TS4337 Ical/applescript/animator can a customised event with added fields be generated?

Yet again i find myself trawling the Internet to find the best solution to my quest.
I run my own business and share jobs with a select amount of people through iCal on our iphone's ipad's and Macbooks as do my associate's. Currently we use the generic event that is created in iCal but most of our information has to go into note's at the bottom of the event, which frankly is a pain in the ****. Why Apple with the million's of $$$ in cash they seem to have in the bank haven't given the billions of loyal customer's the freedom to create their own fully customisable event's is beyond me, anyway back to the propblem.
What if any is the best way to approach this problem and giving us a solution?
Do we use a third party software like Bento 4 or Filemaker Pro?
Do we use Applecript or Animator or Both?
we are not looking to set up a database, once every six months I backup my calandar to Excel and that is it.
Any suggestions would be appriciated. Many Thanks in advance.

Putting the additaional columns in the table will result in me storing redundant info in the specific table.
The values are already stored in other related tables and I'd just like to display them as additional info fields.

Can't create events with times between 10:01 and 19:59

I've recently updated to OSX 10.4.9, and now can't create events with times that start with a '1'. This only seems to be a problem on the day British Summer Time begins on 25 March.
I usually create my events in the month view, and input the start and end times by clicking in the time boxes and typing in the hours and minutes. However when I try to put in a start time of, say, 11:00, it puts in 21:00 instead. The only way around this seems to be to put in a time it will accept, like 09:00, and using the arrow keys to move it to the time I want. Or creating the events in the day view and clicking on the start time there.
Any ideas?

Looks like you have found a wee bug. I can replicate it. You could report it though OS X Feedback or better though ADC, but for the latter you have to register first.
I usually create events by double-clicking in week view; often this gets the start time right, but if not then edit the start time in the info pane. Your bug is there with events created in day and week views too.

Thank you for suggesting the link. it seems the problem was even simpler than I had thought had I read the FAQ link of the iCal/me upgrade notification ... Apple's latest version of iCal simply does not support versions of the iOS earlier than 4.2. The device I had been using was a first generation touch... Still working ... with out error in good condition despite having been to hades and back... But no longer supported by the newer versions of the iOS and the .ME ical application...
Another beautiful but orphaned device:-(. Like the absence of support for "ancient" apple operating systems, including their more interesting applications, it is simply no longer supported...one must move on to purchase new hardware and it's associated software to keep up with the evolving cloud os. The blank screen ical problem, on the touch, was corrected by performing the standard start up reboot procedure...with no loss of data and a return of the screen interface in the end. Again another example of the really outstanding past efforts to make robust system products. I will try to put my old touch to good use in its new " retirement" status ...use it some where else, like my original 128k Mac ( that still works as well!). Guess it is time to purchase a newer tool ;-)

ICal - AppleScript To Convert ToDos To Events

I use a iMac G4 800MHz 15" running 10.4.11. I have used Chronos Personal Organizer 4.5.0 for quite some time. I want to transfer my approximately 21,000 CPO calendar items (all are To Dos) to iCal. This number includes approximately 5,000 items that I transferred from DateBook Pro to CPO a few years ago.
I downloaded the trial version of Chronos SOHO Organizer 6.5.4 and the accompanying converter. I converted my three CPO calendars and then imported them to SOHOO 6.5.4 successfully. Then, I exported each of them from SOHOO 6.5.4 as a ".ics" file. I imported each of these ".ics" files into iCal successfully. However, iCal does not display To Do items embedded in the calendar as does CPO and SOHOO. iCal segregates the To Do items into the To Do list window. Therefore, I wish to convert all of my 21,000 iCal calendar items from To Do items to Events, such that iCal will display them in the calendar display (day / week / month) on the original date that I assigned to each of them. During the conversion from To Do to Event, I wish to retain all text / remarks / notes.
Can anyone suggest an AppleScript that will perform this conversion? I have searched the web exhaustively without any success. Would anyone like to take a stab at writing an AppleScript that performs this conversion? I have read many postings on various forums that wish to do the same thing as me, eg. transfer data from either CPO or SOHOO to iCal but embed the To Do items in the Event calendar.

This is relatively straightforward, but you should be aware of a couple of issues:
A Task, "To Do" in iCal, has no duration and iCal does not seem to parse SOHOO's DUE parameter correctly so it cannot have a time or alarm either.
If you are prepared to have your tasks appear on their original days within iCal, this can be done, but you would either need to choose to have them appear as all day events or events of a fixed duration (e.g. none) and at a fixed time (e.g. 9am).
You could try this (which is the allday event version):
Make a new calendar in iCal called "Test"
Import your .ics file - choosing to add the events to the Test calendar.
Copy and paste the text between the lines (below) into Script Editor and press Run
If you're happy with the result, simply rename your Test calendar.
If not, or I have misunderstood what you want to do, post back.
Good luck, and _*make sure you have taken backups before starting*_.

The added events in iCal could be dragged freely to reminder before I used iCloud, but now it doesn't work. The situation of iCal is: 1) I can not drag any event from calander to reminder, 2) the 'paste' bottom in reminder is disabled, and 3) sortord in reminder does not work, i.e. I can not change order even if I select 'manual' .
Anyone met these situation before? Please help~

Can I restore events with titles from time machine?

I need to restore 2 events back into iphoto. I am using time machine as my backup. When I restore the event it imports the photos from that event back into iphoto but puts them into an "untitled event".
Is there a way to restore events including the title of the event or do I have to go by memory on what all the events were titled?
It would seem that there would be a way to do this. My concern is if I ever have to restore a large number of events from time machine it would be nearly impossible to remember what each event is titled.

No, you can't do it that way. There is another way but is rather involved and time consuming and will require the paid version of iPhoto Library Manager. Here's how:
1 - restore the entire library with the events you want and keep the current one.
2 - rename the restored library to iPhoto Library Restored.
3 - rename the original library back to just iPhoto Library.
4 - open your current library and then close.
5 - open iPLM and get both libraries loaded in the left hand pane.
6 - copy the event from the restored library to the operation library like this.
That will keep your keywords, titles and comments and Event title intact.
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto (iPhoto.Library for iPhoto 5 and earlier) database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger or later), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 6 and 7 libraries and Tiger and Leopard. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.
Note: There now an Automator backup application for iPhoto 5 that will work with Tiger or Leopard.

Can't receive events with a custom component

I am using the MDIPanel created by Christophe Coenraets in
the Sales Builder demo code in Flex 2. However, this custom
component (MDIPanel) doesn't seem to receive regular events other
than the custom events. The MDI Panel source code is included as
entails. Since it extends Panel, I assume that it would get all
regular events coming in but it is not. For example, I can't use
resource bundle to change the label text or I can't seem to get
dataprovider to work within a datagrid inside the MDIPanel. Any
ideas on what's happening here?

I'm curious to know if this is possible as well (or really the question should be, is there a non-hackish way to get a reference to the skin instance)?
When I've needed to do something like this, I've always just dispatched an event off a skin part from within my skin. IE.
this.contentGroup.dispatchEvent(...)
Then I would just listen for the event on the skin part.
This is a bit hackish, so it would be nice if someone could share a better solution. I've been meaning to look into it, just never have been able to justify the time looking for a better solution.

ICal ichanges the time of the events with another time zone when sync

I've changed my time zone in my iphone during a trip and when I came back, I reset my actual time zone, then, I syncronized it with my lap and they show different times for the same event.
Events added directly in my iphone stay the same in it, but appear in another time in my computer, even though I have verified both of them have the same time zone.
Events added directly on my lap stay the same in it but appear wrong in my iphone.

I'm looking for a software wich contains some nice animations and allows me to create different presentations. Does anybody has any suggestion? Final Cut maybe? Or Adobe After Effects? And is really truth that the student version of Final Cut doesn't allow you to upgrade? A lot of questions, but hopefully I'll get some help.

I tried adding my work emails (Company Domain from Sites and Stores) here but its not letting me do that.
I called Telstra they added from there end and is still not working.
They send me service books twice i received nothing and they said i might need to delete existing service books which i cant find on my handset.
The emails i am trying to add is currently working on my BOLD it is not on Z10. I cant even manually add them on the phone. Firstly it ask for email Id and then password and then says The email provider is not trustworthy you like to proceed i click yes to go ahead after 1 minute it goes Make sure your email address and password are entered correctly.
Could anyone please help or may have got the same problem.

Check the below article on how to configure email ID in Z10. It's not must requirement that you need enterprise server. However, you must have POP3 or IMAP (for personal) enabled email services. If you want to add enterprise email then it must support active sync.

HT200196 iCal reminders are clogging up my computers, iPads and iPhone. When I view the Calendar list in iCal, it seems it has added a new calendar every time an event is added. I have a calendar list that has grown to over 100. How do I remedy this?

My laptop, iPad, and iPhone are being clogged by repeated iCal alerts. Every time an event is added, it seems another Calendar is also added. When I view the Calendar list in iCal, there are over 100...and the number is growing. They can not be deleted with a simple "Select all" or "Delete All" and, when deleted individually, the list quickly grows to huge numbers again rapidly. How do I keep this from happening and eliminate the excessive number of calendars?

However I can see the event with the event title, the number of pictures and the pictures itselve as small thumbnails. BUt ounce I want to open the event to see the pictures in full screen the event title annouces 0 pictures and no pictures are visble anymore to mee. I have checked if the pictures are marked as hidden and this is not the case. What's going wrong. All the other events are visible in a normal way.
The albums with the same pictures into them are visible.

Make a temporary, duplicate copy of the library and try the two fixes below in order as needed:
Fix #1
1 - delete the iPhoto preference file, com.apple.iPhoto.plist, that resides in your Home/Library/Preferences folder.
2 - delete iPhoto's cache files that are located in your Home/Library/Caches/com.apple.iPhoto folder.
3 - reboot, launch iPhoto and try again.
NOTE: If you're moved your library from its default location in your Home/Pictures folder you will have to point iPhoto to its new location when you next open iPhoto by holding the the Option key. You'll also have to reset the iPhoto's various preferences.
Fix #2
Launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys depressed and follow the instructions to rebuild the library. Select options #1, #2 and #6.

How do I split a single event with many clips into multiples events, one event per date?

I archived the video from my AVCHD camera into a Final Cut video archive. Later I imported this into iMovie. All the clips from this archive (spanning several months) are dumped into a single event. If I recall, older versions of iMovie would import video into separate events for each day. Then I would go through and give each event a meaningful name (e.g., "Mary's Birthday").
This is what I would like. Is there a way to split this very long event into multiple events, one for each day that is present in the event?

Not automatically but with imovie 10 you can create new events with any name you like then move clips into them from other events (Just like FCP 10.1). See:

That is correct, you can mix mandatory and optional field entries for file import. However, if you don’t have OS type and version, the alerts matching would be impacted.

Hi,
Lion has changed the way reminders (todos as was) work. They now seem to need to be in a seperate calendar.
In iCal open the File menu and select New Reminder List... and select where to put it.
