TYPE_SCROLL_INSENSITIVE Error

Hey guys
I've got a problem, which I can't seem to figure out.
I'm trying to fill a JTable with data. I've written two methodes to do so, one to get the rowdata and one to get the columnames.
Here's an example of one of them.

The program gives an error on the line in bold.
The only feedback i get is "java.sql.SQLException: General error"
Before you say anything, the SQL statement I use is a valid one, but it will only work when the ResultsetType = TYPE_FORWARD_ONLY.
How can I fix this?

You're probably using a non-serious JDBC driver. You could code to not need to know how
many rows there are, just collecting until done, then making your array...

    I have the same error. It can be solved by adding a xercesImpl jar to the classpath.But aren't Java5&6 supposed to have an implementation included?--nodje 

  • Why do I get an error message that says "Incompatible Types"?

    I am a newbie to Java programming. I have experience with VB.
    I am using Net Beans 6.1. I was following a sample program that shows me how to use the JDBC ODBC bridge to connect to an MS-Access file.
    I get an error message at this line:
    statement = connection.createStatement(ResultSet.TYPE_SCROLL_INSENSITIVE, ResultSet.CONCUR_READ_ONLY);
    statement was declared earlier with:
    private Connection connection;
    private Statement statement;
    private ResultSet resultSet;
    Here are my imports:

    I am also getting erros on the following 2 lines (these follow the first statement above):

    The site that has the sample does not have a forum. Any assistance you can provide would be appreciated.

    statement = connection.createStatement(ResultSet.TYPE_SCROLL_INSENSITIVE, ResultSet.CONCUR_READ_ONLY);Probably because that driver doesn't allow you to use the mix of the two parameters that you passed.

    Also .. Why using arrays instead of collections? Shifting the cursor all the way forth and back to get the count is fairly terrible.
    With regard to the problem: either there's a nasty bug in the JDBC driver used, or you actually aren't running the compiled class version of the posted code.

    Hi
    As I know, not all mehtods are supported by WebLogic. For Example for Oracle only
    a SubSet of the JDBC methods are supported (see the link http://e-docs.bea.com/wls/docs61///////oracle/API_joci.html#1070961).
    I can imagine that for Microsoft Products this is even worse.

  • Result Set Update error for Timestamp

    Hi,
    I am using Oracle 9i DB with JBDC 2.0. I want to update a record present in a Resultset. Two fields are updated from this resultset. One is string and other is timestamp. Both these fields are present in select clause of the statement. The string field is updated (String.updateString(<field name>, value)) properly in to DB (Resultset.updateRow()). But if i include timestamp field for update (Resultset.updateTimestamp(<field name>, value)), it gives me error on this line.

    I am also using jbuilder 7 with jdk 1.3.
    I am also getting the same error.
    You really only have two choice...
    1) Get a driver for your database that supports a cursor that can read forwards and backwards.
    2) Change your read algorithm/logic so you don't need to backup through it.
    3) Save the data to a value object (...like a Vector of Vectors or a Vector of Hashtables), so that you can build it with a single read through the result set, but then move back and forth through the value object in whatever way is necessary to support your business problem.

    But now the problem is i need to have five dynamic checkboxes based on my tablebut iam getting only one check box with the first value of a column in a table(First Row).
    I want to display all the five rows,even if iam giving the rs.next in while loop.
    Here ia my table structure
    Master Table
    BrandID      BrandName
    1             abc

    3             ghi
    4             jkl
    5             mno
    Iam getting the only one checkbox with abc as text,i want all the five rows checkbox.
    Plz help me out in this regard

    1. When i write the connetion string "con1=DriverManager.getConnection("jdbc:microsoft:sqlserver://ServerName:1433;*Database*=dmo1o2d",user,password);
    Then give message that Connetion is successful. But i put DatabaseName instead of Databse then give error *"java.sql.SQLException: [Microsoft][SQLServer 2000 Driver for JDBC][SQLServer]Cannot open database requested in login 'testcq'*. Login fails.
    2. if i run query like this select * from testcq.sa.test then gives *error "Msg 208, Level 16, State 1, Line 1*
    Invalid object name 'testcq.sa.test'." from MS SQL server management studio
    tescq is Databse name, sa is loging name in MS SQL server mangement stidio to connet to server. test is table name.
    3. if i run query like this select * from testcq.dbo.test then gives all row from MS SQL mangement Studio. But when i rtyr to
    run from java code gives erro "j*ava.sql.SQLException: [Microsoft][SQLServer 2000 Driver for*   
    *   JDBC][SQLServer]Invalid object name 'testcq.dbo.test*'.
    I don't understand where the problem is. It's either in database or in table...all the code, table,database are fine..
    Kindly do needful .....bcoz so many days i m working with this....

    Anyway, when I try to make my statement TYPE_SCROLL_INSENSITIVE with Access, I get a "Function Sequence Error". If I make it TYPE_FORWARD_ONLY, it's ok. The code is as follows:

    you need to execute a statement to use getResultSet.
    replace the line
    ResultSet results = ps.getResultSet();with this
    ResultSet results = ps.executeQuery();

    Hi, all, I'm using Jdbc Drive Oracle JDBC driver 8.1.7.0.0 and weblogic. However, when I do:

    Thanks for your reply. But what I want to use first. One thing I don't understand is why even I use ResultSet.TYPE_SCROLL_INSENSITIVE, ResultSet.CONCUR_READ_ONLY, but the resultset is still not scrollable. How can I get a scrollable resultset. Thanks.

    I know that you can import an existing table from Excel or Word, but can you import from Access? If not, I thought that perhaps a Access table could be converted into a Word document, but upon checking...it doesn't look like that is an option either.
