Turning SQL command off in Results file

When I run the following from sqlplus:
set newpage 0
set space 0
set pagesize 0
set linesize 2000
set colsep "|"
set echo off
set verify off
set heading off
set feedback off
set tab off
set markup html off
spool /tmp/File22.txt
SELECT *
FROM CUST_CARD C;
spool off
I am getting the SQL stmt
SELECT *
FROM CUST_CARD C;
in the file too. I dont want to see the SQL stmt in the file. I came accross a thread that says use -s switch for silent mode while running in SQLPLUS, is there another way or why is the SET ECHO OFF not working?
My version is 8i:

In windows, I will try to save the SQL spool script in a file, for example "c:\test\spool.sql"
Then I will try to run the script from SQL *Plus  as "@c:\test\spool.sql"Just a word of advice - and this applies generally - don't use keywords for
filenames, scriptnames (tablenames...)... anything basically.
Call the file myspool.sql or something similar - it's all to easy to get
confused between
SQL> spool
and
SQL> @spool
(which you would type if running the script from c:\test)
Sometimes Operating Systems can get confused also - spool.sql may well work
(don't have Oracle to hand to test), but results could* become OS dependent.
Just a thought.

    Try switching it back from landscape to vertical. Or, go to settings and see if you have any special setting turned on that enable only landscape view. Also, try hooking it up to your computer and charging it to see what happens.

  • In batch file i want to execute sql commands

    in x.bat file i write the following
    sqlplus user/pass@host @c:\a.sql
    @c:\b.sql
    when i execute this batch file it is connected to the databse
    and the table of a.sql is created in the database.
    but b.sql is not created.
    it is creating only one table
    i want ot create more no of tables with different .sql files
    like @c:b.sql
    @c:c.sql
    @c:d.sql
    please any body help

    The problem you are running into is that SQL Plus only recognizes the first command you have written in the batch file.
    sqlplus user/pass@host
    SPOOL c:\master.log
    @c:\a.sql
    @c:\b.sql
    SPOOL OFF
    SQLPlus will recognize the spool and first sql command, but the batch file gets command back after the first sql command executes and doesn't recognize @c:\b.sql or know what to do with it. To run multiple SQL commands you have to create an external SQL file with all the sql commands in it with the Spool files you want created, then in the batch file you only call the one SQL script.
    Create a master file like so:
    -- Script Name : AllFiles.sql
    SPOOL c:\master.log
    @c:\a.sql
    @c:\b.sql
    SPOOL OFF
    In x.bat
    CALL SQLPlus user/password@database @AllFiles.sql
    This should get you your required results.

  • Crystal Reports 2011 - SQL commands

    I upgraded to Windows 7 (64 bit) and was obliged to upgrade Crystal Reports to CR2011. All reports (so far) have run as expected - except those with SQL commands containing self-referencing tables. These reports have prompted me to re-map the field references!
    Background. In Crystal XI, these SQL commands, containing self-referencing tables automatically labelled secondary, tertiary etc.. instances of the same field with suffixes as follows SAMEFIELD, SAMEFIELD(1), SAMEFIELD(2) etc., so that the same field had a unique name depending on which table it was from. This was easily referenced in the record selection,, and other formula.
    Crystal Reports 2011. The same SQL commands do not result in automatically suffixed field names, and so the same field (but from a different table) will be labelled exactly the same, so SAMEFIELD, SAMEFIELD, SAMEFIELD etc. (NOTE. The SQL command does not allow me to do any alasing). When trouble-shooting the problem, I discovered that even when adding the respective instances of SAMEFIELD to a report, only the first instance of the field would actually be added (according to the Field Explorer), and the field entry would just be duplicated. I actually can't believe that it appears that I'm going to have to re-write some of my reports because of this.
    1. Has anyone else discovered this?
    2. Can anyone advise how I can get an alias for the duplicating field names?
    3. I upgraded to CR 2011 thinking that the newest version would be the most sophisticated, should I have only upgraded to CR 2008 - does this problem exist in CR 2008?
    Thanks.

    This doesn't work - Sorry
    Additionally, without aliases in the resulting table, as outlined in my post, when placing instances of 'SAMENAME' in the report, secondary instances of SAMENAME (which infact represent other values) only show values that the first instance represents.
    To clarify, if the resulting table shows SAMENAME, SAMENAME, SAMENAME, but the field represents Level1, Level2, Level3, when the top (first instance) of SAMENAME is placed in the report, it will show a value representing Level1, when the next SAMENAME is added to the report, that also shows a value representing Level1. The Field Explorer will indicate a tick against the first instance of SAMENAME but not subsequent additions.

  • Using 10g SQL Plus from a batch file

    I installed the Oracle Database 10g Express Client and configured my ODBC and tnsnames.ora settings, and I think I have it all right, because when I open the SQL Command Line I can connect to the database just fine using:
    connect <username>/<password>@<database>
    However, when I try to log in through a non-SQL command line or batch file using the syntax:
    sqlplus <username>/<password>@<database>
    I get the error "ORA-12154: TNS:could not resolve the connect identifier specified." That syntax used to work for me with 9.2. Does the functionality still exist in 10.2?
    Update #1:
    The sqlplus login works from a normal command widow if I first CD C:\XEClient\bin. I still can't get it to work from a batch file, even when I specify the path. Does this mean the batch file command can't find my tnsnames.ora? If so, what environment variable do I need to set? I already have the client directory in the Path and ORACLE_HOME variables.
    Update #2:
    I started randomly trying every Oracle environment variable I could find a reference to, and found that setting TNS_ADMIN to the C:\XEClient\bin directory worked.
    I don't need any responses to this post, so it can be deleted by an admin.

    Hi Toni,
    It is my first post here and I though telepathy already operated here :)
    it is Oracle 9 I am talking about.
    actually, I have 2 batch files
    File 1, lets say the file name is batch1.bat and the contents are
    sqlldr user/pwd@tnsname control='Control.ctl'  data='data.txt'
    File 2, batch2.bat and the contents are
    Batch1.bat
    Sqlplus user/pwd@tnsname @callproc.sql
    Now if I run Batch2.bat, then only the first line to be executed which calling the batch1.bat , the second line (sqlplus) never executed!

  • Create batch file containing SQL commands

    Hi,
    Iam using windows xp... I have 8 *.sql files, all of them contain insert statements and every file takes 40 min to execute and when one finishes i execute the other.
    Is there any way that i can combine them and execute at one go..
    Now iam using
    spool o:\abc.log
    @abc.sql
    spool off
    Can any one help me ..
    Any help would be appreciated
    Thanks

    > all of them contain insert statements and every file takes 40 min to execute
    Insert statements!?
    All of them totally trash the Oracle Shared Pool.. If only done properly, each would take mere seconds to run and not 40 minutes.
    A snip of a benchmark I posted some time ago showing just how utterly wrong it is to code SQL inserts using literal values.
    SQL> create table footab( n number );
    Table created.
    SQL> set timing on
    SQL>
    SQL> -- doing a 100,000 inserts using a single SQL INSERT with bind variable
    SQL> declare
    2 sqlInsert varchar2(1000);
    3 begin
    4 sqlInsert := 'insert into footab( n ) values( :0 )';
    5 for i in 1..100000
    6 loop
    7 execute immediate sqlInsert using i;
    8 end loop;
    9 end;
    10 /
    PL/SQL procedure successfully completed.
    Elapsed: 00:00:04.91
    SQL> -- doing a 100,000 inserts using a 100,000 SQL INSERTs
    SQL> declare
    2 sqlInsert varchar2(1000);
    3 begin
    4 -- need to built a unique SQL for each insert
    5 for i in 1..100000
    6 loop
    7 sqlInsert := 'insert into footab( n ) values( '||i||' )';
    8 execute immediate sqlInsert;
    9 end loop;
    10 end;
    11 /
    PL/SQL procedure successfully completed.
    Elapsed: 00:05:21.47
    SQL>The second method is what you are using. 1000's of insert statements, each with hard coded literal values to insert.
    The first method show how it should be done from the client side - using a single SQL insert with bind variables.
    And the result? 5 minutes 21 seconds versus a mere 4.91 seconds!!!
    You need to seriously rethink your approach. Abusing Oracle is not how one achieve the spectacular performance and scalability that Oracle is famous for.

    MS SQL server is going down frequently(10 days of gap) with exception message: "A severe error occurred

    Hi YesYemPee,
    I have tried but still not clear about your issue, I would like you provide more details information about your issue based on below points to better analysis about the issue:
    What action did you do and caused the error "A severe error occurred on the current command. The results, if any, should be discarded", did you run report on the web application or something else then the error happen?
    If you rendering the report and got the error, please try to provide us more error information in the log files which path like:
    C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSRS10_50.MSSQLSERVER\Reporting Services\LogFiles
    If it is not the case in step1, Please try to provide SQL Server Error log(SQL Server Logs) and more details information.
    If you still have any problem, please feel free to ask.

  • Sql commands in cmd file

    I have been forced to write some simple scripts for Windows users who use Oracle. I used to write in bash/ksh and have no experience at all about windows scripts. What I figured out is :
    cmd file:
    echo off
    set script_dir= .
    set log=%script_dir%\log\db.log
    set scrsql=%script_dir%\db.sql
    sqlplus /nolog @%scrsql% >> %log%
    so my questions are :
    - I would like to have all commands ( batch and sql) visible inside cmd file. Is it any way to put sql commands line by line into cmd file ?
    - how to redirect output of sql command ( for example simple select ) to screen or file
    - how to put external parameter into sql command ( for example select xx from yy where zz=@param)
    KP>

    well, I do not see too much responses for my question - maybe it was not clear enough ?
    Let me write it in this way:
    I have a short ksh script:
    +#!/usr/bin/ksh+
    LOG_DIR=$ORACLE_HOME/dba/scripts/log
    LOG=$LOG_DIR/log.txt
    VAR=$2
    export ORACLE_SID=$1
    sqlplus -s '/as sysdba' << ! >> $LOG                  <<  call sqlplus commands inside a script
    whenever sqlerror exit failure;
    select * from table where columnsvalue= $VAR;          <<  use variable in sql query
    +!+
    How to convert, in most easy way, such a script to windows batch. If I get an answer it solves almost all problems I have.

  • Running sql commands from a .sql file

    Hello , I have this problem. How do i execute sql commands found in a .sql file with jdbc. My RDBMS is mysql.

    You will have to open and parse the .sql file, connect to the database, and execute the statements. You can't simply tell JDBC to run your .sql file.
    Depending on the complexity of your .sql file this is easy or hard. If its a bunch of e.g. updates or deletes or something you may be able to get away with running it as a block. In Oracle for example, you can put "begin" and "end;" around a bunch of statements and run it all together. In that case your program would open the SQL file, read the text, put it inside a "begin" and "end;", and run it as a single SQL statement.
    If its a bunch of statements that must be run independently then you'll have to programatically split them up to run one at a time. If its a select and you want to e.g. print results to the screen, well, then it gets tougher...

  • Without using SubReport or SQL Command in Main Report, get desired results without duplicating

    It seems so simple.  I just need the cost, at a certain time (based on a parameter), for each item.  I wrote a SQL Command that works beautifully, but when it connects to the existing report, it slows to a horrible crawl and cannot be used for tables with over 4 million records.  Here is the SQL Command that provides the desired results:
    SELECT TOP 1 WITH TIES "INVENTITEMPRICE"."ITEMID", "INVENTITEMPRICE"."PRICETYPE", "INVENTITEMPRICE"."MARKUP", "INVENTITEMPRICE"."PRICEUNIT", "INVENTITEMPRICE"."PRICE", "INVENTITEMPRICE"."PRICEQTY", "INVENTITEMPRICE"."ACTIVATIONDATE", "INVENTITEMPRICE"."DATAAREAID"
    FROM ("AX09PROD"."dbo"."INVENTITEMPRICE" "INVENTITEMPRICE" INNER JOIN "AX09PROD"."dbo"."INVENTTABLE" "INVENTTABLE" ON (("INVENTITEMPRICE"."ITEMID"="INVENTTABLE"."ITEMID") AND ("INVENTITEMPRICE"."DATAAREAID"="INVENTTABLE"."DATAAREAID")))
    WHERE  ("INVENTITEMPRICE"."DATAAREAID"=N'TMC' AND "INVENTITEMPRICE"."PRICETYPE"=0 AND "INVENTITEMPRICE"."ACTIVATIONDATE"<={?As Of Date})
    ORDER BY ROW_NUMBER () OVER(PARTITION BY "INVENTITEMPRICE"."ITEMID" ORDER BY "INVENTITEMPRICE"."ACTIVATIONDATE" DESC)
    I've attached the report with saved data.  However, when I remove the restrictions of just certain items, it is unusable as it is SO SLOW!
    I can also get the desired results from using a subreport but it takes forever to export due to the number of records/items.  Whenever possible, I avoid subreports for this reason.  I've attached that report with data as well.
    Please be patient as I'm not savvy in SQL, but decent in generating reports.  What am I doing wrong?  This seems SO simple.  The premise is that I want the corresponding information based on the date entered:  If the date entered is 3/15/2014, the result should be 91.15 as indicated below.  I'd simply like this value to be placed in a formula per item.
    Item 80014:
    Activation Date
    Cost Price
    6/2/2014
    104.43
    4/1/2014
    91.58
    3/1/2014
    91.15
    2/1/2014
    92.89
    1/1/2014
    93.57
    Any assistance would be GREATLY appreciated!
    Thanks!
    Teena
    Update:  I was unable to attach the reports with .rpt or .txt extensions.  There were well under 1MB.  Any suggestions?

    hi Teena,
    if you're going the inline subquery route, try something like the following...the last line in the sub-query 'where' clause should in theory take care of matching the correct price based on relating the item id's between your cost price & inventory data. this should leave you with distinct values for each itemid then. hopefully it won't error out as i'm just guessing on the syntax.
    SELECT DISTINCT
    "INVENTTABLE"."ITEMID",
    "INVENTTRANS"."DATAAREAID",
    "INVENTTRANS"."DATEPHYSICAL",
    "INVENTTRANS"."QTY",

  • How do I turn off background ni file activity when not using Labview? files such as nimxs.exe, nipalsm.exe, nipalsm.exe, nisvcloc.exe, nicitdl5.exe

    How do I turn off background ni file activity when not using Labview? I use labview rarely, and I also use my computer for demanding multimedia applications, including multitrack digital audio recording. I need to reduce as much background activity as possible, and taking a look with task manager I see files such as nimxs.exe, nipalsm.exe, nipalsm.exe, nisvcloc.exe, and nicitdl5.exe running even when I haven't used Labview (8 I believe). These files run even after I right click the NI icon on the lower right and turn off the application. I would like the computer to boot up without these files, and for the necessary files to be activated only when I start the program.
    Can this be done or do I have to remove labview from the system to improve performance?
    Thanks

    Hello, those processes are part of running NI services that start when Windows boots.  These processes serve varied purposes and stopping them can have undefined and unknown consiquences for your NI products.  These products run at "normal" priority meaning that they should be preempted by any process running at a higher priority which I would expect your other application to be doing given their time sensitivity.  That being said, in Windows XP (I can't speak for other OSes), you can lower their priorities even greater through task manager (right click the process»set priority) to further remove them from contention for resources.  If you want to prevent them from running you can set the service startup type to "manual" in Control Panel»Administrative Tools»Services.  Right click the process go to Properties and Under the General tab choose Startup Type»Manual.  This will start up the processes only when something directly starts it up.  LabVIEW will start these processes up as it attempts to use them.  When you shut down LabVIEW you will need to manually shut down these processes through task manager.  Again, doing this can cause problems with your NI products on your system and it is not advised.

    Hello Charles,
    The SQL Syntax especially for DDL commands are different between MS SQL Server and Advantage Database, so you have to modify them to get them work.
    As David already wrote we don't have a stored procedure "sp_CreateIndex90" in SQL Server, you may remove these commands, and we also don't have a data type "Logical", next could be "bit"

  • How to execute command(program) from external file in Oracle SQL developer

    Hi,
    Does anyone know, Oracle SQL developer version 1.0.0.14.67 got any function that can execute command from an external file?
    Example, i have 100 insert SQL inside a text file,
    and i want to use Oracle SQL developer to execute it. How do i read from my text file? Thanks a lots.

    If you're new to Oracle, do yourself and us a favour: read some tutorials and manuals. What sqldev's worth, better download the latest version (1.1.2), lots of fixes and enhancements...
    Now for the big popper: to run an external file: @file
    Best of luck,
    K.

    Reinstall OS X without erasing the drive
    1. Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions
    Boot from your Snow Leopard Installer disc. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button. When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list.  In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive.  If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the installer.
    If DU reports errors it cannot fix, then you will need Disk Warrior and/or Tech Tool Pro to repair the drive. If you don't have either of them or if neither of them can fix the drive, then you will need to reformat the drive and reinstall OS X.
    2. Reinstall Snow Leopard
    If the drive is OK then quit DU and return to the installer.  Proceed with reinstalling OS X.  Note that the Snow Leopard installer will not erase your drive or disturb your files.  After installing a fresh copy of OS X the installer will move your Home folder, third-party applications, support items, and network preferences into the newly installed system.
    Download and install Mac OS X 10.6.8 Update Combo v1.1.
