UDP comms on windows 7 compatability

I have a configuration where I am talking to a unit using UDP messaging the messaging is a command response setup where by the CVI program sends a command and then waits for the response to be returned
The program outline that I have is as follows
Configure UDP write port
Configure UDP read port
Loop
UDPWrite
UDPRead
            Do stuff
End loop
Close read port
Close writ port
End program.
For completeness the code is split into a number of functions that reside in the same DLL that is called from Test Stand.
The channel handle for the TX and RX UDP end points are stored in static Global variables.
The code works fine for most of the time but when I have executed  the loop a number of times (the number is random some time a few hundred times some time a couple of thousand)
I get an error message either on the write UDP message or on the read from UDP functions
The error is
            -6810
kUDP_ChannelClosed
The channel has been disposed
 If I step round to the next UDP command
I get the following error  -6800
kUDP_InvalidChannel
I have tried to trap the error and re configure the UDP port but I get the error
-6811
kUDP_PortInUse
So I am unable to trap the error re open the port and continue.
My application requires the program to operate 24/ 7 so if such an error occurs I need to be able to recover.
Test setup is as follows.
Test stand 2012 version 5.0.0.252
CVI 2012 Version 12.0.0.0 (422)
Pc is running windows 7 pro 64 bit
Pc is a Intel core i3 processor.
Program was complied as a 32 bit application.
And is running in debug mode
I have transferred the same application to a windows XP machine and this has continued to execute for  over 12hours with out error where the  windows 7 machine would not last 1 hour of operation without  an error.

First of all try to add some delay after you open/close the ports. Maybe 500ms could be enough.
As the most of the times it is recommended to open the ports on request and close after the usage, check that you did not make recurrents calls at the same time.
Is a basic but you can start from there.
There is "No C" in spanish.
If you can think it, you can develop it.

  • Windows 8 Compatibility issue -

    I just ran the MS Windows 8 compatibility test on my Windows 7 system... a number of programs were flagged, including iTunes.. however, the action to be taken seems vague:  a yellow caution symbol was displayed with the words, "remove authorized PCs"
    What does that mean?  Do I need to deauthorize my PC before doing the upgrade?  Do I need to uninstall iTunes? (I am running v.11) And then reinstall it after upgrading to Windows 8?

    Ok, no replies.. so here is what I found out....
    It seems that you can have up to 5 computers authorized to use iTunes.  If one of the computers that is being upgraded to Windows 8 is one of those 5, you may need to deauthorize iTunes before the install.  Why? Because apparently the new install treats the system as a new system, so in order to keep your authorized systems under 5, it may be necessary to deauthorize before the install, then reauthorize again after the install.
    Of course, if this is the only computer authorized, then no biggie.. you will end up with two authorized systems and everything should still hum along. The only concern is if you already have 5 computers authorized, then you need to use this process to ensure that iTunes will still work after the install.
    Odd that iTunes would be so picky... Adobe is infamous about software activations - insisting on the product being deactivated before uninstalling and reinstalling... but no concern here about upgrading to Windows 8
    Hope that helps some others that had a question about this item.
    Oh, and btw.. make sure your notebook manufacturer has drivers for Windows 8 - Microsoft had stated that the upgrade from Windows 7 to 8 would be smooth and hiccup free.. but no mention of drivers. Seems there could be issues with drivers. I have a relatively new ASUS G53SW, and apparently ASUS does not have any drivers for Windows 8!

  • Satellite T230 and Windows 8 compatibility

    Hello,
    My Satellite T230 (PST4AE) is not listed on Windows 8 compatibility's page. Is it not compatible at all?

    The Win 8 matrix lists only the notebook models which were delivered and preinstalled with Win 7 and will get Win 8 driver via Win 8 Update Assistant.
    But the list does not mean that not listed notebooks are not Win 8 capable
    Here is a official information from Microsoft about Windows 8 system requirements
    http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows-8/system-requirements
    If you want to run Windows 8 on your PC, here's what it takes:
    Processor: 1 gigahertz (GHz) or faster with support for PAE, NX, and SSE2 (more info)
    RAM: 1 gigabyte (GB) (32-bit) or 2 GB (64-bit)
    Hard disk space: 16 GB (32-bit) or 20 GB (64-bit)
    Graphics card: Microsoft DirectX 9 graphics device with WDDM driver

  • CS4 and Windows 8 compatibility

    Has anyone successfully installed CS4 on Windows 8? I am currently using Windows XP and received a pop up saying Microsoft are no longer releasing updates for XP after August and I am entitled to a free download of Windows 8. I am trying to decide whether to do this but risk losing my use of CS4 which I really don't want to do. Any advice much appreciated as not sure whether to just continue with XP. Thanks in advance.

    If you search Google using the terms "CS4 and Windows 8 compatibility" you can probably find various results from both Adobe and Microsoft that should give you some idea of how much of a gamble you might face in changing your OS.
    In my own experience, a change in OS has yet to be a positive experience... while most people loved XP in its day, I suffered years of poor performance with it as an upgrade from the moment it was installed and regretted doing it.  Maybe you've had better experience and aren't as shy of it as I am.

    Hello Alxandr,
    Thank you for taking the time to submit this issue to Connect. This is a known issue with Windows 8.1 RTM and it will be addressed in a future update of Windows 8.1. In the meantime, you can typically rename the EXE to get it to work correctly.

  • Acrobat 9 Standard and Windows 7 Compatibility

    We are in the process of planning a migration of company computers to Windows 7 and Office 2010.  We have a large number of Acrobat users with various versions with many using v9, just upgraded last year.  Microsoft's "Windows 7 Compatibility Center" says Acrobat v9 Standard is "Compatible, No Action Required".  We are finding that this may not be the case, specifically with printing.  I have not been able to locate any information on the Adobe site stating compatibility of older versions, only that Acrobat X is compatibite.
    Is anyone having success with Windows 7 and Acrobat 9 Standard?  Does anyone know where to find Adobes compatibility statement for older Acrobat version?
    Thanks!

    Acrobat 9.0 is not Windows 7 compatible. However, I think it was compatible somewhere around 9.2.3. If you upgrade to Acrobat 9.4.3 you should have no issues. I ran with that setup for many months using Acrobat Pro.

  • Commit in Windows Task Manager

    Hello,
    We are running an IDES EHP4 system on Windows 2008 R2/SQL Server 2008 R2 in a virtual machine (created with VMWare Player 3.1.3). When we look at the system commit in Windows Task Manager, we see that the commit is limited to 4 GB, despite the fact that the swap space is set to 10 GB (we didn't set this to 20 GB because the system is only installed for demo purposes). We made tests with VM RAM sizes of 1024 and 2048 MB, and each time the commit is limited to 4 GB. Is there a Windows/VMWare/... parameter that limits this usage ?
    Kind regards,
    Christophe

    Hello Christophe,
    OS, DB and SAP are 64bit in the VM. But the physical host is 32bit.
    This is not possible. You cannot run 64 Bit OS on 32 Bit hardware.
    I also don't understand what you mean with "commit". You cannot configure more memory than 4 GB for the Virtual Machine?
    Kind regards,
    Matthias

  • I can't turn windows program compatibility off

    I enabled "turn off application compatibility engine" and "turn off program compatibility assistant" in computer configuration (through group policy edit) and also "turn off program compatibility assistant" in user configuration,
    and still when I try to install visual studio it says: "Windows Program Compatibility mode is on. Turn it off and then try Setup again". where should I turn off windows program compatibility? once I enabled "remove program compatibility property
    page" and now I don't have this page even after I disabled this setting. now how can I have this page back? Is there a command that I can use it in cmd to change these settings?

    Hi,
    Here is the workaround:
    Rename the EXE accordingly:
    Visual Studio 2012 Ultimate -> vs_ultimate.exe
    Premium -> vs_premium.exe
    Pro -> vs_professional.exe
    Express for Web -> vns_full.exe
    Express for Windows -> win8express_full.exe
    Express for Desktop -> wdexpress_full.exe

  • Setup Blocked : Windows Program Compatibility Mode

    I'm trying to install "Modeling SDK for Microsoft Visual Studio 2013" on Windows 10 Tech Preview Build 10049:
    https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=40754
    But always get:
    "Setup Blocked"
    Windows Program Compatibility mode is on. Turn it off and then try Setup again.
    Compatibility tab on the setup VS_VmSdk.exe shows compatibility mode is off.  No variation of settings on that tab have any effect.
    Is there any way to bypass the compatiblity check on Windows 10 Tech Preview?
    Thanks,

  • Windows 10 Compatibility with HP Envy

    Hi,  I was trying to reserve the free Windows 10 copy, but the Get Windows app have not show up.I asked the microsoft forum about it and they said that my laptop was not compatible, but the answers were vague and it didnt convince me. My laptop have the following characteristics: HP - ENVY 17.3" Refurbished Touch-Screen Laptop - Intel Core i7 - 12GB Memory - 1TB Hard Drive - SilverModel: m7-k111dx    SKU: 1312565768                         Refurbished

    Technical details: 4th Gen Intel® Core™ i7 processor; 17.3" display; 12GB memory; 1TB hard drive
    Special features: Touch screen; HDMI output My older laptop, by far worst than the new one, managed to get the App and Reserve Win10 options, so thats odd. I've tried to run the following script and did every single attempt pointed at this link: http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_10-win_upgrade/i-want-to-reserve-my-free-copy-of-windows-10-but-i/848b5cce-958b-49ae-a132-a999a883265b Is it true that my HP is not compatible with the Windows 10? If not, how can I reserve it or get the Get Windows 10 App?

    You're very welcome. I doubt that it is incompatible. There was a post from a HP administrator on a part of the forum that is not accessible to all members which stated in substance... Windows 10 Compatibility Tool Alert ‎06-05-2015 12:29 PM  HP has received reports from customers who are seeing cases where the Windows 10 compatibility tool that is part of Microsoft’s Get Windows 10 app is classifying some items as incompatible that, in fact are compatible. • Setting Windows 8 compatibility mode via ADK

    I'm using the Compatibility Administrator Windows ADK for Windows 8.1 (http://www.microsoft.com/en-US/download/details.aspx?id=39982) . I'm trying to set WIndows 8 compatibility

    By comparison, I can set those modes via Windows Explorer.  Is there a newer ADK available?

    Hi,
    This forum is to discuss application compatibility testing, common compatibility issues, and best practices for creating Windows-based applications. In other words, this is a development forum. According to your description, I’m afraid that it is not the
    correct forum about this issue because your question is about how to use ADK tool. I am moving your question to the moderator forum ("Where is the forum for..?"). The owner of the forum will direct you to a right forum. Thanks for your understanding.
