Two node installation with 2 concurrent managers..

Need your help. I have 12.1.1 Two node installation on Linux 5.9 with 64 bit.
Linux2- Database server + Concurrent manager
Linux1- Apps Node
Port - 8002 (port pool -2)
on my app node - linux1, I have 2 directories <SID>_linux1 and <SID>_linux2. First one is for primary apps node and second one is for 2nd concurrent manager. It is a shared directory structure. I have 2 questions:
1) If I run the autoconfig on Linux1, I can run all the services and connect to apache. However, If I run the autconfig on linux2, I will not be able to connect to web server (for a short time request will be sent to Linux1 and then it gets forwarded to Linux2 - even though Linux2 is not app server).
2) How do I run the second concurrent manager on LInux2? After I run the 2 concurrent manager, how do I test both concurrent managers are working?
Your help is much appreciated.

Hi Hussein,
Thank you for the info. I was wondering whether the Linux2 concurrent manager was installed correctly or not. I went to xml file and found these entries and it made me think, it didn't install correctly because only concurrent manager should have been yes and the rest should be no. Isn't it? If it is wrong, how do I correct this?

  • How do i licence a two node RAC with ASM infrastructure

AM trying to estimate the licensing of two node RAC with ASM as storage manager and GRID control as management tool

    Hi,
Oracle license depends on lot of things, Edition of Oracle your running standard or enterprise, the optional packges you need and etc.
    Read through http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E11882_01/license.112/e10594/editions.htm#BABDJGGI
also if you license named users or processor. You can get the price for the from online oracle store

  • Is it possible to create a two node cluster with SQL server 2012 STD on node1 and SQL Server 2008 ENT on node2 on a Windows server 2012?

    Hi All,
Is it possible to create a two node cluster with SQL server 2012 STD on node1 and SQL Server 2008 ENT on node2 on a Windows server 2012?
    aa

I think you are confused with the way cluster is installed. Installing SQL on cluster is a two step process. On first node you create a new SQL cluster and on second node you need "AddNode" action.
Same edition media has to be used in above two operation.
you can install two separate instances with one enterprise and one standard.

  • 2012 R2 Hyper-V Cluster two node design with abundance 1Gbps NICs and FC storage

    Hello All,
First post so please be gentle!
We are currently in the process of building/testing the upgrade of two node 2012 R2 Hyper-V cluster.
Two hosts built with Datacentre 2012 R2 which will host approx. 30 VM's.
Shared storage will be fault tolerant FC- connection.
    10, (yes 10!) 1Gbps NICs are available, Intel i350.
trying to decide on teaming interfaces using native LBFO and the 2008 'style' of using un-converged networking, or teaming up most interfaces and using QoS.  Can find many/numerous examples of using 10Gbps NICs and converged, however 10Gbps networking
    isn't an option right now.
    recommendations appreciated.
    thanks

    Hi Sir,
    >>trying to decide on teaming interfaces using native LBFO and the 2008 'style' of using un-converged networking, or teaming up most interfaces and using QoS.
The following link detailed the teaming configuration and it's applicable scenario (server 2012):
    http://www.aidanfinn.com/?p=14039
Also please refer to the document for 2012R2 LBFO :
    http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=40319
In server 2012R2 , there is a new setting "Dynamic" for "load banacing mode " and it is recommended to use Dynamic for "Load banacing mode" :
If you can accept 1GB max bandwidth for each VM I would suggest you to use LBFO mode : Independent/dynamic/None(All adapter active)  .

  • Seeing event 1564 causing failure in two node cluster, with file witness on same subnet (at same, low latency, high bandwidth site)

    Hello all,
Yesterday, we faced an issue early in the day that our cluster removed all active nodes (exchange 2010 DAG). and the root cause was because we lost contact with the alternate cluster node (over a WAN link), and concurrently lost connectivity to the file
witness share (event id 1564 was recorded).
The odd thing is that the cluster should be tolerant to having the second node be unreachable, as long as the file witness share is reachable by the node.  Being that the file witness share is located at the same physical site (possibly inside the same
hypervisor host), the idea that the share is ever unreachable is very interesting!
The system engineering team has adjusted the CrossSubnetDelay and CrossSubnetThreshold values, but I do not think this will solve the problem of the file witness server being inaccessible by the node.
    [PS] C:\>cluster /prop | Select-String "Subnet"
    D CONTOSO-DAG CrossSubnetDelay 4000 (0xfa0) # not default
    D CONTOSO-DAG CrossSubnetThreshold 10 (0xa) # not default
    D CONTOSO-DAG PlumbAllCrossSubnetRoutes 0 (0x0)
    D CONTOSO-DAG SameSubnetDelay 1000 (0x3e8) # default
    D CONTOSO-DAG SameSubnetThreshold 5 (0x5) # default
What can I further investigate in relation to the file witness share being inaccessible?  Are there any settings that we can adjust to make sure the node is more tolerant to file witness share availability?  There may be a variety of things occurring
on the file witness share server, like VSS snapshots, etc.  But none of these things are expected to be interferring with the operations of (1) the OS, or (2) the availability and accessibility of any share.
    Thanks,
    Matt

    Hi mbrownnyc,
The quorum configuration in a failover cluster determines the number of failures that the cluster can sustain while still remaining online.
If an additional failure occurs beyond this threshold, the cluster will stop running.
A common perception is that the reason why the cluster will stop running if too many failures occur is to prevent the remaining nodes from taking on too many workloads and having the hosts be overcommitted.
Generally multi-site clusters have two sites with an equal number of nodes at each site, giving an even number of nodes.
By adding this additional vote at a 3rd site, there is an odd number of votes in the cluster, at very little expense compared to deploying a 3rd site with an active cluster node and writable DC. Therefore when your cluster node can connect the witness
and got the higher vote, that node will keep running when others node fail.
Please offer use more information about your environment, such as your server edition and your network nic advanced configuration. You can install all the recommend update

    Node 2:
    Forms + Web
While doing Installation in Node1, I have selected the following services in APplications to enable for CM and Reports
    1. Batch Processing
For Node2, I have given the following for Forms and Web
    1. Root Processes
    2. Web Entry Point Services
    3. Web Application Services
    4. Other
Please let me know, if I was wrong?

    Hi,
As per the installation document (Page 2-22) ..
When installing, be aware of the following important service dependencies:
When you select Root Services, the Web services are automatically selected as well. This is because Web Entry Point Services, Web Application Services, and Root Services must all be installed on the same node.

  • How does Dynamic Quorum work for a two Node DAG

    Hi All,
I have a two node DAG with a FS witness server. One of the node is 'down' (I have kept it like that), cluster has quorum and all services are online.
What I'm trying to understand is if a node's State=Down, isn't the Dynamic Quorum Group Manager suppose to trigger and set the DynamicWeight to '0' for that server.
In my case its not doing so, please let me know if this the way it is, or something is not quite right and I need to fix it.
    Troubleshooting info below:
PS C:\Windows\system32> Get-ClusterNode | ft name, dynamicweight, state, nodeweight,id -AutoSize
    Name DynamicWeight State NodeWeight Id
    exch1 1 Down 1 1

This quorum model will be able to sustain failures of 1 node(s) if the file share witness remains available
and 0 node(s) when the file share witness goes offline or fails.
This quorum configuration can be changed using the Configure Cluster Quorum wizard. This wizard can be started from the Failover
Cluster Manager console by selecting the cluster name in the left hand pane, then in the right "actions" pane selecting "More Actions..." and then selecting "Configure Cluster Quorum Settings...".
    When all servers were up
node/2+1 = 2/2+1=2 required for quorum and we have 3 votes
When 1 server gone 1/2+1=1 quorum should recalculate to this. But its still considering 3 votes out of 1down server+1up server+1witness. Ideally I should be able to loose the witness too aftersome time  and still maintain quorum(unlike what
    the validation test is saying).

    Hi Simon,
    Thanks for your response.
I have done some study, testing and what I figured out is this.
Split brain syndrome is prevented by always requiring a majority of the DAG members (and in the case of DAGs with an even number of member, the DAG witness server) to be available and interacting for the DAG to be operational.
All DAGs with an even number of members must use a witness server.
Hence a 3 node cluster behaves differently than a 2 node. Exchange 2013 DAG kind of forces you to have a witness server always.
You can specify only a name for the DAG and leave the Witness server and
Witness directory fields empty. In this scenario, the task will search for a Client Access server that doesn't have the Mailbox server role installed. It will automatically create the default witness directory and share on that Client Access
server and configure the DAG to use that server as its witness server.
    You can
'overridde the quorum configuration using Windows2012 Failover Cluster Manager', however using it to modify a DAG is not recommended.
If you open Failover Cluster Manager in Administrative Tools, you’ll find the Database Availability Group (DAG), cluster networks and so on. Don’t try to manage the DAG
using the Failover Cluster Manager, as this isn’t supported. The Exchange Management Console (EMC) or the Exchange Management Shell (EMS) are the only ways to manage the DAG.
Unless you’re doing a DC switchover and/or being assisted by Microsoft Support services (premier)
    Now back to the point:
When we are left with 2 nodes and 1 witness server for Exchange HA. The Dynamic Quorum functionality kind of stops dealing with it. As 2nodes/2+1=2votes this means we need to have atleast 2 votes to have quorum.
So if we assume Dynamic Quorum triggers and removes 2 votes, 1 from Witness and 1 from nodeB.
Then the new formula we have is 1node/2+1=1vote which would mean this would allow us to loose both the witness and the nodeB. And nodeA will be the last man standing as in this
    article.
However having this scenario in a two node cluster brings in the split-brain problem. As if there is a full disconnect of nodeA site and nodeB+Witness can talk, they form quorum , nodeB mounts the database. Which is undesirable.
Hence Dynamic Quorum keeps the votes to 3 in a 2nodes+1witness scenario contrary to what is expected and in turn keeps everything running fine till we have 2votes available, just like 2010,Windows2008 days.

    Satyajit

How You imagine to upgrade to 4.5 without changing kernel?
    There are 2 possibilities:
    1. Update all redhat packages, exclude kernel - system will have latest patches, except not the latest kernel and as a result version will not be 4.5
    2. Update all redhat packages including kernel - system will have latest patches and will be upgraded to 4.5.

  • Concurrent Managers on Multiple nodes

    Hi,
    We have this setup
    2 DB server - RAC & ASM
2 APPS server - which has loand balancing through IP configuration.
Now we have requirement of having concurrent managers in the DB server. I am bit confused here
    1) suppose if i install cm tier on both DB servers and ask them to communicate to RAC DB server, IF any request comes , how this will distribute the work between two servers.
    2) do we have to configure anything ?
    3) Is there any entry is available in config files with respect to CONCURRENT HOST NAME. How the values are populating in FND_NODES table.
    4) am i thinking two complex, is there any other solution to achiev this - Basically i have to have concurrent manager in both DB server and work needs to be shared automatically.
    Waiting for your valuable inputs.
    Cheers!
    Venki.

Forgive my brief answers; I'm headed to bed and don't have time to dig up full references. :-)
As a side note, in the future, please start a separate thread. Your environment and requirements are different from the original poster, and replies may be confusing, both to future readers, and to those trying to help.
    1) Is it possible to configure PCP keeping both the CM on appsTier in non-RAC env. ?Yes.
    2) If yes, will both the CM work at the same time or one at a time? In other words, it can distribute the CM load among the CM tiers? All the CMs will run at the same time, managed by ICM and GSM.
    3) If yes, please provide me a guideline or any special instruction. You note below that you won't be using a shared application tier filesystem. You might want to reconsider this architecture. At the very least, you will want to share the log and output directories for the concurrent managers. Life will be much easier if all nodes can see the same log and output files. :)
Take a look at section 3.12 of
Note 388577.1: Using Oracle 10g Release 2 Real Application Clusters and Automatic Storage Management with Oracle E-Business Suite Release 12. Although you're not running RAC, this section of the document explains the various parameters needed to configure PCP.
Also, if you haven't already, review the sections on PCP in the Oracle E-Business Suite System Administrator's Guide - Configuration
Since, I'm planning to go with 2 appsTier nodes (non-shared, local filesystem), I would like to go for LoadBalancing configuration as well.
    Refered Note: 380489.1 - Using Load-Balancers with Oracle E-Business Suite Release 12
Section 2.4 Using Domain Name Server (DNS) Load Balancing with Single Web Entry Point
Is the above DNS Load Balancing is only for web services? what about other services (forms,CM)? Should work for Forms as well. CMs mostly care about where the database is, not the web/forms entry point, so the Load Balancer doesn't come into play for the CMs ...at least, I'm pretty sure that's true. It's late. :)
Once LoadBalancing is done, then is it possible to go for E-Biz integration with OID/SSO?Yes. See Integrating Oracle E-Business Suite Release 12 with 10g AS Oracle Internet Directory and Oracle Single Sign-On

  • How to migrate a two node ISE installation to a six node ISE installation

How do we migrate from a two node ISE installation where the primary ISE has IP address A and the
secondary has IP address B to a six node ISE distributed installation with one primary admin ISE,
one secondary admin ISE, one primary monitoring ISE, one secondary monitoring ISE and
one PSN ISE with IP address A and finaly one PSN ISE with IP address B?
It is a production environment so we want to do the transition with minimal service impact.

I would assume your current setup is
Node 1 - Primary Admin, Secondary Monitor, PSN
Node 2 - Secondary Admin, Primary Monitor, PSN
Here is a high-level overview of what I think should be done. Keep in mind that it is only my opinion and ultimately I would recommend working with TAC to validate the process to ensure there is minimal impact.
TAKE A BACKUP of Configuration and Operational data.
    Install the additional 4 nodes.
Register one as the secondary monitor.  This should remove the secondary monitoring role from the other node.
Register another node as the primary monitor. This should remove the primary monitoring role from the other node.
Register the last two nodes as administration nodes in the same process, doing the secondary admin node first, then finally the primary admin node.  This should leave the remaining PSN personas installed as the only persona on the original admin nodes.
