Tunning Custom View Definition

HI All,
I have a custom view which i have to tune. That view itself is built over two other
views.
Since I am new to tunning, can anyone please tell me how to actually start for tunning ? For what all factors I should look for..?
I tried Explain Plan of Toad to recognize a view query which is having higher cost..
But dont know whether only this factor is enough to decide which Query I need to tune...
Please help
Thanks In Advance..

You could also try to gather the real execution data with SQL trace and TKPROF as recommended in following thread:
When your query takes too long ...
and compare it with the explain plan.
In the explain plan, you should try to identify the steps that are likely the longer steps because, for example, they are doing a full table scan on a large table.
It can be easier to work on TKPROF output because it will display physical and logical reads for each query step (EXPLAIN PLAN doesn't do this).
If you post your explain plan and/or TKPROF output, please post also:
- full Oracle version
- number of rows of all involved tables
- description of indexes on all involved tables
- how you compute statistics on database objects involved in the query
(10g default, customized DBMS_STATS script, ANALYZE statements).

  • Help with a Custom JSP - Select Box (entry view definition).

    I'm in no way an expert in HTML so please bear with me. We have quite a large list of Job Titles that we use on multiple forms and I wanted to use a custom jsp so I only have to update our title list once if we add/remove titles at our organization. I created a simple select box with all our titles and put them on the Vibe server under the custom jsp folder. The select box shows up on the entry form definition no problem... I just don't know how to make it show up on the entry view definition. The code is obviously pretty basic:
    <html>
    <select name ="Title">
    <option value ="Title1">Title1</option>
    <option value ="Title2">Title2</option>
    <option value ="Title3">Title3</option>
    <option value="Title4">Title4</option>
    </select>
    </html>
    What do I need to do in order for it to show up on the entry view definition side of things? Could anyone with html and/or Vibe knowledge please chime in? I'd really appreciate it.

    Try the following custom JSP, it works fine in my environment.
    Construction is a s I said before: while in edit mode (add or modify) it appears as Select Box, otherwise gives the value only.

  • Portal: custom i-view definition (transaction) how to hide command box

    Dear Sirs,
    we are trying to define a transaction i-view (displaying a SRM transaction)
    in portal but hiding the command box.
    The i-view has been defined under portal content \..\iview\GUI\
    We have tested some values in "Parameters Forwarded to Transaction" in I-VIEW definition,
    like...
    noheaderOkCode = 1
    WEBGUI_SIMPLE_TOOLBAR  = hide, no etc..
    listed in other threads
    but whitout any effect.
    Is this a possible feature and what are the correct values ?
    From SRM side we have tested the transaction in SE93 in both modes, EWT and normal.

    Sorry but we have any result with these values
    ~NOHEADEROKCODE = 1 or
    ~WEBGUI_SIMPLE_TOOLBAR = 0
    In the "Parameter forwarded to transaction" in the iview definition from portal.
    The command box appears in any case.
    Whe should remove also the "menu" button.

  • Custom view in onet.xml?

    I'd like to create a custom view in my custom site definition, but I'd like to avoid unnecessary complexity. An extra feature that completely redefines an oob list in order to change a single default value to be used only once strikes me as, to not use
    the phrase "extremely retarded", kind of silly. I'd much rather keep everything, I guess, still scattered all over the place, but slightly less so. Is it at all possible to define a custom view in onet.xml? The goal is to have a task
    list without a timeline on the default page.

    1. Save Site As Template can be basis for your solution, and in no means it should be left as-is. It should be cleaned up, IMO, anytime you import it to VS and create your own solution. Yes, 130 files and few thousand of XML is really too much.
    2. Timeline is displayed as separate web part in custom sites (at least we used it that way). You can turn it of by simply using appropriate view in your ListViewWebPart, as the timeline is in fact "ProjectSummaryWebPart". Of course, you need to define that
    view first in schema.xml for your list.

  • How to initialize org in a view definition?

    Hi,
    I am creating a custom view which uses Oracle standard function in the condition of the view definition. The function requires org intialization to provide the correct data. The view needs to be accessed in other DB instance via DB link.
    So how should the org be initialized so that the view returns the correct data when accessed from the remote data base using the DB link?
    Thanks!
    Darshini

    Hi Darshini,
    ok, then the question is: where is your data, in which instance?
    I see two options:
    1) Your report runs on the primevera DB but your data resides in the APPS DB and you have a DB link between the two instances. Assuming the DB link is "PRIM_TO_EBS" you could create the view on the primevera instance like this:
    select po_header_id
    from po_distributions_all@PRIM_TO_EBS pod
    where (apps.po_intg_document_funds_grp.get_active_encumbrance_func@PRIM_TO_EBS
    ('PO',
    pod.po_distribution_id
    ) = 0 I do not really know what the procedure/function fnd_client_info.set_org_context() does, but would be curious to know if your view above returns data if you do a:
    ... fnd_client_info.set_org_context pkg@PRIM_TO_EBS(...) upfront?!
    But I guess this will create some session variable that will probably get lost when you finish the function and go to the View. But you can give it a try.
    2) second approach that I see:
    Copy the data to the reporting instance via some scheduled jobs or so. This way you could copy the data after this operating unit / org id was initialized. The pure out put of the data without the APPS security model anymore.
    Another thing: You can check out in the discoverer forum, there are some guys that know much more about the APPS security model and how to get reports working with this.
    Another idea: Do you really need this function apps.po_intg_document_funds_grp.get_active_encumbrance_func() ? Maybe you can design your report based on just tables? We have reports on Purchasing data as well, and we did not use any built-in apps functions like this to get what we need.
    regards,
    David.

  • How to stop Jdeveloper to overwrite my customized view object impl

    Hi,
    Does anyone know how to stop Jdeveloper to overwrite my view object impl which extends from some customized view object impl ?
    Thank you.

    "modifying something on the view object".
    Do you mean, modifying the ViewObject from the Applications Navigator using the Edit Mode of JDeveloper on that ViewObject?
    (or)
    Directly modifying the Extended ViewObject Implementation class file in System Navigator?
    If you edit your ViewObject class file and if you set the ViewObject to extend it from a Customized View Object Impl, unfortunately the model project of Jdev do not recognize it, becoz certain changes are required in xml (viewobject's definition file).
    So, better extend the class from the customized impl in Edit mode of that ViewObject.

  • Is there any way to create custom views, like in Thunderbird & Evolution?

    Hi Folks,
    I have recently switched to Mac. Before this I was using Linux. For mail I used Thunderbird (TB) for many years, and then eventually switched to Evolution Mail (EM) for its smoother integration into Linux.
    On both TB and EM I revolved my work flow around custom folder views. As new email came in I would label it (on EM, or tag it on TB). I have numerous inboxes (email accounts) so I would generally be starting out in a smart folder that displays all mail in each inbox. I would most of the time view that smart folder with a Custom View filter in place. The filter would simply display ONLY mail with NO tags/labels.
    Once my filter inbox showed NO messages it meant I had labeled everything. I would them use other smart folders to display mail with certain labels AND NO "Completed" label. That way I could go to my "Reply ASAP" folder and see what needed my immediate attention. Each email I replied to I would then add the label COMPLETED and it would vanish from my view.
    I explain the above in case someone has specific suggestions on how to achieve a similar workflow on Mail.
    In short, what I am wondering is this:
    - Is there a built in way to filter a folder on the spot (with a drop down list of predefined and custom Views) --- I have looked and so far did not find this feature
    - Is there a way to do this with a script or add-on? I have looked at many and not found a suitable one yet.
    I am appealing to the knowledge of those with more experience in Mail. It is new to me.
    I am currently using TB on my Mac because it gives me the above feature. BUT it does not have the same degree of integration with the OS and other Mac specific apps that Mail has. Thus I am keen to stick with Mail.
    With thanks,
    Jonathan

    In addition to above:
    I have installed a trial of Mailtags. It certainly improves the tagging capability of Mail.
    I have also looked at the Smart Mailboxes and Smart Mailbox Folders.
    As far as I can tell, however, there is no option to set up a smart mailbox that ONLY shows message with NO LABEL or NO MAILTAG (as the case may be). I can display messages with particular TAGS but not NO tags.
    Is there any way to add more options to the Smart Mailbox filter system?
    Cheers,
    Jonathan

  • Error while adding a attribute to the the Custom view through a wizard

    Hi ,
    I have created a new custom view with value node through wizard  succesfully.
    Now I want to add a new attribute to that node.I am trying to do that by a wizard.
    But i am getting the follwing error " Error during analysis of Source Code" although i have
    commented or removed my all custom code from that view.
    I tried adding the new aattributes in the metthods "IF_BSP_MODEL~INIT " and
    "GET_TABLE_LINE_SAMPLE " manually but that also does not worked.
    Plz help me with this asap.
    Regards,
    Sharad

    Hi Sharad,
                          I hope all your classes are active. In case you want to add a new attribute there are two steps.
    1.Right click on context node and create attribute, it opens a wizard and continue. This will add the field in the context node and generate the getter-setter methods.
    2. In the above two method whcih you mentioned add the new field in the structure of value node. And then create your own getter-setter methods. and activate it. After this you will be able to see the attribute added in the context node.
    By using any of the two approaches you will be able to see teh new field in the configuration.
    Hope this helps.
    Regards,
    Ruby.

  • How to create a customized view in SCOM monitoring to view alerts

    Regards,

    Hi Srini,
    Based on the above requirement, You want to create a Dashboard view with Specific alerts but not all right ?
    Based on my understanding on your above requirement i created one in my SCOM. Please let me know if this is what you really wanted ?
    For the below you really need to know what are those alerts, ONLY those alerts you want to be displayed in the dashboard.
    Then Go to the Monitoring tab in SCOM and then Right click Active alerts and select New -> Select New Alert view
    When you select new alert view you will need to specify the Resolution state and the Specific alerts you want.
    In the below example i have selected "MSExchange Active sync Alert" as a example. So my goal is here such that only the alerts i have specified from my selection ( "MSExchange Active sync Alert") if it appears in New state will appear
    in this view not all other alerts.
    So for that i just used the below options:
    Resolution state & Alert name
    Resolution state = New
    Alert name = %MSExchange XXXXXXXX%
    Also as of i see there was no option for entering multiple alert names. But i think there is and i am still trying as it accepts some SQL Wild cards. So if any one has an idea what is the wild card what is to be used to mention multiple names in that Name
    view please let me know.

    public class MyViewController : OverviewControllerBase { public MyViewController() : base() { } public override void EndInit() { base.EndInit(); this.Content = new Label() { Content = "My Content" }; } }
    public class MyViewDescription : IConsoleView2

    override protected Type TypeOfView { get { return typeof(Overview); } } public override bool TryConfigure(ref XmlElement persistedConfigurationData) { return false; }

    Hi Alfonso,
    I did eventually release the console extension (see screen shot at the bottom of the page
    here).
    It has been a while since I worked on this code but as I remember, once I got the references straightened out (see this thread), a lot of the confusion I had was just understanding that some of the programming that had to be done was in WPF (not WinForm).
     The sample code from Microsoft does work though.
    I never was able to figure out how to tie the "tree node menu item" functionality into the Ribbon (at the top of the SCCM console) so that is still on my TODO list.
    So, my advice to you is to start with the Microsoft example code (which I did) from the SCCM SDK and if you get compile time errors, look first for the SCCM assembly references (Microsoft.[ConfigurationManagement, ConfigurationManagement.ManagementProvider,
    EnterpriseManagement.UI.Foundation, EnterpriseManagement.UI.WpfViews) and then at the WPF assembly references (PresentationCore, PresentationFramework) for missing class references.
    I hope this information can help you.  Good luck sir!
