TS3991 iCloud sync problem with iPad

Hello, I have bought a new iPad (first time) and wanted to sync my presentations currently stored in iCloud using Keynote. With my iPhone, it works perfectly but when it comes to iPad, I see the files but they are not downloading. I see just empty downloading bars, but they stay like that. I also can't delete them because they haven't been downloaded yet
So, I tried deleting them from iCloud and lets see if they are gonna disappear. But no, they haven't. Even though I tried closing/reopening icloud option for Keynote (when i closed it asked me whether you want to delete files or not, I said "yes, delete them") they appeared again.
Currently, I closed iCloud option for Keynote and imported my files using Dropbox, I would be really happy if I can use iCloud service again.
Thanks.

Welcome to the Apple community.
Have you tried deleting your iCloud account from your iOS device and adding it back again.

  • ICal v4.0.4/OSX.6.8 sync problem with iPad 3

    I've asked for help on the iPad forum twice now without a single response, so I am thinking that it might be an iCal/iTunes problem rather then iPad/Calendar one!
    I'll repeat the basics here and post this link (https://discussions.apple.com/message/21740855#21740855) to my iPad thread post which explains in more detail.
    Essentially, syncing between my iCal v4.0.4 (1395.7) under MacOSX.6.8 Build 10K549 and my Calendards under iOS 6.1.3 (10B329) on an iPad 3rd generation is erratic and unreliable.  I do not use iCloud and syncing is done via USB cable and iTunes v11.0.2 (26).
    What makes it worse is that the symptoms change!
    Currently, appointments created on the iPad do not sync across to iCal but appointments created in iCal do sync across to the iPad.
    Previously, existing appointments shown in iCal but which are subsequently edited show in iCal as expected but on the iPad as both the old and new entry.  Also, when creating an appointment in iCal the edit panel opens in the default calendar which is then changed to the correct calendar and actual data - the default panel and edited data both appreaded on the iPad.
    I have recently noticed that iCal periodically, yet rarely, presents a message when opening: Upgrading iCal Calendars and when this has completed, syncing returns to normal.  However, I have no idea what prompts that message nor how I could manually start an "upgrading" so that I can force a syncing correction.
    Complicated?  Well, it is rather difficult to explain what I mean as the problem is so erratic and inconsistent.
    I have tried the Apple suggestion here: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1627 and it made no difference whatsoever.
    In short, how can I get the iCal and Calendars to sync reliably and acurately?
    My forehead is somewhat flattened after I have spent many hours beating my head against a brick wall over this - please help before the wall gets damaged beyond repair!

    Well, being a bit short of time (and an alleged alpha type male who always rushes ahead of common sense!) I followed your instructions and added a few thoughts of my own along the way - specifically that iTunes might somehow be implicated in this curious affair as that was being used for the syncing. process.
    The result is, I hope you'll be delighted to know, success - syncing is now back to what I would have expected and what nature intended.
    For now that is, because there have been false dawns before and I expect the problem to return and haunt me again at some stage.
    But next time I'll be ready and will know how to confound and defeat the Apple Agents of Confusion!.
    What I did was ...
    backed up iCal to the Desktop in case it all went horribly wrong;
    sync'd without iCal/Calendars being checked in iTunes and thus all iPad calendars were initialised;
    powered off the iPad to remove any "RAM" type data being maintained;
    as earlier, deleted the iCal plist and all iCal/Calendar cache files but this time not only from the main user but from my DropBox and MacMate on-line back-ups (but not from Time Capsule as I wanted to have a fall-back position if it all went pear-shaped) by using Spotlight to look for all Calendar cache files wherever they might be.  I found a number of "document" files called Calendar Cache 17-22-4n n, one per day, stretching back to 23 03 2013 and these were located in my Dropbox folder.  Maybe that's the date when the current errors started to arise?  I really can't remember, but why would the iPad be looking for such files in my DropBox folder?  Most odd.
    reset the SyncServices folder;
    deleted the iTunes plist in case the "memories" of earlier appointments were in there - a long shot and probably a useless step, but I couldn't see any harm in doing it;
    logged out of my user and then back in again;
    relaunched iTunes to recreate a clean plist and then reset my preferences.  Quit iTunes;
    relaunched iCal to recreat a clean plist and then reset my preferences;
    turned on the iPad and connected it via USB lead;
    opened iTunes and reset the syncing options which were erased by resetting the SyncServices folder ealrier;
    sync'd the two devices.  iTunes reported that the iPad was "sync'd with another user" and asked if I wanted to Merge the data or Replace the data on the iPad - I guess that meant all data and not just iCal data as the latter had been cleaned from the iPad in the second stepo above.
    Selected Replace data and sync'd;
    entered a new appointment on iCal, another new one on the iPad and edited the times of an existing appointment on each device and re-sync'd ...
    ... and Robert's your mother's sister's brother's other brother!  Or Bob's your uncle, for short.
    Oh, I missed the final and most important step ...
    breathed a sigh of relief and hit the caffeine!
    I have no idea of which step is the one which resolved the issue so when (note when, not if) it happens again I'll repeat the process one step at a time (re-syncing each step) to see just where in the process the incorrect data is held.
    I'll report back on this thread if I do manage to narrow down the steps to the vital one(s) as I cannot imagine that I'm the only person in the world experiencing this bizarre behaviour.
    As I mentioned in other posts, this has happened more than once before but on those occasions it resolved itself without my intervention - save for me uttering a fair number of good old-fashioned Anglo-Saxon Oaths and Curses all the while the syncing was incorrect - and it was only recently that I noticed it corrected itself after an "iCal upgrade".  That may have been a coincidence, though, as forcing an upgrade deliberately did not cure it this time.
    So I'm pretty confdent it will happen again, but just what triggers this untoward behaviour is beyond me - I can't think of anything that I might do which causes it, nor can I begin to imagine from where the iPad collects the "historical" deleted appointment data which it then displays in addition to the "current" data on appointments.  Nor can I think why it suddenly takes it upon itself to sync (albeit incorrectly) from iCal to iPad but not the other way round.
    I didn't mention this before, but at one point I discussed this with an AppleCare Level 2 Support dweeb in Cork - and he was totally unable to fix it no matter what he tried, nor could he explain what was happenig and why!
    Many thanks for your advice and patience - you may consider yourself a Level 3 (or higher!) surrogate AppleCare Genius!

  • Foto sync problem with ipad

    Hi all
    after having synced my ipad all fotos have dropped out of their folders. they were still there, but not in the folders anymore they belong to. after a number of syncs later, all pictures got lost at the ipad (they are still at the pc). How to fix?
    Cheers
    SfH

    Look what I just found (could that be the problem) here?:
    4. My iPad gives me an error upon sync to my Windows 7 computer.
    I learned this one the hard way. Some computers with motherboards based on the Intel P55 chipset and running Win 7 can produce inexplicable errors when syncing both the iPhone and iPad. Motherboards from Gigabyte, MSI and Asus can be affected. The fix must be done at the deepest levels of your computer's software controls, the Basic Input Output System (BIOS) on your motherboard. Tinkering with your BIOS used to be a you-better-know-what-you're-doing proposition, but these days, updating it is generally a simple process that can be done within the Windows OS. Check with the manufacturer of your motherboard or computer to see if they've issued a BIOS upgrade to fix the problem. If not, you might want to give a call to the company's technical support line and give ‘em an earful.

  • ICloud sync problems with 10.9.3

    Over the last 2 months I've noticed that from time to time my Notes & Calender stop syncing to iCloud from my MacBookPro.  For example, the Notes window has "Updating ..." tacked onto the window title bar.  When this happens, it's often the case that the iCloud pane in System Preferences won't open.
    Other discussions suggest checking accounts etc but this clearly isn't the problem since iCloud syncing starts working again after a restart.
    Any ideas?  Should I try a system re-install?

    I think I have solved the problem myself (but thanks again Csound1 for your suggestion as it made me try other remedies.)
    There are two almost identical MacBook Pros in our home (mine and my wife's) and I keep them synced at intervals.  I think the problem may have been to do with the fact that my account on each computer uses iCloud for Notes, Calendar and Mail accounts, and in some way the two Macs had become too identical so that iCloud was not distinguishing between them, leading to what I think system programmers call a 'deadly embrace' (each Mac waiting for the other to finish some task, like two ultra polite people trying to let each other go through a door first).  Since carrying out the steps below on 20th June, iCloud sync has been working perfectly, Mail has stopped crashing, and the iCloud pane in System preferences always opens when I select it.  In fact I have not had to use Force Quit at all since that date, and I have not restarted my computer (just let it sleep when not in use).
    What I did was:
    Step 1: made backups or archives of all mailboxes, notes, calendars and contacts from my Mac (anything that had anything to do with iCloud).
    Step 2: on my Mac from System Preferences, selected the iCloud control pane, turned off iCloud syncing for all options individually, accepting any advisories that data copies would be deleted from my Mac.
    Step 3: still in the iCloud pane of System Preferences, logged my Mac out of iCloud.
    Step 4: repeated steps 2 and 3 for my duplicate account on my wife's Mac.
    Step 5: restarted both Macs.
    Step 6: on each Mac, logged back into iCloud and re-enabled iCloud syncing where wanted. [In the case of contacts, I deleted all contacts on the Mac completely first as otherwise you end up with duplicated entries as the data from iCloud is merged with the data on the Mac itself.] All the iCloud data was then correctly downloaded onto each Mac, and I did not need the backups I had made (but of course one should always make backups before carrying out any major re-organisation).
    I have also checked my cross-Mac syncing procedures, and now I only sync folders that I know hold user content.  This means anything that's not in ~/Library (the user's library), but it can also include some folders in the library such as mailboxes.  Of course there's no point re-syncing anything set up to sync via iCloud (such as notes, calendars and contacts), but even if you select Mail in iCloud preferences actual mail messages aren't included, hence the need to sync ~/Library/Mail if you keep mail on your computer (as I do) rather than relying in an IMAP mail server.
    That was it, and as I said, it seems to be holding good.
    Hope these notes will be helpful to someone else.

  • Music sync problems with ipad after 8.1.3 update

    So toady after many weeks of meaning to update my music on iPad, I got round to doing it. I could cry at this moment I had the same problems with my iPod a few weeks back, where I could get so far with putting music on and then iTunes would just wipe what I had just put on. Does anyone know how to fix this problem? I ended up just giving up with my iPod. I lost over 200 songs, that iTunes decided to wipe off my device, and now I have just lost over 100 on my iPad. Help would be appreciated

    Thanks Apple, for breaking my ipad, I suppose I will just have to wait for a 8.1.3 Jailbreak update, have never done it before, but it looks like that's the only possible way to get my ipad working again.

  • ICloud sync problem with calendar Events on MBP and iPhone since last update. Some of my calendars appear to have either been deleted or merged.

    I've noticed quite a few events have disappeared since the last update. Also my calendars appear to have either been deleted or merged. I've lost some very important events. Has anyone else had these problems?

  • Alpine car head unit syncing problems with ipad 2

    I have just purchased an ipad 2 and I love it. I am setting it up in my car to use as a head unit. I want to control my car sound system using my ipad 2 but have it plugged into my Alpine head unit. Here's the dilemma, my head unit has two input settings. 1) An Aux input 2)ipod ready controller - The head unit has a cable that connects to the 30pin ipod doc and then I can control my ipod through my head unit. Here is the model head unit that I have
    http://www.alpine-usa.com/product/view/cda-105/
    Now I obviously can use the Aux plug in and that does work BUT the quality doesn't compare when using the ipod controller 30pin cable. The ipad 2 does sync to the head unit but I can now only control my music through the head unit. I want to still have control over the ipad 2. Is there any possible way to make this happen? Is there a setting on the ipad 2 or the head unit that I should be aware about? I really don't want to resort to the Aux just to have control...

    I've never used the 105 but have owned several Alpines. They traditionally do not allow iPod/iPad/iPhone control. You would need to get a Pioneer to use the 30pin connector and control is from the i device itself.

    gianlucastr,
    an EXC_BAD_ACCESS exception type with a KERN_PROTECTION_FAILURE exception code typically has one of two causes — either a programming error, or faulty RAM. If this was due to a programming error, then you can check to see if there’s an applicable patch to your version of Outlook, or wait for the next Mavericks update from Apple, to see if either of these would fix this problem. If it’s due to faulty RAM, then you can try running your MacBook Pro’s Apple Hardware Test to see if it can detect any RAM problems. (It’s not able to detect all possible RAM problems, so no error detected by the AHT is not a guarantee of non-defective RAM.)

  • Sync problems with iCloud & Outlook 2010?

    I am having sync problems with Outlook. Sync seems to cause outlook to crash, run boggy, etc. Tried Code Two software to sync which only made thing worse. Any ideas?

    Another way to put it would be: What is the optimal combination when you have a Windows PC running Outlook on one hand, and want to sync contact and calendar information with your iPhone over the Internet?
    Maybe I should ask, what is the least painful way of doing this?
    Is it Gmail+Outlook+some add on?
    Outlook.com + Outlook?
    Or something else?

    You may have to do this several times.
    Saw this solution on another post about an iPad in a school environment. Might work on your iPad so you won't lose everything.
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    ‘iPad is disabled’ fix without resetting using iTunes
    Today I met my match with an iPad that had a passcode entered too many times, resulting in it displaying the message ‘iPad is disabled – Connect to iTunes’. This was a student iPad and since they use Notability for most of their work there was a chance that her files were not all backed up to the cloud. I really wanted to just re-activate the iPad instead of totally resetting it back to our default image.
    I reached out to my PLN on Twitter and had some help from a few people through retweets and a couple of clarification tweets. I love that so many are willing to help out so quickly. Through this I also learned that I look like Lt. Riker from Star Trek (thanks @FillineMachine).
    Through some trial and error (and a little sheer luck), I was able to reactivate the iPad without loosing any data. Note, this will only work on the computer it last synced with. Here’s how:
    1. Configurator is useless in reactivating a locked iPad. You will only be able to completely reformat the iPad using Configurator. If that’s ok with you, go for it – otherwise don’t waste your time trying to figure it out.
    2. Open iTunes with the iPad disconnected.
    3. Connect the iPad to the computer and wait for it to show up in the devices section in iTunes.
    4. Click on the iPad name when it appears and you will be given the option to restore a backup or setup as a new iPad (since it is locked).
    5. Click ‘Setup as new iPad’ and then click restore.
    6. The iPad will start backing up before it does the full restore and sync. CANCEL THE BACKUP IMMEDIATELY. You do this by clicking the small x in the status window in iTunes.
    7. When the backup cancels, it immediately starts syncing – cancel this as well using the same small x in the iTunes status window.
    8. The first stage in the restore process unlocks the iPad, you are basically just cancelling out the restore process as soon as it reactivates the iPad.
    If done correctly, you will experience no data loss and the result will be a reactivated iPad. I have now tried this with about 5 iPads that were locked identically by students and each time it worked like a charm.
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    Try it and good luck. You have nothing more to lose if it doesn't work for you.
     Cheers, Tom

  • Audio Sync Problems With Share YouTube -- OSX not iOS

    I've replicated this several times. It's maddening and bizarre. *Share YouTube*
    Exporting a FCPX video using the "SHARE" menu and choosing YouTube causes the resulting upload to be out of sync when viewed in Safari or other browsers on iOS
    Viewing the same video on the iPad with the built in YouTube app, the video plays in sync
    Viewing the same video on AppleTV 2 (with the 5.1 update), the video plays in sync.
    If I export using Export Media menu item under the SHARE menu, and then from QuickTime Player choose Export For Web (under the File menu) and manually upload, the video is in sync.
    Note, that using
    Feel free to try on this short simple and silly video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cGTQNMJdPRQ&list=UUiDxioBFJCPC-8OUFifsx8A&index=2 &feature=plcp
    Anyone else experience this. Is this a bug or a feature? Rather not go through three steps to upload a simple YouTube video.

    We've got the same problem and yep, it's infuriating that are so few posts about it.
    It doesn't happen with every video, but the vast majority of files that we've tried to either export directly to YouTube from QTX or export locally and then manually upload to YouTube end up with shockingly bad audio sync (and also some colour issues, but that's another story).
    As a small video production company we were chuffed to bits with the improved export speed in QTX and quick to make use of it. But when we realised there was a problem, we had to revert back to using QT7's painfully slow export.
    We've run experiments on a brand new iMac and MacBook Pro running the most up-to-date version of OS X and still no joy. Always the same audio sync problems with the same video files.
    In the meantime however,  we've found that the settings advised on this YouTube help page have given us the best (albeit slow) results at both 25fps and 30fps when exporting from QT7:

  • Yosemite Mail still has sync problems with Gmail - any solutions?

    I notice that Yosemite Mail still has sync problems with Gmail. After running for some hours, I noticed there were 6 emails in my Gmail account that had not synced over the past hour.
    In the meanwhile, for safety's sake (don't want to miss emails!) I'm back to Mailplane. But I wonder if anybody knows of a solution to this long term problem first introduced in Mavericks. Works fine in iOS Mail though.
    Thanks,
    doug

    I don't think we'll ever have a "best of both worlds" Doug. I've used Gmail since the week it launched the first beta in 2004, and it's always been a bit of a love-hate relationship for me (mostly love). With the demise of the Google Notifier for Mac, I went with Mailplane, but even it has problems. Like when I see my iPhone update with new mail and I'm looking at Mailplane and it won't update at times with even a forced refresh. I often have to close/reopen it to see new messages. But, it's hard to live without my Google Calendar only a tab click away, one of the primary reasons I use Mailplane, that plus changing view zoom sticks with Mailplane and won't with Gmail.
    For years I've thought Gmail labels were the perfect filing solution, but over the past few weeks I've been analyzing just how much I really use that feature, and for me...it's not all that much. I think I could simplify my life by putting everything into appropriate folders (as in all other email apps). Apple doesn't realize just how much money they're losing by not allowing people to use private domains with iCloud mail...which I would do in a heartbeat just because it would work perfectly with Mail.app. I would pay even more than I currently pay Google for this solution with Google Apps Business. So, I'm actually on the verge of moving my private domain to the best email service I can find and then using it with Mail.app. The problem here, of course, is I'll lose the best spam control on the planet (Gmail). So, as you say, there simply is not a "best" solution for all these things. I'll at least try a new email service first with some other domain to see how I like it before moving my primary email.
    Lastly, the other thing that incenses me is synching of flags between iOS and Apple Mail. It works fine between Gmail and iOS Mail, since all I care about is whether a message is starred/flagged or not.  But using Apple Mail, when I flag a message it will not show as flagged in their own iOS Mail, which is incomprehensible, given they built both apps.
    If you find a great solution or discover anything new...please post it here, Doug. Thanks.

  • Photo sync problem with Windows Vista?

    I did some searching and was wondering if there is a solution to the photo sync problem with Windows Vista. I have gone the route of changing some of my photos to bitmap files but this is was way too much work just to view on ipod. I like to email Apple but could not find a link to do so. As far as I know I have all updates but still the iPod does not sync photos. Is there an update to this that I am missing or am I stuck changing all my photos to .bmp files?
    Thanks,
    Dean.

    I checked out the article and not much help, thanks anyway.
    Would it make a difference if I purchased Adobe Photo Album or would I still be stuck with changing and saving files to .bmp extensions? I have Adobe Photoshop album starter but still have to change file extensions.
    If someone has a solution to this problem I would really be greatfull. I did contact Dell as this is a brand new computer and that was a wash. They did give me a number for Apple but of course I bought the iPod off of ebay and has no warranty on it so unless I pay a fee I'm not calling. It just blows my mind that Microsoft and Apple can't or won't come up with a fix. But I guess when Microsoft wants you to buy the Zune or Apple wants you to buy the overpriced Macintosh why would they waste time on having there products compatible with each other.
    Thanks.
