Two presentation Servers on Same Machine

I'm deploying my OBIEE in Oracle App Server on LINUX. I'd like to add a second presentation server pointing to a common RPD/BI Server. I see the following options:
•     Using the same container I would just deploy the analytics folder a second time with a new name
•     Create a second container and install presentation server (disabling or skipping the BI server)
•     Install a new instance of OAS on the machine and install presentation server (disabling or skipping the BI server)
Got any recommendations or best practices for me?

For any interested - this is what I got from someone else who has done this - I will be trying this in the near future. I'll remind myself to update you on it.
Choose options one - redeploy again into the same container, using a unique web.mxl file for each specifying different set of ports, use two different instanceconfig.xml files and modify the run-saw.sh to start/stop both instances.

  • How to start 2 RMI servers on same machine ??

    Hello friends,
I am developing databackup project USING RMI
i want to start servers on same machine and client may be on different machine.
we tried it used as on different port . but it stil not working.
so can u provide me solution for that ,
how to start that two server on the same machine. ?
    reply me soon
    thanks

    Ghanshyam,
It is possible to run multiple RMI servers as long as the port is different. For instance if you run the RMI daemon using port 2700:
rmid -port 2700and RMI daemon using port 2800:
rmid -port 2800You will see these ports open if you do an nmap or netstat -aMake sure you bind your separate RMI instances on separate ports when calling Naming.bind()Anthony

  • Can i share music and photos between two users on the same machine?

How can I share my music and photos between two users on the same machine?

Thank you Joe - I tried this but it's only showing a teensy amount of music - the stuff on the second users account as opposed to the giagntic library on the 'main' account. I actually went to a Genius Bar and they said that apple doesn't really want you to share music between accounts - parents don't want to hear their kids music etc. Which seemed strange, but it might be the case sadly   Thanks anyway!

  • 2 Application Servers on Same machine

    Hi
I have installed 2 Applicaton Servers on same machine for getting dual language Support 'English as well as Arabic'. Both Application Servers have the same Report Server Name, now i want to rename or change the report server name of one application server.
    how can i do?
    Rename Report Server's name
    Thanks
    Najeeb.

    Hi Najeeb,
Which version of AS you have?.
I think the url which I sent it to U will help you to solve your problem.
If you decide to install new Rep. server (version 10g) U can do it on the same server but in another directory. the new one will have different ports than the old one's.
    Cheers,

  • Deployoing two FE Servers in same Ent FE Pool across two datacenters

Couple of questions around Enterprise FE Pool, hope to get feedback.
1/Has any one had the experience of deploying two FE Servers in same Ent FE Pool across two datacenters?  Any experience you can share?
2/What is the network requirements among FE Servers in the same FE Pool?  Such as LAN subnet, network latency, jitter, ...
    Thanks
    Albert
    Albert

    Albert,
#1 - officially no for Lync Server 2013 core setup. Site level redundancy is achieved with a multi-server Enterprise Pool setup + SQL Mirroring backend (optionally SQL Witness) whereas Disaster Recovery depends on Pool Pairing of liked
    pools across disparate geographical locations.
Assuming that the 2 datacentres are part of the same campus connected with each other in a high speed LAN (low latency, delays, etc.), it is indeed possible to separate, say a 6 server Enterprise Edition pool, into 2 groups of 3 servers within
the same IPv4 subnet. Depending on whether SQL Mirroring is deployed or not (and how), the reachability and availability of each "server group" may not meet the minimum number of servers required to keep the pool functional (see "Topologies
and components for Front End Servers, instant messaging, and presence in Lync Server 2013"). Hence, it may still be better to consider having 2 separate paired Enterprise or Standard Edition pools located in the 2 datacentres.
Please share with us if this helps.

  • Two versions of Developer, same machine

I need to use a single machine to access two different applications, one using Developer 2000 v4x and one using Developer v6. What is Oracle's support stance for a machine that has two different versions of Developer loaded on it? Can it work efficiently and/or effectively? How? Thanks for any help.

eg: Forms/Reports 6i can be installed in a separate ORACLE_HOME.
The Release notes lists all the Developer versions which are supported on same ORACLE_HOME.
Following are the versions of Developer which can be installed on the same ORACLE_HOME as Developer 6.0,
    1. Developer 1.6.1
    2. Developer 2.1
    Best Regards,

    Hi Rai,
Sorry about my previous message. Anyways As I was saying I'm trying to Install Developer 2.1 and Developer 6.0 in the Same machine. By default both installations are install in the same Oracle Home Directory C:\ORANT and the same registry Key ORACLE. For Develop 2.1 I have to make some changes to the Registry under the ORACLE key. How can I make this two version coexist in the same machine? What version I have to install first to have a succesfull installation?
Is there any instrucion I can reference to in the Web?
your reply will be greatly appreciated..

  • Is it OK to have two SBS Servers with same name, on different subnets but connected over a VPN?

    Hi Everyone,
I'm just about to connect up two SBS 2011 Servers with the same server name but on different subnets & domains over a VPN.
So for example both servers will have the name Server01, one would have an ip address of 192.168.85.5, the other 192.168.86.5, they both then would be connected over a VPN.
Can anyone foresee any issues with this configuration, like DNS & DHCP requests, adding new machines to the domain, mapping drives etc.
    Many thanks,
    Nick

    Hi Larry & Strike First,
Thank you for your responses. I understand that this is an unusual situation. Basically I've recently taken over the IT support for this client. The client has just had a new phone system installed
& are asking if they can speak to each office internally, which can easily be done once I setup the VPN.
However I noticed whilst looking at this further that the Server names are the same, hence my question?
Am I right in saying that providing the workstations  have a trust relationship with their own domain controllers through their individual domains on separate subnets, that hopefully there shouldn't be any DNS issues between the two domains and Servers?
I could build a new VM if you feel it would be better practice to do so?
    Many thanks for your assistance,
    Nick

  • Two JREs in the same machine

    Hi.,
I had problems with two different version of JRE.I have an applet that works well in JRE1.4. Now I had a different applet that will be working only on 1.2.x.Is it possible to switch the JREs depending on the context through the html(where the applets are embedded).I know through control panel we can change the JRE setting manually.

No - you have to adjust PATH and CLASSPATH, JAVA_HOME, etc environment variables to point to the desired version locations and libraries. If you have any other hard-coded locations/files/directories in your code that is version-specific, they'll also need changing.
This is most easily done by building a script (.bat file, etc) that would be run prior to the applet startup to adjust the machine environment and parameters.

  • WLS61-WinNT:  Admin/Managed servers on same machine with NodeManager?

    Hi,
I'm trying to set up a development environment with a Admin server
that controls at least one Managed server. I can start the Admin
server (7001) successfully, and "startNodeManager" seems to work fine
on the default port 5555. No clustering is being done. Only
    DefaultWebApp is available.
I'm starting "setEnv" and "startWebLogic" from
    C:\dev\bea\wlserver6.1\config\devdomain
    and "startNodeManager" from
    C:\dev\bea\wlserver6.1\config
I have a Machine, "devmachine", assigned to port 5555 (thus attaching
it to the NodeManager) using the default config files.
    I have 2 Servers created:
"adminserver", which listens on port 7001 (no great surprise), and
"devserver", which listens on port 7011. I have also tried
    "devserver" on port 5555.
    DefaultWebApp has chosen both Servers.
When I go to the Console, right-click on "devserver", and select
"Start this server...", I get the "Are you sure?" page.
Clicking "Yes", I get messages on the "startNodeManager" console:
    <Date><Info><Nodemanager@localhost:5555><WindowsProcessControl: online
successfully invoked on server 'devserver', pid: 488>
This sounds good, but the console browser returns:
    java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: weblogic/Server
    Exception in thread "main"
    <Date><Info><Nodemanager@localhost:5555><WindowsProcessControl: online
successfully invoked on server 'devserver', pid: 488>
StartNodeManager's output confirms that "weblogic.jar" is in the
    classpath.
    It's location is: .\lib\weblogic.jar
Clicking on the Servers branch confirms that 'devserver:7011' is not
running, and that 'adminserver:7001' is running.
I believe that I'm making some sort of simple configuration error, but
I have been unable to find any documentation that clarifies this
    problem.
Has anyone gotten this Admin/Managed combination to work on 1 physical
machine? If so, am I simply not matching ports in the config.xml file
correctly? Am I missing something obvious?
    Many Thanks!
    Jeff

    Hi,
It may not be obvious, but a clean install seemed to solve it. A
wacky config issue? The world may never know...or care. :>

  • Possible to have two different QT on same machine?

    Hello there
I need iTunes 6 for my iPod and QT pro 6 for my work. On the same computer.
    Any suggestions?
Thanks in advance for your help!
    Gen
      Windows XP Pro

ok. Know what? It worked! Both quicktime running, and I can access my iTunes library again. I should have done that one year ago!! BUT!
I uninstalled everything, and installed a 6.5.2 QT standalone on my external HD, registered and changed the name.
What happened is that the new QT player I installed with iTunes installed itself directly on my HD without asking after recognising the old version. Which is a bit stupid, in my case (my HD is not on all the time). Should I uninstall everything, and reinstall on C:?
Basically if I backup my C: disk with ghost or whatever and if I have to use a recovery, both programs will not be included, am I right?
One step closer to the final answer...

Both applications (ERP 12.0.6 and ERP 12.1.3) on the apps node and
Both ERP’s databases on the db node
    thanks&regards,
    sree

1-     Both applications (ERP 12.0.6 and ERP 12.1.3) on the apps node and
2-     Both ERP’s databases on the db node
two applications on one node and two databases on other node is it possible? It is possible.
Make sure you do the following:
    - Have an OS/Update which supports both 11i/R12
    - Install all OS pre-req. software and packages as per the 11i/R12 docs
    - Install the 11i instance as per the 11i installation doc
    - Install the R12 instance as per the R12 installation doc (make sure you lay down the software in a separate ORACLE_HOME(s) than the one used by 11i instance).

  • Can two database work on same machine

Can Oracle 9 instance and Oracle 10g instance be used on the same windows system symultaneously

    To the OP:
    <br>
10 can listen for previous version.<br>
    <br>
    <br>
But, using a single listener will ensure that the previous version instances cannot be remotely accessed when patches are being applied to the current version. If your environment can accept using a single listener, then do as suggested. In our situation, we need to have multiple listeners at multiple versions. We have many projects which run simultaneously in development. Patching of one home cannot be permitted to affect the other projects. These are the special circumstances refered to by Paul M.
    <br>
    <br>
So, to reiterate, if you can use a single listener, then use the latest and greatest.

  • Sharing between two users on the same machine

I have read through and tried to find posts about sharing but they are all about doing so via a network. I have a desktop that my wife and I use. Each of us has out own seperate profile so that we can both keep things set the way that works for us and to keep our mail profiles seperate. The problem that I have is that I cant figure out how to have folders that both of us can access and manipulate. I would like to store all our photos on this shared directory and also to be able to have a spot where we keep filees that we both require access to. The iphoto sharing requires the primary acct holder to be logged in to have the othe user be able to access the files. Uggg..

Don't use the Sharing option in iPhoto. Instead move the iPhoto library outside of the /Users area (something like /Document/Photos) so that everyone can access it. The process is described in KB 93603, iPhoto: How to move the iPhoto Library Folder to a new location.
For iTunes follow a similar process. It is described in KB 93195, iTunes: How to share music between different accounts on a single computer.
Any documents that you want to share, place in /Documents instead of the default /Users/userName/Documents.

  • How to have two Firefox in the same machine?

I have Firefox installed from the repo (Namoroka), but I also want to have another version to use exclusively with Tor.
Downloading it from Mozilla's official website and running the executable doesn't work because it opens Namoroka. How should it be done?

You can create a 2nd profile with: firefox -ProfileManager (you have to close all firefox instances to do that)
Then, you can start a 2nd firefox with the new profile: firefox -P <profilename> -no-remote
