TUXEDO11 in MP mode can't boot TMS_ORA on the non-master node
I have my Tuxedo 11 installed on Ubuntu9.10 server as the master node (SITE1) and on CentOS6.2 as the non-master node (SITE2). The client program is using WSL to communicate with the servers. Tuxedo 11 has no patch, and both Tuxedo11 and Oracle10gR2 are 32 bits running on 32 bits OS.
On both node a TMS_ORA associated with an ORACLE 10gR2 database was installed. When I issue "tmboot -y", the servers on the master node booted normally, however, the TMS_ORA server and server that using TMS_ORA on SITE2 reported "Assume started (pipe). ". There is no core file for these servers on SITE2 and in ULOG on SITE2 there is no Error or Warning concerning the failure starting of TMS_ORA.
In order to check my servers and TMS_ORA works OK on SITE2, I used the master command under tmadmin to first swap the master and non-master node, and after the migration is successful, on SITE2 I issued "tmshutdown -cy" command then "tmboot -y" command. Surprisingly, all the servers booted correctly on both nodes. Then I migrate the master node back to SITE1 and the servers are still there alive and my client program can successfully call these servers which means the TMS_ORA and server using TMS_ORA on both nodes works fine.
The problem is, when I "tmshutdown -s server" (those on SITE2, either TMS_ORA or server using TMS_ORA), then using "tmboot -s server" to boot them (those on SITE2, either TMS_ORA or server using TMS_ORA) I got "Assume started (pipe). " reported and those server process didn't appear on SITE2.
It seems that I can't boot TMS_ORA on SITE2 from the master node SITE1 but can boot all the servers correctly if SITE2 are acting as the master node. Server that don't use TMS_ORA on SITE2 can be booted successfully from SITE1.
Can anybody figure out what's wrong? Thanks in advance.
Best regards,
Orlando

If db is in simple recovery mode can we identify who deleted the login id?
if db is in simple recovery mode can we identify who deleted the login id?
You can take a look in the default trace to find who dropped it. If you are lucky enough.
The database being in simple recovery mode has nothing to do with it. Even in full recovery mode this is not going to be seperately logged.

This query is only going to check the last trace file and by default you have four others, putting path instead of the subquery to find the trace path will also work.

My iPhoto software got set up with two separate libraries of photos, one marked as default. I have saved photos to the non-default library, however now can't seem to find a way to open the non-default library. Every once in a while when I open iPhoto it will ask me, but usually it just opens the default library. How can I open the non-dafult library of photos?
When you launch iPhoto with the option key depressed you'll get this window:
All libraries on your hard drive (and on external drives) will be listed and the currently used library will be listed as (default).

Can iPhoto and Lightroom share the same master file?
I have loaded all my images into iPhoto. Lightroom cannot see the files until I made alias folders and placed them in Pictures. Now lightroom can see them. Lightroom is non destructive and should not damage the masters. Is that the same for iPhoto? Any problems in sharing the same master file?
I have 20k images that take up 100G. Eighty percent are JPEG and have already been edited. iPhoto seems ideal for this group. Kids and grandkids like to go down memory lane and this seems to be easy to navigate. The remaining 20% are mostly raw files and need editing. I already have Lightroom and had been using it in my old PC. I am new to modern Mac’s having changed over to PC from Mac 10 years ago. I loaded all my photo files to iPhoto not knowing that the master file was hidden.
Lightroom is a great editor. Almost all the advanced photographers in our club use Lightroom for 90% of their images. Ten % require layer capability so they use Photoshop CS5 or Elements. By the way there is now a layer plug in for Lightroom that works pretty well.
The work flow I envision, if possible, would be to enter new raw images into Lightroom and edit. The master raw images could go anywhere. Could they reside in the iPhoto master file? The export would be jpeg to iPhoto. For existing images I would use the iPhoto master list to import the 20% group to Lightroom. You don’t really import the images but borrow the image. The masters are never altered. When you export an edited jpeg, the master stays unaltered in it’s original file. Does iPhoto operate the same way.
I read where Lightroom jpeg images cause a problem for iPhoto. Still a problem? -
Can't install Lion with the Golden Master
Hey,
Now Lion is out the first thing I did was buying it of course.
The problem is that I can't 'cause it saids that its already installed.
I think this is 'cause I have the GM installed now.
Does anybody know what I gotta do?jbjoret wrote:
I will be having the same problem ... that is why I am waiting until more information emerges.
That is a smart move. From what I understand, the beta versions (including the GM seed) and the released versions are different as far as the Mac App Store is concerned. Eventually, you may have to get a new redemtion code and download the final Mac App Store version. Otherwise, you could be in a spot where everyone else is downloading an update via the Mac App Store, but it tells you that there is no update available for your beta version, even thought it is the same build number.
I'm pretty much just speculating at this point. I don't know for sure and the developer site is not responding right now. The quote above is the wisest course of action. Sit tight for now and let things calm down. -
Can u boot from a Mac in target disk mode
I'm wanting to know if I put a Mac mini in target disk mode, can I boot from that Mac mini from my MacBook Pro. I'm wanting to set up a mini as a server but it may have to be the basic and ill install server on it but I prefer to do it without using a monitor. I'm curious to know if its possible.
You don't need a monitor with the MM, and neither boot in Target Mode. Like me, use screen sharing for remote access over the network:
On the MM, -> System Preferences -> Sharing, there check Remote Management and choose which user, if not all, may have access. If you're not the only one, you can limit access for each user under Options.
Under -> System Preferences -> Energy Saver, it makes sense to check Wake for network access.
Then you can log out from the MM, leave it sitting at the login screen and turn off or disconnect its screen.
On the remote Mac, open Finder and find the MM under Shared. Click in it, then on Share Screen. You'll need to enter the login credentials for your account on the MM, eventually save it to your Keychain. Then your MM's login screen should appear in a window on your remote Mac. You have now full access to the MM. -
IBook osx 10.5.6 no finder, won't boot fully, can't boot from disk
My iBook has worked fine ever since the upgrade to 10.5.6, no problems at all.
I installed Safari 4, and whatever security updates it required for that a few days ago and everything still worked fine.
Yesterday I awoke it from sleep and the colors of the default desktop (aurora) had all black parts turned blue, there was no bar at the top of the screen (where file edit, clock etc usually are ), and the finder didn't work. Dock and all it's icons showed up but none are clickable.
Did a hard shut down with the power button, restart it passes grey screen fine, goes direct to blue screen then to desktop - no starting OS X progress bar or anything, then back to the same blue-tinted desktop, unclickable dock, and lack of top bar.
I booted to single user mode, ran /sbin/fsck -yf said drive was ok,
can't boot up with the install disk, or with disk warrior. It passes the grey screen fine, but then gets to blue screen and the computer just shuts down, then boots back into that same bluish desktop.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks very much,
MaikunariHello m:
You have (IMHO) a hardware problem. Without being able to boot from a DVD the troubleshooting options are almost nil.
You could try to reset the SMC/PMU:
http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1411
If that does not work, I am afraid a trip to a technician for diagnosis is in order.

I live in a small city in Japan, so no Mac store but went to a shop which has a Mac corner and was lucky to be able to speak with an Apple employee who happened to be there to install Snow Leopard on the display computers.
He said to get another Mac from a friend (a MacBook, running Leopard, in Japanese, with 50GB free space) and set my computer to Target Disk Mode, connect a firewire between the two and use Migration Assistant to transfer my files to my friends computer, then reinstall Leopard on my computer, then transfer the files back.
Needless to say, I haven't got my own recent and complete backup of all my files.
I do this but in The Migration Assistant I can get as far as the part where it tells me to connect the firewire and then Restart my computer while holding down the T key. My computer goes into Target Disk Mode OK but the button which says to "Continue" in the Migration Assistant application remains grey, so I can't continue.
My questions:-
Is this the best method for resolving my problem?
If so, why does the "Continue" button remain greyed out?
If I can get things going, do the migrated files replace the files on my friend's MacBook or are they put in a folder on the desktop? (I don't want to overwrite anything on his computer.)
Is 50GB on the MacBook enough?
I've used my scanner's 6 pin firewire cable. Is this OK? MacBook firewire is 400Mbps, so I assume it's also 6 pin (not 9 pin), it connects all right.
I have DiskWarrior, can this be used to help? If so, what is the correct procedure? The Apple guy said there was a danger that my files would be lost.
I have another Hard Disk on my computer. First Aid, run from my install disk, said that this disk needed no repairs. When I reinstall the OS are the contents of this disk also erased or are they safe?
Are there any other questions that I should be asking?
I would greatly appreciate any help and thank those who take the time to do so. I will return to the internet cafe that I'm in now to respond to anyone who posts a reponse. Many thanks. Giles.Hi! First I would note that any action could cause the loss of your files and that's why you should always have at least two backups of anything that's important to you. Second if you have the Diskwarrior disc for Leopard I would startup from it by holding the "c" key down with the disk inserted. Diskwarrior has a better chance of fixing your computer than anything else. If that fails I would do an archive and install which installs a new system and ONLY resort to an erase and install as a last resort. Read about archive and install HERE. Tom

Hi!i need some help please T.TIve just changed my HP 14-d003la Notebooks HDD for an SSD.Saddly, after the cloning and plugging everything back in, the bios simply wont just boot. I even tried to put the HDD back, but no luck, ive done several BIOS recovery with the USB, still nothing. Everytime i press like F2....BIOS setup Options.....stays there forever Any clue on how to solve this?Thnx in advance!
thereafter you can't boot up into the bios with either the F2 or the F12 key.
Karl, you can boot directly into the BIOS by pressing (and holding down) F2 prior to pressing the power switch.

Can't boot from CD but works fine
I need boot from CD to reset the administrator's password. But the system can not boot up from the installation CD, and it shows some crash message at the startup dark screen. But without CD, the system works fine. I'm using OSX10.4.2, Dual 2.3GHz PowerPC G5, 1.5G RAM, GeForce6600 256MB display card. Anyone helps me out? Thanks a lot!
Thanks, Tom,
The original system of this computer was panther and the CD as well. It has been upgraded to Tiger. It couldn't boot from the original CD, no crash message but stopped at the Apple logo startup screen. I suspected the OS version didn't match so that I changed to the Tiger CD (from my MacBook Pro). Then it crashed.
The system works well except that I lost the administrator privilege. Right now I need install a firewire to operate a CCD camera. What should I do? -
Hello!
I moved active system partition in diskmgmt.msc from lenovo 100MB internal partition (actually I'm not sure with the default size of the partition it migth be 1000MB or so I just remember visually digits, but I quess the partition is 100MB) to my C: partition. In result I can not boot up my system. All I can do after turning on notebook is to enter the bios.
I didn't remove lenovo partition I just clicked RMB on my C: partition in diskmgmt.msc and made it active. After reboot I can not load windows any longer.
How can I restore lenovo partition to be active?
Got Windows 7 64 bit.
Thanks in advance for any ideas
Kindest Pawel
P.S. I'am writing on Lenovo T400 which doesn't contain that lenovo internal partition, so I'm even more confused what is the purpose of it, maybe for security reasons or so...
Solved!
Go to Solution. The "active" partition is where Boot Manager lives. The BIOS goes to the "active" partition to start the boot process, i.e. to launch Boot Manager which may utilize a boot manager menu to select which OS you want to boot to, if you have more than one bootable OS installed in multiple partitions. The boot manager menu also resides in this "active" partition.
If you install Windows7 from scratch on an empty drive, by default it will create a 100MB "system reserved" partition (i.e. the "active" partition, and which does NOT get a drive letter assigned to it when Windows comes up), along with a second large system partition for Windows itself (i.e. what you see as C). The entire rest of the drive is allocated to C by default, if you don't make any changes at cold install time.
So although it's possible to relocate Boot Manager and the boot manager menu into that large C partition (corresponding to changing that partition to be "active" and also de-activating the small "system reserved" partition which is no longer going to be used to begin the boot process), that is NOT the way the Windows installer builds things. And it's NOT the way Lenovo delivers the factory setup.
The Lenovo "system_reserved" partition from Lenovo is actually about 1.4GB rather than the usual 100MB. In it Lenovo places other utilities which get utilized during the system recovery process (which also uses the third partition Lenovo puts on the drive, i.e. the "recovery" partition). This is what allows you to truly recreate the factory-provided original hard drive steup if you need to or want to.
Anyway, it is possible to relocate the Boot Manager files into the C-partition if you had a true retail Windows 7 installation DVD. You could run "system repair" (rather than "install") three times in succession, and this would accomplish the deed. There are also utilities like EasyBCD which can relocate Boot Manager into the C-partition. Both of these processes would then allow you to delete the original "system reserved" partition (either the small 100MB one from MS, or the 1.4GB one from Lenovo... realizing of course that you would then lose the ability to use the "recovery partition" to restore Lenovo factory setup).
Also, if you install Windows 7 as a second bootable OS on a drive where WinXP was already installed, the Win7 installer would NOT create a "system reserved" (active) partition, as the existing WinXP partition is already marked as "active" and is where the current Boot Manager (from WinXP) lives. The Win7 installer replaces this (in the WinXP system partition itself, which is left untouched as the "active" partition) with the Win7 Boot Manager and menu, and creates a separatte new partition with Win7 in it. So now you have two bootable OS's, and no small "system reserved", and the WinXP partition contains Win7 Boot Manager and 2-OS boot menu, and is the "active" partition where the BIOS goes to start the boot process.
But honestly, there is really no reason to do any of the above with your W520. Just stick with what came from Lenovo. Some partition on the boot drive MUST be marked "active", and that's where Boot Manager and its menu MUST reside. Who cares whether that's in a small separate partition (which doesn't get a letter anyway), or in C? There's really very little to gain from changing this, other than a very small amount of additional hard drive space becoming "usable". -
Can I copy and paste the texts or graphics to another project?
Hi folks, I am working on several movie clips which share the same graphics and most contents as beginning intro. Just a few sentences are different. If would be so much hassle if I had to type everything and import the images to every clips. I noticed that I can't open two projects at the same time. So I am wondering if I can group them, copy and paste them to another project? Is it doable?
Thanks a lot for your time!Unfortunately, you have posted to the Tips & Tricks sub-forum, which is a repository for articles on how to do things in PrE & PrPro. Maybe Steve Grisetti, our tireless MOD, can move your post to the main forum, where more folk will see it, and can comment on it.
In the meantime, you are correct - one cannot have two Projects Open at the same time, and you cannot Copy/Paste between Projects, without an additional program, like the Clipboard extender, ClipMate. That is one way to get what you want.
Possibly there is another way to do what you want, without any additional programs. If you have Titles, and they will only change by a bit, you can create a "master" Title with graphics, text, Styles, etc., and then Save each as a Template, which can be used in multiple Projects, and also altered/edited in those Projects, as is needed. Everytime that I create a Title, with potential for reuse, I just do the Export as Template (the exact syntax might differ by version, but the result is the same - a PRTL Title Template file, located where you direct the program), and then those will appear in my Title "organizer" to be chosen. When one Imports one, they can be edited, as needed.
If one has an Intro, that will be reused, then one could create that, with any audio, images and Titles, and Export/Share as a DV-AVI, or similar, for later use. Note: with this method, one could not directly edit any Titles in such an Asset, as they would no longer be official Titles, and would be footage in an AV Clip. One could Cut out a Title, and replace it with a real Title, but then one would have to adjust for Transitions, if any were used. Still, I have some Intros, and Outros, that are constant, like The End Outros, and I use the Exported AV Clips there. In some cases, I leave the Intro, or Outro slightly unfinished, so that I can just add in, say a Title for each use in other Projects.
Good luck, and when the post is moved to the main forum, there will probably be some additional comments on slightly different workflows.

Urgent - Can't find the non-proctored exam on peaarson vue !
Greetings ...
I attend to take the "Program with PL/SQL | 1Z0-147" but I can't find it in the non-proctored exams at pearson vue !
I need an urgent help please ... thanks in advancebecause I attended the introduction to oracle 9i : sql 1z0-007 before, it was in a test center and online exam but no one was proctoring!
plus I searched before for the 1z0-147 and found it as non-proctored as it was for the 1z0-007, there was a bit of changes or it was misunderstanding by me?!
now the pearson vue tells me that the price of the exam is "GB 101" but as I reach to the pay step, the price changes to USD 245! so what is that ?!
The SQL Fundamentals exams (of which 1Z0-007 is one of several) are among the very few that Oracle allows to be taken non-proctored.
To my knowledge, 1Z0-147 has never been a non-proctored exam.
$245 USD is the price for taking that exam in the US. I have no idea what the price is in other countries or how the Pearson Vue site handles them. You'd need to contact PV. -
Can't boot properly in UEFI mode
Hi!
After enabling "windows 8 feature" and booting in uefi only mode, no boot device is detected anymore. The efi shell comes up after the bios has started and I can't boot into windows. I tried a clear cmos but it didn't work. I have a Z87-GD65 (latest 1.11 or 1.1B bios) and my sata devices are a crucial mx100 ssd (with windows 8.1 64-bit), western digital black hdd and asus dvd reader. I'd like to be able to boot in uefi normally. Thanks for your help!I think I've found topic for you

It's about notebook but installation process is actually the same -
Mavericks can only boot in safe mode
In can only boot my Imac 27' (end of 2009) in safe mode.
The problem started in Lion, when the computer suddenly froze.
I upgraded (in safe mode) to Mavericks 10.9.2, took away all Launch Agents and Daemon that are not Apple (both in System and User's), done all the permission repairs, reset memory, fsck and turn the plug off the computer. The only thing I was not able to do is the hardware test (for some reason, the command + D to access the internet testing is not working). I have no external devices or cables attached.
My 2TB hard drive is divided in 3 partitions. I have got 2 user accounts.
Even with all this, I can only start in safe mode.
Here is a copy of the log. If anyone can help, I would be grateful !

I would like to try and turn off bonjour, as it seems like a MDNSResponder Error. But need a green light from any of you experts.
I am posting the latest system log (on this one, I forgot to unplug the printer)
Please help !!!
