Turning off jar cache causes classnotfound with signed jar files

Hi,
I have a problem with applet signed jars when the java cache is turned off.
With the cache turned off, I get a class not found for the first class it attempts to use from the signed jar file from an applet.
If I turn the jar caching on, all works perfectly with no other changes.
Anyone have any ideas? This is java 6u16.
Thanks

    This was working in beta 45

    Can you post an example project that demonstrates the problem? There were changes to the ant tasks and netbeans support around B45 that could cause problems depending on which version of the SDK and NetBeans you have. Similarly, if you wrote ant scripts prior to B44 and then use them with a later build you could have problems. And of course, if you're producing the Jar file and deployment artifacts without using the provided ant tasks (for example, using the normal ant jar task) you'll have problems.
    I've verified that this works as expected in the FX 2.0 GA release using ant from the command line, and with the NetBeans 7.1 beta release using the FX 2.0 GA release.

  • Turn off library caching for a Mail client on the Mac?

    Hi..is it possible to turn off library caching for a Mail client on the Mac? At work I have outlook 2007. I setup Mail client to sync Mail,contacts and calendar. The cache is stored in the library hidden folders. Is it possible to permanently turn off caching?

    I am getting more and more bewildered.  I just looked at google mails settings to see if they do something different from the isp I use and there they say the following: if the sent messages aren't stored on the server, then where are they stored? What happens to them if I set my preferences this way?  I want to wail and tear my hair out. I feel so very stupid.

  • Turning off thumbnail caching doesn't always work

    The standard solution for stopping the creation of thumb nail files doesn't always work. This assumes that since you don't display thumbnails you don't create thumb nails. Not true. If you try to move a JPG created by Windows Media Player as message is
    displayed. This message asks you if you really want to move a system file. The message displays a thumbnail. So instantly a THUMBS.DB file is created. Now the whole purpose of the exercise was to move stuff out of the folder, so that after a bit of fiddling
    you could reorganise & delete the folder. Now you can't delete the folder, unless you mess around and do it later. There is obviously a (non intuitive) work around. But it would be better if Microsoft allowed you to force the delete.

    Hi,
    As far as I know there is no official way to turn off thumbnail caching. The only option in Group Policy is Turn off taskbar thumbnails.
    Local Computer Policy\User Configuration\Administrative Templates\Start Menu and Taskbar\Turn off taskbar thumbnails
    Do you encounter any difficult position that must disable thumbnail caching?

    You sould be able to sync both ways.  Check your default calendar on your phone by going to Settings>Mail,Contacts,Calendars>scroll down to the calendars section to Default Calendar.  Check to be sure you have selected your mac calendar as your default (and not, for example, On My iPhone).  Then enter a new event on your phone and sync to confirm that it appears on your mac.

  • Setting high-units to zero to turn off the cache

    Hi,
    I'm looking for an easy way to turn off a cache. If I set high-units to zero does that effectively turn off the cache without side effects?
    Thanks,
    pat

    We have a feature request (COH-599) to do just this, and the solution is tentatively scheduled for the 3.2 release. Here is the description:
    "[Client] wants to be able to make a simple config change to see how the app would behave without any cache (i.e. zero-capacity cache)."
    Does that sound like what you are looking for?

  • Is CPA Cache refresh linked with  ftp or file pooling process in XI?

    Hi,
    I have a file to file scenario using Transport protocol as FTP in XI 3.0 SP 15.
    When we try to sends some file using ftp protocol where we are using
    FTP  connection parameters
    Server                          = <CORRECT IP>,
    Port                               =  21 ,
    User name                <CORRECT NAME>,
    Password                  <PASSWORD> ,
    Data Connection           = Active
    Connection Seq          = None
    Connection Mode          = Permanently
    Transfer Mode            =   Text
    Processing Parameters
    Quality of Service    = Exactly Once
    Pooling Interval        = 1 sec
    Processing Mode    = delete
    File Type                   = Text
    File encoding           = utf-8
    The problem we are facing like some time the ftp is not working even the file is present in the location for pick up. If few files are stacked up to be collected then when we are using CPA Cache refresh in Full mode manually then it fetches all the files from the location but the problem is that ,we have a time constraint for this process to be completed in just 60 seconds if we are not able to pick up a  file in 60 Secs then the file will be treated as invalid.
    So I just want to know how Manual CPA CACHE refresh in full mode generally solve the problem.
    Next if more files will be stacked up then cache refresh also failed to solve the problem and more cache refresh result in NOT pooling any other files in XI including the above discussed flow.
    So,in anyway Cache refresh linked with ftp or file pooling process in XI?
    Please assist me in correctly understating the whole problem and what solution could be put to solve this.
    Thanks,
    Satya

    Hi Suraj,
      If you see my query i have mentioned that the pooling interval is 1 Second.
    If we are not able to pick the file with in 60 Secs as this is a  real time scenario so the file will be treated as a invalid file.
    Moreover this problem is happening some time.
    I have also checked the component monitoring it is saying everything is ok as because we are receiving the file with out any error and the file transfer is also success.The only problem is that it is not collecting the files from the given location.
    Hope i make you understnad the problem .If not please revert back i will try to explain once again.
    Thanks,

  • Problems with signed JAR files in JWS/JRE6 environment.

    Hello All,
    I'm encountering a problem running our desktop application as a Java Web Start deployment in a JRE 6 environment. There were never any problems when running the same application as a JWS deployment in JRE 1.4, or 5, environments. There are also currently no problems in a JRE 6 environment when running the application as a standard desktop application.
    The problem which I am having has nothing to do with launching the application. But for good measure, I verified the JNLP file with JaNeLA. A couple things we out of order, which I addressed to make JaNeLA happy, but my problem still persists. Here is my JNLP file (anonymized to protect the innocent):

    The classes of our desktop product are contained within the 'acmedesktop' and 'acmeapi' packages. It requires access to the hard drive of the workstation, and therefore, all jar files included with the application are signed using the following ANT task when compiled:
    <signjar keystore="resources/codesigning/keystore.pfx" storetype="pkcs12" storepass="myPassword" alias="myAlias">
         <fileset dir="${jws_dist}/app" includes="*.jar"/>
         <fileset dir="${jws_dist}/app/lib" includes="*.jar" excludes="jhall__V${dt_version}.jar"/>
    </signjar>-----
    Therefore, all classes, within all jar files, are signed with the same certificate (with the exception of the JavaHelp libraries, which are already signed by Sun - but the class in question attempting to be loaded here is not contained within the JavaHelp jar file anyway). So, the point being, that the exception message stating that the "signer information of the acmeapi.communication.CDocImpl class doesn't match the signer information of other classes in the same package", is simply not correct. All classes within that jar file were signed using the same certificate.
    I downloaded the JRE 6 source from dev.java.net and picked through this issue with a debugger. The ClassLoader.checkCerts() method compares the certificate used to sign the current class which is attempting to be loaded, with the certificates which signed all other previously loaded classes within the same package. If they don't match, the exception above is thrown. What is causing the issue is when the checkCerts() method attempts to get the certificates which signed the currently loading class, null is returned. And obviously, comparing null, with an array of the certificates which signed the previously loaded classes, isn't going to match; therefore this exception is thrown.
    The checkCerts() method gets the certificates of the currently loading class by calling the java.security.CodeSource.getCertificates() method. Tracing deeper in the debugger, the CodeSource object ultimately gets the certificates from the 'signersRef' member variable of the com.sun.deploy.cache.CachedJarFile class. signerRef is a SoftReference object and can therefore be garbage collected at some point. If it has already been garbage collected, the CachedJarFile class will attempt to retrieve it again from the loaded cache entry by calling com.sun.deploy.cache.MemoryCache.getLoadedResource().
    The MemoryCache class maintains the cache entries to the jar files as MemoryCache.CachedResourceReference objects, which subclass WeakReference, and therefore these objects can be garbage collected as well. If the cache entries have also been garbage collected, this leaves the CachedJarFile class with no ability to repopulate the CachedJarFile.signerRef object. Therefore it is completely out of luck getting the certificates which signed the currently loading class, which ultimately causes the above exception.
    When the com.sun.deploy.cache.Cache class attempts to retrieve a cache entry using its getCacheEntry() method, it will attempt to get the entry from the MemoryCache class, if null is returned, it will recreate the cache entry and add it back to the MemoryCache. In contrast, when the CachedJarFile class attempts to get a cache entry from the MemoryCache class, if null is returned, it just gives up.
    (from com.sun.deploy.cache.CachedJarFile:244)
    private CacheEntry getCacheEntry() {
         /* if it was not created by Cache do not search for entry */
         if (resourceURL == null)
              return null;
         CacheEntry ce = (CacheEntry) MemoryCache.getLoadedResource(resourceURL);
         if (ce == null) {
              //This should not happen because CacheEntry should not get collected
              // before CachedJarFile is collected.
              Trace.println("Missing CacheEntry for " + resourceURL + "\n" + ce,
                   TraceLevel.CACHE);
         return ce;
    When debugging, code execution falls within the code block with the comment stating "This should not happen...", but it is happening in my case.
    On an interesting side note, using the jvisualvm.exe tool included with JDK 6, I was able to tell that it seems as though these objects are collected the first time that the JVM allocates more heap space, and then the issue will occur. If I set the initial heap size very large (using -Xms) this issue won't occur at all. But that is kind of a bad solution which I would rather not do, but it is interesting to note for the sake of troubleshooting this issue. The max heap size (-Xmx) is plenty big enough, so the issue is not that we are running out of memory here.
    Does anyone have any insight as to what could be causing this? I've searched, and found a couple threads with similar problems but with no clear solutions. It is not just one workstation either, it happens everywhere I deploy the app as a Java Web Start application in a JRE 6 environment. I have been using version 1.6.0_18 on XP, but it seems to happen on any update version of 1.6. Is the fact that the CachedJarFile class doesn't attempt to reload the resource when it can't retrieve it from MemoryCache a bug? I've dug as deep as I can on this and I'm at wits end, does anybody have any ideas?
    Thank you
    Jake

  • JPA -- How can I turn off the caching for an entity?

    Hi,
    I have a problem that I will illustrate with a simplified example. I have created an entity:
    @Entity(name="Customer")
    @Table(name="CUSTOMERS")
    public class Customer implements Serializable {
    }I have also set the collowing properties in persistence.xml:
    <property name="toplink.cache.type.default" value="NONE"/>
    <property name="toplink.cache.size.default" value="0"/>
    <property name="toplink.cache.type.Customer" value="NONE"/>
    <property name="toplink.cache.size.Customer" value="0"/>
    <property name="toplink.cache.shared.Customer" value="false"/>And then I run the following code:
    Customer cust = em.find(Customer.class, 1L);
    System.out.println(cust);
    cust = em.find(Customer.class, 1L);
    System.out.println(cust);The problem: the second call to em.find does NOT generate a query to the database. Here's a fragment from the console log:
    [TopLink Fine]: 2007.05.11 02:55:05.656--ServerSession(2030438)--Connection(5858953)--Thread(Thread[Main Thread,5,main])--SELECT ID, SEX, NAME, MANAGER FROM CUSTOMERS WHERE (ID = ?)

    Customer: id=1, name=Customer #1, sex=MALECan anyone help me? Why isn't the caching turned off? I tried various combinations of properties. Nothing worked. I was expecting to see two queries to the database. I can see only one.
    I tried with TopLink Essentials Version 2 Build 39 and Version 2 Build 41.
    Best regards,
    Bisser

    The cache is likely turned off, but you can't tell because you are using the same transactional EntityManager instance for the two queries. The EntityManager requires its own cache for object identity and transactional purposes, as once you read an object in through the EM, the spec requires that all subsequent reads return the same instance. Only the EntityManager refresh will cause a refresh, that or setting your queries to use the toplink.refresh and toplink.cache-usage query hints.
    I would strongly recommend you use a query cache for performance, but there are of course reasons why one might not be the best option.
    http://weblogs.java.net/blog/guruwons/archive/2006/09/understanding_t.html
    is a good blog on understanding the caching used In TopLin Essentials.

  • Problems with signed jar, HTTPS and forms 10.1.2.3

    I have been facing a hard problem for some days concerning jar signed and HTTPS. The server can be accessed both internally, on our intranet, by a local ip address, and externally, on the internet. The first access doesn't require https,as hosts are under our domain. Externally, however, we use https. That's de logic:
    A local server , a proxy server (on our DMZ) and externals hosts (internet). The proxy server is responsible for getting the information on our local forms server, applying the https security and connection to the external reequests.
    Concerning my application, it uses some signed jars. All of them were signed by using 'sign_webutil.bat', located in java bin directory.
    When the access is made internally, everything works fine. The jar files are downloaded correctly on the user machine and the applets run well. On the other hand, when we the access is made on internet, we get many errors concerning the classes inside frwebutil:

    Hi, Michael!

  • How do I turn off the message asking me to sign in to my iCloud?

    While using my iPad and my iPhone, I keep getting a mesage to sign in to my Itunes and or iCloud account....how can I turn these off?

    You can turn off the multitasking gestures which may be causing the screen to move form app to app when he swipes left to right or swipes up from the bottom.
    Go to Settings>General>Multitasking gestures>Off. That should help some.
    Unfortuantely - You can't turn off the notification center - the calendar that pulls down from the top. If you swipe down from the top, that is always going to appear on the screen.
    And there is no way to simply lock into one app. You can lock the screen orientation via the side switch or in the task bar at the bottom of the iPad - double tap the home button and swipe to the right to find the screen lock icon all the way on the left -  it isn't locked by the side switch.
    There may be iPad cases that will aid you in preventing your son from accidentally performing these screen movements with his hands, however, you would have to search for those with a Google search or maybe post a more specific question in this help site in order to get input from others in similar circumstances. You need something along the lines of a kiosk case - but one that allows more freedom of touch.

  • Turn off "Verifying all signatures" when digitally signing a pdf form?

    Hey All!
    I have a pdf form (created with Acrobat X) with muliple digital signatures fields. Any time you sign a field, Adobe verifies all other signed signatures fields within the document.
    So the more signature fields allready been signed, the longer it takes to place a new digital signature due to the adobe verifying setting mentioned above.
    I have allready turned off "Verify signatures when the document is opened" in the security preferences, but I couldn't find a place to turn it off when signing a document.
    I am just thinking, whoever designed the Acrobat/Adobe program must have left an option to disable those security features...so I even looked in Adobe policy within windows
    registry, but I couldn't find anything either.
    It's very frustrating - at the end of the form it takes up to 20 minutes to place a signature.
    Any ideas and thoughts are more the welcome!!
    Thanks

    Sir, thank you for the quick response!
    No, It's a 22-pages form with 25 different signatures using PKI.

  • I have turned off disk cache. How can I disable startupcache?

    As in above title. Is there a way to disable startupcache and the associated file startupCache.4.little .
    It seems to regenerate itself every time I open Thunderbird. If I can't disable it completely is there a way I can limit it's size to 1MG?
    I am not sure exactly what this is doing for me, but I don't like to see it growing.
    I am on Windows 7 Premium, use Thunderbird only as a pop 3 email client. I do not use any browsing in Thunderbird (beyond looking for add-ons to turn off starupcache). No newsfeeds, etc. From all the searching I have done today I could only find one useful reference in Bugzilla stating it had something to do with retaining fonts, etc.
    What does it do? Can I disable it? Limit it's size?
    My logic (which could be missing something important, I admit) is that if I have nothing in my appdata/local/Thunderbird/Cache, then why would I want a startup cache?

  • N95 turned off during software update. No sign of ...

    Dear forum user,
    Yesterday I tried to update my Nokia N95 with OVI Suite. During the installation I find out that the battery is getting law, so I connected it to the adapter. Then, suddenly my phone turned off and does not start any more. He doesn't show any sign of life (no lights, sounds etc.). OVI suite showed an error message 12052. Is it possible to repaire this kind of  problem?
    Thank you in advance.
    Greetings, Vlad.

    Hi vsadykov,
    Thank you for post and Welcome to the Nokia Discussion forums.
    Sorry to hear about the issues your phone is facing. Firstly try removing the battery for a few minutes and then replace and see if that makes any difference (make sure your device's charger is plugged in as well when you put your battery back in)
    If  this doesn't help then try the "3 finger deep reset". With the phone powered off, depress and hold these three keys simultaneously * 3 green phone and then power on phone using the on/off button whilst keeping the three keys depressed until you hear start-up tone.
    This should ONLY be done if the device doesn't power up normally anymore and it wipes everything in the phone memory. Again make sure the the device is plugged into the charger.
    If none of this helps it looks like a visit to Nokia Service Centre is called for. You can check this at the below link:

    Let me know if any of this helps.
