Typing in s single character in an email address results in many...

I have this strange problem when I attempt to type in an email address in an email, or I try to add an email address to an address book contact. As I type a single character I will get multiple characters typed for that single keystroke, (i.e., if I type "k" I will get "klstp". and if I attempt to backspace, f4, or any key, it will continually apply the same "klstp" for that instance.) This behavior will go away and reappear at no known pattern or time. One thing that is additionally wierd is the characters that will show up are always characters that are contained in that persons email address or somewhere in their address book listing.
Some of the troubleshooting I have already attempted to do is use another keyboard, run Onyx utility to repair the system, but nothing seems to work.

Thanks for your suggestion, but I understand the previous recipients function that you are speaking of. This is not that. This is random character sets that show with a single character being typed, but it is not any combination that exists from previous recipients. As an example if I type the letter S, I will get the letters SDQT, if I then hit backspace to remove it it will again type SDQT, if I then use an arrow key to try and move the position of the curser, it will again type SDQT. The only key I have found that will not do this is the ESC key. The important part here is that the combination SDQT is not part of an email address anywhere in my address book or previous recipients, and this combination of characters is only an example, the actual characters appear to be random.

  • Lion Mail unable to find "excerpts"/"character subsets" of email addresses (worked in 10.6)

    Hi,
I recently started using Lion and feel that Mail search has been downgraded.  In Snow Leopard, I could search for an "excerpt"/"character subset" of an email address, but this does not work in Lion, and when I called Apple Care about this issue, they confirmed this is proper operation of Lion Mail search and didn't seem to think this was an issue of concern.
For example, I have an account with First Arkansas Bank & Trust.  I've received email from FABT from four different email addresses:
First Arkansas Bank and Trust <[email protected]>
    FIRST ARKANSAS BANK & TRUST <[email protected]>
First Arkansas Bank and Trust <[email protected]>
    Account Services <[email protected]>
In Snow Leopard, I could search for "Arkansas" and limit to "From" field, and all emails from FABT would show up.  Now in Lion Mail, when I type "Arkansas" in the search field, Mail automatically searches all of my email content, so I get all my FABT emails but also emails from United Airlines talking about fares to a city in Arkansas and so on.  I am then given the option of limiting my search to "First Arkansas Bank and Trust <[email protected]>" or "FIRST ARKANSAS BANK & TRUST <[email protected]>" but not "First Arkansas Bank and Trust <[email protected]>" or  "Account Services <[email protected]>."  If I do a search for "from:arkansas," I get results for all but "Account Services <[email protected]>."  I can only retrieve that email address by searching for "from:aservices" or "from:first" because they appear at the beginning of the email address.  Apple Care tech support confirmed that Lion Mail cannot search for an "excerpt"/"character subset" of an email address like "arkansas" in the case of [email protected].  Is it also like this in Mountain Lion?  Is there any way to request that Apple improve its search functionality?
Snow Leopard Mail search had no problem searching for subset character strings.  e.g. doing a search for "rkans" (including full text search) brings up zero emails in Lion, whereas it worked perfectly fine in Snow Leopard.  I'm also not pleased with the loss of the scroll bar arrow buttons in Lion... :/
thanks for any advice you may have

I am sure they will read it, but it's impossible to know whether they will take action.  I would guess that having a large number of people ask for something increases the chances.

  • "Email address is invalid" when adding a new user to BPC 7.0

    Hello Experts,
I was adding a user with an apostrophe in his email (like "John.O'Hara (at) mycompany.com") and BPC didn't like that character with "Invalid email address" message. I've removed an apostrophe, added user and then modified email address directly in the tblUsers table.
    Here is the question:
Is it possible that apostrophe would pop-up as an error later on in other modules of the application?
    Thanks,
    Akim
P.S. I can't modify user via Admin Console if apostrophe is in the email address... And it doesn't display user details when I click on that user name.

SAP BPC doesn't allow you to use some chars insight of ID of users or dimensions members because it can cause some errors later on. I don't advice you to force the insert direct into table because later on you can have problems.
I will provide just an example:
Single quote is used to delimitate strings into SQL Server.
So oifyou used insight of ID you can arrive in the situation where the system will perform a select like:
select * from table where userid ='John O'Hara'
The result willbe that actually no users meet this criteria.
This will happen because actually the condition will be just: userid = 'John O' the rest will be truncate.
So the BPC doesn't allow you to insert some chars into ID or other field just to avoid errors like into my example.

  • Submit button with multiple email addresses doesn't work while the same form with one email address does.  The multi email version works on windows computer.

    Hi,
What is the separator character between two email addresses?  Is it a comma (,) semicolon(;) or something else?
According to the mailto URI scheme (RFC 6068), you need to use a comma (,) to separate multiple email addresses.
You can see the third example in the following Wikipedia page.

  • How to delete ALL previously sent email addresses from *iPad*

I use my Apple ID to set up my kids' iPad Minis, which in retrospect was not so bright.
Now when my child starts typing the recipient's name for an email all of MY previously sent email addresses come up, many of which are work-related.
I know I can click on the blue "I" and remove them one by one, but I have over 1,000 contacts - so one by one just isn't practical. Is there a way to delete them all in one go?
Again - this is on the iPad mini, NOT laptop/desktop. I know how to do it on my MBP but can't find anything out there for the bulk deletion on the iPad.
    Thanks!

Any idea how the addresses "synced" on there to begin with? Surely there's an "unsync" feature?
My email addresses are not being used on the iPad so it must have something to do with my Apple ID.

  • Campaigns - Hard bounces for valid email addresses

I am getting hard bounces with 'Bad Mailbox Destination Address' for valid email addresses that everybody internally and externally can email without problem.
Doesn't instill me with much faith for sending out 10,000 emails next week!

If you can email that address manually from a regular email address and it goes through fine then it's likely you might be getting blocked by spam filters although usually that would be indicated in your bounce message.
Is your site fully hosted on BC (ie - with BC's nameservers) or is your domain hosted via an A record to point to BC?  If you are being blocked by spam filters then you are likely using the A record because fully hosted sites on BC have the SPF records in place.
If you are using an A record to point to BC's servers for your domain and manage your DNS records somwehere then you need to add a TXT record with the SPF data.  Goto your domain registrar and manage your DNS entries.  You'll want to add a TXT record with the following info:
    Record name: @
    Record type: TXT
    Record value: v=spf1 mx include:worldsecuresystems.com ~all
    Record TTL: 86400
You can only have one SPF record on your domain so if you already have a TXT record with SPF data in it for other email services your domain uses (like gmail) you just need to update your TXT SPF record and add "include:worldsecuresystems.com" after the first "include" statement in the TXT record the TXT value would look like:
    "v=spf1 mx include:_spf.google.com include:worldsecuresystems.com ~all"
If your problem is that your emails are blocked by spam filters that should fix it but I'm pretty sure 'Bad Mailbox Destination Address' usually indicates a non-existent or malformatted username in your email address (ie - the part before the "@").  I would also double check your subscribers list and make sure there are no spaces or any other invalid character in the email addresses for the customers that are getting bounced back.
Here's more information about your specific error from http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb232118(v=exchg.80).aspx which has to do with MS Exchange server specifically but still provides a good explanation:
    5.1.1
    Bad destination mailbox address
This failure may be caused by the following conditions:
The recipient e-mail address was entered incorrectly by the sender.
No recipient exists in the destination e-mail system.
The recipient mailbox has been moved and the Microsoft Office Outlook recipient cache on the sender's computer has not updated.
An invalid legacy domain name (DN) exists for the recipient mailbox Active Directory.
This error typically occurs when the sender of the message incorrectly enters the e-mail address of the recipient. The sender should check the recipient's e-mail address and send again. This error can also occur if the recipient e-mail address was correct in the past but has changed or has been removed from the destination e-mail system.
If the sender of the message is in the same Exchange organization as the recipient, and the recipient mailbox still exists, determine whether the recipient mailbox has been relocated to a new e-mail server. If this is the case, Outlook may not have updated the recipient cache correctly. Instruct the sender to remove the recipient address from sender's Outlook recipient cache and then create a new message. Resending the original message will result in the same failure.
Other issues may cause this error, such as an invalid legacy distinguished name (DN) in Active Directory. Examine and correct the legacy DN of the recipient's mailbox. Then instruct the sender to remove the recipient address from sender's Outlook recipient cache and then create a new message. Resending the original message will result in the same failure.

  • Have searched Forums for quite some time now. Cannot find a correct answer to: how do I prevent my old email address from appearing as the "from:" address

Have searched Forums for quite some time now. Cannot find a correct answer to: how do I prevent my old email address from appearing as the "from:" address when I use a "send this" link on a webpage/news article. The email window opens and automatically inserts my old Hotmail address instead of the Yahoo address I've used for a long time. (The drop-down won't let me change it or delete it.) Thanks.

Do you get a drop down list with suggestions if you clear that "from" field and click elsewhere on that page to move the focus off that field and then double-click again in that field or start typing the first letters of that unwanted email address?
Use these steps to remove saved (form) data from a drop down list:
#Click the (empty) input field on the web page to open the drop down list
#Highlight an entry in the drop down list
#Press the Delete key (on Mac: Shift+Delete) to remove it.

    Hello,
Database: Oracle Database 10g Enterprise Edition Release 10.1.0.3.0

I'm trying to use the UTL_MAIL package to send an email and the actual mail sending works fine. However on the client side the database character set (WE8ISO8859P1) is displayed in the "From:" field and it's also displayed in the "Subject:" field (along with the actual email address/subject). Can someone please let me know why this is happening and how I fix it?

Here's a screenshot of how the email appears on the client-side (Novell GroupWise. Outlook 2007 also displays it the same way). Please note I've blanked out the recipients name (which is displayed correctly, without the character set).
    http://oi53.tinypic.com/25usgme.jpg
So why is the character set displayed? I've tried various combinations of using double-quotes and single quotes to no avail. Also the email is displayed perfectly fine if I use the old UTL_SMTP package!
    Please help!
    Thanks!

Can you post the raw e-mail received by the Groupwise/Outlook client? • How do I delete or edit a captured text layer that contains a single character in Cp 5?

My captured text layer contains a single character '7'. This renders immediately when I publish the movie, but I don't get any options when I try to edit the layer by right-clicking on it.
Can anyone help as this is very annoying...

    Hello,
    Welcome on the forum.
Since you are talking about 'capture', I presume you are pointing to a Typing object? You cannot edit this right away. Depending on what you want to realize, could propose two workarounds:
If you only want to show something typing (demonstration - but another text than your character), replace the Typing object by a Text Animation (right-click menu), you'll be able to edit it.
If you want the user to type in a text, delete the Typing object and replace it by a Text Entry Box.

  • GREP to find single character

I put together a GREP style inside of a paragraph style that is supposed to find all instances in the paragraph where there is one single character inside of parethesis. This is what I typed in:
    (?<=\().(?-\))
and I assigned a character style that is supposed to change the character inside the parenthesis, but not the parenthesis themselves.
But it's not working. Can anyone help me with how to fix it?

For any other readers greppling with same,
    (?<=\().(?=\))
    [Breakdown:
    (?<=x) Lookbehind string x
\(  .. which is an open parenthesis -- escaped, because it's a GREP special character
.  Any character. Any at all! Imagine that!
    (?=y) Lookahead string y
\)  .. which is a closing parenthesis -- see above]

  • Mail compose window jumps to back when adding address. As soon as I add a single character to the address window of a new mail message, it pops  under all other existing windows. If I have others open...and who doesn't? I have to then close them all.

    So.....deeply....disappointed by Lion...
It honestly gets in the way of getting things done.
When was the last time you had an upgrade, in any program or  OS that caused an immediate productivity drop?
Mail windows, when adding a new address, pop under to become the lowest window in the stack...before you are done composing...
no extra clicks..just adding ONE character to the actual address bar does it.
Trying to add files to an online content management system is hard...it's hard because when you attempt to add the file, it disappears from
the list, so a search must be conducted...oh not a search of your hard drive...no...it has to include ALL FILES and that takes a while, showing
files totally unrelated to what you need or in whatever that view is, showing everything from movies to documents, to a whole range of other stuff
that is irrelevant to what is being sought.
I can get used to the disappearing icon tool bar...but the message threading in Mail is so strangely bad it's hard to describe. So you send out an email,
and it had 5 points...but that was 3 emails before...A reply comes in addressing those 5 points but saying something like ..."I disagree with point number 4"
Unless you have total recall the thread shows you only incoming mail and the LAST most recent folded up message you sent. You are forced to go digging
into sent mail to see what that point you made 8 days eariler actually was...
I am pleased that I don't have to have Launchpad (honestly the silliest 'feature' I've ever seen on a computer) in the dock and see no point in the juvenile Mission Control (the naming scheme is odd and reminiscent of Junior Spaceman...how ironic that we end America's manned launch capability at the same time as Launch Pad and Mission Control, both throwbacks to the 60's are added to an OS). In any case both are virtually useless tools. One, replacing the mildly useful Spaces and the other just genuinely useless.
I'm going to give Apple until the second bug fix...but I can tell right now that Snow Leopard was a far more robust OS. The thousands of posts about this may rise to the level of AntennaGate...I hope so...It seems the only way to get Steve (for whom I have now honestly lost respect for the FIRST TIME) to address the issues is to embarrass the company publicly. Lion is a broken system, poorly conceived...and proof that the Apple methodology of no widespread user testing can and does fail. This needs to get fixed. Soon.

It seems to have something to do with profile manager.
I get stack traces in the "system messages" logs for the "Server" application, grrrr.
I'll get that info and attempt to submit a but report tonight.
