I am new to Flex and Flex Mobile development and I wanted to follow the tutorial on "Build Your First Mobile Flex Application: Twitter Trends" by Narciso Jaramillo. But I am stuck at Exercise 3. Connect the trends view to data. I keep getting this error

Unfortunately, I was not able to get this resolved.
I have an iPhone, so was unable to install the .apk file on my device.
I was merely trying to vet this capability, so didn't actually spend a lot of time trying to resolve it. I suspect it does have something to do with my company's proxy server, so would like to know how Flashbuilder can be configured to use a proxy server when trying to connect to external URL's.

OSB Twitter REST Api notification!

Hello, I need any help possible with the following: I am about to start working on a project that whenever there is a certain error in the database or errors in general that there will be a notification sent to twitter account where people following the twitter account would be able to see that there is an error. I want to know about ways to do this using Oracle Service Bus and the Twitter REST api... any help will be much appreciated thank you!

Try this:
1. Create a business service to call the Provider service.
2. In the Proxy route node, add a route action to invoke the above business service.
3. In the Route action add routing options and set URL to a new value, you can write XQUery expression to create the endpoint as required (in your case http://host/api/orders/12345/shipped )

Twitter flash API?

Anyone have any success with the Twitter Flash API on the iOS (or any other mobile devices)?

I haven't used it, but be aware that loading a SWF with code isn't supported on iOS (it violates Apple's rules). So if the API is a library that is compiled into your main SWF, then it should work. If the API is a separate SWF, either loaded locally or loaded from a remote source, it won't work. Loading SWFs with code works on other mobile platforms.

Working with facebook and Twitter oauth API with adobe flash iphone package

Hi Guys any body tried to do some facebook stuff or twitter using with this package for iphone. any thought, findings or help. please share here.
i am trying both with way to use facebook as3 librabry for web and desktop (but now success)and also now going to try to add some web view like thing to ask user to login and authenticate application then make all calls using php web services for rest of functionality.
Would like input from developers interested in facebook, twitter intergration in flash iphone app.

Twitter API authentication

HI, I'm making a flex mobile app which should shome some feeds with a certain hashtag.
After a long search i found the guide from adobe , build first mobile flex app pdf, with the twitter trends.
But i got stuck at excercise 3. I got an error from the API about ssl. Then I realized that the guide used the previous version of the API.
with the new version an authorization os needed but I have no idea how i need to do this in flex.
i'm a total beginner in flex and flash builder and hope that someone could help me.

We found the following non-public API/s in your app:
_updateView (I have the method name like "_updateView" in my source, can I change the name of the method. Is it works ? )
If you have defined methods in your source code with the same names as the above-mentioned APIs, we suggest altering your method names so that they no longer collide with Apple's private APIs to avoid your application being flagged in future submissions.
Additionally, one or more of the above-mentioned APIs may reside in a static library included with your application. If you do not have access to the library's source, you may be able to search the compiled binary using "strings" or "otool" command line tools. The "strings" tool can output a list of the methods that the library calls and "otool -ov" will output the Objective-C class structures and their defined methods. These techniques can help you narrow down where the problematic code resides."
                                And in my application, I am using the FBConnect, SDWebImage library, and Twitter+oAuth api's. These are non-public api's ? Now, can I integrate Jira (Crash Reporter) to my application? Can anybody solve my issue......

Anyone else want to see Twitter ripped out of iOS 5?

Seriously, why to I need to trip over Twitter everywhere I go in iOS 5? I dont use it, i didn't activate it in settings, I don't even like it... why is it there? Twitter is only cool among Jr Highers and middle eastern revolutionaries.. for everyone else, it's worn out. Why do the rest of us have to pay for the Jobs/Zuckerberg peeing contest by drowning in Twitter prompts? The twitter needs to fly south.

Well, i guess if you'd rather identify more with jr highers than with revolutionaries somebody needs to get you all riled up about something!! ...just tryin' to start a revolution bru!
FYI, i don't know of a single person over the age of 15 who uses twitter (except for adults who are trying to seem "hip" to the 15 year olds...). I guess it's the same reason why the top 25 apps on the app store are always games... iOS is mostly used by children... and adults who act like children. I think I'll start a Twitter trend to organize a rally to bring down Twitter! MUUAAHHHAHAHAHA... haha... ha.
Tertiarrily, maybe you need something better to do with your time than troll support forums looking for threads to lament ... I'm sure there are plenty of spelling mistakes on Wikipedia needing to be corrected!

ABAP access to Twitter

Hi forum!
We have an app that post twits from the ERP when a problem occurs.
On june 30th, the basic authorization of Twitter's API will shut down and we'll have to use Oauth protocol (Oauth.net) to use Twitter's API.
Do you know how to interact with this protocol from ABAP?.

Hi,
it looks like there is no OAuth library for ABAP right now. It would be nice community project. Anyway, as a workaround you can implement your functionality in different language (check http://oauth.net/code/) and call it via OS command (SM69 & SM49).

Design view in FB 4.5 not working

I have multiple projects that when viewed in FB 4, show in design view perfectly. I have custom skinning and it all looks like it should.
I moved these projects over to FB 4.5, and they all look terrible. It basically makes the design view unusable.
I have a Flex 4 project with spark components and spark skinning which shows up correctly, but all my mx projects with classic mx skinning does not show up at all.
Suggestions?

Trying to connect the data service with the url he gives (http://search.twitter.com/trends.json)
returns 404 not found... URL changed since tutorial was made maybe? I dont know?
So went to twitter here (https://dev.twitter.com/docs/api/1/get/trends) and used this
(http://api.twitter.com/1/trends.json)
and was connected via flashbuilder test. ok good.
The tutorial has me set the name of the app in the properties dialouge under common as "twitter trends" then
continue on, and set debug configurations then run.
The app never connects..... and allways shows.. "Home View" as the title.??( I named the app twitter trends in the wizaed setup and in properties )
I am sure you can tell by now I am new to flash builder!
Also Red Circle with X in gutter.. shows within the view file's source page, (not the application File) stating--- "Cannot resolve attribute 'viewActive' for component type spark.components.View". this occurs after trying to insert viewActive="refresh()" into the <s:view> tag, in which the tutorial calls for this to be done to refresh the page view when using the "back control" in the app.(switching views)
4.5 returns red X error saying.. parse error.. must be inside <fx:declaration> tag... so I put it in there, and
4.5 returns error ... cannot follow <s: callresponder>.(which is inside the declaration tag) so I moved it between the </fx:script tag>
and the <fx:Declarations> tag> and still the same error statement....huh...it is not inside the declarations tag anymore and still in the s:view tag's scope, just lower in the page.
hoping to find some kind of answer to this.

Wheres my launch triangle in FB 4.5?

Could someone please tell me why the triangle used to launch a project is not on my toolbar in Flash Builder 4.5? Instead I have a similar triangle with a red tool box and a tool tip that reads External Tools. I just imported my project from Flash Builder 4.0 and have no way to launch it. Where is the green launch triangle?

Adding multiple locales to TwitterTrends mobile sample - not working

Hi All,
I have been having trouble adding support for muliple locales in my application so I desided to try it out with TwitterTrends sample application. Should be easy, but not working for me...
What I did:
1. Add locale folder under assets with an en_US sub folder
          src/assets/locale/en_US
2. Create a properties file for en_US and save to src/assets/locale/en_US
     src/assets/locale/en_US/twittertrends.properties
3. Add a single resource key for the home view in 'twittertrends.properties'
     views.home.title=Twitter Trends
4. Update the TwitterTrendsHome.mxml to use fetch the title from the properties file
     title="{resourceManager.getString( 'twittertrends', 'views.home.title' )}"
5. Add the locale folder to the applications source path, I did this by modifying the additional compilter args for Flash Builder:
     -locale en_US -source-path=assets/locale/{locale}
Result:
No title is displayed..
I am not sure what I did wrong. Any help is much appreciated.
Has anyone else seen/not seen this issue?

Try adding
<fx:Metadata>
    [ResourceBundle("twittertrends")
</fx:Metadata>
The problem is that the compiler isn't smart enough to tell that you're using the 'twittertrends' resource bundle unless you tell it so via [ResourceBundle] metadata. It doesn't try to analyze the ActionScript code inside of databinding expressions to determine what parameters you are passing to ResourceManager functions, etc.
If instead of databinding you use the @Resource() compiler directive, as in
title="@Resource('twittertrends', 'views.home.title')"
then it should be able to figure this out without the [ResourceBundle] metadata. But this way of doing it doesn't support switching the locale at runtime.

ADL different from Device. DPI?

I'm trying to compile this adobe example: http://www.adobe.com/devnet/flex/articles/twitter-trends.html
on desktp and on a physical device but the 2 versions are a lot different: the apps has its content very smaller respect to the desktopn one.
Because the Flash Builder device repository is not updated frequently, I've manually added manually devices taking the data from here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_displays_by_pixel_density
The device I'm using for testing is the LG Optimus Dual (2X outside Italy) so I've added these data to the devices: 480 x 800, PPI 233.
When I test on ADL the fonts and all the application looking is nice (big fonts, big pictures), when I build the .apk and install on the real device the resulting app has all smaller (it looks like 1/2 smaller), just as example it looks more similar to the result of Samsung Galaxy Tab on ADL.
I've not changed anything in the example files, what am I doing wrong?

I have seen this before and a partial/full erase will not resolve the issue. The issue is that the phone as been incorrectly setup and needs to have the network reprovision back on the device. Your sprint store should be able to do this. If not then you can call into sprint and request to speak with advanced technical support and ask them do a network reprovision on your account and tell them why.

As far what gets removed for a Partial erase. Out of the things listed only text messages would be lost. A Full erase will remove everything from the USB drive. So pictures and files will be removed.
The Palm Profile saves data such as Contacts, calendar, notes, and tasks. Also saves settings for email accounts. It does not save passwords due to security reasons. Lastly any programs you bought though the app catalog or even free apps are reinstalled to the device.

Updated to iOS5, now ipod says i'm in China

I updated my ipod to iOS5, and now my ipod says I'm in Shanghai, China.
I'm in the US.
The time, weather, and twitter trend list are all set to Shanghai. I even tried the locate my ipod thing and it said my ipod is in China, lol.
I know I can set the time manually, and I did, but everything else is messed up and it's bothering me. I never had this problem before I updated to iOS5.
Anyone know how I can fix this?

The iPod gets your location from identifying your router and then checking its (Apple's) database for the location in the router. If your router is not in its database there is nothing you can do to get it correctly entered. Shanghai may be the default location for routers not in the database. Apple will eventually scan your area and get your router into the database. Try taking your ipod to a site with a public wi-fi source. Connect to the wi-fi and see if your location works there.

FB 4.5.1 problem installing iOS application

I have gone through one of the Adobe tutorials to create the Twitter Trends mobile application using FB 4.5.1. I then went through the well-documented process to install this app on my iPhone (signing up as an Apple developer, setting up the phone, etc). I am able to produce the .ipa file needed to install the app on my iPhone. However, when trying to install via iTunes, I get the following error:
The app "<appname>" was not installed on the iPhone "<iPhone>" because it is not compatible with this iPhone.
Has anyone seen this error before? The iOS is up to date (4.2.1) as is my version of Flashbuilder.

So sad ... guess I can't read. Need to trade this thing up anyway.
