TS3276 mail smtp accounts keep going offline

My mail sending accounts keep going offline.  I am receiving mail ok but cannot send.  I have double checked all the settings and all are OK.  I have ensured that my OS (Lion) is updated but I cannot resolve this.  Is there a simple fix out there?  Many thanks

  • Mac OS X Leopard Mail SMTP server keeps going offline and won't come on

My SMTP in mail on my email accounts keeps going offline and I can't work out how to get it working again. My internet connection is fine. I am receiving emails. I was able to send earlier on my business email account but now my .mac account has gone offline and then my business on went on me.
I only started using my business email account in mail today and loaded the account into mail. Does anyone have any answers for this as I can see there have been some other people who might have had a similar problem but I can't see any fixes?
I have deleted and reloaded both my .mac and work account a couple of times now and restarted my computer but still no good.
    Can anyone help?

I have that offline mail smtp server when I try to send emails from work with my macbook. I've always been able to send emails away from home using the login and password in the smtp configurations. It's a real pain since I use one email account for work and personal business. I can receive email but cannot send any. Everytime I have to answer an email while I'm working, I have to go to the browser, go to my provider's mail page, login and send from there my emails.
Do we have the same problem?

  • Mail accounts keep going offline and then back on again

I am using Mail 4.4 on OS 10.6.6. I have 9 different email accounts in my inbox from 4 different domains. All the domains are hosted on a reseller account so they are all on the same server. Mail is scheduled to check mail every 5 minutes and each time alternating accounts go either on or offline. This behaviour also happens on my iphone 4 with IOS6 and ipad 2 with IOS5.
I am using the same setup and OS as I have been for the past year or so and it has been absolutely fine up until a few months ago. My ISP is being helpful and they have replicated the problem on one of their Macs but it doesn't happen on a PC. They are puzzled also.
I read somewhere that the mail app has a short time out where it takes the account offline if there is no response and that having all email accounts on the same server might cause this problem. Not sure if this is correct advice however.
I have turned off some of the accounts so that only 2 are in the inbox, its still happening but not as often. Anybody have any suggestions as its driving me mad.

My brother and mother are having the same problem. We all three are on SBC Yahoo! DSL and all share GoDaddy-based email addresses. I'm clearly on a different part of the SBC Network - as I have rarely had problems with mail accounts kicking me offline, whereas they have the same problem you do - accounts are random and inconsistent when they kick offline.
I've tried to research whether it's a GoDaddy, SBC or Mail issue. Thanks in advance!

  • Why do my Mail accounts keeping going offline since I switched to comcast?

I recently switched to Comcast. The ougoing mail for my new comcast accounts goies on and offline constantly all the time. It doesn't happen for my .mac account. I've tried changing the port to 465 or 587 but that doesn't make any difference. any ideas?

You will need to call Comcast and ask them exactly what settings they require; I've had multiple problems with them which were finally resolved when he told me to start using port 25 (but mentioned that that is not available everywhere and/or not widely used or something like that). I used to have to delete the Mail .plist and set up Mail again and again to the point that I made screenshots of all settings windows so I could just copy them if needed. Here is a screenshot of my outgoing (smtp) settings:
Again, this was at the direction of Comcast tech support. I believe they also now have a web page with instructions for Mac.

my outgoing mail is still offline after down loding yosemite

    Hello,

Modt likely the port or authentication method if nuser & Password are correct... sometimes the user ID is  JohnDoe, other times it needs to be [email protected]

  • My AOL account keeps going offline since I installed Yosemite

What setting may I alter, please, to get my AOL mail account back online. In my AOL Account settings, under outgoing mail servers, it states in parenthesis I am offline next to AOL.
Under Mailbox in the menu, there are only two options to take iCloud or AOL offline, but that doesn't make sense to me.
    Thank you for your help.

  • Mail keeps going offline on MobileMe and my ISP's POP

    Hi,
Just in the past 2 days my accounts keep going offline, If I bring them back online they instantly go offline again.
I opened the connection doctor and it says I am connected to the internet however in the details below it says it could not connect to his mobileme imap server or my 3 other pop servers.
I can get mail on my iPhone using the same Internet connection as my Mac.
This happens with wired and wireless connection.
A fix which works for 30 minutes or so is to disable all of my accounts in preferences and then save and then press enable again.
I spoke to Apple Care and they weren't much help.
Is there any other suggestions anybody can suggest? I am thinking of creating a temp account and importing my MBox's I don't know if this is a good idea though.
My MobileMe account is sitting at 670mb and all of my pop mail gets deleted and goes to 0mb as I run rules to transfer it to my MobileMe folders.
    Please help!!

I have a similar though not identical issue with Mail - I have Comcast and Mail goes offline constantly - I reboot - reenter the port #'s and it may or may cure it - I sometimes wait and it fixes itself - When I go to Comcast web mail it's all there. It's just the Mail application - it's not a Comcast issue -
I will also receive prompts saying that the pop a/c is asking for a different port # than I've been told to use 110 for incoming and 587 for outgoing - no ssl checked - sometimes it almost seems like the numbers change on their own - I doubt that is happening and nobody will cooberate that but still it goes offline constantly - very frusrating - I am sure it has to do with Apple's security precautions in Mail -

  • TS3276 All accounts keep going off line, quitting Mail fixes the issue

All accounts keep going off line, quitting Mail fixes the issue.
I have 3 Gmail, 1 hotmail and a yahoo. Al go off line with a little alert symbol next to them.
If I select take all accounts on line nothing happens.
    Email delivery stops.
To fix this, I quit Mail and re launch it. That fixes it.
    It's realy annoying.
    Any ideas?

I have the same problem - it started when I upgraded to OS X 10.8
I thought subsequent releases may help, but I'm now on 10.8.2 and no joy.

  • Yahoo mail keeps going offline

I updated my yahoo password the other day. Ever since then my yahoo mail (through imac mail app)  has been going offline. I can not send messages using my imac.  I should note that I do not have any issues signing into yahoo.com and sending/ receiving mail. Also usually when I send a message ( using mac mail) it sends from icloud.. not my yahoo.  I am not sure what information you may need.. so here is everything- probably things you do not need as well.
    Software:
    OS X Yosemite 10.10
processor 2.7 GHz intel Core i5
    mail version 8.0
icloud and yahoo are both "online"
    Description: Yahoo!
server name : smtp.mail.yahoo.com (in use by icloud, yahoo)
    TLS- none
    Port: 587
"automatically detect and maintain account settings" is checked
    "use SSL" is checked
    authentication : password
user name and password are correct..

If Mail keeps asking for your password when retrieving mail, then it may very likely be that the password you entered has become corrupted in the Keychain. You should try this:
Open Keychain Access>Passwords and scroll through the list to find that specific entry and delete it; quit Keychain Access.
Restart Mail and enter your password again when it asks, and check the box to save it in the Keychain. If things work as expected, it will not ask you again unless your Keychain or an entry in it becomes corrupted again.

  • Mail keeps going offline for no reason

During the course of a day Mail keeps going "Offline" and coming up with a dialogue box asking for me to re-enter my password. I've checked in my "account" and the information is still there so I manually have to click to go back "Online". But it repeats about every 15 minutes. Restarting the computer does not fix it and it's been happening for about 2 weeks now. Sometimes when I click to go back "Online" it doesn't happen straight away and I have to wait a few minutes. Very frustrating!!!. Sending mail is fine, it just affects receiving mail.

  • AIM account on Messages keep going offline

    Hello,
I recently installed Mountain Lion on my iMac (iMac10,1) and added my AIM account to Messages.
When I am using Messages, my AIM account frequently goes offline by itself (and sometimes reconnects again).
I was wondering if this has happened to anyone else and if there is a fix.
    Thank you,

Ive had this problem as well. I have four accounts two of which are yahoo accounts, 1 gmail, and 1 icloud. I have found that when you go to system preferences and then mail,contacts... and you click on details and retype your password it usually works. If that doesn't work though go to your email providers page and log in there and make sure your proxy settings are correct. Step two solved my issue. Hope this works for ya!

  • Mail accounts keep going off line since Mountain Lion upgrade

My iCloud accounts keep going off line after a while. When Mail asks me if I want to take my accounts online (after pressing the exclamation triangle) nothing happens. The only way to get my accounts back online is to close and reopen Mail. Any thoughts?

It might be worth pointing out I get the error message "The server returned the error: The server “p04-imap.mail.me.com” cannot be contacted on port 993.".
I've tried having Use SSL checked and unchecked but it doesn't seem to help. The only thing that solves it is closing and reopening Mail.
Finally it would now appear that it only happens after the mac has been woken from sleep.

  • Mail pinwheel just keeps going and going

After sending an email to hotmail.com the Mail pinwheel just keeps going and going and I keep receiving these massages (Delivery Status Notification (Failure)) with the same date and time. I delete them and they just keep on piling in the trash folder untill I decide to Delete them.
    Text in the messages says:
The following message to <[email protected]> was undeliverable.
    The reason for the problem:
5.1.0 - Unknown address error 550-'Requested action not taken: mailbox unavailable'
    Final-Recipient: rfc822;[email protected]
    Action: failed
    Status: 5.0.0 (permanent failure)
    Remote-MTA: dns; [65.54.244.136]
Diagnostic-Code: smtp; 5.1.0 - Unknown address error 550-'Requested action not taken: mailbox unavailable' (delivery attempts: 0)
    Reporting-MTA: dns; avas3.coqui.net

If they have already been removed from the server, you may be able to get rid of those messages in Mail doing Edit > Cut (⌘X) (for best results do it with one message or just a few at a time).
If the problems persist, you’ll have to get rid of the *.emlx files associated with the offending messages and re-create the index.
Verify/repair the startup disk (not just permissions), as described here:
The Repair functions of Disk Utility: what's it all about?
After having fixed all the filesystem issues, if any, and making sure that there’s enough space available on the startup disk (a few GB, plus the space needed to make a backup copy of the Mail folder), here are two alternative procedures that should allow you to fix the problem. Let me know which do you find more convenient and/or works better for you:
    <hr>
    PROCEDURE A
    1. Select the offending messages in Mail.
    2. Copy the following script, open /Applications/AppleScript/Script Editor, paste the script there, and click Run:
    set theFileList to {}
    tell application "Mail"
    set theSelection to the selection
    repeat with aMessage in theSelection
set aFileName to (id of aMessage as string) & ".emlx"
copy aFileName to the end of theFileList
    end repeat
    end tell
    get theFileList
A list of the *.emlx files associated with the offending messages should appear in the script’s Result pane (and in Script Editor’s Window > Result History).
    3. Quit Mail.
    4. In the Finder, go to ~/Library/Mail/. Make a backup copy of this folder, just in case something goes wrong, e.g. by dragging it to the Desktop while holding the Option (Alt) key down. This is where all your mail is stored.
    5. In the Finder, go to the ~/Library/Mail/POP-username@mailserver/ account folder.
    6. Move Deleted Messages.mbox to the Trash if there is nothing to be preserved there.
    7. Locate the offending *.emlx files within INBOX.mbox’s Messages folder and move them out of there, e.g. to the Desktop. You can open the *.emlx files with a text editor to view their contents and check that they do indeed correspond to the offending messages before getting rid of them.
    8. Go back to ~/Library/Mail/, locate Envelope Index and move it to the Trash. If you see an Envelope Index-journal file there, delete it as well.
    9. Open Mail. It will tell you that your mail needs to be “imported”. Click Continue and Mail will proceed to re-create Envelope Index — Mail says it's “importing”, but it just re-creates the index if the mailboxes are already in Mail 2.x format.
    <hr>
    PROCEDURE B
    1. Quit Mail and make a backup copy of the ~/Library/Mail folder, just in case something goes wrong, e.g. by dragging it to the Desktop while holding the Option (Alt) key down. This is where all your mail is stored.
    2. Open Mail.
    3. Create a new custom “On My Mac” mailbox.
    4. Select the affected account’s Inbox in Mail, then select all the messages it contains (Edit > Select All (⌘A)) and deselect the offending messages by Command-clicking (⌘-click) on them. That is, select all the messages in the mailbox except the offending ones.
    5. Do Message > Move To, and select the mailbox created is step 3. That is, move to another mailbox all the messages that should be preserved and that are stored in the same mailbox as the offending ones.
    6. Quit Mail.
    7. In the Finder, go to ~/Library/Mail/. Locate Envelope Index and move it to the Trash. If you see an Envelope Index-journal file there, delete it as well.
    8. In the Finder, go to ~/Library/Mail/POP-username@mailserver/. Move INBOX.mbox and Deleted Messages.mbox to the Trash.
    9. Open Mail. It will tell you that your mail needs to be “imported”. Click Continue and Mail will proceed to re-create Envelope Index — Mail says it's “importing”, but it just re-creates the index if the mailboxes are already in Mail 2.x format.
    <hr>
Note: For those not familiarized with the ~/ notation, it refers to the user's home folder, i.e. ~/Library is the Library folder within the user's home folder.

  • The messages app in Mountain Lion keeps going offline

Hi, I am using ML on a 2010 MBP (13inch).
The message app has been configured with my Yahoo, Google Talk and iMessages accounts. The problem is that it keeps going offline. Oddly though, even when offline, I can get iMessages sent to me and it comes back online, however, my Gtalk and Yahoo friends don't see me when it auto goes offline. I tried enabling/disabling SSL in gtalk settings - did not help. I am sure its not my internet  connection - I am now parallely using adium (after it kept going offline) and adium is always on for Google and Yahoo but the messages app keeps showing offline automatically (including message bar indication)

    HI,
The other post I read seemed to indicate that the app "Closed" in the background when you were doing something in the foreground.
Crashed = the system tells you an App Unexpectedly Quit or there is a Crash log.
Crash Logs can be seen in Console then ~/Library/Logs/CrashReporter
    Uploaded with Skitch!
You can of course navigate to your Home Folder/Library/Logs/CrashReporter and find the last Crash if there is one and it will launch Console when you try to open it.
At present I have not tried closing all the Messages windows and then letting the computer get to Sleep.
What do you have set in this spot ?
    Uploaded with Skitch!
I am wondering if this is a normal function of the App so that anyone who has access to your computer can't instantly access your Messages  partly as iMessages show so much "history" when a chat is reopened.

  • HP 8500A Plus - Keeps going offline.

An old problem but I still can't see a realistic solution on the net.
Keeps going offline - sometimes in the middle of a print run.
Turning Print Spooler off and on always cures it for a short while but this is inconvenient.
'Use Offilne' is NOT ticked. The offline message at the top of the outstanding documents list seeems to be different from and additional to the offline notice when offline is ticked.
I have given printer a fixed IP and told the router that this is a fixed IP. Checked they are the same.
When it is 'offline' it still has the correct IP address. And the router says it is connected.
This started several weeks ago. Since then I have completey changed the router and IP address range - for another reason. But its just the same problem.
    Anyone solved this problem?
PS I do have a couple of non HP inks installed. Is this HP's revenge?

    Hi lezzy,
Welcome to the HP Support Forums! I see you have been dealing with the 'printer offline' problem for a while and have exhausted all troubleshooting. Have you tried plugging in a USB to see if this makes a difference?
I would like you to run the HP Print and Scan Doctor- It was designed by HP to provide users with the troubleshooting and problem solving features needed to resolve many common problems experienced with HP print and scan products connected to Windows-based computers.
Does the PSDR find any errors, any software or drivers missing? Please let me know the outcome, I will watch for your reply.
