Try to connect in recovery mode to restore, without using the latest backup, explained here:

Time Machine is nice, but you have very little in terms of ability to verify that your data is all backed up. I find Time Machine is better for the occasional recovery of previously written data at specific times. A good backup solution that survives an erase and install (there is no clean install in Mac OS X), is a clone, and preferably TWO clones. See my FAQ*:

Time Machine can work as good as a clone, and in fact I once had to rely on it because my hard drive died. Thankfully it did recover everything. But I had my clone just in case it didn't work. Now I feel more comfortable since clones allow you to boot themselves, and thus prove all the important system information got saved, and not just the user data.
Clones are also easier to import with the migration assistant. -

Hello, my mac book air won't update. Every time i try it goes onto the purple starry screen and stays that way for hours, so i just have to shut it down. I have deleted a lot on my laptop so there is enough space, please help?
I believe that system has a hall sensor on it to detect when the lid is closed so it can put the system to sleep and/or disable the monitor so it can be used with an external monitor only. If the sensor is marginal or has a bad cable, it may intermittently cut the monitor on and off, and may likewise put the system to sleep. One way to check would be to plug in an external monitor and if the laptop's screen cuts off or doesn't show up, start using the trackpad and press on a non-typing key like the shift key. If the external display suddenly pops and becomes active while the laptop display remains black, it's probably a problem with the sensor or the cable/connection. You might be able to fool the sensor into kicking on and off by moving a magnet over it. It's located on the left had side of the base with the unit opened up, and right over the audio output plug.
I know of some people that put a small magnet right over the hall sensor's location so the laptop display turns off and they use the system with an external monitor, keyboard, and mouse. If fooling with magnets, make sure they're small and don't get them close to the hard drive because a strong magnet can wipe them out.

Try this:
1. Reset the iPhone by pressing and holding the sleep/wake and home buttons and releasing them, when the Apple logo appears on the display. Now test again.
2. If the issue persists: Restore the iPhone without any of your own content, using this description from Apple: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4137

Guys, I just upgraded my iphone 3gs to ios6, it took 2 hours get it installed. However asfter installing there are issues with activating it.
Its getting failed every time..."says the activation server is temporarily unavailable".
Tried activating via itunes but no respite " says No sim inserted".
pls help.No, I did not find a way to fix it. Went to Apple store to be told that the phone is dead and I would need to purchase a new phone. A little frustrated with the fact that it is Apple who caused the phone to not work!

Unfortunately, it is not possible to retrieve the deleted data. If you have made the changes to the response and closed the response window; new data must have been saved automatically. In future, if you accidentally overwrite any data; please press ctrl+z to undo the change.

so yesterday i updated to ios 8.0.2 and i lost all of my pictures and notes and whatnot and i dont think i have them saved on my icloud or anything , the pictures and notes were really important to me but i have no idea how to get them back . can someone please help me ?
Well, if you updated to 8.2, then you are living in a different world than the rest of us. 8.1 was just released on Monday.
Do you not have an iCloud or iTunes backup that you can restore to? Have you not been importing your photos to a photo library on your computer?
Maybe you could start from the beginning and we can see if we can help. If you had to restore your device, and you have absolutely no backups, then, I'm afraid you are out of luck. However, if you have backups, or if you have been importing your photos on a regular basis, then probably most of your stuff can be recovered.

Just upgraded to 3G, restored but don't have visual voicemail. Please Help!
I just upgraded from my 1st gen iPhone to a 3G. After a long restore, I suddenly realized my phone has no visual voicamail. The lady at AT&T told me I had to set it up again, but in the phone options menu there is no settings for voicemail anymore. Please help out.

You have to add your artwork in iTunes and then update your iPod:
iPod & iTunes for Dummies - Adding Album Cover Art or Images in iTunes
Add Song Information, Lyrics, and Artwork to My Tunes
Make sure your iPod is enabled to show the artwork. Connect it to your computer and when it shows in iTunes go to Edit>Preferences>iPod>Music tab and tick the box "Display album artwork on your iPod"
A tip for finding suitable artwork is to go to Amazon, locate the album, save the picture to your desktop and drag it to the iTunes artwork pane. Another way would be to locate artwork using Google image search and put the artist or album name and save the picture you find there in the same way. There are also some programs like this one iTunes Art Importer or MP3 Tag -

How are we supposed to know? We don't know anything about your computer nor your file and folder structures. If the file was saved properly, it may appear under File --> Recent fiels in the menu, but we really cannot know any of that.
