Webi Server Performance Tuning

We have Webi Server in a clustered environment.
Our environment doesn't have much reports for Webi server to handle..
But, webi server goes down often and i have to restart the physical server to get webi running.
Is there a way to tune webi performance or find the root cause where the problem is ?

Yes, there are.
In CMC got o servers and view properties for Webi report server, Admin guide will have details on those parameters and possible tunigs...
Also, applying latest Service Packs and Fix PAcks helps a lot.
Improving report design helps tremendously.
To troubleshoot issues - you need to enable tracing, review log files.

  • SAP Web services performance tuning in terms of concurrent users?

    Hello,
    we in our organisation are planning to build a web portal which can connect to our sap environment and perform various tasks.
    Hence to find out the performance capabilities we exposed some web services from SAP end and did a load test on the same.
    The test results were not promising, with only 25 concurrent users the response time was as high as 12 seconds.
    Now we need to fine tune the SAP web service module to get the max performance.
    Can anybody point us in the right direction?

  • App. Server performance Tuning issue

    Hi.
    Platform:
    iAS : Oracle Application server Version 10.1.2.0.2
    Installation Type : Forms and Reports Services
    OS : Windows server 2003 SP2
    DB server : Oracle 10g ver.10.2.0.4.0 win.server 2003
    programs developed with developer suite 10g.
    Problem:
    When the user login screen pop up in internet browser and user type the user id and password then click enter the iAS is taking between 12 to 15 seconds to connect to db, once is connected the application works fine but ..
    Is there any way to speed up the first time connection?
    I will appreciate whatever help.
    Thanks in advance

    Check the order of connection mechanisms in your SQLNET.ORA file. If LDAP is first in the list, the login process will look for OID and if it finds one running, will look for your user there. If there is no OID running, it may wait for a timeout before moving on to the next listed connection mechanism. In general, if you're not using OID to authenticate to your database, you should make sure it's not first in the list in SQLNET.ORA.

  • Essbase 7.1 server performance tuning

    HI Friends,
    I have a cube with nine dimensions,with block storage.
    The lowest level in time dimension is Month.
    When I load this cube with 3 yrs of data, it is taking taking 20hrs to rollup.
    The dataload takes 2hrs.
    There are no complex formulas in this cube, it is a simple rollup.
    I have index cache at 500mb and Datacache at 700 mb.
    I have only 2cpus on this box.
    when the cube calculate the size of the cube is 180GB
    Measures     Dense          13
    Time     Dense          33
    Gender     Dense          5
    Ethnicity     Sparse          10
    EmplClass     Sparse          26
    Workgrp     Sparse          74
    RefSource     Sparse          23
    JobGrp     Sparse          89
    Department     Sparse     20444
    Please suggest me the right congigaration to make the calculation faster.
    I would appreciate any ones help.

    I would begin by removing any current dynamically calculated members in the sparse dimensions and make the rollups for Ethnicity and EmplClass all Dynamically Calculated. Then I would assume the following base calc (based on a "calc all", the actual calc would depend on any deviation from that):
    SET MSG SUMMARY;
    SET NOTICE LOW;
    SET CACHE HIGH;
    SET UPDATECALC OFF;
    SET CLEARUPDATESTATUS OFF;
    SET AGGMISSG ON;
    // Optional: CLEARBLOCK UPPER;
    CALC DIM( Measures, Time, Gender, Workgrp, RefSource, JobGrp, Department);If (for instance) you fix on time, the fix would require removing the Time dimension from the calc dim list.
    I would also ensure you are using buffered I/O and have a decent allocation of memory to the calc cashe (SET CLALCCACHEHIGH setting in the Essbase.cfg file).
    With this as a baseline, I would then try other combinations. The problem is that these combinations would require knowing the number of calculated members in each dimension (non-leaf, aggregated, or formula based members). The use of shared members in alternate hierarchies also has an impact on what I would recommend, as well.
    However, the baseline suggested above is the most likely cost/benefit leader if the cube is a straightforward rollup with no "complications" in the Ethnicity or EmplClass dimensions.

  • Web Server Tuning

    Hi there,
    Actually I have a full iPlanet solution up running on Solaris 8 environment, which contains:
    -     iPlanet Application Server 6.5
    -     iPlanet Directory Server 4.1
    -     iPlanet Web Server 4.1
    -     iPlanet Integration Server (EAI) 2.6
    -     iPlanet Portal Server 3.0
    And I want to monitor the Web Server performance and to tune the required parameters.
    So that, firstly I want to know what is the services that I should monitor to make sure that the Web Server is up and running and performing well.
    And then, I want to know if there is any tool which can help me evaluate the Web Server performance and find out the proper tuning parameter in case if it is needed.
    Many Thanks

    Guys,
    I am good in SAP J2EE Engine Performance Tuning. I would like to learn SAP ABAP Based Server Performance tuning end to end. Please recommend me some links/docs to start with the performance tuning for different OS like HP-UX/AIX & for Databases : Oracle/MaxDB etc.
    Thank you in advance.
    Cheers, Karthick

    Hi Karthick, for example for SAP with Oracle on AIX -->
    white paper -->
    http://www-03.ibm.com/support/techdocs/atsmastr.nsf/WebIndex/WP100377
    But SAP with Oracle tuning are usually not very much dependent on the platform, of course there are differences but they are not much.
    Personally, I bought the SAP Performance Optimization Guide -->
    http://www.sap-press.com/products/SAP-Performance-Optimization-Guide-(5th-Edition).html?
    and SAP Database Administration with Oracle
    http://www.sap-press.com/products/SAP-Database-Administration-with-Oracle.html
    Nice books. Regards.

  • Performance Tuning of webi report BO4.0

    Hi ,
    I have report which has two data providers in 1st Data Provider i have 10 objects and in 2nd Data provider i have 3 objects the issue is performance report is taking 6 minutes to run.
    Please help me out how we can increase the performance at Query Level.
    Thanks
    Siva

    Hi
    There are various levels to which you have to check to improve the performance of reports could be at connection levels, query, database etc.
    some of them you can try
    1. check array fetch size in relational connection parameters, deactivating array fetch size can increase the efficiency of retrieving your data, but slows server performance.
    2. Setting options for the default list of values in business layer and data foundation layer
    Automatic refresh - If this is selected, the list of values is automatically refreshed each time the
    list is called. This can have an effect on performance each time the list of values is refreshed. You should disable this option if the list of values returns a large number of values.
    3. set query stripping (Optimize query with Query Stripping in Web Intelligence - Business Intelligence (BusinessObjects) - SCN Wiki)
    4. also check Performance Tuning Methods in BO

  • Need clear steps for doing performance tuning on SQL Server 2008 R2 (DB Engine, Reporting Services and Integration Services)

    We have to inverstigate about a reporting solution where things are getting slow (may be material, database design, network matters).
    I have red a lot in MSDN and some books about performance tuning on SQL Server 2008 R2 (or other) but frankly, I feel a little lost in all that stuff
    I'am looking for practical steps in order to do the tuning. Someone had like a recipe for that : a success story...
    My (brain storm) Methodology should follow these steps:
     Resource bottlenecks: CPU, memory, and I/O bottlenecks
     tempdb bottlenecks
     A slow-running user query : Missing indexes, statistics,...
     Use performance counters : there are many, can one give us the list of the most important
    how to do fine tuning about SQL Server configuration
    SSRS, SSIS configuration ?
    And do the recommandations.
    Thanks

    Hello,
    There is no clear defined step which can be categorized as step by step to performance tuning.Your first goal is to find out cause or drill down to factor causing slowness of SQL server it can be poorly written query ,missing indexes,outdated stats.RAM crunch
    CPU crunch so on and so forth.
    I generally refer to below doc for SQL server tuning
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dd672789(v=sql.100).aspx

  • Performance of WLS as a web server

              Hi,
              I post this on the clustering list since I'm interested in finding out the
              likelyhood of people using WLS as a web server (as well as servlet engine/EJB
              container).
              What do you prefer: WLS or Apache/IIS/NES with the plug-in?
              Why?
              Do you prefer using a front-end cluster that serves static content and load
              balances dynamic requests to a back-end cluster of WLS instances?
              Do you prefer using WLS (Express) on the front-end cluster or Apache/IIS/NES?
              If using a front-end cluster, do you use DNS RR or an external HW load balancer?
              What load balancer do you use if a cluster of WLS instances serves both static
              and dynamic content? (With possibly a separate back-end cluster for EJBs.)
              The performance of WLS as a web-server may cause some people to prefer a front-
              end Apache/IIS/NES cluster, is that right?
              Regards,
              Frank Olsen
              Stonesoft

    The main reason that 5.1 is 25% slower than NES or Apache on serving static html
    is that NES/Apache do a lot of native I/O and caching ( their code base is C/C++).
    6.1 fixed that problem, BEA use native I/O to retrieve static html and img files,
    and caching them in memory. Benchmark data shows that they are in par with NES/Apache's
    performance. It's pretty safe for you to use 6.1 to host your static contents
    and use it as web container at the same time.
    My 2 cents.

    Hi,

    unsure if need to replace it with another web server (e.g. Apache or

    So the question is: do you have any experience regarding the

  • Poor Performance of Sun One Web Server 6.0 SP6

    We are running on an E450 with 2GB of memory, Solaris 8 2/02 with Recommended and Security Patch Cluster from 31 Jul 03, Sun One Web Server 6.0 SP6, Macromedia ColdFusion 5, JDK 1.4.1_02. We are seeing intermittent (three or four times a day) performance problems, extremely poor response time.
    A vanilla, test iPlanet web server was put up on port 2443 with https turned on and off. Repeated control tests on file operations (copy link as) showed similar results as those described in High Impact above. Changes to add KeepAlive parameters (in magnus.conf) showed no noticeable improvement.
    Tests were conducted -- on the test server -- accessing the same file from two clients, one a thin client (TC), the other a Unix workstation (UW).
    Results:
    1) Sometimes process TC was started first and continued normally while process UW hung up; when this happened, only one httpd process was building cpu time;
    2) Sometimes process UW was started first and continued normally while process TC hung up; when this happened, only one httpd process was building cpu time;
    3) Sometimes both process TC and process UW continued normally regardless of which was started first; when this happened, two different httpd processes were building cpu time together;
    Speculation on Process Management - speculation is that, in the case of the 3rd bullet above, iPlanet assigned different httpd processes to the two requests. In the case of the first two bullets, however, the belief is that iPlanet actually assigned the second request to the same process it had previously assigned the first request. In this case, the second request was left to wait. It appears that most of the work done by httpd children is performed by only two or three children, even when there are 10 available.
    Questions;
    Why are the other httpd children are not more fully utilized?
    What about changing the number of Acceptor Threads?
    Could turning on Native Polling help (UseNativePoll in magnus.conf)?
    Any other thoughts about what is going on or how to fix the issue?
    Thanks for any assistance

    Because the security context is set as a process context, the NSAPI thread locks the process prior to setting the security context. The older NASPI plugin that we are using is not reentrant, it will not work with the mulitthreading model. Under multithreading each thread would have access to the security context of each thread.

  • Performance tuning content server

    Hi,
    I would like to profile my UCM based application. I am using Oracle content server 10g version and has custom java components for my business functionality. I would like to profile this application to identify performance bottlenecks. Is there any profiling tool in market that would get plugged /integrated with oracle content server (UCM 10g)?
    What are the general tips for performance tuning custom components?
    Thanks in advance
    Siva

  • Performance Tuning Guidelines for Windows Server 2008 R2 mistake?

    Hi all,
    I'm reading the "Performance Tuning Guidelines for Windows Server 2008 R2" and I think there is same kind of error. At page 53 there is a sub chapter "I/O Priorities" that explain how to handle I/O priorities.
    In the guide it is said that in the registry I have to have a key:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\DeviceClasses\{Device GUID}\DeviceParameters\Classpnp\
    Where {Device GUID} I think it is the value I get in device manager under one of my disks -> properties -> details -> "Device Class GUID"
    the trouble is that under the key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\DeviceClasses\ I've no subkey matching my disk's device class guid! Maybe I'm drunk but I've checked every sub key under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\DeviceClasses\
    but neither of them as a subkey named "DeviceParameter"!!
    So am I wrong?

    Hi Andrea,
    To find the "DeviceParameter", please try to follow the steps below:
    1.Find this registry key and note the DeviceInstance value:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\DeviceClasses\
    2.Find the device instance registry key under "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Enum" which contains information about the devices on the system and get the device interface GUID:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Enum\USB\<hardware id>\<instance id>\Device Parameters
    I hope this helps.
