Tune XSQL performance

Hi,
I wish to explore what would be the scope of tuning an XSQL query for performance apart from generic tuning of the SQL query embedded within the XSQL. I can think of two potential locations when seeking to improve XSQL performance: (a) Tuning the generic SQL query (b) Tweaking parameters in XSQLConfig.xml.
Any other thoughts on this ?
Thanks,
Rakesh.

  • How can I fine tune the performance of my IMS5.1 mailserver?

I installed the IMS5.1 on Solaris 8 with default parameters, without IDA. It is used as a mail relay. It seems to have/keep about 700 msgs in the tcp_local channel but none in the process channel. It uses the cpu very much, in my opinion too much (100% is no exception. It uses the swap file for only 30%. How can I tune the performance of my system. Don't laugh: the "server" is only a SUN Ultra 5 workstation.

I've been working with this MTA since '95. Unfortunately there is no easy answer. The number of msgs in queue is not an indication of performance, it can be, but it can also be that the hosts your system is trying to reach are not available. You can use tools like imsimta qtop to see top subjects or top domains. Poke around and see just why you have 700 msgs in your queues.
Channels like process or say conversion channel are internal while channnels like tcp_local deal with external systems. If you had mail backing up in the conversion channel then you'd have a good sign of local performance problems. Mail backing up in tcp_local is not necessarily a sign of performance problems on your end.
I don't see a problem with the software using all available CPU. What is wrong with that?
If you've made any changes to the configuration it could be that you have introduced something that is causing say a mapping process to loop and thus eat more CPU that would otherwise be normal.
What process is using all of this CPU? Knowing this would help to determine what part of the MTA might be using lots of CPU.

  • How to tune the performance of Oracle SQL/XML query?

I am running Oracle 9i and like to run the following Oracle SQL/XML query. It takes about 3+ hour and still not finish. If I get rid all the XML stuffs it only take minutes to run. Does anybody know how to what's the reason of this slow and how to tune it?

  • Tune datapump performance

    hello *
does anyone know how to speed up expdp process?
I can see it mainly loads the undelying operating system (in my case there's I/O starvation - vmstat shows idle waits while CPU users/system/idle are very low. It's testbed only but I am concerned in this area for production system, too.
    But can you suggest something?
What Oracle parameters can be tuned? What else?
Shared memory is not rather an issue here like in RMAN backups.

you can go through the steps in the documentation below steps are same for 10gR2

  • OT: How can we tune the search performance from the HTMLDB side?

This might be not an issue that can be solved by HTMLDB itself. However, I'd like to give a shot because our HTMLDB apps are 'killing' the server, according to our DBA. One app I made is querying a 50 million records table, so everytime the query is fairly slow. Is there any way to tune the performance? Our DBA suggests using other tools like Discoverer or Orable Form to do the work of HTMLDB.
    Thanks for the inputs.
    Luc

    not OT.
as noted, you need to determine which SQL statements are the culprit (various ways, your DBA should be very happy to help)
but if you are using wizards that include a search field, you may be falling victim to some very inefficient SQL generated by HTML-DB/Apex, for instance (created by the application wizard for an application based on a table, creating a page with a report and a form):
    select
    "ID",
    "OBJECT_OWNER",
    "OBJECT_TYPE",
    "OBJECT_NAME",
    "TAB_COMMENTS",
    "OBJECT_CREATED",
    "OBJECT_MODIFIED",
    "USAGE_NOTES",
    "OBSOLETE_FLAG"
    from "DEV_TAB_COMMENTS"
    where
    instr(upper("OBJECT_OWNER"),upper(nvl(:P1_REPORT_SEARCH,"OBJECT_OWNER"))) > 0 or
    instr(upper("OBJECT_TYPE"),upper(nvl(:P1_REPORT_SEARCH,"OBJECT_TYPE"))) > 0 or
    instr(upper("OBJECT_NAME"),upper(nvl(:P1_REPORT_SEARCH,"OBJECT_NAME"))) > 0 or
    instr(upper("TAB_COMMENTS"),upper(nvl(:P1_REPORT_SEARCH,"TAB_COMMENTS"))) > 0 or
    instr(upper("USAGE_NOTES"),upper(nvl(:P1_REPORT_SEARCH,"USAGE_NOTES"))) > 0 or
    instr(upper("OBSOLETE_FLAG"),upper(nvl(:P1_REPORT_SEARCH,"OBSOLETE_FLAG"))) > 0
which will do a full table scan no matter what search criteria you enter, and cannot be fixed on the database side -- sometimes SQL can be fixed with the creation of function-based-indexes( FBI), that won't work here.
if your pages have such SQL, it needs to be rewritten to take advantage of indexes (FBI or otherwise)

  • Performance issues in Proxy-XI-Jdbc scenario

    Hello,
I have developed a proxy to JDBC synchronous scenario.
    My scenario works like this.
*i run an abap program which calls a client proxy,
the proxy fetches the data from database table and returns the data in the ABAP program.(select query)
there are serious performance issues when we are running the report
it is taking around 2-5 minutes and at times multiple users are logged in , it takes around 5-20 minutes.
it seems that most of the time is consumed in the data fetching.
please help me to find some solution so that we can fine tune the performance on the PI side.
Are there any options on JDBC CC which can help  us in making the queries faster
    thanks
    kannu.

    Kanu16 ,
Issue seems to be at r/3 end..
    1. Make sur ethat report program is using select query in proper fashion .
    2. avoid using nested loops.
    3.  Hope not much validations are being done on selected data .
Abaper can help you optimizing this .
By debugging you can find out the exact reason behind.

Now my problem is, to get this object approved I need to submit the execution statistics to client.I checked both ST05 and SE30. I heard of a Tcode where we can execute a select statement and note its time, then modify and find its improved Performance. Can anybody suggest me on this.
    Thanks,
    Rajani.

    Hi,
This is documentation regarding performance analysis. Hope this will be useful
It is a general practice to use           Select  *  from <database>…     This statement populates all the values of the structure in the database.
    The effect is many fold:-
    •     It increases the time to retrieve data from database
    •     There is large amount of unused data in memory
    •     It increases the processing time from work area or internal tables
It is always a good practice to retrieve only the required fields. Always use the syntax      Select f1  f2  …  fn  from <database>…
e.g.     Do not use the following statement:-
Data: i_mara like mara occurs 0 with header line.
Data: i_marc like marc occurs 0 with header line.
         Select * from mara
              Into table i_mara
              Where matnr in s_matnr.
         Select * from marc
              Into table i_marc
              For all entries in i_mara
              Where matnr eq i_mara-matnr.
         Instead use the following statement:-
Data: begin of i_mara occurs 0,
                                            Matnr like mara-matnr,
                                                  End of i_mara.
Data: begin of i_marc occurs 0,
              Matnr like marc-matnr,
                                            Werks like marc-werks,
                                                 End of i_marc.
         Select matnr from mara
              Into table i_mara
              Where matnr in s_matnr.

  • Webi Server Performance Tuning

We have Webi Server in a clustered environment.
Our environment doesn't have much reports for Webi server to handle..
But, webi server goes down often and i have to restart the physical server to get webi running.
Is there a way to tune webi performance or find the root cause where the problem is ?

    Yes, there are.
In CMC got o servers and view properties for Webi report server, Admin guide will have details on those parameters and possible tunigs...
Also, applying latest Service Packs and Fix PAcks helps a lot.
    Improving report design helps tremendously.
To troubleshoot issues - you need to enable tracing, review log files.

  • Bad performance when deleting report column in webi(with "Design – Structure only")

    Hi all,
One of our customer has recently upgraded from BO XI to BO4.1. In the new BO 4.1, they encountered a bad performance issue when they were deleting a column in Webi(using "Design – Structure only" mode).
With “Design – Structure only" mode,  it took webi about 10 seconds to complete after the customer right-clicked a report column and clicked the "delete".  The customer said that they only need to wait for less than 1 second when they did the same in BO XI old version.
The new BO version used is 4.1SP02, installed in Windows Server 2008 R2. (Server with 32 core CPU, 32G memory)
This bad performance happened in both Webi web and Rich Client. (in Webi Rich Client, the performance is a little bit better. The 'delete column' action takes about 8 seconds to complete).
Do anyone know how to tune this performance in webi?  Thank you.
Besides, it seems that each time we are making change in the webi report structure in IE or Rich Client, webi need to interact with Server site to upload the changes. Is there any option to change this behavior?  Say, do not upload change to Server for when 'deleting report column', only trigger the upload after a set of actions(e.g. trigger when click the "Save" button).
    Thank you.
    Regards,
    Eton.

    Hi all,
Could anyone help me on this?  Thanks!
What customer concerns now is that when they did the same 'column editing' action in BO XI R2 for the same report, they did not need to wait.  And they need to wait for at least 7-8 second in the BO 4.1SP02 environment for this action to complete.(data already purged, in structure-only mode)
One more information about the webi report being editing is: there are many sheets in the report(about 6~10 sheets in one report). Customer don't want to separate these sheet into different reports  as it will increase the effort of their end users to locate similar report sheets.

    Eton.

  • Performance Monitoring in CRM

    Hi All,
I need your help to know how to tune performance in CRM 7.0. I need to tune the performance of Web UI client & get the response time of transactions executed in CRM UI,
    Please give your suggestions,
    Thanks & Regards,
    Sandipan

    Hello,
If you want to do performance analysis on the WebUI in CRM 7.0 (does not work on earlier versions) just hit the keys CTRLSHIFTF7 in any WebUI window. In the current window a frame will appear in the upper right corner indicating the backend processing time, frontend processing time and so on.
Hope this is what you're looking for.
    Kind regards,

  • Performance Tuning for BAM 11G

    Hi All
Can anyone guide me for any documents or any tips realted to performance tuning for BAM 11G on on Linux

It would help to know if you have any specific issue. There are number of tweaks all they way from DB to Browser.
    Few key things to follow:
    1. Make sure you create index on DO. If there are too much old data in the DO and not useful then periodically delete it. Similar to relational database indexes, defining indexes in Oracle BAM creates and maintains an ordered list of data object elements for fast retrieval.
    2. Ensure that IE setup to do automatic caching. This will help with reducing server round trips.
    3. Tune DB performance. This would typically require DBA. Identify the SQL statements most likely to be causing the waits by looking at
the drilldown Top SQL Statements Ordered by Wait Time. Use SQL Analyze, EXPLAIN PLAN, or the tkprof utility to tune the queries that were identified.
Check the Dataobject tables involved in the query for missing indexes.
    4. Use batching (this is on by default for most cases)
    5. Fast network
    6. Use profilers to look at machine load/cpu usage and distribute components on different boxes if needed.
    7. Use better server AND client hardware. BAM dashboard are heavy users of ajax/javascript logic on the client
