Two days highlighted in Month view

When I use iCal, the current date is blue, but so is yesterday, but in a *lighter blue*. I've tried getting rid of this, but haven't been successful. No biggie, just a pain. Thanks!

TD,
Often iCal display problems can be rectified by refreshing the iCal plist file. Quit iCal and navigate to your Macintosh HD/Users/yourusername/Library/Preferences Folder, and find the com.apple.iCal.plist file. Drag that file to your desktop, log out/in or restart and let us know what happens.

  • View Outlook Calendar on iPhone In Day, Week, Or Month Views--NOT As A List

I apologize in advance if this has been asked already but couldn't find the answer after an extensive search.
My question is, after syncing my Outlook calendar to the iPhone, how can I view my appointments other than as a list in the iPhone? I would like to view my appointments in either day, week, or month views as opposed to only knowing what my next two or three appointments are. To me it just seems like a simple setting I'm overlooking somewhere. I appreciate any help you can afford
    Thanks in advance,
    -V5

*iPhone calendar views are a joke!*
My 90's Palm Vx had far more usable views via Pimlico Software. The gray scale display with poor resolution was able to show one or even two weeks with appointment texts.
What does iPhone have? List view is the best there is. One sees all appointments with only just scrolling. Day view is terrible. The whole day should be visible without scrolling for it to be at least somewhat efficient. Now one has to first select a day with arrows and after that scroll thru the day and after that select another day and scroll again. No way. Month view is very poorly designed! The grid takes way too much space and who decided to put the appointment list in the bottom of the screen when one's index finger blocks it if sliding thru days in the grid!!! Oh man!!! Unlock the landscape view and please make the grid a little bit smaller and please place the appointment list on the left or at least on the right side. And make its font way smaller! No point in seeing two appoinments without scrolling.
iPhone's wonderful screen would be able to show one or two weeks with written appointments in a list like manner especially landscape. I mean seven columns titled Mo-Su and all appointments listed in that day's column.
Hopefully SDK will let someone else do it if Apple won't.
And we have to get to copy appointments and paste them to other days also. I am spending 30 min writing the same info one at a time to our monthly plan. Everyone else is already having a cup of coffee.

  • Multi day events in Month View.

Multi day events in month view only display on the first day. Checking all day event fixes this, but none of my multi day events are in fact all day. If I sync with my iphone, it does mark both days on the multi day event in month view.
In week view they display correctly, but I like to have the month drawn out.
I am surprised to come across this hang up. Other calendars I have used always displayed such events across the month view.
Is this a bug or lack of feature?

Try setting it as a recurring event (yeah, I know, it's not a great solution, but it gets the job done)

  • ICal multi-day (not all day) event  in Month view not displayed over days

What is it when I have an event that starts on a Wednesday and 4:00pm and goes to Friday at 6:00pm (not clicked as an All Day Event), (in Month view) the only day showing the event is the first day?! Shouldn't it show it over the course of the 3 days!? Outlook does that (I can't believe I just referenced Outlook in an Apple Discussion... in a positive light no less). Is it a setting?

Yes, Apple any help for this would be great. The only way I've come to work around is to use multiple events. So for a flight out of town would be one event, and the return another. I would create a third event then for the actual time out of town. There must be some way to easily fix this.

  • Dots Every Day in Calendar Month View

I have the dots indicating an event on every day of the monthly view in the calendar even though there aren't any events on those dates. I am syncing with Outlook 2003 on Windows XP. I have read through posts here and:
    - Had some birthdays set up in the contacts but removed them
    - Do not have any events where the end time is earlier than the start time
I have tried many different things including turning calendar syncing off, replacing all of the info for calendars, etc. but cannot get it fixed.
Any other suggestions? How can I delete the info on the Calendar. Turning off syncing doesn't do it. Do I need to do a full reset?
    Thanks.

Thanks. Your suggestion did the trick.
I assumed it marked every date in perpetuity with a dot. I went backwards until I found a month without a dot. After a couple of dozen clicks on the back arrow, I realized if I held it down it would go faster.
Went back to 1971 and found an entry for a birth date. The interesting thing is, is that it was in October. November looked fine and then in December, the dots started occurring. Deleted the entry and everything looks good again.
    Thanks.

  • 3 Dots in Corner Of Day Box in Month View

When in the month view of iCal several days of every month have 3 periods/dots in the upper left hand corner of the day box that can't be deleted. Ever see this and can they be erased.
    Thanks

My problem is related, and I would like to display these. Is there an override? There seems to be at least 1/2 of each daily box empty.
ical: show all-day events on monthly view?
I use iCal to track rentals in a couple of vacation apartments I manage. I have separate calendars for each, and more for personal items, etc., and a typical event would cover 7 days as an all-day event. When I checkmark 4 calendars, only 3 events will show up in the monthly view, the other(s) being designated as 3 dashes instead of the info (---). Is there a way to override this so I can quickly see what is booked for an entire month? Switching back and forth to weekly view doesn't cut it, when I need to answer availability questions quickly.

  • Current date not highlighted in month view

I currently am using iCal 3.0.8 on OSX 10.5.8 on Intel. The current date is not highlighted in month view. It was highlighted on 10.4 on my G4.
Is this a new feature - or, am I missing a setting?

It's definitely highlighted, but it's just a much paler shade of blue than earlier versions of the operating system, so if you're looking at your screen from the wrong angle, it looks like nothing is highlighted at all. The only solution to this is to do what I did, which is switch to the OUTSTANDING calendar program BusyCal from busymac.com, which is like "iCal Pro". They got everything right about BusyCal that Apple should have gotten right themselves in iCal. The date highlighting is extremely visible. BusyCal syncs with iCal, so your data will instantly appear in BusyCal as soon as you open it for the first time. I've been using BusyCal for about 3 months now, and it is absolutely awesome. I will NEVER go back to iCal ever again. I can't say NEVER loud enough. Apple completely screwed up iCal, whereas the BusyMac guys got everything right about BusyCal.

  • Making An Event Two Lines Long In Month View

    Hey Everyone,
I only use iCal in month view and most of the time when I enter an event that has a long name it shows up as two lines, so I am able to read it all. However, sometimes it only goes for a single line and cuts off the end of the event title. How do I change this to show two lines?
    Thanks!!

I have the same question. One workaround is to copy an existing two-line event to the day that you want to create a new event. Then edit that to change it to the event name you want. This seems to work even though just typing a new name truncates it to one line.
I hope someone can provide a more elegant solution.

  • How display two-line descriptions in month view

In the iCal version in Snow Leopard, it was possible to display a two-line description of an event in month view. Is there a way to do that in the version included with OS 10.9 and 10.10? The descriptions now are so truncated it can be hard to understand what they refer to. Also, the text of the descriptions in month view no longer is in the color of the calendar they are assigned to (except for all-day events). Instead, the descriptions are marked with tiny dots. This makes it much more difficult to distinguish between event types. Apple seems to be changing its apps for some misguided sense of aesthetics instead of emphasizing utility.

I have the same question. One workaround is to copy an existing two-line event to the day that you want to create a new event. Then edit that to change it to the event name you want. This seems to work even though just typing a new name truncates it to one line.

  • All-Day Events in Month View

When I have more than two all-day events (Just one day) that are in different categories in one day, only two show. The others are hidden and you have to open the week or day calendar to view them. When the events are regular events there is not a problem, but I would like to know how to be able to view three all-day events or more from the month view. Is this even possible?

Same problem here; if I EVER find out the solution I will post it here.

  • Timed muti day event in month view

Can someone please help. I need help with the 'month' display of iCal. If I have a multi-day event, iCal shows solid bar between the start day and the end day.
However, if a start time on the first day of the multi-day event is entered, it is only this first day which shows up in the month view. There is no solid bar covering all the days and at only a glance of the 'month' view, it looks like the multi-day event is actually just a single-day event.
    Can someone please help.
    Thanks

If it has a start time iCal doesn't consider it a multi-day event, so in month view only displays it on a single day, which is definitely misleading. You should probably tell Apple's OS X Feedback about it.

  • Why won't iCal display multi-day events in month view?

This is frustrating. If someone sends me a calendar event that lasts multiple days from Calendar software that ACTUALLY WORKS  (hint hint hint Google Calendar, Outlook), and if I accept this event, it only displays the FIRST DAY of the event in iCal's month view. It should put a solid bar through every date included in the duration of the event. How is it that this has not been fixed yet???

    Bug or design flaw?
Try setting it as a recurring event (yeah, I know, it's not a great solution, but it gets the job done)

  • How can you view multi day events in month view without having to check the "all-day" box?

I have multi-day events that I would like to be able to view in the month view.  The only way that I have found to do this is to make the event a "all-day" event.  Is there another way to view these events in month view, or am I stuck?

It shows multi-day events that are "all-day" events.
But for a non "all-day" event that happens to span multiple days, it only shows the first day

  • Showing more All-Day Events in Month View?

Even with the iCal window maximized, when more than 4 All-Day events take place on the same day, Month View shows "..." instead of the usual All-Day colour bar, even if there's still half the space left in 'box' for that day....
To be clear: it shows the first 4 colour bars for the corresponding all-day events, then "..." at the top to show there are more, you have to switch to Week or Day view to see them
I looked at the plist and can't figure what could be changed.... any tips? It would really be convenient to see the maximum possible number of All-Day events even in Month view.
    Merci!

    iBook G4   Mac OS X (10.4.5)

Unfortunately, it appears that this is intentional. The iCal Help file states:
"If you're in Month view and you see three dots (an ellipsis) at the top of the day, there is not enough room to show all the events on that day. To see all the events in Day view, double-click the ellipsis."
I suspect that half of the box is saved for all-day events and half for timed events. On my iMac G3, I get three dots and 3 events, on my G5 with a much larger screen I get three dots and 4 events. If anyone figures out how to alot more space to all-day events, it would be a big help.

  • Current day not highlighted in month view!

after updating to: OS X 10.4.9, the current day is not highlighted in the calendar view in ical. the current day is highlighted in the day and week views, just not the month. I cant find any way of turning it on. Has anyone else had this problem after uptating the system OS to 10.4.9? any help would be appreciated. it is quite annoying.

I've found a solution to this problem that has been bugging me for months. As others have reported, the "today" highlight in iCal had disappeared. I also noticed a similar problem when using Gmail. Gmail highlights read mail with a blue background on the mail item in the main list. This also disappeared. Strangely, I would see both of these highlights reappear for a moment when I did fast user-switching to a different account. Just before the Mac would switch to another account, the screen would darken and those highlights would appear. This seemed to indicate that the problem wasn't with the applications but rather with the system.
Here's how I fixed this: I went to the Display system preferences. I selected the Color tab. THe display profile was Cinema Display. I selected another profile (in my case I chose Adobe RGB (1998)). Immediately, the missing highlights reappeared. I then reselected Cinema Display and the highlights remained (although slightly lighter).
Somehow, the display profile got changed enough to wash out those light blue highlights, but switching profiles brought them back.
This worked for me on my Apple Cinema LCD display. I don't know if this will work on another brand LCD display or on a CRT. But at least I've found a way to bring these highlights back. I'll be curious if this solves anyone else's problem.
