Problems connecting with database from java API
I've benn using XSQLRequest and I found a problem with
connections, because it can't connect from Java to database, but
if I access to a .xsql it works.
And also if I link to a .xsql first and after that I try to
access to Database form my servlet it works. So I think my
problem is to initialize the XSQLConfig.xml file in OC4J server.
Thanks in advanceWould you provide the way you deploy your XSQL app to OC4J and
how you get JDBC connection using JAVA? I execute the next code more or less:
miXSQLRequest = new XSQLRequest(XSQLQuery.getDOM
(),null);
miXSQLRequest.process(htParamsIn, pWriter, pErrors);
but and it's probabily my mistake I don't get any conecction
from the session or something similar because I thought that
it's made by XSQLRequest, and the XSQLRequest class takes the
default values of the connection pool from the file
XSQLConfig.xml (I put this file inside the lib directory of
OC4J) as the XSQLServlet.
Thanks for your help -

This error means that the hostname or IP address used in the TNS connection string, failed to resolve or connect.
Your client is making two connections. The first connection is to the SCAN listener. It matches a db instance for your connection request based on service requested, available registered service handlers, load balancing, and so on. It then send a redirect to your client informing it of the handler for that service.
Your client then does a second connection to this service (a local RAC listener that will provide you with a connection to the local RAC instance). This is what seems to be failing in your case.
The SCAN listener's redirect uses the hostname of the server that the local listener is running on. Your client needs to resolve that hostname (of a RAC node) to an IP address. This likely fails.
You can add the RAC node hostnames to your client platforms hosts file. The appropriate action however would be to ensure that DNS is used for name resolution instead. -
Error IFS-20010 connecting to IFS from java class
Hello,
I try to connect to IFS from java program with sentences:
LibraryService ifsService = new LibraryService();
CleartextCredential me = new CleartextCredential("user", "password");
ConnectOptions connectOpts = new ConnectOptions();
connectOpts.setServiceName("ifsDefault");
connectOpts.setServicePassword("ifspassword");
LibrarySession ifsSession = ifsService.connect(me,connectOpts);
the class compile but not run because the error:
IFS-20010: Failed to get PropertiesResourceBundler ifsDefault.
The message errors documentation said:
This error occurs when attempting to start an Oracle iFS process by specifying a service properties file name that cannot be located by the Oracle iFS repository. The
parameter specified in the error is the name of the specified service properties file. The specified service properties file
must exist in the oracle.ifs.server.properties package
descending from one of the directories included in the
CLASSPATH setting for the process.
I don't understand what mean this, somebody yes?
Please give me any idea.
What can i do to solve this problem?
Thanks.
FABIANHi,
Make sure you have $ORACLE_HOME/ifs/settings in your classpath.
Good luck. -

How connect to EJB from java webstart ?
Hi,
I'm a newcomer to J2EE, I'd like to build J2EEE app
first of all,I've developed simple EJB components and jSwing client to call method from EJB. All in the same project.
Client programe has method
private static Context getInitialContext() throws NamingException {
Hashtable env = new Hashtable();
env.put(Context.INITIAL_CONTEXT_FACTORY, "com.evermind.server.rmi.RMIInitialContextFactory");
env.put(Context.SECURITY_PRINCIPAL, "admin");
env.put(Context.SECURITY_CREDENTIALS, "welcome");
env.put(Context.PROVIDER_URL, "ormi://10.145.100.2:23891/current-workspace-app");
return new InitialContext(env);
When I run client app it work well, I follow in Jdev905 to deploy to java webstart
1. Create .jar file (Item JAR file - Simple archive)
2. Create Java web start(JNLP) files
after that, I have .jar,.html,.jnlp file
3. running project(use embedded OC4J server)
4. running .html file
first, java webstart download code then run but nothing
happen. I think that It may be some wrong in JNDI look up.
I try my best, It's taken me a week but I still do'nt understand.
! Please help show how to go through that or how to deploy using java web start. We intend to develop rich client.
thanks a lots!

Did you ever find a solution to your problem?
My situation is that I'm running a process that grabs data from a salesforce.com web service and dumps some of the data back into my local database. The process croaks after processing 850 or so records. I have also increased my PermSize memory to 512M.
Any ideas why all of a sudden after processing that many records it would stop working?
Thanks,

Two questions on dynamic parameter from java API point of view
Hi,
We have a requirement for dynamic parameters in crystal reports that need to be executed in java application. Since, crystal java framework do not support the dynamic parameter execution (please correct me if I am wrong), we plan to execute explicitly the query for getting the dynamic values of such dynamic parameters before listing the parameters in java application.
The query for the dynamic parameter will be given in the field 'Prompt Group Text' of the parameter.
I coudl not get hold of these details from java api. So please some one help me out.
Environment - Crystal X1 R2 with java libraries
1. How can we identify a parameter is a dynamic one?
2. How to get the 'Prompt Group Text' field value?
Any suggestions welcome.
Thanks,
Ratan.There are these two methods in the Business Objects Enterprise SDK Developer Libary:
byte[] getDynamicCascadePromptData()
Returns a collection that contains dynamic cascading prompt data.
java.lang.String getDynamicCascadePromptGroupID()
Returns a dynamic cascade prompt group ID.
For more information on what is available through available SDK's, please refer to the following link:

Problem in connecting external URLs from Java ME Platform SDK 3.0
Hello all,
I am building a mobile application using Java ME Platform SDK 3.0. My application needs to connect to external web services. I have finished development of first module and it is running perfectly from actual mobile device. But the problem is:
While developing the application I am used to test it with given mobile Emulators in Java ME Platform SDK 3.0. During this test I am not able to connect to external web service if I am testing if within local intranet using proxy server. To solve this I have configured Proxy Setting in the IDE at:
Tools Menu -> Options -> General -> Manual Proxy Settings and given HTTP Proxy Server and it's Port. The same proxy settings are there in all web browsers in my machine.
But It is giving error like:
Unknown error 10054 during socket::read
Strange thing is that the same application is running perfectly If my PC is not in Intranet and connected to internet directly.
Please help me that how can I set proxy settings in Java ME Platform SDK 3.0 to get in working?
Any suggestions regarding this will be helpful for me.
Thanks to spare some time and read my post,
Tejas.Hi Tejas,
it should work. I tested it right now and my proxy was used without any problems. The way how you set proxy settings is correct.
Could you try following to verify that it is a proxy problem or not, please?
1. run demo application "Demos" (from Start Page or File->Open Sample Project)
2. choose "HttpView" midlet and start it
3. choose "cnn"
4. if proxy is set correctly, you will see page source; otherwise you will get an error message
If the demo runs fine, the problem is probably somewhere else in the communication.
There is one limitation in proxy settings. Only proxy without username and password is supported. Isn't it your case?

Unable to establish connection with SQLServer from Java Application
Dear All,
I am facing the issue of establishing connection with SQL Server from Java project developed in NWDS. I am writing a jaas plug-in, as a part of that I am writing a login module to authenticate a web application through jaas, and I got need of fetching some data from SQL Server which is located in remote host. I am getting error in the line of code
<b>Class.forName("com.microsoft.jdbc.sqlserver.SQLServerDriver")</b>
I also added the 3 jar files (msbase.jar,mssqlserver.jar,and msutil.jar) to my login module project and copied the same files at C:\usr\sap\J2E\JC01\j2ee\cluster\server0\bin\ext\MSSQL.
My MI Landscape is j2ee stack + abap stack +WAS 6.40 with MAXDb as a database.
Could anyone please let me know the solution if you are aware of it.
Thanks and Regards,
KishoreI solved it by writing the following code
Connection con;
Statement stmt;
DataSource ds;
Context ctx;
ctx = new InitialContext();
if(ctx == null) throw new Exception("Boom - No Context");
ds=(DataSource)ctx.lookup("jdbc/SQLDB");
con = ds.getConnection();
stmt = con.createStatement();
String query = "SELECT * FROM SubjectBIR where Subject_ID='" + user + "'";
ResultSet result = stmt.executeQuery(query);
stmt.close();
con.close(); -
