UDF for Replace first 4 char

Hi Friends,
Can anyone please provide me UDF for following Condition
my input is 123456 or 1234567.i need read first 4 char and replace it by sw..the output should be sw56 or sw567

Hi,
This simple UDF will do what you want:
The UDF takes a single String array as input, say s[ ] and it has a single ResultList item result as output.
The complete code is as follows:
s[0]="sw"+s[0].substring(4,s[0].length());
result.addValue(s[0]);
Pass the output of the UDF to the required target field. That's it.

Is there any stanard function for replacing any junk characters with zero? If not, I needed UDF for fulfilling this requirement.
My requirment is .... Am sending some files to r/3 using XI. In the source(txt file) some time some fields have some junk characters. I must make it to zero, the field which has junk. How can I acheive it? is there any UDF using which I can fulfill my requiremnt.

I would use Parallels or VMWare and use the second drive to hold the virtual machine. That way the VM only uses the space that it needs and you can still use the remainder of the drive for other things, not to mention that you would not need to reboot to run windows.
Also Time Machine does not back up a boot camp partition.

Try restoring from the backup created at the beginning of the sync process:
Without connecting your phone, open iTunes, go to Preferences, on the Devices tab check "Prevent...from syncing automatically"
Connect your phone, right-click on the name of your phone when it appears on the left sidebar in iTunes
Select Restore from backup, choosing your most recent backup to restore from
Disconnect your phone and confirm that your photos are back
Go back to iTunes>Preferences>Devices and re-enable automatic syncing.

Setting up a Time Capsule for the first time and replacing it with an existing Router

I have got a new TC which I will be setting it up for the first time. I have a very old beetle router. I would be using the TC as a wireless hard drive and also as my WiFi Router. After reading the setup guide, I am confused about which option to choose. Moreover, available references on the internet do not provide any clear-cut solution.
My basic aim is to replace my router with the TC and use its in-built WiFi hardware. Since I have an EPSON printer which is connected to my router wirelessly, I am not willing to change its settings. Please guide me which option to choose regarding the same.

Since you have a modem/router, you must continue to use the Beetel modem/router on your network.
The Time Capsule can connect to the Beetel modem/router using a wired Ethernet cable connection and produce a separate wireless network. You would NOT want the Beetel router and Time Capsule to both try to produce the same wireless network if they are located close together, since this will likely create interference problems that may prevent devices from connecting to either the Beetel orTime Capsule wireless network.
The exception to having the Beetel modem/router and Time Capsule produce the same wireless network would be if you can locate the Time Capsule at least a room or two away from the Beetel modem/router. An Ethernet cable can be run up to 300+ feet or about 100 meters with no signal loss, so you should be able to locate the Time Capsule anywhere you want.
Are you able to consider this option?
Another option.....if you cannot locate the Time Capsule in another room......would be to configure the Time Capsule to use the same wireless network name and password as the Beetel network and turn off the wireless on Bettel modem/router.
Important.....there is no guarantee that the printer will be able to connect to the Time Capsule wireless network, so you should expect to start over and set up the printer again.
Yet another option would be to turn off the wireless service on the Time Capsule and use the Beetel wireless to back up your computers to the Time Capsule, which will act as a wired hard drive for the network. If you select this option, the Time Capsule can be located close to the Beetel modem/router.

You can use the Dreamweaver FTP (or a different FTP client) to completely copy the original website to your development computer, then, before making changes, you can copy the whole thing to a directory called something like "website original"
If you want to run both the old and new sites on the remote server, this is often possible. Add a folder/directory to the server and call it something like "new" and upload the new files there until you are ready to replace the old site
All of this you can do with FTP

Query to Lookup Ship To in a UDF for the Inventory Transfer

Good Day Experts!
I created a UDF for the Ship To Code in the Inventory Transfer Window. The problem is I do not know how to create a query to be used in the Formatted Search for this UDF wherein it will lookup all the Ship To Codes in the table CRD1 of that particular Customer selected in the Inventory Transfer window. The objective is to choose a Ship to code just like in the sales document.
My next problem would be how to display automatically the whole Ship To Address in another UDF based on the Ship To Code chosen in the UDF Ship To Code.
Your inputs would be highly appreciated.

Need you urgent help in using listagg function for more than 8000 char.
I did the below sample SQL and in "e_orig" and "d_orig" for upto 4000 char it is working fine but I have to use it for more than 8000 char. and it is giving error,
I checked the listagg function is having limitation of 4000 char.
I tried but I am unable to achive this. Can someone provide me a sample example to achive this

I noticed that OP's ref cursor actually only ever retrieves a single record for a bound department number, so I decided the best thing would be to test using a procedure that passes an output string back. I selected all (109) employees and put spaces in to ensure above 4000 characters. I also noticed that as he is using PL/SQL he probably can use a VARCHAR2 type, but just not ListAgg in the query, so I wrote short procedures as follows:
SimpleAggChr     - bulk collect and array processing, VARCHAR2 output
ClobAggPrc     - the custom aggregation method, CLOB output
SimpleAggClob     - bulk collect and array processing, CLOB output
I then wrote a driving script that calls them in the order above and times each call (I like benchmarking so I have my own timing object to make it easy). I then print the lengths for checking, and my object writes the timings to my output table. Running a few times I got varying results, but generally it looks like there isn't a lot to choose between them for performance.

I got a new laptop and downloaded iTunes, when I put new music on it for the first time, my entire music library disappeared, leaving me with only newly downloaded music in my library. My iPod still has all my old music.

Recently, I bought a new laptop (a Lenovo), so I downloaded iTunes to it. When I bought new music from iTunes for the first time on the new computer, I went to my music library and there was no music, except for the new songs I had just bought. I have no idea what happened, I've had hundreds of songs I've bought from iTunes or downloaded from bought CDs over the years, which are all still on my iPod (nano, from 2008), and suddenly they just didn't seem to exist. I have yet to access the iTunes account on my previous laptop to see if my music is still there, but I would assume yes. When I went to sync my iPod to my iTunes to at least get the new songs to the iPod (so that my complete library can be on at least one device), I realized that in order to sync my iPod to my iTunes, I would be deleting all my old music and replacing it with the new. So now, I only have a few new songs on my laptop's iTunes, and only my old songs on my iPod. In both cases I paid for all the music, so I don't want to just delete any of it. Is there any way to fix this?

Also-I tried to use my backup hard drive, but I wasn't able to drag/transfer/send/move any of my muic files onto my iTouch when the iTouch was connected to my computer. I can't figure out why it won't let me do that.
The only thing I can see when I open my iTouch on my computer is my file with photos. I can't see videos, music, or anything else. What's going on?

Time Machine: Repeated errors when backing up for the first time using a new external firewire drive

My Iomega 500GB firewire external drive failed on me last week and I have just replaced it with an identical model. I used to use the old drive with Time Machine on my MacBook Pro running 10.5.8 with no issues, until the drive had a hardware failure and stopped spinning up, hence the replacement.
Two days ago I tried using Time Machine for the first time with the replacement external drive. The backup failed and each subsequent backup attempt has failed since then with a different error each time. The drive cannot be ejected using Finder (Finder says disk is in use and cannot be ejected even when no processes are running except for Finder and Time Machine has been disabled), by dragging it to the dock (hangs computer which can only be fixed by a hard reboot), in Disk Utilities (drive cannot be unmounted) or in Terminal ("no such file or directory").
The first backup attempt failed after 3 hours of "preparing" with the message "The backup was not performed because an error occured while creating backup directory".
I tried repairing the disk in Disk Utilities and Disk Utilities said the drive was OK ("the volume Time Machine Backups appears to be OK"). I tried ejecting the drive (hard reboot of computer and disconnecting the drive), plugging it back in again and trying again.
This time it started backing up, then failed after a few minutes with the message "an error occured while copying files to the backup volume". I had a look at the troubleshooting suggested on http://web.me.com/pondini/Time_Machine/C3.html and followed instructions. It failed again, so I did a full reset as per http://web.me.com/pondini/Time_Machine/A4.html.
It failed again, so I tried reparing the drive again in Disk Utilities and again it said it was OK. I tried using different cables and ports (Firewire 400 instead of Firewire 800), and backups still fail.
I have turned off anti-virus scanning (Sophos). I have tried excluding it from Spotlight but this causes an error message from Spotlight. I have tried trashing the com.apple.TimeMachine.plist file and rebooting. I have tried selecting deselecting the drive as the back up in Time Machine preferences, selecting "None", then "Stop Backing Up" then quitting preferences, rebooting, disconnecting the drive, reconnecting the drive and selecting the drive again as the backup disk in Time Machine preferences. I have tried erasing the drive completely, rebooting, and trying to back up again.
None of these have worked. This is a brand new drive and I do not want to have to replace it again if I do not have to.

Hello, some possible clues...
Should you click “Start New Backup”? Not yet! If you see the dialog above, your existing Time Machine backup is corrupt, and you might not be able to recover data from it. But you can save a copy of the corrupt bundle and, perhaps, extract some data from it if needed.
Ask yourself if Time Machine has saved data you might need before deciding what to do next:
If you are sure you won’t need anything backed up before today, click “Start New Backup” and let Time Machine do its thing.
Otherwise, click “Back Up Later” and save a copy before letting Time Machine start a new backup. Just look for a file called “computername.sparsebundle” (for network backups) or “Backups.backupdb” (for local ones) and create a copy with a different name. You can open sparsebundle files with DiskImageMounter and browse them like any other disk. More information is available here.
There you go. If you click “Start New Backup” when you see this dialog box, Time Machine will erase all of your old backup data and start a new bundle. It won’t be corrupt, but it will be empty.
Note that you can manually initiate a Time Machine backup integrity check by option-clicking the “Time Machine” icon in the menu bar and selecting “Verify Backups.”

According to This Time Machine resource “This appears only on Snow Leopard, and started with the Time Capsule Backup Update 1.0 in mid-May of 2010. It also seems to have been included in the 10.6.3 v1.1 update and 10.6.4.”
So, what can you do about it? Grin and bear it, it seems, until Apple fixes it.
One thing you can do to make the backup take less time is to connect your machine to your Time Capsule or other backup drive via Ethernet for the duration of the initial backup.

Using time machine for the first time in a while

Hi all,
I just tried backing up my laptop for the first time in ages with time machine. However , it seems to get stuck on "preparing the back up" and never actually starts the backup.
The external drive I'm using has been used before for backups,and the icon is the bluey colour it should be on my desktop as the back up location, however the back up simply won't start.
I should mention that I have upgraded this laptop to another newer model which I since returned and went back to this older model. I also replaced the hard drive, and this is the first time im trying a time machine backup since those two changes
Not many options I can play with so I can't see why it doesn't start the back up...it never took a longtime before to start...
Could it be anything to do with space? Now the comp has about 490gb needing back up and there's only 100gb of space on the ext hd,because there's about 400gb of previous back ups on there. I didn't think this would be a problem though as I understood time machine just erases old backups when it doesn't have space
Any suggestions welcome! Thx in advance!

Couple of clarifying questions:
1) How long are you waiting?
2) Have you upgraded the OS to Lion?
When I upgraded from Snow Leopard to Lion, the first few time machines took hours 'preparing to backup' before the actual backup to occur. We're talking 6+ hours. I'd usually leave it over night to backup. Even my last fresh reinstall of Lion took about 20min to prepare the first time. Now the hourly backups take maybe 1min total.
My suggestion is to leave it over night and see what happens. It very well could be that the differences between your last backup and current machine state is so different it's taking a long time to determine all the changes.
