only.  Only Apple knows why but perhaps the iP4 does not have enough processing power to run it as well as Apple requires.

bought a locked iphone4 5 months ago before a deployment, will the apple store unlock a locked iphone?

Only the provider can unlock the phone and pass the unlock info to Apple. This info will be added to a database and you'll be able to use another SIM when you connect to iTunes after you have been notified that the phone is now unlocked.

Why is this? And is Apple doing anything about this? While Apple's headphones have (finally) admittedly gotten better of late, I still prefer the much more comfortable headphones & sound quality that Bose makes and that I spent the money for.

  • If I buy a new MacBook Air will the Apple Store help me transfer everything from my old MacBook Pro?

Will Apple help to copy over all the settings, apps, programs, files, etc. from an old MacBook Pro 15" on OS X 10.6.8 to a new MacBook Air 15"?  Will it work easily and painlessly?  Will they help me set it back to factory once everything is copied so that it can be sold or given to someone else?  Will they charge for this?
I want to get the new MacBook Air 13".
The current 15" 2.53 GHz MacBook Pro Mid 2009 has the following specs and OS:
    Mac OS X version 10.6.8
    Model Identifier: MacBookPro5,4
Processor Name: Intel Core 2 Duo
    Processor Speed: 2.53 GHz
    Number Of Processors: 1
    Total Number Of Cores: 2
    L2 Cache: 3 MB
    Memory: 4 GB
    Bus Speed: 1.07 GHz
    Boot ROM Version: MBP53.00AC.B03
    SMC Version (system): 1.49f2
    Serial Number (system):
    Hardware UUID:
    Sudden Motion Sensor: Enabled
According to Apple's serial number identifier it's this: https://support.apple.com/kb/SP544
    Thanks.

    You sure about this? https://www.apple.com/why-mac/better-support/
"Purchase a One to One membership at the same time you get your new Mac from an Apple Retail Store, and you won’t have to spend hours transferring all your stuff. Just bring in your old PC, and we’ll do it for you. A Specialist will move all your files — email, contacts, music, photos, documents, calendar, desktop items — and make sure everything is exactly where it should be. One to One costs just $99, and it includes a year’s worth of one-hour, face-to-face training sessions. It’s like getting a head start before you start."
This is really disappointing.  Buy a $3,000 computer from them and then buy another one for $1,000+ and all they want to do is screw you over, nickle and dime you and price gouge you on setting it up.

You only need a plug adaptor as long as the voltage is between 100 and 240 volts.

    Hi ronda
I am not sure what you mean by "automatically". It will find your network but you will need to enter your password, assuming you have your WiFI protected.

I know that will be the case for me.

The new one is a little more Apple-like with icons instead of lists, but I liked having everything right on the screen before and now I have to scroll down to get to the icons below the tv screen view.
The old interface wasn't perfect but logical - as you say the icons are for the iPhone and iPad crowd, and as i see it will entail more scrolling and button hopping on the remote.

    Quelle surprise......
It's a bit like the redesign of these discussion fora - the new layouts are designed for the younger generation but far too much scrolling and hard work to find what you want compared to the old format.

No one here is an employee or representative of Apple. We are all users like yourself. We cannot know when or if Apple will release any additional products.

  • We live in an old Victorian House and have virtually no connectivity on the second or third floor using a  Linksys System, will the Apple Aiorport solve thge problem ? do you need sattelite stations on each floor?

Any advice on Airport solving our second and third floor WIFI connectivity problems welcomed, do we need sattelite stations, ?? do not mind buying the system if it works?

......will the Apple Airport solve the problem?
The broadcast power of all wireless routers is controlled by law, so as you might imagine, devices from varying manufactureres tend to perform about the same. It is very unlikely that an Apple AirPort router would perform significantly better...or worse...than the Linksys device that you have now.
    do we need satttelite stations?
Yes, probably at least one per floor and possibly more, depending on the thickness of the walls in the areas where a wireless signal will be needed. Since you already have a Linksys router, and it is always best to use products from the same manufacturer on a wireless network, it would probably make sense to check with Linksys to see what they suggest as additions to your current router.
It would be a excellent idea to have an IT professional come out and survey the house and take some measurements with test equipment to propose a system that is right for your needs. That will likely save a lot of headaches (and money) down the road.
