TS3252 Can anyone please point to any articles, discussions, videos ... describing how to migrate an existing Aperture 3 library built on a home server (Netgear NAS Nv+V2) to an attached iMac (27in using Mac OS X Version 10.6.8)?
All images would still remain as referenced files on the NAS. (There are no managed files for my setup).

At this stage I am aiming to keep all my images as referenced files on the NAS. Apple Supprt have advised me this should be quite OK - and I already have more images than will fit on the iMac. All our data for all our computers here at home use the NAS as the only storage. We are in the process of builing centralised off site archiving and backup, which is made a lot easier with all data being one centralised place - ie the NAS. It also means we can easily view slide shows on our big TV via DLNA just using the TV's remote control - using the same referenced image files (or exports if they have been adjusted with Aperture). I can also share photos easily straight from the NAS as my own private cloud with no cost or restrictions. (http://www.readynas.com/?p=5370). I do like the way Aperture does not tie one to the organisational strcuture of the referenced filing - so one is free to use all the advantages of Aperture's project, album, metadata systems ets. I am aiming to continue this way unless there is some change that causes me not to.
Once a few niggles about permissions across our home network were resolved, I have had no problems with both the library and referenced image files being on the NAS. The casual user would think the iMac was "it" for everything stand alone ... (unless the ethernet cable was puttled out of the back of the iMac!). Nonetheless I will take Apple Support's advice and place our ever growing single library file on the iMac following the 'precautionary principle'.

I have recently updated my iMac from OS x mountain lion to OS X Mavericks.
After that I can't upload any video and some files to my personal email account.
I have tried to send a small video clip to the sender as attachment. i have done this before

RomanPlease follow these directions to delete the Mail "sandbox" folders. In OS X 10.9 there are two sandboxes, while in earlier versions there is only one.
Back up all data.
Triple-click anywhere in the line below on this page to select it:
~/Library/Containers/com.apple.mail
Right-click or control-click the highlighted line and select
Services ▹ Reveal
from the contextual menu.* A Finder window should open with a folder named "com.apple.mail" selected. If it does, move the selected folder — not just its contents — to the Desktop. Leave the Finder window open for now.
Log out and log back in. Launch Mail and test. If the problem is resolved, you may have to recreate some of your Mail settings. You can then delete the folder you moved and close the Finder window. If you still have the problem, quit Mail again and put the folder back where it was, overwriting the one that may have been created in its place. Repeat with this line:
~/Library/Containers/com.apple.MailServiceAgent
Caution: If you change any of the contents of the sandbox, but leave the folder itself in place, Mail may crash or not launch at all. Deleting the whole sandbox will cause it to be rebuilt automatically.
*If you don't see the contextual menu item, copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combinationcommand-C. In the Finder, select
Go ▹ Go to Folder...
from the menu bar, paste into the box that opens (command-V). You won't see what you pasted because a line break is included. Press return. -

I have a tree table storing heirarchies upto 4 levels.

I need to display all the ancestars in a single line (in different columns), which is where I am stumped.

Bascially, I need to display in a single row, all the ancestars.
I tried to use joins but it was very very slow due to the fact that I had to perform multiple joins.
Can anyone please point me in the right direction?

Sheesh. That looks hard. I think it will fall over at this point:
"Connect to my Exchange mailbox using HTTP" 'cos Thunderbird uses only the regular email protocols: POP, IMAP and SMTP.
Here (at work) we have in the past have had IMAP and SMTP enabled on our Exchange server so Thunderbird could then connect just like to any other regular internet-based service.
With the change here to outlook365/outlook 2010 I've had to switch to using DavMail which lets Thunderbird talk to the mail server using OWA.
I haven't (seriously) tried Exquilla. Whilst I have great respect for its author and some of his other add-ons, I saw no reason to use an add-on that required payment when DavMail works for free. -
Can anyone please help? Every time I start up my imac OSX 10.6 desktop my Aperture 3 programme opens up without being requested. Is it possible to stop this happening and only allow Aperture to open by using the desktop icon? Thank you for any assistance anyone may be able to give.

William's solution was much easier - just for completeness sake: The preferences panes to edit your startup items moved between the Mac OS X updates: I forgot that the "Users&Groups" preference pane used to be called "Users" in Mac OS X 10.6; it is the panel that you use to create new User accounts; and earlier systems had a separate preferences panel "Login" to enable and to disable the applications that are launched at login. Both are now combined in "Users&Groups". Sorry for sending you on a wild goose chase with the wrong Preferences panel.

i-tunes could not be used because the original file could not be found.could not locate.this error occurs on most of my songs in my library and will not play even though they are in my i-pod and play with no trouble.can anyone please help?
I was not complete clear.
Since you never changed the settings in the advanced section of iTunes preferecnes, you have to chech that your music is really in the location setted in the folders reported in the advanced section. If not you have 2 ways: reset the position of this folders or in the actual disk organisation or in the pointing on the preferences.
If you press the reset button you just give to itunes its default setting as for the position of the music files: probably this will be a good choice if you have never changed any default preference.
But before I would check the folders and see if the songs are really there

Just saw your thread, and it looked like a candidate for the Premiere Elements 10 NVIDIA GeForce Roll Back the Driver issue. If your computer uses a NVIDIA GeForce video card/graphics card, then the following applies to you. You do not want to update the driver. Rather you want to roll back the driver version, probably to about May 2013. For your convenience I have done a copy/paste of the forum announcement which gives all the details and fix of the matter.

If you are a Premiere Elements 10 user whose Windows computer uses a NVIDIA GeForce video card and you are experiencing Premiere Elements 10 display and/or unexplained program behavior, then your first line of troubleshooting needs to be rolling back the video card driver version instead of assuring that it is up to date.
Since October 2013 to the present, there have been a growing number of reports about display and unexplained workflow glitches specific to the Premiere Elements 10 user whose Windows computer has a NVIDIA GeForce video card. If this applies to you, then the “user to user” remedy is to roll back the NVIDIA GeForce video card driver as far as is necessary to get rid of the problems. The typical driver roll back has gone back as far as March – July 2013 in order to get a working Premiere Elements 10. Neither NVIDIA nor Adobe has taken any corrective action in this regard to date, and none is expected moving forward.

Since updating my iTunes I no longer have any controls. iTune covers the entire desktop and I cannot add from my files. Prior to updating I had a perfectly good iTunes which would allow me to stories for including on a iPod.

Take the following steps:
1) while connected to wifi, toggle off then back on the Show All Music and iTunes Match options shown in my original post. Important: I did this step before, but wasn't connected to wifi, and my music disappeared. Subsequently, I connected to wifi and turned off and then back on those options and everything came back though it was grayed out and my only option was to download music.
2) To get streaming over cellular back, go into Settings>General>Cellular and scroll down to the "Use Cellular Data for:" options and make sure the iTunes option is set to 'On'
The above steps will bring back the streaming capability which seemed to go away when you update to 6.1. It didn't ACTUALLY go away, but something about the update toggled off the iTunes option in step 2 above.
I did a final test by turning off wifi, opening Music app and selecting a song. It played successfully without downloading! Crossing my fingers, but I think I'm good to go!

Open Console in Utilities & see if there are any clues or repeating messages when this connection drop happens. -
When I try to connect to itunes the message say's error 11333. When i try to update itunes the computer say's it cannot connect and further tells me to check my connections. Once again I am able to use safari to get onto the internet fine. I went on trouble shooting at apple.com, but the thing's it told me to try failed. Can anyone please help?

Which particular .msi file is the message mentioning? (Several different .msi files might be referenced in this context: itunes.msi, bonjour.msi, AppleSoftwareUpdate.msi, etc.) -
