UIX/XML DatePicker - only dates up to 1969?

I've deployed my application to our server running Windows 2000 and get some strange behaviour when using the DatePicker. After clicking the icon, the calendar is displayed fine. However when I use the drop down lists or nav bars to change the values, the list of years changes and I can't select anything past 1969! Anyone seen this problem and know a solution?
Thanks
Ian

Hi,
That is not a known problem. Since dates are worked out relative to 1970, it sounds like the max value is being set to 0. If you hit one of the arrows and then look at the URL (right click and hit properties on ie) the URL should look something like:
http://bali.us.oracle.com:8080/cabo/jsps/calendarDialog.jsp?minValue=-62125920000000&maxValue=9223372036854775807&value=1022175935531&configName=BaseUIPBCfg1&enc=UTF-8&loc=en-US&contextURI=/baja&contextPath=/private/baja/tomcat/webapps/baja/&scrolledValue=1023001199999
What does you url look like?

  • Help by date format in UIX/XML

    In UIX/XML I would like to indicate the date fields in the format to 'DD.MM.YYYY '. I modify the properties of my view object and entity object in the window "structure window". It does not change view for anything.
    What wrong do I make?
    Who can help me please !!!!

    Please post what version of JDeveloper you are using. Also post a small sample application that shows what you are trying to do.
    I am not sure what you mean. Are you trying to display a date from the database, or have the user enter a date?
    The date format is determined from the client browser locale. It will default to the US date format mm/dd/yy unless the browser locale is overridden.
    If you want the user to enter a date, you should be using <dateField>. This will also expect mm/dd/yy unless you override it with a validater. Please refer to the UIX Element Reference. This documents <dateField>. The <onSubmitValidater> is a child of <dateField>, it is also documented in the Element Reference. <date> is the validater you want, it is a child of <onSubmitValidater>. You can specify a validation pattern.

  • UIX/XML BC4J - Controlling page flow in event handlers

    We have an event handler that executes some data processing using bc4j tags, and need to redirect the flow to another page, based on the value of some parameters. For example, we have a checkbox Prepare for another insert, and we want to check for its state in the event handler to determine which page to display.
    We tried the following code
    UIX page event handler:
    <event name="saveEvent" >
         <bc4j:findRootAppModule name="TipoPunteggioViewAppModule" >
              <bc4j:findViewObject name="TipoPunteggioView" >
                   <bc4j:findRow name="CreateTipoPunteggioView" >
                        <bc4j:setPageProperty name="keyTipoPunteggio" >
                             <bc4j:stringKey />
                        </bc4j:setPageProperty>
                        <bc4j:setAttribute name="FlgObsoleto" />
                        <bc4j:setAttribute name="Firma" />
                        <bc4j:setAttribute name="TitTipoPunteggio" />
                        <bc4j:insertRow/>
                        <bc4j:commit/>
                        <bc4j:executeQuery/>
                        <ctrl:method class="com.websiteitalia.valutazioni.handlers.Handlers"
                             method="anotherInsertEventHandler" />
                   </bc4j:findRow>
              </bc4j:findViewObject>
         </bc4j:findRootAppModule>
    </event>
    Java method event handler:
    public static EventResult anotherInsertEventHandler(BajaContext bCtx,
                                       Page page,
                                       PageEvent event) {
         // AnotherInsert is the name of the checkbox on the page
    if ("on".equals(event.getParameter("AnotherInsert"))) {
              return new EventResult(page);
         } else {
              return new EventResult(new Page("ListPage"));
    When we return the same page, things work fine, but when we return another page we get an ArrayIndexOutOfBoundException. We have also noticed that if we return a simple page, without data scopes and bc4j tags, we get the correct result. We are probably wrong in the manner we do the redirect inside of a java event handler, because seems that the page we return is not completely processed.
    Can anyone explain the available techniques to control the page flow, using UIX XML tags or Java APIs alone or both of these together? For example, how can be replicated the <ctrl:go> behavior using Java APIs?

    The UIX page works correctly if loaded directly, the error takes place only when we redirect in this manner from a page that has a different application module / view object scopes. In fact, when we redirect to a page that have the same scopes of the first (or when the second page has not scopes at all the simple page) the error doesnt occur. Thats why we suppose that some step of the page rendering process arent executed correctly, it seems that the new page still finds some of the old page (the scopes)..
    To redirect to a page from a java event handler we have returned an event result with the next page (see above post for a code snippet), is this the correct way? Can we simulate the ctrl:go tag from the java code (with the redirect=true option)? There are any other?

  • Sample UIX XML requested for standard functionality

    I am learning UIX XML.
    Using scott's emp and dept tables, I have used the wizards to generate a UIX XML application using BC4J.
    I would like to enhance the generated UIX XML.
    For example...
    1. The UIX XML pages that allow inserts/updates to the EMP view object. I would like to have a LOV on the dept_no field so user can use this. Typically any foreign key field to have a LOV with a lookup on the master table.
    2. Also I am having some difficulty with radio groups, list items etc that are based on hardcoded values or data in the database. Have you any complete example code. The on-line documentation shows examples but not the whole code working together. Have you got a complete sample app that shows these features?
    3. Have you any UIX XML examples that use FORMS containing text input items, lists, radio groups etc that ARE NOT based on BC4J...then have the event logic access BC4J and do the inserts/updates.
    Thanks,
    Paul.

    Paul,
    Like you I have been learing using the scott schema.
    I too have struggled with this LOV issue in UIX-XML and UIX-JSP and BC4J-JSP. UIX-JSP can allow for a drop down list based upon custom properties in the VO and a "custom" Java class. The HOW-TO Page has an excellent example that when followed (with some tweaks to get what I wanted) the drop down list worked. I know it's not an LOV (like in Forms) but for small FK lookups drop down lists seem to be the requests of most users. But these drop down lists will not happen in UIX-XML or BC4J-JSP. Seems aierd to me but hey, I'm just learning too.
    My point is that I too have asked question after question on this forum about UIX-XML or about implementing fearures of UIX-XML in other frameworks (like coulmn sorting) and have gotten zero helpful repsonses. There were some comments about how 9.0.3 would soleve some of these issues, but no one seems to be able to explain a way to show a "broken" example so that I will be elated when 9.0.3 comes out and works.
    If you get an answer or some helpful pointers pelase forward them to me at [email protected]
    And I apologize for making your heart get all a flutter when you saw the reply count grow by "1" only to find that it's just another loser who can't make the simple things in this IDE work.

  • Which Web Client Framework? BC4J-JSP, UIX-JSP, UIX-XML, etc

    Trying to determine which, if any of the JDeveloper frameworks, to use for do web browser (HTML) clients.
    What are the pros/cons of BC4J-JSP, UIX-JSP, UIX-XML, etc?
    What are some common things you might rule out using one or more of the frameworks?
    I plan to be using BC4J, updating, inserting data (currently MS-SQL) and the apps will run on WebLogic 7 or Caucho Resin (webapps no EJB) in a cluster. I would like to be as RAD as possible and still be able to do what I need to do. One main concern is being able to add custom HTML/JavaScript for things like client side validation. I didn't see a way to do this when doing BC4J-JSP. Is that right?
    If I define any validation in the BC4J, will UIX utilized any of this to define a JavaScript validator or must it be redudantly defined?
    One other concern is what the framework requires in terms of architecture, like do I have to have sticky sessions in my web cluster or can it work fine stateless or stateful?
    For UIX-XML, how is this architected for performance? Specifically, is the XML effectively compiled and converted into something more efficient and performant or does it do XML parsing all the time? Is there any significant performance differences between the frameworks?
    Is there any significant difference in dealing with security? Anything in the framework to make it easier to handle certain users being able to see/edit different set of data?
    I have things like some groups can edit only certain entities (product info but not pricing), others only certain types of products (possibly subclass entities) and others situations where what fields than can edit varies. Obviously I can handle this programmatically, but I was wondering what the frameworks had to offer, especially in terms of having different views of the same data.
    Steve

    ...I am little confused then about how BC4J works and what is meant by "session" here.
    When you talk about appmodules in the plural, does this mean that there are potentially multiple instances of the same data on a single server or there is a common datastore with pending data and client specific stuff varying?
    The common datastore is the database. Each client (momentarily, during the span of their request) uses an instance of an application module from the pool. The pool can grow and shrink with load on your system and all of the various tuning parameters. Our doc on the AM Pool covers all the parameter settings and their users.
    What kind of "session" is this?
    It is an abstract notion of a session for a user. The implementation used for Web clients uses the HTTP Session Key as the session key. However, we have other session implementations (and you can provide your own to do custom stuff for more sophisticated needs). We don't store anything else in the HTTP Session to the best of my knowledge. This way in a cluster, the web container doesn't have to waste time propagating all of your serialized HTTP Session state among cluster members. This session key also include an id for the application module and together those provide the key to store your pending state in the database for the "Stateful == Managed State" feature.
    I assume that if I have a cluster which doesn't use session-to-same-server-affinity but uses JDBC for http-session persistance or distributed in-memory http-sessions then I cannot use stateful BC4J even though I can use http-sessions.
    You can use BC4J in this way because the browser will send a cookie that contains the key to your database-stored pending state. In this way, we work great in a server farm for failover and/or scalability reasons.
    Even if I use stateless BC4J, are there issues with round-robin'ng all requests to different servers in a cluster?
    As I said, both our Stateless and Stateful features are designed to be used in Server farms, no problem.
    BTW I wouldn't necessarily say you picked the wrongs terms for the modes, but I know what you mean. There's problems with these terms. I am trying to explain to my mgrs/engineers that there is some state in stateless transactions - that simply making everything "stateless" doesn't mean don't lose anything in a disastrous failure. I am arguing to get support for sessions in our cluster, that the performance gain and simplified development is worth it as long as you put intelligent limits on what you store in the session. Right now, they are insisting on randomly sending requests into two entirely different data centers, with two different clusters.
    Amen. I have seen too many developers make the mistake of trying to be totally stateless, only to completely complicate their development environment with having to peristent partially-completed transaction data to the database. I've seen this done with sets of "Shadow" tables (yuck!) or using hand-written techniques similar to what BC4J provides a robust implementation of in the box.
    We've tuned our "Stateless With Affinity for Server Farms" model over several releases of carefully studying the performance of the Web apps built by our internal Oracle Applications teams using BC4J (over 20 of them now, and growing!) so compared with a hand-written strategy for your web-tier state management, using BC4J's implementation will be much more productive for you.
    We're tuning and tweaking and enhancing it even more for the 9.0.3 release as new needs are highlighted with continued use by our customers (both Oracle internal and external).

  • 9iAS WE v2 Beta: which adapter to use for BC4J-UIX-XML components?

    hi,
    through official TAR i still have no answer after 3 weeks, so maybe someone here can help me out.
    using Jdveloper 9i RC i create a BC4J-based client project (BC4J-UIX-XML components) which i want to use for wireless services. the only thing i know is that oracle recommends this framework. together with WE v2 we got more than 1000 pages of documentation, but nothing about the new adapters (the most important thing i believe, what else am i supposed to do as official beta tester?!!).
    any piece of information about the new adapters (especially the oc4j-adapter) or any kind of examples are really appreciated.
    TIA, trevi

    automatic mode is just for quick demos. You cannot internationalize your application while using automatic mode.
    You will need to turn off automatic mode, and have bc4j:column beans in your table and databind the data to come from your resource bundles.

  • How can I render an active link (yrl) within a UIX/XML page

    How can I render an active link (url) within a UIX/XML page.
    How can I get <jbo:ShowValue> to work in UIX/XML, or is there another way?
    Bill G...

    It may seem strange, but the <contents> of <rawText> aren't actually
    raw - it's only the "text" attribute that's raw. (It seems strange because
    it is. Ah well.) This is different from UIX JSP.
    So, try something like the following:
    <bc4j:attrScope name="Notes">
    <contents>
    <rawText text="&lt;a href=&quot;"/>
    <rawText>
    <boundAttribute name="text">
    <bc4j:attrProperty name="value"/>
    </boundAttribute>
    </rawText text="&quot;&gt;"/>
    Some text in the link.
    <rawText text="&lt;/a&gt;"/>
    </contents>
    <bc4j:attrScope>
    Thankfully, this will be much simpler in 9.0.3, when the following
    will work:
    <link text="Whatever you want">
    <boundAttribute name="destination">
    <bc4j:attrValue name="Notes"/>
    </boundAttribute>
    </link>

  • XML Publisher - Dynamic Data Columns Issue

    Hi,
    I am creating a amortization report where I need to show the amortization schedule for unearned revenue. Customers have signed different years of contract and I need to show the amount as per their remaining contract months. So if there are 2 month remaining in the contract then I should show the data for 2 months only and if there are 10 months then I should display 10 months. If we run the report for both customers then it should display two lines in report. For first customer the data should be only for 2 months and for second row(customer) there should be data for next 10 months. These months should be columns in the report(like excel columns, not rows). I need to display all months in columns instead of rows.
    I have acheived that using Dynamic Data Columns as mentioned in the user guide. Everything is working fine except following issues -
    1. How to create page level total?_
    I have created page total in my template using <?add-page-total:TOTUREV;'UREV'?> and displaying using <?show-page-total:TOTUREV?> but when I run the report in excel format these page total do not display. These columns are static columns not dynamic.
    If I run the report in pdf format then the static column total is displayed correctly.
    2. When I run the report in excel format then report run fine and it shows all the columns properly but if I run the report in pdf format then the dynamic column are not displayed in their own columns, all the columns are overwriting each other in a single columns itself, its not expanding.
    3. How do I get the total for the dynamic columns?_
    I need to display the page level total for the dynamic columns also, how do I do that?
    4. When I run the report in excel format the 2 decimal places of the numbers are gone(it works fine in pdf output), like 12.50 becomes 12.5 and 14.00 becomes 14. I need to maintain those 2 decimal places. I have tried using <fo:bidi-override direction="ltr" unicode-bidi="bidi-override"><?format-number:CVALUE;'999999D99'?></fo:bidi-override> but this does not solve my problem completely. It shows the values correctly in excel but then I am not able to do any calculation on those columns, looks like it converts them to text values.
    Any help is really appreicated. Please let me know if you need the xml template and data file.
    Regards
    Hitesh

    Hi Hitesh,
    Can you please upload your RTF and XML template file? I will try to spend sometime on this issue.

    This usage of nested view object scopes has been explained in reply of a previous post, How to databind the children of a UIX XML choice, and before ours attempts to modify the tree it worked fine. Removing the nested view object scope the page makes the page render correctly, but we need it to retrieve the description of its state.
    We get the same behaviour (and a much similar stack trace, with the same oracle.cabo.ui.data.DataObjectList oracle.cabo.ui.collection.DataObjectListNodeList.getDataObjectList (oracle.cabo.ui.RenderingContext) throwing a NullPointerException) if we use NodeUtils.createPreorderDescendentAttributeEnumeration method instead of PathUtils.

    It's a bug in the DataObjectListNodeList class that's up at the top of
    the stack. It's been fixed for 9.0.3. The bit of XML that's triggering
    it isn't the <viewObjectScope>s, but the "data:childData".
    I believe you can workaround this bug by not passing a null RenderingContext to
    findPathWithNodeID(). Now, you don't have a real RenderingContext, and we
    don't especially need one - "null" is legit here, but I think if
    you just pass "new oracle.cabo.ui.RootRenderingContext()" then you'll
    get around this bug.

  • Using cache for read only data

    In my application I have to display some read only data (in number of drop down present on several portlets)
    this data might be driven from the database or from some XML/property file.Not decided yet.
    for example : Country /state/City/Zip code etc..
    Kindly let me know how can I implement the same in Weblogic Portal 10.0.
    Do I have to use some third party caching mechanism like Hibernate cache for this
    or
    Weblogic portal do support caching ??
    Please suggest the all possible soultions to implement this.

    Cache cache = CacheFactory.getCache("yourCache"); //any name can be passed, and you can create as many as you want , perhaps by functionality, perhaps by size etc. If you want to configure statically you must use this name in the xml file. If you define it in the xml file , you can administer the cache from Portal Admin
    cache.put("key","value");
    cache.get("key");
    There are other advanced things you can do like Time To live / flushing / auto reload the cache which is all described in the javadoc

  • XML containing Japanese data

    Hello,
    We have an application, which should work for both English and Japanese languages. We are using MVC pattern, where the data coming from the browser is stored in a bean and is saved into the database using a separate persistence manager (PM) class. When multiple records are retrieved from the database, we are using XML to return the results from PM class to the controller. This works fine if the records contain only the English data. When we are trying to return the records containing Japanese data, we get an exception 'Illegal XML character' while parsing the string. Can somebody tell, which encoding should be used in XML, to make it work? We are using some other parsers as against the ones available in WebLogic. We don't know how to override the WL XML settings. Could the problem be because of that?
    Kindly answer ASAP, since the project is getting delayed.
    Thanking in anticipation...
    -Medha

    Hi Medha,
    OK, if you are writing to a file you have to specify the encoding as
    well, e.g.
    File f = new File(sFileName);
    FileOutputStream fos = new FileOutputStream(f);
    Writer w = new OutputStreamWriter(fos, "UTF8");
    w.write(s);
    w.close();
    fos.close();
    I was thinking that you are reading from a file. Is that correct? What
    I'm doing is parsing XML Files containing simplified Chinese and Thai
    characters. I store them in a UTF-8 encoded XML File. I read this as
    described in my first posting. I'm using a new version of the xerces dom
    parser, but I suppose that should not make a difference.
    Could you post the stacktrace? And maybe a short example xml file in
    UTF-8 encoding? I could try if my parser setup works with it.

    Hi,
    We tried JISAutoDetect, UTF-8, UTF-16, ISO-2022-JP and various JIS***
    encodings in XML file.
    We are using following code to parse the XML string
    File filePointer=new File("/","test.xml");
    FileWriter fileWriter=new FileWriter(filePointer);
    fileWriter.write(xmlString);
    fileWriter.close();
    factory = DocumentBuilderFactory.newInstance();
    builder = factory.newDocumentBuilder();
    document = builder.parse(filePointer);
    We are using SAX parser version 1.0 from SUN. We are using jaxp.jar
    and parser.jar files. They are located in the classpath before weblogic
    stuff.
    Hope you can suggest some solution.
    Thanks,
    Medha

    Hi Medha,
    some questions in order to help:
    - which encoding are you currently using?
    - Did you specify the encoding in your XML file (e.g. <?xml
    version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>)?
    - Are you reading the file from which you are building the strings
    correctly (specify the encoding as well?)
         e.g.:
         InputStream is = new FileInputStream(sFileName);
    InputStreamReader isr = new InputStreamReader(is,"UTF8");
    Reader in = new BufferedReader(isr);
    - which parser are you using and where in the classpath is it located
    (especially before or behind the weblogic stuff including servicepacks)
