Unable to access 100/149 events in iphoto

It all started in an effort to restore photos from my camera accidentally deleted while on a trip.  I used a restore program on the memory card.  In the process of retreiving images from the memory card, it also downloaded 10K of images from my computer.  I freaked out at all that data and deleted the whole 10K from the pictures file, not iphoto.  Since than I have tried multiple suggestions frm the support group to no avail.  Originally 100/149 events were black and when opened show thumbnails but unable to do anything with them, getting only a gray exclamation mark, and more recently with a thumbnail restore effort even the photos are gone.  I feel that I have done irrevocable harm.  My back-up is limited.  Help!!

As a Test:
Hold down the option (or alt) key and launch iPhoto. From the resulting menu select 'Create Library'
Import a few pics into this new, blank library. Is the Problem repeated there?

  • I installed OSXYosemite 10.10.3 and have been unable to access my photos in iPhoto

I installed OS X Yosemite 10.10.3 and have been unable to access my photos on iPhoto - in fact, I have  been unable to even get iPhoto to open.  I read that I should download iPhoto 9.6.1 but have been unable to even find it.  There was a suggestion about going to users and groups and creating a new user, then trying to go to applications, purchases, and clicking on "update" - that did not work.  Help.

On OS X Yosemite 10.10.3, Photos for OS X has replaced iPhoto in terms of your main Photo application.
While iPhoto is still technically on your computer, it is not available as a separate download from the Mac App Store anymore, unless it is under your Purchased Tab in the Mac App Store
You can import your iPhoto Library to Photos and all events (iPhoto Events), albums, etc. etc. will be the same.
Check out more about Photos for OS X here..... https://www.apple.com/osx/photos/

  • Question: Inadvertently a visiting toddler gained access to my computer during a visit. He's obviously fiddled with something as I can no longer use my arrow keys to navigate through my albums or events on iPhoto. Please help!

Question: Inadvertently a visiting toddler gained access to my computer during a visit. He's obviously fiddled with something as I can no longer use my arrow keys to navigate through my albums or events on iPhoto. Only one pic shows up in the album view - I can't see any thumbnails. To see the other pics I have to use the scroll bar on the right hand side of the window. Please help!

Depeding on your version of iPhoto: On the left (iPhoto 11) or right (earlier versions) of the lower frame of the iPhoto Window you'll see a slider. Drag it left.

  • I have suddenly become unable to access photo library  iPhoto (vers 9.5) on my external drive.  And time Machine will no longer back up to the same external (LaCie) drive.  Appreciate all suggestions.  The drive does show up on my desktop....

I have suddenly become unable to access photo library (iPhoto vers 9.5) on my external hard drive.  Also time machine isnt backing up to same external hard drive (LaCie).  The drive does show up on the desk top, but when i open iPhoto the library isnt listed, so I cant option click.

First, one should not try to run an iPhoto library from the same volume/drive that is being used by Time Machine for backups.  TM will continue to fill up the drive thus squeezing out iPhoto from being able to be opened and used. Also that doesn't allow you to let TM backup your library as it does with other files on your boot drive.
If you partition the EHD into two separate partitions you can run the library from it but that won't let TM backup the library which is important.
Are you able to see the library on the EHD via the Finder?  If so copy it back to your boot drive and open it there.  You may have to do some fixing on it.
Solution is to either run the library from the boot drive or get a second EHD to run the library from and let TM back it up along with your boot drive.

  • Unable to open the events in Iphoto or transfer photos to create a book?

Unable to open the events in Iphoto or transfer photos to create a book. The events are there but I am when double clicking they are not opening up. Also I am unable to drag photos to create a book. Any suggestions??

Select one of the affected photos in the iPhoto Window and go File -> Reveal in Finder -> Original. A Finder Window should open with the file selected. Does it?

  • Unable to Rename Events in iPhoto

I have tried everything to rename events in iPhoto, nothing works. When you click on the event name, it switches to what looks to be an "editable name" view as you would expect. However, typing does not change the text, and I am unable to select the existing text with my mouse. I assumed this would be a bug quickly fixed, but I downloaded the latest iPhoto update (from 8/29/2007), and this bug is not fixed.
I will try to add a screenshot of the problem later when I am back at home on the iMac.

    The fonts are likely corrupted.
Follow the steps in this Apple tech article-- iMac (Mid 2007): Some fonts may appear incorrectly rendered

  • I cannot access Content Library in iMovie - Content Library doesn't show on the iMovie screen and is greyed out when accessed through "windows" tab at the top. Also unable to update the projects/events (a suggested solution for a similar question).

I cannot access Content Library in iMovie - Content Library doesn't show on the iMovie screen and is greyed out when accessed through "windows" tab at the top. Also unable to update the projects/events (a suggested solution for a similar question). I haven't had this issue before, I have always used the content library on the screen but haven't used this for about a month. How can I make the Content Library available?

Thanks so much! I am backing up the entire computer now with an external hard drive - this should be fine right? And surely if I am backing up the whole computer these projects/videos will be backed up too? I wasn't sure how to do this any other way and I am clearly not great with tech issues. Once this is done and I am sure my projects/videos are safe I will do the delete and reinstall bit. Thanks for taking the time to help

  • Unable to merge events in iPhoto

I am unable to merge two events in iPhoto 9.4.2.  When I select two events to merge and then go to the Event menu there is no "merge" option, not even a greyed out one.  When I try to drag one event on top of the other I can't.  Help menu says either of those approaches would work.  I see similar questions to this on the Discussion Forum, but none seem to resolved.

Give this basic troubleshooting fix a try:
1 - delete the iPhoto preference file, com.apple.iPhoto.plist, that resides in your
         User/Home/Library/ Preferences folder.
2 - delete iPhoto's cache file, Cache.db, that is located in your
User/Home/Library/Caches/com.apple.iPhoto folder (Snow Leopard and Earlier).
or with Mt. Lion from the User/Library/Containers/com.apple.iPhoto/
    Data/Library/Caches/com.apple.iPhoto folder
3 - launch iPhoto and try again.
NOTE: If you're moved your library from its default location in your Home/Pictures folder you will have to point iPhoto to its new location when you next open iPhoto by holding down the Option key when launching iPhoto.  You'll also have to reset the iPhoto's various preferences.
NOTE 2:  In Lion and Mountain Lion the Library folder is now invisible. To make it permanently visible enter the following in the Terminal application window: chflags nohidden ~/Library and hit the Enter button - 10.7: Un-hide the User Library folder.

  • About a month ago I couldn't access 100s of pix from my iPhoto library.  I then went through the process of "re-finding" all missing pix.  I 2x checked that they opened.  Now, I'm having the same original problem!  What's iPhoto doin with my pix?

About a month ago I couldn't access 100s of pix from my iPhoto library.  I then went through the process of "re-finding" all missing pix.  I 2x checked that they opened.  Now, I'm having the same original problem!  What's iPhoto doing with my pix?  Is there a "batch" fix?

    Try rebuilding the library.
Hold down the Option and Command keys then launch iPhoto.
Select:  Repar the iPhoto Library Database
    Click Rebuild.

  • ASA 5505 unable to access ASDM ( just needs some ports ope and FWDing setup)

I was able to access the ASDM launcher in the browser yesterday   via    https://192.168.111.1/admin and I was stuck there as the browser version says that my ASA image does not work with my ASDM version...      So i tried some trouble shooting and think that i may have changed the image to an image that does not exist.     (I'm not sure where it is that I would actually place that image either)    Now i am unable to access through the browser at all.
Anyways, I am ok with SSH/CLI and have been using my firewall in this manner.   I am walking into this companies current configuration and simply need to do the following:
I need to OPEN ports 9000, 85, 40085, 49005 so that my mobile device can pull my security cameras in the office
I need to set port forwarding so that any connections that hit outside-in ip address 205.214.36.53:1610 >>> http://192.168.111.30:1610/AndroidWS/     for our new mobile CRM.

    Jgreene -
This doesn't specifically answer your question, but if you want to get ASDM functionality back you need to load a newer version onto flash memory and then point the ASA to that with the configuration command:
    asdm image disk0:/asdm-version.bin
You are running  ASA Version 9.0(2) so you need at least version 7 of ASDM to support that.  Interestingly enough your "asdm image" statement in your config points to asdm-509.bin and you have asdm-631.bin and asdm-645.bin on flash.  None of those will work.  I suggest loading up asdm-721.bin and changing the asdm image statement accordingly.  I am pretty sure a reboot is required after that is done.
    Good Luck!

  • Unable to access time machine back up

HELP PLEASE! It appears I have lost my iPhoto library due to Time Machine preparing for new back up and I am unable to access the last back up. The sequence of events is below:
    1. copied iphoto library from iMac to External Network Drive (WD 1.5TB White). Created a new folder called Pictures on the external drive and kept iphoto library there.
    2.  Mapped iphoto to the new location of the iphoto library. Imported more photos from a DVD.
    3. Deleted iphoto library from the iMac harddrive.
    4. iphoto throws error that there is no iphoto libraray. selects the same path again to map the iphoto library but to my horror I dont find iphoto library on the network drive.
    5. browse the folders on the network drive using finder to see if I can find the iphoto library but I see that the folder is empty.
    6. I checked other folders on the network drive which I had created same time as the pictures folder for iphoto library and had kept sizeable amount of data (mostly pictures to be imported into iphoto at a later stage), but find nothing in these folders as well.
    7. I have been using the same drive for keeping time machine back ups and I had the last back up before I copied iphoto library onto the network drive (steps 1 and 2 above), so I went into Time Machine Backup to restore the data.
    8. I get an error message that Time Machine cant access the back up. The information on time machine icon shows that last back up was on 16 July 2013 and oldest back up was on 03 April 2013 but both are greyed out so I cant click them. Furthermore Timemachine wants me to start a new backup but I am reluctant to start a new back up till I am able to access my back up on 16th July 2013 to get iphoto library back.
As of now I have no access to iphoto library and time machine back means I have lost ALL of my photos! it is very scary thought. I am sure there should be a way out. Any help is greatly appreciated!

That means the disk image is corrupt, which is to be expected, because the network storage device isn't suitable for use with Time Machine, whatever the manufacturer says. You may have lost your data.
The first thing you should do is protect yourself from further data loss by starting a new backup on a locally-attached external hard drive, not a network drive.
You can then try to retrieve the data in the Finder by descending into the folder named "Backups.backupdb" on the disk image. It may or may not be possible. If not, you need the services of data-recovery consultant. I don't recommend that you try to repair the volume, because that could easily ruin whatever chance there is for recovery if the repair fails.

  • VPN connects but unable to access resources on remote network

    HI,
I'm able to ping the ASA interface once  the VPN is connected but unable to access any of the resources located on the remote network such as shares and computers. The cisco vpn client shows data being sent and recieved when I ping the interface on the ASA but it doesn't recieve any data when I attempt to ping or access other resources on the network.

  • Unable to access applications in workspace, shared services

    Hi ,
I am Unable to access applications in workspace and shared services on EPM 11.1.1.3. It happened after normal shutdown/startup scripts were run.
But when I reconfigure the Weblogic web server and run the services again I can access the applications. This is happening frequently now.
Is this anything related to user profiles on the server as we are migrating these to other server.
Can any one help me with this .

You must first check if you have configured the web server to include the hfm/planning products.
Then you can refer to the thread below:
Not able to see Consolidation Administration
The latter definitely applies to version 9.3.1, but it could be helpful.

  • Unable to access the data from Data Management Gateway: Query timeout expired

    Hi,
Since 2-3 days the data refresh is failing on our PowerBI site. I checked below:
    1. The gateway is in running status.
    2. Data source is also in ready status and test connection worked fine too.
    3. Below is the error in System Health -
Failed to refresh the data source. An internal service error has occurred. Retry the operation at a later time. If the problem persists, contact Microsoft support for further assistance.
    Error code: 4025
    4. Below is the error in Event Viewer.
Unable to access the data from Data Management Gateway: Query timeout expired. Please check 1) whether the data source is available 2) whether the gateway on-premises service is running using Windows Event Logs.
    5. This is the correlational id for latest refresh failure
    is
    f9030dd8-af4c-4225-8674-50ce85a770d0
    6.
    Refresh History error is –
Errors in the high-level relational engine. The following exception occurred while the managed IDataReader interface was being used: The operation has timed out. Errors in the high-level relational engine. The following exception occurred while the
managed IDataReader interface was being used: Query timeout expired.
Any idea what could have went wrong suddenly, everything was working fine from last 1 month.
    Thanks,
    Richa

Never mind, figured out there was a lock on SQL table which caused all the problems. Once I released the lock it PowerPivot refresh started working fine.
    Thanks.
