TS3276 Problems getting mail on my iMac (10.7.2) since 1/19

After trying troubleshooting, I was sent to Mail Connection Doctor.  I have a red dot saying " Trying to log in to this SMTP account failed.  Verify that the username and password are correct.  Connection and login to server for AOL, iCloud and the smtp for aol are all fine.  (I am getting mail on my iPhone and my husband's iPad and MacBookPro are all functioning correctly.
I see that the SMTP is wrong, but it won't let me correct it. It has some letters and #'s before the correct address, but it is in the faded print.
I see that iCloud had mail problems, but they supposedly are now on line.
Any way to correct this?
Thanks,
Mary Lou

I will try that...I have now done that several times.  When I type in the correct SMTP address...according to what the troubleshooting told me, the address comes up with "p99-" preceeding the correct imap address.  I took screen shots of how it was supposed to look vs. how it looks with those additional numbers.  Naturally, everything is out of warranty, so if I want Apple's assistance, I need to pay them a $49 fee...this irks me!  :-)
Prior to the apparent system problems for iCloud on Jan. 19, I am not getting any incoming email on my iMac.  It comes in everywhere else.  Prior to this, everything was working fine, so it really sounds like iCloud's problem, yet I can't find a way to get them to fix it.
Thanks for trying.
Mary Lou

Cannot get  mail on my iMac after responding to move to iCloud.
Mail Accounts settings:  Incoming Mail Server=mail.me.com and is grey(cannot change), IMAP Path Prefix=blank, Port =143 but greyed out, Use SSL not checked

You need SSL to be enabled: you chould check it and the port will probably change to 993. You should also check SSL in the SMTP server settings.
That done you should be able to use the existing MobileMe settings. If you are still having trouble you could go through the setup procedure for the iCloud server settings detailed here:
Entering iCloud email settings manually in Snow Leopard or Leopard

  • Problem getting mail.

Hello. I have an iPhone 4, and ever since I updated to the iOS 6 software, I have been unable to receive any email. I use yahoo mail, and whenever I refresh my inbox it either checks for mail for several minutes (resulting in "updated 9/19/12 23:13"), or it says "Cannot get mail. The connection to the server failed". I've already gone to the troubleshooting section for iPhone 4 email on this site, and none of those suggestions seemed to help. I know that there is no problem with my yahoo account, because I tried opening my mail with my second generation iPod touch and I was successful. I've also done plenty of research. Many people suggested deleting the mail account and then setting it up again, while others suggested using the safari browser to access mail from there. Although those are two great ideas, they still don't seem to solve my problem. Yahoo mail won't let me log into my account on safari, for some strange reason, and if I delete my yahoo account from my phone to set it up again I will lose my iCloud data! Not being able to access my email on the go has become a great inconvenience… so ANY tips or suggestions are greatly appreciated! Thank you in advance.

I'm not sure why I thought it would completely delete all of my iCloud data. But according to the picture I attached, if it deleted all of the iCloud data off of my phone I'm not quite sure how I would get that data back. It makes me a bit nervous because I've read that others were unsuccessful in deleting and setting up their email accounts all over again... so I'm a bit afraid to take that risk.

    Help

No one has taken an interest in helping me get Mail configured. I cannot spend any more money forin house techs to charge $100/hour. Online Apple support set it up it lasted one week. Cox spent hours here and failed. Only webmail with cox works. Neither of my computers. This tells me I think that is is some setting like syncing Mail with my laptop that is screwing up. I know many of you have laptops and desktops and travel and must use Mail on both computers. So there is no help for my posts. Thanks.

  • TS3276 problem with mail delivery

has anyone else gotten a "problem during delivery processing" message with each outgoing message? it just randomly started happening to me this morning.  it says my message was sent but the reason:  Error in sieve filter: Notify mailto: recipient is not a valid address
one comes from postmaster@mac and one comes from Internet Mail Delivery....

My Wife and I both have an Ipad and an iPhone, I use an iMac and my wife a MacBook Pro.
I have this problem with all my devices.
My wife has NOT got this problem.
We both use a [email protected] email acount.
    Just compared the settings:
For "Incoming server" I have p03-imap.mail.me.com
My Wife has p02-imap.mail.me.com .... and has not got this problem.
I have setup a new rule for incoming mails (for the meantime):
move all incoming emails from [email protected] to trash and delete it.
Works fine for now,......until APPLE deals with the problem.

  • TS3276 Problems with Mail - suddenly stopped on one account

I am on a iMac using OSx 10.8.4 running Mail 6.5.  One of my mail accounts running off an MS Exchange sudden stopped sending and receiving mail.  Meanwhile my old MacBook Pro running a much earlier version of OSX and a similarly older version of Mail has no problem.
The Connection Doctor says that the connection to the server is good, so I'm baffled.
    Thoughts?
    Thanks

I'm seeing the same issues as well. Not sure what to do.

  • Problems with mail on my iMac

    Hi Everyone,
Since upgrading to OSX 10.8.1 on my iMac, I have been having a recurring problem with my mail.
When I write a letter on my iMac and attach a photo, my mail program sends the mail, but then it keeps a draft of that email.  I will look in the sent folder and it shows that the mail has been sent.  Then, within a couple of minutes to an hour, a copy of that sent email will show up in my Drafts folder.
This does NOT happen if I do not attach a file to an email, it only happens when I attach a photo.  I haven't sent any emails with attachments other than photos, so I am not sure if the same thing happens with other types of documents.
    Any ideas?
    Marlo Casabar

You might have more luck finding an answer to your question over here: https://discussions.apple.com/community/desktop_computers/imac_intel as this is the Macbook Pro section.
    Goodluck.

  • TS3276 Problems receiving mail

    hi.
Since 12th of June I cannot receive mail, but I can send mail. I'm using mail on OS X 10.6.8 on a Mac Pro 8 core with 20 GB RAM. I have changed nothing, and my mailprovider tells me, that they have changed nothing, and I have to contact Apple. I'm getting no messages about faults.
My settings are unchanged, and I have controlled everything. Has apple changed something since 12th of june?
    Best regards

The short story: If you have no email issues on other linked devices, the trouble lies singularly with your Mac. Check your mail folders. Do you see a "Recovered Messages" folder? Click on folder, and see if it has the same email(s) looped over and over again. If so, this email may have jammed your mail system up. Try this: <http://reviews.cnet.com/8301-13727_7-57488837-263/fix-os-x-mail-creating-multipl e-recovered-messages/>
    The long story:
I too have OS X 10.6.8, core i7. Initially I stopped receiving mail, but was able to send. Please note that this was only an issue on my MacBook. All other linked devices had no issue connecting/receiving emails from the same account. This is how I knew that the problem was with my MAC, and NOT my Gmail. After perusing trouble-shooting forums, and doing all the obvious (ie. Taking all accounts offline, and signing back on, going down the checklist of the obvious- blah blah), I gave up on the mail account even though I could see the obvious signs my mail folder was in distress (looping of same message in recovered folder). But wait- the troubles didn't end there! Then my mac begin to slow down, I was unable to save or download anything, and I kept getting the pop up message that my start-up disk was full and that I needed to creat new space! I knew the problems were related but didn't know where they connected. I kept removing files from my Mac to create space- a few gigs there, a gig here. And within hours- the freed up space would be used up. So I searched forums for "Startup disk full" and did everything the forums suggested including entering command in the terminal- all to no avail. I began to think against all odds, my Mac had a virus. And then today, after a month of fustration and finding that my Netflix Silverlight software needed to be updated, but my Mac refused to update it due to lack of "Disk space", I opened up Mac Mail again, and decided to delete all the mail folders saved on the computer- just for the heck. One in particular- "Recovered Messages" had the same email over and over. I had noticed this before, thought it was strange and had tried to delete the folder, but when it didn't delete, I didn't think anything of it. Nor did I catch the fact that the folder continuously recovered an email that happened to have a 67mb attachment. On a whim, I check the Mac HD info after I cleared all messages in that folder, and saw that the Mac HD available space went from 40mb to 300+gb. The problem was the "Recovered Messages" folder would not delete, and continued to add the same email over and over, and the email message was eating up all the space on my disk. So having pinpointed the issue- I was able to find this article: <http://reviews.cnet.com/8301-13727_7-57488837-263/fix-os-x-mail-creating-multipl e-recovered-messages/>  This worked for me after everything else failed. I did not have a V2 subdirectory, so I went straight for the folder starting with IMAP. The "Recovered Messages" folder disappeared immediately.  I can't believe that I overlooked what I knew was unusual behavior in my mail folder!  My Mac is back to normal: receiving new emails and disk space is recovered.

  • Problem getting mail from Adobe Forums

Does anyone have any idea what is going on with this problem:
I am subscribed to certain forums under my mac.com email. But I don't get those emails on my MacBook Pro.
However, I do get those messages on my iPad and iPhone.
The only way I have been able to get forum messages has been to sign in under a gmail account and subscribe.
I just spoke to my Internet Service Provider (Time Warner) and they say they are not blocking the forum messages.
Is there something in the header of the forum mail that keeps it from getting through to my mail program on OS X?

Could there be a "spam filter" on the MacBook Pro, that is catching those Adobe e-mails - one that does not exist on your other devices?
    Good luck,
    Hunt

  • Problems with Mail. No content shown.

I have a problem with Mail on my iMac OSX 10.9.5. Mail downloads the message ok but message has no content. I click on the message but no content is shown. This happens in all the boxes and includes emails that have previously opened. When I reply to one of these messages the content is shown in the reply window. So everything works fine except when highlighting each email it tells me NO Message Selected. I hope I have explained that well enough. I hope there is someone that can help.
I have been trying to solve it for about 5 hours. Help please!

    Try a restart.
Do a backup, using either Time Machine or a cloning program, to ensure files/data can be recovered. Two backups are better than one.
Try setting up another admin user account to see if the same problem continues. If Back-to-My Mac is selected in System Preferences, the Guest account will not work. The intent is to see if it is specific to one account or a system wide problem. This account can be deleted later.
Isolating an issue by using another user account
Try booting into the Safe Mode using your normal account.  Disconnect all peripherals except those needed for the test. Shut down the computer and then power it back up after waiting 10 seconds. Immediately after hearing the startup chime, hold down the shift key and continue to hold it until the gray Apple icon and a progress bar appear and again when you log in. The boot up is significantly slower than normal. This will reset some caches, forces a directory check, and disables all startup and login items, among other things. When you reboot normally, the initial reboot may be slower than normal. If the system operates normally, there may be 3rd party applications which are causing a problem. Try deleting/disabling the third party applications after a restart by using the application un-installer. For each disable/delete, you will need to restart if you don’t do them all at once.
