  • How can I type special characters on bootcamp?

    Hello,
I try to find a way to type specials caracters on windows that I used to type on my PC with the combination ALT+XXXX where X are numbers. I have search here (https://discussions.apple.com/message/17571606#17571606 https://discussions.apple.com/message/12157759#12157759) and on the net but I'm still not able to type them.
Does anyone has found a solution to this?
I know that I can use the caracter table embedded in windows but that's not very convenient when you need to regularly type special caracters.
I have a MBP retina with Win7 x64 on bootcamp.
    Thank you

For Wondows, see THIS web page for the ALT codes.
For Mac, see THIS web page for the character pallette.
    I hope this helps.

it....it fails & throws exceptionDepending on what is to be accomplished, I had an issue earlier today and this is how I solved it:
I needed to put a url with post data:
    Something
    Now to do this we can split this up in parts, tried writing out everything using CDATA and a few other things. But the Damn <'s and >'s would get converted into &lt; and &gt;
    So I did this:
    <a>
    <xsl:attribute name="href">

  • Mail, can't send, can't type special characters

I can't send mail but I can recieve mail. I can't reply to email. When opening a new mail I can add the address and subject line but when I type in the body of the email I start typing and as soon as I hit the space bar or any special characters it freezes up and I can't do anything. I've rebuilt the the mailbox, I've checked my quotas and they are fine. I can also get on the internet. This happened to me before but forgot what the problem was. The other day I updated to the latest OS X but everything was ok till yesterday when I took my laptop to our other location where I'm wireless through a cable modem. I have the same connection at both locations. I am using Mac Mail version 2.0.5 This is driving me crazy that I can't find an answer. Please, can anyone out there help me, I sure would appreciate it.

  • How can I remove Garbage characters like ’ which can be replaced by '

there are many such characters such as &#x2013;,&#x2022; which have different meaning when I take it to the html editor Kindly give some solution so that i can save my time.

View menu > character encoding set to unicode probably, but when character encoding is fouled up by the sender it is really hard to guess what is correct.

  • How do I get special characters like x̱, g̱, and ḵ?

I work in an Alaska Native language, and develop most of my curriculum and documentation in InDesign CS6. I have a keyboard that uses the characters x̱, g̱, and ḵ frequently to work in the language. In the InDesign CC trial, only the ḵ is working and the x̱ and g̱ show up as x and g. This makes the product of much less use, and I see no reason to upgrade if it has fewer options. The newer releases of Microsoft Word and Mac Pages, while much less powerful and precise, have no problems with these characters.
    Suggestions?
I cannot afford to spend time copying and pasting these characters. That seems to work, but that does not make sense to me.
    Thanks.

The ones that are not working are a combining diacritic. This shift means working in multiple programs since a lot of the curriculum I have developed is in InDesign. The work stream is going to be disrupted by not being able to see it all in once place and moving between programs.
    Here are the letters:
Ḵ — 1E34 Latin capital letter k with line below
ḵ — 1E35 Latin small letter k with line below
    G̱ — 0047 Latin capital letter g + 0331 Combining macron below
    g̱ — 0067 Latin small letter g + 0331 Combining macron below
    X̱ — 0058 Latin capital letter x + 0331 Combining macron below
    x̱ — 0078 Latin small letter x + 0331 Combining macron below

  • Screen sharing works from home to work but can't type shifted characters

    hi
i can successfully connect to from my home (using macbook or macmini) to my work mac using screen sharing but it seems that i can't type shifted characters like
    @ or _
i can type these characters using screen sharing within the network at work so. any reason why this might be?
    best wishes

I'm having exactly the same keyboard issue.  Certainly nothing has ever enhanced my concentration while coding like suddenly becoming unable to type.
I'm seeing a great many devicemgr and rake errors in my system log.  I don't know if they're related.  How 'bout you?
If you're unfamiliar with the system log…
    Open /Applications/Utilities/Console.
If necessary, choose View > Show Log List.
system.log is at the top of the FILES section.
Try searching it for hot words like DEBUG, FATAL, and aborted.
I've found some discussions that would tend to indicate my errors are postGres related – I'm running OS X server.

  • How can I display special characters of NonEuropean languages (French, Italian, Spanish, German and Portuguese.) using import string mechanism

I would like to translate the User Interface of my application to French, Italian, Spanish, German and Portuguese.
When I put special characters in the import string file they showed up as ? (question mark)
The import strings file includes the following parameters for each string: font, text, size and style. (but no field for script)
In order to use a unicode font such as Arial I need to select a french script. But this option is not supported bu LabView (As far as I saw)
    A) Is there a font which is directly German/ French etc and not regula font + script parameter?
    B) Are there another required step
s for special characters support? (When I put speciual characters in the import string file the showed up as ? question mark)

This was discussed last week in this group- read the previous messages.
Look for the thread "Foreign Languages in Labview"

  • How to show Special Characters like (∠) in an Embedded text field

I want to show some special characters like (∠). It is working fine if we don't embed the text field. But I want to use superscript and subscript font, so I have to embed that dynamic text field. When I embedd the texfield it does not show me the (∠) symbol. Instead it shows me a square symbol. Please let me know how can I solve this problem. My project is nearly finish except for this part.
    Thanks in advance
    Salim

Yes, I know we need to include the symbols. But  I am unable to include it. Whenever I click on embed option and paste the symbol (∠) in the include these characters box, it appears as a square symbol. This is driving me nuts.
I even tried to embed All (54665 glyphs). But this is not working either.
Has anyone faced this problem before?

  • How to convert special characters like #, &, etc occuring in the input string

    Hi,
I am using method 'Get' to submit a form . When ever there is any
special character like '#' in my input For example "033#Test", nothing
              gets posted beyond 033.
Can any one please let me know how do I overcome this problem.
              Thanks in advance.

    Moinuddin:
It seems possible your browser may be confused by the fact that 033 is
the octal representation for an ESCape character (Hex 1B). Try dropping
the leading zero. In addition, it is usually better to represent special
characters like the hash mark "#" using HTML character entities instead
              of literals, i.e. &#35; = hash mark

  • How can I distinguish special characters or signs in Doc through VBA?

How can I distinguish special characters or signs in Doc through VBA?
I have a few large documents written in word 2003 format and now I work on them under word 2007.
Such large documents containing lots of special characters.  I want to change them into Microsoft 3.0 equation form(It is required by the team). I find no way but using function AddOLEObject and  Sendkeys through VBA. Common characters can be added
to equation by function Sendkeys, but the return value of Asc() or AscW() for "double arrow", "in" , " not greater than " such special characters or signs, to name but a few are the same ,i.e., 40 And I cannot distinguish them.
I found the link http://msdn.itags.org/word/44333/ may be of use to me, and the title is:
How to read symbols from a DOC documents! (Microsoft Word)
     the original question is
Using function "InsertSymbol", I can insert a symbol into a document. But
how can I read a symbol from a document?
Using "Characters(i).range.text", I can read a char. But when meeting a
symbol, the value of "Characters(i).range.text" is always '('.How can I get the CharacterNumber of the symbol.
And the final answer is :
    Hi chenfeng,
Word protects symbols from symbol fonts if you insert them from the "Insert
    > Symbol" dialog.
This is done so they aren't changed when you change the font or style. But
it also results in Word reporting AscW( ) = 40 on all of them.
I've posted a macro to "unprotect" them (or to protect them again if you
want) ... just today again in
    Newsgroups: microsoft.public.word.vba.customization

  • How Can I add special characters?

    Hi,
How can I add specisl characters like arrows to the clips...
    Thanks for help...

    two options:
    • add any Title, select a font containing 'arrows'
Hint: open System Prefs/Keyboard and check the box to show this icon in the menu bar:
You then easily select any arrow to your 'Title' ...

  • How to add special characters like üöä to a rss feed?

    Hello,
I've (again) a small problem. In my podcast I use the header
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
    <rss version="2.0"
        xmlns:content="http://purl.org/rss/1.0/modules/content/"
        xmlns:wfw="http://wellformedweb.org/CommentAPI/"
        xmlns:dc="http://purl.org/dc/elements/1.1/"
        xmlns:atom="http://www.w3.org/2005/Atom"
        xmlns:sy="http://purl.org/rss/1.0/modules/syndication/"
        xmlns:slash="http://purl.org/rss/1.0/modules/slash/"
        xmlns:itunes="http://www.itunes.com/dtds/podcast-1.0.dtd"
        xmlns:media="http://search.yahoo.com/mrss/"
    >
and encoding UFT-8. Every time I add special characters like the German Ö Ä or Ü to my feed, the feed stops working. The validator says that characters like üöä are no UTF-8 characters which is correct of course, but a second podcast which I listen to, uses the same header like I do but it contains the same special characters and it works. Does anyone know what the difference is?
This is my podcast feed which does not work with üöä
    http://quartett.planeteternia.org/rssfeed.xml
That's a podcast feed (not mine) which works with üöä
    http://technikwuerze.de/feed/
    Thank you very much
    Kind regards

http://quartett.planeteternia.org/newsfeed.xml - there is no file at this address. You have a feed at
    http://quartett.planeteternia.org/rssfeed.xml
but there are no diacriticals in it - presumably you've removed them.
The other feed simply includes the diacriticals - it's not using html encoding to display them - so I don't know why you should be having trouble. You need to be writing the text in a plain text editor, not a word processor, and I don't know whether there is an issue with Windows here.
You could try using the codes - they must be the numbered not the named codes:
    ü is &#252;
    ö is &#246;
    ä is &#228;

  • Always jumps back to special characters like ü,ö,ß

    hello,
so i have been having problems with my macbook pro recently. it has a US keyboard but i write a lot in german so i have to use special characters like ä,ü,ö,ß which normally is not a problem, because i can just stay longer on the a,u,o,s keys and it works perfectly. however, recently when i was typing one of the special characters a lot of the time it jumped back to the previous one i had typed a couple of words back.
this is really really annoying and i do not know what i can do about it or what i am doing wrong.
it would be awesome if somebody knows a way how to fix this problem.
    thank you for your help!

    Hi,
    Unicode or Non-Unincode System ?
    Displayed where ? SAPGUI ? Print Preview ? Spool-Display ?
And how is the XML file written ?  OPEN DATASET ? BAPI ?
At all of these stages it might be either that it is only a display system, like the selected display CHARSET in SAPGUI, when it is a non-unicode system, or simply not coded correctly like OPEN DATASET without specifying the cdepage when necessary.
And it might even be, that even "displaying" the XML File is simply done with the incorrect codepage while the data inside the file is correct.
If you are on Windows, you might even face funny results when saving a simple textfile from notepad with ANSI/DOS and both Unicode variants and then go to CMD.EXE ans simply "type" the content.
All 4 results will be different, allthough notepad will display the same stuff.
So first of all, makes sure which codepage is relevant at all stages from DB-table to "display"
    - DB-Charset
    - SAP system type (unicode/non-unicode)
    - SAP codepage (1100 / 410x )
    - crosscheck the test from report RSCPINST
    - Codepage on Windows running SAPGUI
    - Selected codpage for Sapgui
    Good hunting
